Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
A little late, but here's CloneyO's and my review of To Catch A Jedi. Yeah, I'm curious about those things too, especially how Boba is going to get his ship back from Hondo, but I don't see Ahsoka working with Ventress again anytime soon. That comment she made was just something Filoni threw in because it's funny as that's what we were all thinking. It's because they're making every arc 4 episodes long now for some reason and somehow felt that another arc would be too much for this season. Quite frankly, I think they should have cut the Younglings and Droids arcs down by one or two episodes and included the Clovis arc instead. By the way, I really hope the Clovis arc takes place after the season finale, because it would be very strange now seeing Ahsoka back by Anakin's side after that ending. -
Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, yes. Or to be exact, I did.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

I'm pretty sure her confession included the murder. Why else would they let Ahsoka go? And Barris obviously has a lot of hate towards the Order and the Republic, so it's definitely possible that she was tapping into the dark side which would explain how she was powerful enough to do all these things. But yeah, it's quite a doozy how she was able to get into the prison undetected. They were also very vague about what is going to happen to Barris now. Ahsoka was indeed facing a death sentence as it turns out, so does this mean that fate belongs to Barris now? I guess the vagueness about that was to be expected, though, this being a kids show and all. I guess you're right. Still, I find that more remarkable than double wielding, which she could have easily learned at the Temple. I'm pretty sure the reason why he exiled himself to Dagobah was more because two Sith, an army of clones, and most of the rest of the galaxy wanted him dead than anything else. By the way, did anyone else notice that on the About page of this episode they seem to have Ahsoka confused with Alderaan? -
Hm, lets see... psycho killer - Nute Gunray (with Anakin obviously being the psycho killer) drug dealer victim - Han Solo helmet - clone/imperial pilot cloths dryer - Leia rattle snake - Boba Fett (with the snake being the sarlacc) kidneys - Watto/Jawa super glue - Chewbacca red button - Death Star Trooper No idea about the rest. They could be pretty much anyone.

Ideas for New Action Themes
Oky replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That sounds more like a dream Lego license than an action theme, and it's too similar to Chima for Lego to do anything close anytime soon. -

Glad to see you agree. I believe that was just a codename for Chima, but I'm not completely sure. -

Sorry to bump an old thread, but a discussion over in the Sci-Fi forum sparked some thoughts about a possible new time travel theme in me. It's no secret that I was a big fan of Time Cruisers which was a very underrated theme in my opinion. I think the idea of a theme revolving around time machines that allow you to have crossovers between any of the existing Lego themes was great. Even the designs of the time machines, although very bizarre, were very creative in that they were made out of pieces from different Lego themes / time periods and could fly, drive, and/or swim. However, I guess it wasn't executed as well as it could have been since the sets turned out looking very cobbled together and because there wasn't a consistent backstory. I think if they were to revisit this concept now, it could turn out much better than last time. Not only have there been many more themes since then that would lend themselves as inspiration for crossovers and the design of the time machines, but TLG has also gotten much better at designing sets that appeal to the target audience and know how to market them. If they were to design the time machines to have a more unified color scheme and to look less wacky, but still incorporate elements from different time periods, they could be pretty cool. The story could be similar to the first one - a group of scientists tries to prevent another evil scientist and his minions from messing up the timeline. It could be something like Adventurers where the bad guys are trying to steal all the greatest treasures in history. Or it could be like Monster Fighters where there's only one group of scientists, and instead of having each set based around a different monster, they would be based around different time periods, and the story would be about collecting an item from each time zone to keep the timeline from unraveling or something. This would allow them to reuse the dinosaurs from Dino, the aliens from the recent space themes, and all the historic figs from the CMFs. Maybe they could even have a TV show that promotes the theme like they have done with other recent action themes where the characters travel to a new time zone in each episode. So in short, if done right, I think a remake of Time Cruisers could work well. What do you think? -
From Almaak to Zotax: all the planets in the LEGO galaxies...
Oky replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yeah, I really hope they do a remake of the theme like they have done with Adventurers, Insectoids, and so many other themes/subthemes from the 90s! As you said, there's lots of new potential for it, and if they design the sets to be more appealing this time, it could be a real hit! I thought the theme was a great idea back then and I think it would be a great idea now. Heck, this could be an interesting idea for a MOC project - Neo Time Cruisers! EDIT: I have expressed my thoughts on a possible remake here. -

Yes, they do. In fact, throughout the entirety of the shuttle launch, the professor explains to Tim how it works, with the rocket boosters and everything. So no, it's definitely no futuristic spacecraft. True, I believe the time cruisers were only built as a means of traveling more comfortably and more controlled through the time zones. Like in the boardgame, the hypno disks on their own only send you to a random point in time. Yeah, I guess that would make sense. Again, unless there is some weird time paradox/alternate timeline thing going on. Me neither, but perhaps it is only referring to the American version of it, rendering the European version as the truly canon one? Yeah, I know. After listening to the Adventurers audio drama, I'd argue that Adventurers was far more inconsistent, but I digress. No, they don't, which is kind of odd. Actually, it is Captain Roger who reveals that it is the year 1602. Maybe he had a few too many bottles of rum before he talked to them. Actually, no. He does introduce himself as Captain Roger, but I figured I'd include Redbeard for clarity. After all, Brickipedia calls him Captain Roger Redbeard, which could indeed be his full name. Yeah, kinda reminds me of a certain mafia game. Interesting. Yes, it does make more sense that the city is named after what's on all the signs. Yeah, I guess so, and since he gave the radio to the time travelers, history wasn't altered. I guess he never sold his invention, whether deliberately or not. Indeed, especially since some of them are kind of pointless. Especially that last trip to the Aquazone was very redundant as it only happened because Dr. Cyber accidentally hit a button with his elbow and they left that time zone almost immediately (although not without throwing some Aquasharks set names out there). I guess one has to keep in mind that these audio dramas, just like everything else Lego produces, is made to advertise their products, and with Time Cruisers they had the opportunity to advertise every theme that was currently out, so that's what they did. Something I didn't mention is that a big chunk of these audio dramas consists of the characters describing the things they see and saying how marvelous they are. It makes sense for time travelers to be amazed at things from other time periods, but at the same time you can tell that they were just trying to sell those sets to the kids who were listening. And since a different story was included with each of the three larger sets, I guess they wanted to make sure to mention every theme in each story for the people who only bought one or two of the sets. -

Actually, that's the one part you didn't miss. That scene is from one of the episodes that got pushed off to the next season. I believe MillenniumFalcon.com is still the best place to get the episodes. -
Yes, note the timer on the right of the website I linked to. As of this post, it will be released in 14 hrs and 40 mins, so at 9:00am where I live (GMT-8). So I guess you'll have to watch it after class.

Sure I do! I just wasn't sure if nostalgia/tradition was the only reason behind it. Thanks.

Agreed. Those would make for a great set if we get another wave as that split-apart feature seems like a perfect play function for a Lego set. Isn't that kind of the point of The Foot? To be the Stormtroopers of the TMNT universe? Seeing as Casey Jones is confirmed for next season, the Purple Dragon will probably get more focus too, so they're likely to appear in the next wave if there is one.

True, although I wouldn't call the JL movie inevitable. It is said that it depends on the success of Man of Steel whether it will get made or not, and I can see the turnout of that movie going either way to be honest. Yeah, I'm pretty sure Reed Richards is the smartest of them all as he seems to be a master of all kinds of science. The others are just brilliant in their own fields. And Banner has a point, but that's why we love Tony. He's not perfect, but he makes the best out of what he is.

I know what you mean, but they obviously chose Barris for shock value, both for the viewers and for Ahsoka. They even replaced her lightsaber in that shot with Anakin holding it in the trailer to throw people off. I think it would have been fine if they would have explained Barris's change a little more, but as it is it does seem a little far fetched that she would suddenly become so evil. Oh well, it was still a good story. A good question, but I'm a little more concerned about the fact that she knew how to force choke. That's definitely something they don't teach at the Jedi Temple, so did she somehow teach it to herself like Anakin? Also, they never explained how she was able to get into the prison cell, kill Letta, get out, and help Ahsoka escape, all without being seen or sensed by anybody! Was she hiding under the floor or something? -
Only 20 hrs to the new IM3 trailer premiere! So excited!

This is great! I've never heard of the song until now, but I quite like it. And your Star Wars version of it makes it even more awesome! Each vignette is so detailed and well done! I can't even pick a favorite, although Kenobi doing "electrical work" on the Death Star right before his actual death is probably the most clever. Very well done. I can already imagine the Star Wars scenes for the rest of the song and can't wait to see you build them!

Yay! I was hoping I would get 3rd place! I don't have the Padawan Menace, but already have Maul and don't really have anywhere to display the SSD. Besides, there was no way I could have beaten Pedro and ACPin's amazing entries. Just to clarify - Is this the Blu-Ray & DVD combo pack with the Han Solo minifig or is it just the DVD? I'm asking because it says DVD and the picture shows the comic book based on the film. Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me, and congrats to my fellow winners. You really deserve it! Now lets wait and see who actually made the closest prediction of what the new trilogy will be about!

You really like reptiles, don't you.

I watched Jack the Giant Slayer on premiere night. It was just OK. Some of the action and effects are nice, but other than that pretty forgettable. The story was very predictable, the 3D was practically non-existed, and there could have been more humor for my liking. Evan McGregor was great as always though. He even made a Star Wars reference ("I have a bad feeling about this"). Overall, it was a nice little fantasy adventure, but I recommend waiting to rent it or see it in a cheap theater.

Yay! At long last, the CMF contest returns! I will try to enter as usual. But is there no category B this time? I'm just asking because each category is labeled with an "A" at the end.

Thanks, those are petty neat. There are official picture of them on Brickset. This is a nice way of getting those version of Leo, Raph, and Donnie from the largest sets they're in. Too bad they didn't use the version of Mikey from the Shellraiser as well. I've been working on some TMNT reviews. Just give me a few more days... Can't you just use one of the Chima crocks? You're a Cragger fan after all, aren't you? I know they're kind of small, especially compared to Dogpound, but close enough. Those are indeed pretty awesome, thanks for sharing! They also finally started showing commercials for these sets on TV, although I can't find them online anywhere.

Yes, it does say it's 3777. So I guess NASA does still exist, especially seeing as they still have space shuttles and stuff too. And in the episode, Dr. Cyber does say that he was asked to be one of the scientists to board the shuttle which they watched launch (and which is headed to an orbiting space station), but he turned down the offer to keep working on his time cruisers. Forgot to mention that part. And yeah, you're probably right about Lego Town. Yeah, I guess that is possible. After all, mankind had to explore space first before they could colonize it and form all those factions. Ah, thanks. That's indeed a confusing backstory. Maybe he returned from the past somehow (back to 3777) before constructing the time cruisers with Tim? Dr. Cyber specifically says that he invented and built the time cruisers in the time cruiser lab together with Tim and Robbie Robot. And maybe he received his professor title between the events of the magazine and the audio dramas. Also, the concept of putting on hats in order to travel to the time from which they're from is completely absent from the audio dramas as well. They just punch in a year on that gizmo that constantly keeps breaking and simply take the hats with them in order to blend in better in the time zones they travel to (although they never actually use them). I guess this all comes down to poor coordination between the European and American Lego staff. I know, right? Sadly the new EB doesn't allow you to change your username anymore (before you could do it if you had 500 posts), but you could always ask an admin to change it for you if you really want to. Hohoho! And since you've been so good this year, here's the summary of the third episode! So another nice bunch of info right here. Hopefully it will be of use to some of you. What I found odd is that Dr. Cyber said that they were from Europe. How can he work at NASA and live in Europe? Perhaps he was referring to the fact that he or his ancestors originally came to America from Europe. -

My pleasure! And no, of course I don't mind. Well, it doesn't say anything about what happened before they built the time cruisers, but it is specifically said that this is their first time travel, so I don't think that's the case. But yeah, I guess he could have created a time paradox later on (I got the reference by the way ). Where did the American story come from anyway? Really? That's odd, seeing as he is specifically called Richard Lionheart in this story, and the year 1199 is the last year of the real king Richard's rule. But I guess none of the minifigs Lego makes are supposed to represent real people. As for believing the time travel story, he just chalked it up to magic, which he knows exists since his friend is a wizard. And no, 1986 is not a typo. I'm 90% sure that's what he says.
