  1. I liked the first film best, followed by the third, and the second and fourth are tied. Not really a fan of sea-monster pirates. My own opinion of Becketts death scene is rather low, as it seemed like a deus ex machina moment, kind of like the army of the dead at Minas Tirith. But on the whole, Im excited for another installment.
  2. Gosh, I hope not!
  3. Thanks! Yeah, I also thought it wouldnt be long till the reveal, but then i had to go back about 15 pages to find the list, so I thought this would be best, in the meantime.
  4. Only when it comes to the separation of themes I guess. Though I would probably cringe if some little kid would want to play wth my MOCs, but since my cousins are past the LEGO age, that doesnt happed anymore, so I cant say on this issue. But no Kragle. I wonder how I will turn out if & when I have kids, but too early to say now.
  5. I am blown away by the creative use of parts! And by how good the resulting goblin looks!
  6. Any chance you could update the first post with the list of minifigs, and maybe also the picture of the molds?
  7. Lots of good ideas here, with the fair and harbor. The idea of a civilian theme with alter egos is intriguing, and might be a way to sell the concept of civilian sets to kids. I myself have often thought about a theme of villages vs outlaws, as a fresh alternative to the perpetual offerings of knight-centered themes, but I keep thinking more and more that it wouldnt be a viable theme. The selling point of a Castle theme are the knights in shining armor and Castles with lots of play features, which is what kids want. I would love to be wrong, but here are the words of a designer of the 2007 „Fantasy“ Castle theme: the full interview is here, for those who havent come across it: http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/articles/designerfeedback07.html But in the spirit of keeping the Castle discussion alive and hopeful, I have taken the liberty of quoting an excerpt from my very first post on this forum:
  8. I thought that the best way to reconcile the faces would have been to have an episode early on in the Skulkin (or Serpentine) season where Kai gets a scar, but by the end of the episode (or a few episodes later) is healed by some magic spell or magic herb. And from then on, he would have the non-scarred face in sets and show. This would make the scarred Kai an interesting Kai variant. Well, I think thats one more good reason to give him a scar. To drive home the point that handsome =/= good, and ugly =/= evil.
  9. Eh. No accounting for taste. I share 8BrickMarios opinion. They might be funny, but are unusable as anything other than costumed characters - unless one has the correct head to make them humanoid animal monsters, or zombies. Its a thief from the 60008 Museum Break-In set from the 2013 City theme: http://brickset.com/sets/60008-1/Museum-Break-in Seems a bit too emotional for Zorro to me, but it beats using the super station master: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/6/68/Supervariant.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110604002513
  10. I can agree with the pirates claim, but I guess ninjas on kooky vehicles will be more popular among the target audience that the more historical ninjas of 1999. At least Ninjago will have much more to offer to Pirates than Nexo Knights will be for Castle.
  11. I personally like Creator houses better than modular buildings as housing for minifigs, precisely because they are much more in scale with most City buildings. The size difference just bugs me. So I hope the Creator houses will be many and close between (and interesting, but they usually are).
  12. Droid Jesus was deactivated for our sins! (but no worries, he was reactivated 3 parsecs later) But nice work, I especially like the technique for the candles.
  13. I actually have a hard time seeing the original Black Knights and the „Dungeon Masters“ (the Black Knights centered around the 6086 Black Knights Castle of 1992) as the same faction. The seconds ones used the kite shield alongside the classic shield, had dragon-styled plumes, the big flag, and apparently, much more lax regulations on facial hair – not to mention the alternate name of Dungeon Masters in some parts of the world. I kind of wondered (and still do) whether I should see them as another splinter group, or a special force within the Black Knights, or what. Come to think of it, I had (well, still have) the same conundrum with the „blue lion on yellow“ vs „yellow lion on blue“ Crusaders. And whats with Dark Forest using the same crest as the Forestmen? And Leos knights of 2000 having the same lion charge as the Royal Knights? And why would the Dwarves have the same crest colors and similar heraldry to the Crownies - was there a common ancestor to the Human and Dwarf royal families? (the Trolls I could understand, since they are just showing allegiance to the wizard) Boy, I am overthinking this way too much.
  14. Great build. Like Lyichir, I like how you enhanced the scene by showing the tracks the vehicles and guys left in the snow. And the greebling on the vehicle, too. Shame the turret cant fit a minifig (or can it)? Ice Planet being my favorite theme, I give this thumbs up:
  15. Glad to see dark orange replacing regular orange in the pirate vehicles. I must say I like the pirate color scheme much more than the ghost color scheme.
  16. Now this is a history/sci-fi mash-up I like! (unlike Nexo Knights) Very elegant! The skull is a nice touch. (would fit right in with Ninjago sky pirates with a different color scheme)
  17. Shame to see the theme go. Its not like a movie which has only limited screening time to sell sets; Scooby Doo is on air all the time. I cant even buy the reason that once you have the gang, there is no incentive to buy more - there is at least one alternate clothing option for each character, not counting disguises. And more monsters than you can count. AND plenty of vehiclesthat have been used in the episodes too: glass-bottom boat, hang glider, snowmobile, water scooter, etc. These could all be made in the Mystery Machine colors, if thats what the design team decided. And finally, if the theme was relevant this halloween, surely it wuld be relevant every halloween? /rant.
  18. These are all amazing, and do much to refresh my hazy memories of the films. Like some others, my favorite is JP III (though it was hard to choose), with the swampy water and the dangerously flimsy and rusting architecture.
  19. Since SW figs are included, my two most favorite licensed figs are Qui-Gon and Darth Maul, from way back when licensed figs were still yellow, which adds to Qui-Gons versatility. Dont really have a least favorite fig. As for which minifig I want most, well, there are too many. Boromir, Gondor Aragorn, Gríma, Saruman with dress slope, both versions of Gandalf, MoS, Balin Dwalin Bofur, Fili, Kili, all of the Scooby Doo villains bar the ghost and the headless horseman, or both Barbossa variants as well as the British officer and the cook from PotC, Dastan/Tamina/Nizam/Amar/soldier/hassansins from PoP, any minifig-sized Hulk, Venom, Carnage, Mandarin, Red Skull, Miles Morales Spiderman, ... But my most wanted *uncreated* figs would be all from LotR/Hobbit, starting with the Gondor soldier and ending wth any extra seen onscreen for half a sec. Oh, and X-Men from the 90s TV series (Cyclops and Gambit the most).
  20. You know, when we first heard that Ninjago would be cancelled and a new theme (which turned out to be Chima) would replace it, I remember a semi-official or unofficial announcement (maybe a LEGO designer?) saying that when we would see it, we would wonder why TLG hadnt done something this obviously awesome before (or something like that). Anyone else remeber that? Back then, my first thought was precisely an Action Fantasy theme (though not so futuristic). I was both intrigued and apprehensive back then, precisely because I was worried about Castle-esque theme getting the Action treatment. And now it came true after several years, as did my fears.
  21. I voted for "Royal Soldiers", as Im a fan of the nameless regular guys doing their work, while the glory hounds hog all the good publicity. And because none of the main characters appeal to me (yet). i hope the show will correct that.
  22. I also looked at the Dragon Masters as a splinter group off the Black Knights, lured away from the main faction by Majisto. But I still think the two are separate factions and shouldnt be grouped toghether. Take away the shields, and you wouldnt really recognize them as being similar.
  23. Opinion time! Since I have no idea when I will have enough time on my hands. I had hoped to see at least a small or grainy pic by now. - satyr: While the headpiece is nice, I actually think the gargoyle mold looks decent, and a the satyr headpiece is a waste of a mold. I dont expect or really care for molded legs. But I hope we will see a panpipe accessory – good for expanding the musical instrument collection. - tribal woman: The papoose looks great. I wouldnt mind the old Native American hair, but I would like to see something ike the classic shoulder-length hair or Dastan hair with a headband. I originally hoped for a recolor of the hippie hair, but that wouldnt allow the wearing of the papoose on the back. - farmer: Will be interested to see this one. Hopefully the hat will have straw printing. The pig can be the plain old mold and it would still be great. No need for a piglet mold, not that I would complain about one. - shark suit guy: Not my cup of tea. - clumsy guy: No opinion on the crutch debate, apart from not expecting a new arm mold. Hope the cast wont be signed. As for the headpiece, at first I actually thought it was only the bandanna in white, but hopefully thats not the case. A forlorn hope is that there wont be any band-aids on the guys face as that would make it unusable for historical settings. - queen: So it looks ike a 4x1 piece on the pic. I can live with that. Good about the hair i guess – more versatile than a crown+hair mold. One of the more anticipated figs for me. Hopefully the heart & diamonds mean there will be a related figure with clubs & spades – evil queen most likely. - flying warrior: if my French serves me, „volant“ could also mean a „thieving“ warrior - just to be complete. But yeah, the helmet gives away what kind of fig it will be. Careful high hopes for this one. - laser robot: expecting tron lines, maybe a transparent head, and an overall laser show aesthetic. And a laser gun. - animal control: Was hoping for an exterminator, but this could be OK. Looking forward to the possible skun mold, and its potential reuses as a squirrel and more. - wrestling champion: The only thing that intrigues me about him is the possible mullet. - dancer: Ballerina seems most likely. What else could recognizable and stereotypical enough? Fancy ball dancer? Tap dancer? Street dancer? Tango dancer (too risqué)? Belly dancer (even more)? Pole dancer (yikes)? - kendo fighter: Not excited. Expecting the Ninjago kendo helmet, anything else would be another wasted mold. - scary knight: Dunno what to expect, but I hope its good. An undead knight would be cool, in the style of Alexandre Boudons idea. - astronaut: As someone mentioned above, Im hoping for a retro sci-fi astronaut. Though he would go best with the collectively-reviled laser gun. I wouldnt mind a contemporary astronaut, buti dont see how he/she could be made much more different than those we get in city. - jewel thief: Like many others, hoping for a female in a catsuit. - concierge: Not sure what to expect here either - dont know if a concierge would have use for a mop.
