  1. Thanks! And yeah, that's what I thought, too, but didn't say it because I thought maybe some of us would like to use this opportunity to recreate a whole little civil war scene or something, but thinking about it, you're right - vigs do attract more contestants, especially when it involves sigfigs. This is not only due to the little amount of bricks needed, but also to the fact that, in larger mocs, sigfigs and (humorous) details get lost. So, Let's rename it to "SigFigs Lost In Time Vig Contest", shall we? ;-) Btw: As I'm writing this, my TV is running, and it just gave me another interesting idea: How about a MYTHBUSTERS related contest? *sweet* Perhaps something like "Recreate the busting of your favorite myth"? Then again, there has't really been any minifig head with a beard, a mustache, and glasses. Or has there? Well there was this one train-guy from the last advent calendar... Idk 8-| sounded like fun to me anyway as it is an awesome show! Here are three more ideas: Fancy Chess Set Contest Inspired by the awesome Dwarves vs. Trolls chess set, this contest asks you to build the best, fanciest, most detailed chess set ever! 8-
  2. DAMN! That Torrent is really not exactly the most interesting SW-vehicle, but its smooth automatic Wing fold-out function is just SOOO SWEET! :'-) I don't know how long I'll be able to resist the urge to put it on my Lego Fall Shopping List! |-/ Also, did you see that detachable seat row in the AT-TE? Seriously, the fact that we don't get any clones to seat in their is megablocks too bad! |-/ If there aint gonna be any BPs with EP II clones, I would be really pissed disappointed! :-P Nah, it's all good. I don't care really; I'm just happy that we get such a nice AT-TE. ;-)
  3. Even though each of these suggestions sounds interesting, I think we would need an occasion to have a contest about a specific movie. As we know, specification limits the number of contestants, but if there is a remake, adaption, or sequel of a movie coming up or currently in theatres, or if there is a new line of legos with that movie as the theme, people would be much more interested in entering such a contest. Else, one could suggest contests for any movie that comes to mind. Therefore, with all the new indy sets and the 4th movie coming up, the "Indy Vig Contest" would be an option. If there is no special occasion, but if you still want to have a contest about a certain movie, I would suggest to generalize the contest a bit to make it interseting to a larger croud of people. If you want to enter a contest with a King Kong moc, for example, the contest could be "Black & White Classics" or "Classic Monster Movies" or something like Batbrick suggested. I hope you understand my concerns and forgive me for being so critic about such great suggestions. ;-) Now I have some more ideas to give: Sigfigs Lost in Time Imagine a black hole would apperear in the EB Neighbourhood and would suck in all sigfigs and thrust them back in time! 8-
  4. Here are my thoughts about this calendar: First of all, I don't believe that this is the real price of this thing, even though it is not like any calendar we've had before - I count 10 minifigs (more than we ever got in one calendar) and each of them has one big theme related gift instead of two smaller ones. This might be an improvement, but I don't see how this makes the whole thing 10$ more expensive. :-/ But if this price is right, what will the castle calendar (which looks even better than this one) cost?? :-X I was satisfied actually with the calendar from last year, and if this is going to become the price standard for advent calendars now, I'll rather wait until after Xmas to get them. |-/ And yes, that snowman does look weird. Looks like some kind of robot trying to whack that guy girl transvestite! :-P Also, I would have prefered printed tile pizzas. But I guess the parts are more useful this way...
  5. I had something similar in mind, but then I changed it to a sigfig 'recreation' contest since I thought that recreation would be more fun to portrait, but reading your post and thinking about it, it would probably be more humerous this way. Way to change my mind! :-P 8-
  6. I know that they have 'em in TRU in Fullerton, Orange County, California. How often do I have to say this? :-|
  7. I am almost sure that we will get some of those earlier than that! I mean, I just can't live with the thought imagine that TLC would give us Indy and Speed Racer in May, Batman in June, and bust out everything else in August! >:-( It says that we were going to get the Dwarves' Mine in August as well, but we already have it (and some of us the Battle Wheel) already, too! ;-) Of course it's awesome! And it always has been! I don't know what you are talking about; the design hasn't changed at all, they just made some of the parts silver, and the agents' color scheme was bley & dark blue to begin with, even though it was a little hard to make out from the first pics. No offense, but you should have paid more attention. ;-)
  8. I know! This is a definite must buy for me this year for I was waiting for a cheap way to get Freeze anyway! The other Batman sets don't interest me much - sure there is Harley, but her set is simply to pricey 4 me. And it breaks my heart to look at those SW sets: I WANT THEM SOOOO BADLY *wub* , BUT THEY ARE SO DAMN EXPENSIVE AND ARE COMING IN AUGUST!!! :'-( *sing* *sing* :'-( Oh well, nothing to do but to wait and save. :-| In comparision, the Indy sets look quite reasonably priced and beautifully designed. I am sure to get that camping set which is very nice with 3 great minifigs, a tent, giant ants/spiders, and some equipment for 10$, and the one with the amphibic vehicle catches my eye a little too! The Temple is awesome, but unfortunately out of my price range! Overal, somehow, all these news rather upset me than to excite me. :-( Hopefully, we will get some Castle, Creator, and Agents pics soon that will cheer me up. :-/ Other than that: 2008 ON! ;-)
  9. After calming down from all the excitement over this awesome chess set, there are 2 things that bug me a little: While all the pieces of this set are different, there are 2 of the same Good Wizard. Why? And why are there skellies on the bad guy side? I thought the knights defeated those in Wave 1. Did they return and fight alongside the orcs & trolls? Or is this some kind of Best Of Castle chess set? Also, can anyone make out who the king & Queen of the bad guys are? I can spot a black wizard's hat. If it is the evil wizard from Wave 1, that would explain the skellies (although it could still be a Best Of).
  10. Aaaawww Maaaan! :'-( I would have loved to enter that one! |-/ Oh well, looking at all those great entries I wouldn't have stood a chance anyway. X-D Also, there might still be the possibility that there will be a transformers contest as suggested, which would be even better. ;-) So, you like my ideas? Yay! :-D You want to hear more? Well, I already posted my best ideas... but here are some other thoughts I had: EB Neighborhood: Music Contest - Create a vignette showing your sigfigs music interrest! EB Neighborhood: Movie Contest - Let your sigfig star in a scene of its favorite movie! This would make a great opportunity for some hilarious parodies! X-D Parallel EB Neighborhood Contest - What would your sigfigs counterpart from a parallel universe look like? *sweet* Create a nice vignette that shows both versions. Some kind of videogame related contest would be cool. No specific game, just something like "recreate a scene from your favorite game" or "show your sigfig in the environment of your/its favorite game" or something. I'm also totally in favor of another "Kill"-contest as I missed all the others. Therefore, I would suggest this: A "Kill the Jellies" contest! X-D Now, with actually interesting Jellies with movable arms around the corner, it's time to dispose of the megablocky old ones! *skull* So, how would you kill an evil creature that is made out of jelly (and yet can't move his arms :-P )? Lego In Real Life - Create something out of legos that is actually useful in real/everyday life! CD racks, sun glasses, saucers, PSP stands, and key racks are some simple examples. The one to make the most useful thing wins! Or perhaps the other way around: Weirdest Lego Construction Contest - Build the most random, pointless, and weird thing you can think of! :-D Thinking about it, this contest is probably as random as it gets, and could be a lot of fun and a huge success! :-) A few pages back, somebody made a very interesting suggestion: To have a contest to answer the question "What would EB look like in Virtual Reality?". I think that is a very good idea; the visual interpretation of cyberspace is always very deep and interesting. It can be a lot of fun too! Remember that Futurama episode where the gang surfs a VR version of the internet? That was awesome! So, how about that? Also, I would love some kind of sculpting contest... I love to make lego sculptures and would like to know how you guys feel about that kinda stuff. Maybe there could be a contest to make a sculpture of your favorite disney or comic book character or videogame hero? Or remember that giant minifig S@H exclusive from a couple of years ago? How about a "Supersize Your Favorite Official Minifig Contest"? Or "Supersize your SigFig"? Some sort of miniland-scale contest would be interesting too. Well, I'm running out of ideas and I'm gonna stop before my suggestions become ridiculous! X-D But before I go, I have a question: What about mindstorms contests? Are they out of place here on EB? If no, why don't we have any? If yes, where can I have one? I hope you like any of these ideas. I'll post again when I have something better to suggest! ;-)
  11. I live in OC, California, and I can at least confirm that I saw the Battle Wheel in the TRU in Fullerton. If you take a gooood look ;-) at the frontpage there is a thread to a discussion abot those. Btw, what do you do in Legoland?
  12. I have been thinking about sigfig-contests a little more and had some ideas. I like the idea of sigfig spaceships, but not castles - they are too much like houses, only more boring simple. A spaceship contest could result in quite creative Thinking of spaceships, it would be possible to make sigfig contests for almost any theme actually. How about sigfig mechs? *sweet* And I still think that EB Neighborhood vehicles would be a big success - especially if we do it the way casewindu suggested and have it be a combat race! Anyway, how about this: SUPER EB Neighborhood! It's a bird... It's a plane... It's a SigFig! X-D Show us your sigfig's secret identity! Is he a masked crimefighter with a cape and his underwear on the outside? :-D Or is he a villain bent on world domination? >:-) You decide! This contest involves "dressing up" your sigfig with a costume of some kind, in a way that he can somewhat hide his identity (making him look super-hero-ish), but that we can still make him out. The main point of this, though, is to show your sigfig in crimefigting/evil-doing action or in his secret lair. Signature vehicles would be OK too. Members like Batbrick or Dr. Sinister who's sigfigs are already a super hero / villain could be allowed to do it the other way around and show their sigfig's civilian identity in an everyday situation. :-D But that would be kinda lame and probably unnecessary - those kinds of members probably would want to show their regular sigfig in their element! ;-) What do you say? Wouldn't that be fun?
  13. Lucky! |-/ Anybody have an idea when those will be available in the US? It has to be soon, I can feel it! X-D
  14. X-O Ah yes, that's the one! I saw this thing in the "Silver Champion" I believe. Looking at this close-up, I think I figured out how it works - it simulates hydraulics: as soon as the piston is pulled out by the spring, the air in the piston is being slowly released through the tiny hole at the top, allowing the piston to slide out rather graduately instead of abruptly jumping out. Am I right? ;-) So that means that this will happen as soon as you push a button of some kind on the V-19, making the wings fold out gracefully like in the video! Very sleek move, TLC! *y* I like it! So much, in fact, that I might even get one of those after all... I don't think that a simple part like this is responsible for the Torrent's high price, though. I believe most of you guys don't reallize how big this thing is. Compare its size with the guy holding it in the video - it's almost bigger than the B-Wing, and that one was pretty pricy, too, right? I know it's not fair, but what can we poor AFOLs and SW nuts do about it?... :-| 8-| Looking at the video one more time, I wonder if this mechanism works as good as I think it should as it doesn't seem to work very well there. But I think the demo guy just doesn't know how to do it right and messed it up by getting his finger in the way of the wings! |-/
  15. What do those pistons do exactly? :-/ I don't think it's pneumatics. I mean, where is the pump and the air tank and tubes and everything? No, I think they are probably springs. Or could they have something to do with magnets? I remember seeing one of those under the hood of one of the first big, red TECHNIC F1 Racers, but since I never had any of those, I don't know what that part does exactly. Does anyone know what racer I am talking about, and do you own it? Can you tell us what that piston does?
  16. Awsome! Thanks! *y*
  17. Oh yeah! I remember those! That's kind of what I was thinking of when I first saw the dwarve & Troll stuff, too! Isn't it great how TLC revived this kind of creatively inventive-but-simple design? I think this calls for a contest! Check out my "Castle Wars" idea in the new contests thread!
  18. OK, so ever since I joined EB I have been thinking about contests, and I have come up with some great Ideas! Wanna hear'em? Well, here you go: Wonka Factory Contest Who can build the craziest candy making machine? X-D Not many rules here, just be creative! Perhaps our sigfigs could be the ones to taste the candy and maybe we will see its effect on them? :-D This could be a lot of fun! Perfect for Halloween! Castle Wars Inspired by the Steam Wars contest on FBTB, this is a contest to recreate iconic vehicles (or buildings) from SW in the creative style of the new Castle sets! The rule is to only use minifigs, weapons, and color schemes from the Castle line. Classic Castle would be OK too (I prefer the old dragons for example ;-) ). Also, make your builds somewhat plausible - things that hover could be on wagon wheels, things that fly could be attached to dragons, and things that are being accelerated by jet engines could be pulled by Trolls or horses. Be creative and we will see some great stuff like troll-pulled landspeeder or podracer wagons. Hereby, knights could be rebels or clones, skellies could be Battle Droids, orcs could be stormies, wizards could be jedi, trolls could be rancors or other big animals, and dwarves could be Jawas or Ewoks or something... :-D The inclusion of buildings in this contest is optional, although I would looove to see a "Death Castle"! :'-) This one would have to be held this summer, after all the orc/troll sets came out, of course. Here is an example of what flying creations could look like: EB Neighborhood Contest 2: Rides Continuing the success of the great Eurobricks Neighborhood Contest and following the suggestion of it becoming an ongoing theme, this contest asks the question "What does your sigfig get around with?" and allows EB members to create a vehicle for their sigfig! Whether it's a car, an airplane, a hovercraft, or flying saucer - create something that matches your sigfig (and his house)! Just go nuts! :-D EB Neighborhood Contest 3: Recreation What does your sigfig do after work? Does it go bowling with friends? Does it play golf or some other sport? Does it go to the club or beach and party out? Or does it stay at home and watches TV or plays videogames? What ever it does, SHOW US! This could be a vignette contest, but I would prefer it not to be. Disney Contest Remember when the name Disney used to stand for the best cartoons ever instead of the megablockiest sequels you ever saw? |-/ Good times... :-| Hey! X-O How about we honnor Disney's golden years by recreating our favorite scenes with legos! *sweet* This wouldn't have to be minifig scale as movies like Lion King would be rather hard to do that way. The same contest could be done with PIXAR films. That would be awesome too; I love PIXAR! I hope you liked my ideas and that I will see some of them reallized soon! :-D Feel free to tell me what you think about them! Contests ON!
  19. X-O WOW! Thanks, dude, I was hoping somebody else would appreciate the creativity I put into my Air Barge! Thank you! :-$ Hey, Hinckley, When does this poll close?
  20. WHAT? YOU MEAN WE GET A HARLEY QUINN FIG?? That would be sweeet! *sweet* But how do you know this? Are there more pics than the two I already know? Or some kinda list?
  21. OK, usually I'm not a big fan of castle stuff... BUT THIS IS JUST AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!! I mean, look at all those details: All those dwarves and orcs, all those weapons and flags, all those towers and that little gold mine... *wub* Just imagine what cool epic battle scenes one could set up with these! :'-) This year sure is a great year to be a castle fan! Too bad I am not one! :-P As lovely as this masterpice looks, I'm afraid I won't be getting this one as all my big money is gonna go into CW, Agents, and smaller Castle sets (BPs) this year. :'-( But maybe it will end up in the sales section with up to 50% off! *sweet* These are my feelings about the New Castle: I am usually more into futuristic Legos like SW, Agents, or Batman and used to dislike the castle theme for its simplicity: castles, knights, swords, horses, and maybe some wizards/witches and/or dragons. That was it. |-/ But since last year started getting much more interested in the whole Castle theme somehow. :-/ It all began when TLC decided to make the knights actually "shiny" and pit them against an army of UNDEAD *sweet* ! That was already pretty cool, but now they fight all new orcs and trolls, too, and have dwarves on their side! I am not sure why that makes Castle so much more interesting; I think it adds a great deal of a fantasy feel to the theme as it never had before (not even in Harry Potter) making it more LOTRishly epic! What I like best about the orcs is that they don't seem to have an HQ like a castle and employ very inventive vehicles instead! My faves are the Armored Wagon (pulled by a troll following food that is being held in front of him by the driver) and the Battle Wheel (a 2-wheel vehicle powered by orc feet)! What will those orcs think of next? X-D Btw, when does the orc stuff finally come out anyway? PS: How do you like my new avatar? X-D
  22. 8-
  23. Although I am as pro-cartoon as it gets, I have to agree and wouldn't mind a new Dooku either, even with beatle eyes. Dr. Jones Sr. is not doin it for me (Dooku looks stupid with glasses :-P )! And I am sure TLC will pick AOTC back up sooner or later. Let's hope sooner. You know what would be really awesome? Dooku in his Solar Sailer! *wub*
  24. Darn! I kinda wanted it to be motorized |-/ , but that is a good arguement, even though these box arts are still prelim! ;-) Also, *yoda* & anybody else who is wondering, here is the deal on "The Clone Wars": As Lucas stated himself, the old SW:CW show was merely a "pilot series" to this new one. The Clone Wars, which will have a tone similar to A New Hope, is set during the same three-year time period the first show was set in. It was created in an anthology format, with each episode being stand-alone. So, I think the episodes will occur between the episodes of SW:CW. For now, we only know The Clone Wars to be set during Vol.1 of SW:CW for sure (with the clones wearing Phase 1 armor, 3PO being silver, and Ventress being alive and all), but there are also signs that it will have episodes occuring during Vol.2. For example, Obi Wan & Anakin have their Ep 3 haircuts and Ahsoka is supposed to be Anakin's apprentice, a fact that proves that anakin is a jedi knight which he becomes during Vol.2. Don't ask me, though, why Ahsoka is featured in a set with Ep2 clones! *wacko*
