  1. Hey that's not bad, not bad at all! Even better than just having yet another contest in the same style! This would be about revenge, which means it would be building on the previous contest and result in even better entries! Also, it would be a nice challenge as the jellies don't have posable arms! We should totally do that! That's a good one too! It's always good to combine two themes!
  2. Hey, Jim! Whasup? I can still not decide if I should join. It sounds so much like fun! Can you please help me decide by answering these questions: When is this going to start and how long is the first chapter gonna go? When will the next chapter begin? And what is the minimum amount of posts required per week? Cool background story btw, Jim! So you're like a force sensitive SW version of Batman? Sweet!
  3. I don't think we should even limit ourselves to Nintendo games only! Make it any videogame! And yes, different sections are a good idea. Here are some other ideas: Kill the Jellies Contest! How do you kill a creature that is made out of glowing jelly and can survive with unusable arms and a gapping hole in his stomach? Abominations Contest Based on this gallery, we could have a contest to create some LEGO abominations (minifigs with multiple or animal body parts, etc.) ourselves! who ever makes the most hideous or strange one wins! A rule against actually ill-treating your LEGO would be nice! Post-Apoc Contest This is not your usual post-apoc contest - it's actually a time twister! The situation is this: What would the world today be like if Ole Kirk Christiansen was never born and the best toy in the world never invented? Pretty scarry, huh? Also, some kind of zombie contest would be fun; something like "Zombiefy your sigfig" or so perhaps?
  4. Sounds kinda like fun, JimButcher, but I fear I wont join for two reasons : 1. I am so busy with college that it will probably be too much stress for me to build and post something all the time, even though I visit this site multiple times a day already. Midterms are coming up and I am getting a major eye surgery done on May 8. 2. I have no clue what the heck life was like before Episode 1! And what I have seen in comics so far, I didn't like. So I don't even care. Only thing I care about outside the movies is the Clone Wars! HEY! How about we change the setting to that? The CW would be a much more exciting era to tell stories about and make comics for! I would seriously love that! Also, I ddidn't follow (and therefore never understood) the TIE Army game, so I have no idea how such a game is like. Sorry! But if I should understand the game and find enough time to participate, these would be the kind of characters I would want to be: 1. A bounty hunter. :skull: 2. A Podracer driver. (There were podracers back then, right? ) 3. Somebody who works on some kind of high-end technology, like a droid or starfighter engineer. Who ever he would turn out to be, he would live on Corruscant!
  5. NIIICE! Such detail! I love it! Even though it doesn't make sense whatsoever how this monstrocity is supposed to stay airborne with just 2 engines! Gotta love air pirates!
  6. Well, there aren't many techniques I didn't already figure out myself, but stacking bricks to make walls of one kind of bricks isn't such a bad idea actually. It will be a pain in the megablocks to seperate them, especially when building something made mostly out of bricks, but at least it will be easier to find the brick you are looking for. Then again... Isn't that kind of the beauty of building with bricks? Stroking your hand through a box full of bricks in the search for a particular one while listening to the soothing sound of rattling plastic? Wow, I have problems, haven't I?! Or does anyone else have the same brick fetish? Btw did you notice the other lego related articles on that website? They include a review of a book that has instructions for automatic LEGO guns, and a collection of some hideous LEGO Abominations! Those abominations give me an idea: we should have a contest about making some ourselves! In that case I would like to have a rule against actual mistreating your lego like they did at some times! What do you think? Wouldn't it be fun having a contest about making minifigs with multiple or animal body parts? Anyhoo, thanks for posting this!
  7. Hehe! That's pretty good! It's so ridiculous that it's funny! I just watched that movie the other day, so I know which scene you're talking about. Yeah, those Supers can be quite a jerk! You know, something like this would be a great entry for the Chamber Contest! Something like "What happens to bad kids droids" or something. I feel like having some chicken droid legs myself now Any other example you can provide?
  8. I think this has something to do with storytelling. I think it's about what something is meant to be or represent. So my theory is that anything that was designed as a character (something that has a personality and interacts with other characters) is a minifig, everything else is an object or vehicle. So, to answer your questions, aliens, robots, and even mouse droids are characters and therefore can be seen as minifigs. If you need proof, look at the box, they're being listed among the minifigs on there. I am not sure about spider droids as they don't really seem to have a personality and hardly interact with other characters (except for shooting at them), but I am sure it's safe to say that Vulture and Hailfire Droids are just smart vehicles. Does this make sense? I hope I could help.
  9. Hey, don't be embaressed! I am 20 and I play with it too! Although I usually have it on display, I can't help it to pick up a car, airplane, or starfighter MOC or whatever and swoosh it around a little bit whenever I get bored from doing homework!
  10. Well, that sucks, but it was just a tip anyway. As I said, the EF head works just fine, but if you would like to have a scared face like the one in my entry, the cheapest set it comes in is the Knights BP as far as I know. About your entry in general: Now that you know the new deadline, why not replace it with the other, better one you're talking about or at least post better pics of this one? I don't care about the fate of the banned member; I just wanna see him suffer! And yeah, after the deadline, it is not only illegal, but also impossible to change your entry as the admins close the thread.
  11. Yeah, those look freakin tight! Can't wait! Anyway, this is what I got: 4 old-school Endor bikes 2 Clone BP bikes 2 Dooku bikes 1-2 old-school Darth Maul thingies 1 Anakin bike WOW!!! WHAT THE HELL do you do with that many bikes??? I think that was supposed to be an escape pod!
  12. I like the sound of that! Yeah, that is crazy! But I think, I really need to get an MTT and some more clones and/or stormies! I don't like rebels for some reason. Btw, what kind of clone is the one riding the Scout Walker???
  13. Even though it does look a bit rushed, your vig is pretty decent, Wilhelm! The smoke is recognizable as such and the story is pretty funny and easy to comprehend! Still, here is a little tip: If you have enogh of them, use ice cream balls for the smoke effect! It will make it look much more cloud-like! Like in this moc (it's not from me): Also, in most of the pics you can't see the bad kid's face which is not good as it is an essential part of the comedy. Maybe it's because of the helmet, but maybe you should try having him look over his shoulder at the missile or something. In that case, a more scared than angry looking face would be good, but if you don't have one, it's o.k. ; the EF head will do just fine! My entry for this contest is my second or so vig ever, too, and I am quite happy with it. Any tipsI'm looking forward to seeing your other vigs!
  14. OK! I think, it''s a no-brainer that this is a must-have for pretty much anyone who likes LEGO! It's cheap and a great minifigs & parts pack! I'll be getting at least 1 of these! Here is what I like about it: 1. Great minifigs with nice torsos, sweet faces, and awesome hair! (Gotta ask 'em where they get it done! ) 2. Golden katana! 3. Chicken leg! YUM! 4. Nice campfire! And this is what I don't like about it: 1. Dark bley knife! Seriously, they could have at least made it silver like the sword, if not chrome! 2. Rehashed tent. 3. Spiders with 6 legs!!! I actually don't really care about the tent and the multi-legged creatures. Those go straight into the sorting boxes. Perhaps I might use the tent someday for a steampunk MOC of some kind, or a stop-motion film, or maybe some kind of contest... Anyway, what's up with that thing that holds the katana, the sword, and the saber? It's in the airplane set too! Is it perhaps one of the treasures of the new movie or is it something Indy takes with him everywhere in this film? 44However, nice pics, nice review! Thanks, dude!
  15. I know! I was just kiddin! Don't be intimidated, I probably don't even have half a million BRICKS. As I said, I have no idea how to estimate this! So, I'm not THAT wealthy, but my collection is pretty large. There are still a couple of people who have a whole basement stuffed with bricks (as seen on brickshelf) who I would want to be.
  16. Troll: You came on THAT?! You must be braver than I thought! Dwarf: I have a bad feeling about this!
  17. This is my first themed month on EB and I am really enjoying it. I didn't even know there is such a thing before. I just wrote a caption (my first caption entry!) and I am about to take pics of my elflands entry to that as well. It's a little girly, but very nice looking. However, here are some other month theme ideas for this year: May: Indy Month July: Batman Month August: Clone Wars Month Please tell me what you think about these and how big the chances are of them becoming reallity!
  18. Hey, Jim, you don't need to minimize anymore! Look at Luhan's images. They're huge as well! So, just go ahead and show us your CIS army, I can hardly wait to see it! Btw, how is your Mygeeto MOC coming along? Anyway, this is a very nice show-off thread! I might post my army sometime, too, but it's really not big. 2 Clone Trooper BPs, 1 Rebel Trooper BP, 4 Scout Troopers, 3 Stormies, 1 Stormtrooper Pilot, 1 Clone Trooper Pilot, and 1 Snow trooper. Also some droids, but not many.
  19. How long do your MOCs stay built? Oh that varies a lot, but usually I am too lazy and too proud of my MOCs to destroy them and sort all the pieces again! There are many factors that depend on how long I keep my MOCs: 1. Quality: How good did it turn out? Is it a masterpiece that no other MOC of its kind will ever be able to outdo? Or is it so hideous that it could be part of a Megablocks line and would look better in pieces? 2. Love: How much time and effort did you put into it? How much does it mean to you? Are you able to part from it? 3. Detail, Variety & Size: How large and detailed is it? How many different kinds of elements did you use (bricks, plates, special elements, Technic pieces, non-lego, etc.)? Thus, how hard is it to sort all the pieces? 4. Stability: How complex and stable is it? Can you drop it onto the ground so that it shatters into all of its components or do you need to get the (power) tools out to seperate the parts (quality Technic MOCs )? 5. Time: Do you have time to take it apart? Do you have time to take pictures of it first? Or do you currently have time for lego at all? 6. Usefull Components: Does it contain any parts that you need for another MOC? How many are they? When and how badly do you need them Do you need most of it for your entry for the greatest contest there ever was and will be (Block-Block ) that is due in a few hours? So, you see, when to take your MOCs apart is a real science! I always keep MOCs displayed in my room as a representation of my artistic skill and lego wealth. Yes, I am arrogant! Along with all the things above, this is the reason why some of my MOCs last pretty long. For instance, around Christmas 2003, I made a 3-4 feet tall Santa Claus statue. It was awesome, the largest and best sculpture I ever made! I had to destroy the body when we moved to California in 2005 because it was too big , but I kept the head as a bust and I still have it! If we hadn't moved, it would probably still be in one piece. That 's how long I keep my MOCs! I know, that arm looks very thin from this angle. I ran out of red bricks that day and couldn't get any more 'cause it was Christmas. I got some afterwards, though. Other than that, what do you think? Does anybody else have such an anecdote of a MOC they took apart? Do tell! Merry Castle Month everybody!
  20. How much is my collection worth? That's a very good question! Even though I am very organized, I can't tell, since I have no clue how to estimate this! I kept the instruction manual of almost every set I ever got, except for doubles and Brick Bucket idea books. I do have the buckets, though. Do I just look up the price of every set and bucket/tub? If yes, do I look for the current price or the price of when it was released? Anyhoo, considering all the mindstorms sets, other large sets, buckets, tubs and all the many, many small sets, it probably comes up to about half a million dollars! I mean, I have a whole 7x7 feet large closet stuffed with tubs and sorting cases for pete's sake! And if you need to know the proportions: 1 tub contains bricks from a different color (ONLY BRICKS, no plates, no <insert that tiresome argument> parts, no round bricks) and I need one sorting case that is larger than 2 PS2s put together to contain all 1x2, 1x3, 2x2, 2x3, 2x4, & half of all 1x4 plates! And you have no idea how many MOCs are lying around my big room! So, you see, I have quite a proud collection for somebody my age (20)! Showing off ON! PS: Can somebody please still answer me the question(s) from above?
  21. Check out these bricks! *sweet* Or should I say 'blocks'? *tongue* This is actually not funny, just cool. It's for real, you know! Here is a joke, though, I came up with: A minifig calls the Lego City Hospital. "Doctor, doctor," he says, "I can't move my arms! Can you help me?" The doctor replies "Sure. Just stop by and I'll see what I can do!" The minifig thanks him and hangs up. The doctor waits and waits, but the minifig never shows up. About a year later it finally comes into the doctors office. "What happened?", the doctor asks. The minifig says "Nothing. I left home and came here right away." "Why, where do you live?!" asks the doctor. The Minifig replies: "On Mars." *grin*
  22. Yeah, that kind of sound can be quite a pain in the megablocks! *hmpf_bad* Some time ago, I was building this globe: I was done with about a third of it, as it slipped and fell off my lap! *oh3* *sing* *sing* *sing* *cry_sad* Since it didn't have much support at that point, it all fell apart, and I had to start all over again pretty much! It didn't all burst into pieces, though; the base and some big chunks of the walls were still left, but with most of them I had no clue how they fit into the puzzle. *sceptic* May the force be with us, so that this kind of thing happen as least often as possible! *wink*
  23. Here is some Castle related news for the month: Among some new City minifigs and tools, you can now order Skellies and Knights from Pick-A-Brick! *oh* This includes the new skellie bodies with the droid arms, alpha team style skulls ( *skull* ), crownie knight torsos, black and silver body armor, serious looking minfig heads (from the Police Officer), cross bows, and black cups! *sweet* Unfortunately, there are no helmets or swords of any kind. *hmpf_bad* TLC seems to know that April is Castle Month! *grin* Army Builders ON! *thumbup*
  24. Aw, man! You guys are making me jealous! *cry_sad* ME WANT NEW CASTLE SETS TOO! *sing* All we have here in California is the Dwarves Mine and Troll Battle Wheel! And I am too cheap/poor to get them! *hmpf_bad* Oh well, nothing to do but wait... *sceptic* Anyway, even though I am much more looking forward to the other Troll-sets (Dwarf catapult, Troll Wagon, Troll Warship) and probably wont be getting this one, it looks very nice. A good castle parts pack, I guess. I love those giant, shiny wheels, all that brown (good for steampunk! *wink* ), and of course that cool Troll flag! Btw, did any other SW fan notice how similar it looks to the Mandalorian Insignia? *sweet* It's so cool! New Castle sets coming to the States very soon ON! *hmpf*
  25. Isn't it a jedi hood?
