See, I knew you could do it! They both look great. Nice technique for the nose. June's hair looks surprisingly good too. I have been thinking about making these two myself, so I hope you don't mind if I borrow those techniques? For those who don't know these guys, here are some reference pics: By the way, I got my Zuko today! Now I just need to think of a MOC to put him in. I'm open for suggestions.

Are you sure? I am two ranks and several abilities above yours. But if you are, then we just need an adjudicator. -
Harry Potter: Wizard's Duel - Duelling Club
Oky replied to ADHO15's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
OK, everyone, seeing all the exciting new amendments in Legends of the Wizarding World, I have decided to exchange my Sectumsempra spell for a pet, which means it's back to school for me. I have updated my character profile and am ready to duel in order to regain my Auror status if anyone is up for it. Here is a little backstory on what happened to my character after his last duel: -
Thanks for the great review! But you forgot to mention if any of the figs have double sided heads. If they do, could you please provide a pic? Thanks. It's probably a Technic brick. Not sure why they would use one though.

Ah yes, the good old make-it-undone-so-we-can-keep-making-money-by-writing-the-same-old-stories routine. I don't read comics, so I don't know this story, but you did a good job of representing it, even if it's just three figs and some flames. It would be nice if you could provide a reference pic. MJ looks kinda ugly with that Spalko head, but I know that a sad female face is hard to come by, especially among fleshies. Spidey's smug grin isn't very fitting either, but oh well.

Hi, everyone. Remember that Steam Wars contest FBTB had a while back? Well, I felt like revisiting that theme to render the main characters of Star Wars in a steampunk style. Han was already very steampunky looking, so I just had to give him some goggles and a ray gun. And I didn't include Chewie because he doesn't translate into steampunk well, unless you turn him into a hairy human like this. Here's a back view of some of the more mechanical characters: Luke Steamwalker VS. Lord Vapor I hope you like them, and may the steam be with you.

"Almost completely SNOT"? The only SNOT I see are the tiles on the wall and the light brick. But aside from the misuse of terminology, this is a very nice vig, and the light-up showcase is a neat feature. The only part that could be improved, I think, is the floor which looks a bit plain. Having a rug or some kind of pattern there would make it more interesting in my opinion. I hope to see more vigs like this from you!

Indeed, that's why I said we need more. I myself contributed three so far (one, two, three) and as you can see only one of them uses the official figs, so I'm sure you can come up with something too. And don't worry about advanced techniques, they will come to you as your collection and experience grows. So get mocing! Yip yip!

Zero percent? Aren't you exagerating a bit? For all we know they may not even be planning a sequel. People are just expecting it because the "Years 1-4" part of the title implies it. And even if they are, anything can still happen that will stop the production of the game. After all, everyone was sure there would be a Star Wars Battlefront 3...

D2C Contest: Leviathan Dragon Fish
Oky replied to ---Vertea---'s topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Definitely! -
Today I finally broke down and ordered a Prince Zuko head and armor (among other parts) from bricklink. The head was $20, but I figured that I wouldn't get much of a better deal anywhere. So many Avatar MOC possibilities are opening up now!
-
Just don't buy from S@H; for all you know, you could end up with 60 clowns (which is unlikely, but still).
-
Yeah, it's not all that lucky. They've been adding those parts to "minifigure bars" across the country. However, mine has been pretty much sold out of those pieces the last few times I visited, so I guess you did get kinda lucky. They've had the soldier hats for months and they even had the torsos at one point (although the Chinese ones). How clever clumsy of you. ... well, since you asked so nicely, I wont. And I don't think D. Zaster is all that bad either, but then again my favorite color is lime green.
-
Yeah, and it wasn't even the whole fig, just the head and armor, with the head alone being $20. The complete fig costs between 30 and 50 dollars nowadays. By the way, has anyone noticed that the head of the Joshamee Gibbs fig from POTC is perfect for a purist Iroh?

D2C Contest: Leviathan Dragon Fish
Oky replied to ---Vertea---'s topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice work. The dragon fish looks great and very menacing indeed. The diver's craft is good too. But like you said yourself, the diver's head looks too much like Ace. I think if you're going to introduce a new character it should look different from existing ones. The whole thing looks like it could a set, though I'm not sure if it's really D2C material. How about adding some kind of cave or some ruins with treasure inside? That would really make this a great D2C set! -
Hehe, very nice. There have been several cabbage merchant MOCs already (mostly for Hinckley's Avatar raffle from a while back), but I never get tired of them. The vignette does look very simple, but the head of the merchant is very fitting and is what makes this creation so great. I'd bricklink it right now if it wasn't yellow. I was lucky enough to get most of the Avatar figs from bricklink for reasonable prices, and I just ordered Zuko today (for $21, but hey, it's ZUKO! ). I hope to see more Avatar MOCs from you, even if you don't have the figs!

Neat! Kinda reminds me of the vehicle contest, but as you said it's hard to be innovative these days. And yay for the starfighter category! I'll see what I can come up with. And no, for once I don't have any questions. At least for now.

Evil Emperor Zurg's latest diabolical scheme involves trying to win the Boonta Eve Classic Podrace with his evil Zurg Podracer (a.k.a. the "Z-Pod"), so Buzz Lightyear enters the race himself with his Star Command Podracer in order to stop him! Let's start with Buzz Lightyear's pod. This was going to be my entry for the Podracer Challenge, but I couldn't get it done in time, so I had to enter the Zurg one. Here you can see Buzz at the controls: The LGMs help Buzz keep his podracer in shape and functioning at maximum efficiency. But what would a Buzz podracer be without a Zurg pod to race it? That's why I built the Z-Pod. Due to its simpler design, this one was completed much sooner and ended up being the one that I entered in the contest. It got 15 votes, which is enough to qualify it for the race. Note how the engines are cylindrical like Zurg's body whereas the cockpit is pointy like his head. More pics in this brickshelf folder. Now it's time for you to decide which one is better and should win the race! Go up to the poll and cast your vote! To infinity and beyond!
-
Yes, this is a very nice entry. It was indeed an interesting choice to have two different engines based on each of Lotso's posse and it was very well executed as well. The 45 votes you got are very well deserved. The only thing that could be fixed would be Chunk's eyes. If this is supposed to be his angry face, they should be red. Otherwise just turn his frown upside down, literally. Good luck in the race!

D2C Contest: Ninjago Battle Chess Arena
Oky replied to kris kelvin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes, that's a good idea, but the spinners may be a bit impractical for the chess game (even without the 2x2 piece underneath, they might wobble around), and this set is obviously aimed at adults who are unlikely to have spinjitzu battles. And I certainly wouldn't want Kris to waste his money on those horrible things just for this entry. -
Simply check the "make public poll" check box.

D2C Contest: Ninjago Battle Chess Arena
Oky replied to kris kelvin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Very nice! I was curious after you left that comment on my PQ Chess entry, and you certainly didn't disappoint! Like Duke said, it really does feel like an adult take on a ninja chess set. The pieces are nicely designed and the drawers are certainly a clever touch. However, it doesn't really feel like NinjaGo to me. I think it would be better if the brown parts were red and black instead to correspond with the color scheme of theme, and if the pieces of the black side were Lord Garmadon and his skeletons. Also, while the timer looks nice, it's not something that would be in a set as it doesn't have any function (does it?). But overall nice job! -
Oh wow, I didn't mean to derail this thread like that at all! My apologies, I merely wanted to make fun of Anakin based on the known conception that the story of red riding hood is supposedly about warning girls about rapists, but I guess I took it too far. Please carry on, and no "prequel panes" please. That said, nice ones, Legonater and Artansis! Thanks for saving the discussion!
-
Hehe, nice to see that our thread has inspired others. Nice start, and I look forward to see more! Why don't you make it a public poll so we can see who is on whose side?

Just checked my local store and they don't have 'em yet unfortunately.
