  1. It seems like for characters like Threepio and Vader Lego just wants to keep the same printing for the character and don’t bother making it specifically accurate to their costume in the source-material they’re depicting. Which is especially noticeable on Vader, where his torso technically matches none of the source material Vader has ever appeared in. (It’s the ESB/ROTJ armour with a green button instead of a blue one.) Although I guess, granted, I don’t think we’ve ever gotten a C-3PO based off of TCW/ROTS/TLJ/TROS, so we can’t really fault Lego there. Would’ve been better if this 3PO had gold legs though.
  2. Not a fan of the four-limbed Ortolan, but as long as we leave my boy Max with two limbs this is fine. Could be a sister species or something like that (I know that’s not how evolution works, but Star Wars has never remotely made sense from an evolutionary perspective). Figure looks good for what it’s representing though. While the shaping of the snout looks awful for Max Rebo and it would be a tragedy if they used it, there’s no way they can justify giving him a mould that has hair on it.
  3. That guy’s an actor. Alec Guinness or Harrison Ford couldn’t have cared less about Star Wars, but they still had some phenomenal and important performances for the franchise. Not every actor needs to be the biggest Star Wars fan in the world. Also, from all of the interviews and what other people have said about her, it seems like Leslye Headland cares about the lore and obscure Star Wars details more than any other showrunner we’ve gotten, aside from Dave Filoni.
  4. They can’t really be too worried about spoilers, since the sets come out on August 1st while the show comes out mid-September.
  5. The article is about Marvel movies, we haven’t seen any effect on Star Wars at all yet, especially the movies, since we’ve got at least 4 happening in the near future after an already 4.5 year drought. I can also imagine the movies would probably hinder the number of a bunch of show/experimental sets, since movies always tend to get a lot of sets associated with them. Also, Lego’s definition of experimental is probably like doing a couple Attack of the Clones/The Phantom Menace sets, or any sequel set whatsoever. Which would be appreciated, but source material-wise isn’t anything super out there.
  6. Absolutely. They’re somehow easier to find just showing up on my recommended on their own than actually searching for them.
  7. I’m pretty sure the figure they were talking about ended up being Young Leia and everyone was very confused with the hints. Also, if we’re skeptical of the more than 2 eyes thing, did we ever get anyone leak it being a creature build other than the person who said that? I can’t remember which rumour came first.
  8. If we only get the Éowyn and Witch King battle in a GWP, I am going to scream. That’s like the single set that I (and lots of other people) would care most about getting as a normal set.
  9. We do have at least one sequel fan. (If my username didn’t already give it away. :P)
  10. I was talking about Luthen’s cylindrical object that he has when he’s searched by the partisans. Which I did forget extended out to be a staff later in the show. Which makes it less likely that it’s a lightsaber in its current configuration and probably an electrostaff instead. I stand corrected, there are probably no lightsabers in Andor, but Luthen’s staff might be his old lightsaber hilt that he retrofitted into a staff.
  11. I mean there was almost certainly a lightsaber that did appear in Andor… But yeah, Cal Kestis showing up obviously makes no sense, and is not a thing Tony Gilroy would do.
  12. To be fair, characters like Leia or Peli Motto are both shorter than Nien Nunb and have normal minifig legs, so it would be weird for him to be given mid legs but not them.
  13. With the current rumours of 75392, I can’t imagine it’s Lola. It would be the same price and 124 more pieces than the BD-1 set. And BD-1 is quite a bit bigger than Lola in universe, and I don’t see the point of them making an oversized model of her. It could be that Lego decided to move Leia out of 75392 for some reason and she’s in the Sarlacc Pit set now for whatever reason, and 75392 is its own thing. Although I think it’s much more likely that Leia is still the anniversary figure in that set, someone (maybe Nien Nunb, probably not) is the anniversary figure in the Sarlacc set, and R2-KT doesn’t count as an anniversary figure. For real. It was cool when Lego showed the Yavin 4 model back in the day, because it’s a relatively simple build with no interesting minifigures, but teasing us with a figure we haven’t had since the year before I was born is really painful. Why could you not release a Zam Wesell in any of the years since then?
  14. I’m not buying the set, but I completely agree. It’s a real weird angle. I feel like it would look a lot better at a flat 90 degree angle, or if they tilted it to one of the sides rather than upwards. The pointing to the sky looks weird and would be difficult to fit on a shelf.
  15. The fact that we’re seeing this, and 4 years later still haven’t gotten a Zam since 2002 is painful. You couldn’t slot that set in somewhere since then?
  16. The black hair for Queen Amidala is a weird choice, but the Phantom Menace brickheads look great. (I guess they didn’t feel like making the moulds for the hair in dark brown?) The last time we got a pilot B1 was in January 2015 with the last Battle Droid Troop Carrier and the Vulture Droid micro fighter. Crazy to think it’s been 9 years since we got anything other than the unmarked B1s from the prequels. The only other variant we’ve gotten is the Kashyyyk/Rugosa variant over that time. Edit: Other than getting R0-GR in 2016 & 2017.
  17. For stuff like the TanBrickz/Republic Bricks Venator or the Raskolnikov AT-AT, yeah they are cheaper, but they’re also considerably smaller compared to their Lego counterparts, and are more expensive what you get. If you truly don’t care about the size of your UCS set whatsoever* then you can get these, but if you’re that kind of person is Lego really going to get you to spend $400 more for an exclusive snowtrooper commando torso? I’d argue in this very niche case, the minifigs don’t matter either way. Brickvault’s AT-AT has 600 fewer pieces than the Lego model, and the estimated cost of the parts included on their website is $1,500 USD. Which likely doesn’t include shipping, and is a testament to how in almost every scenario, MOCs and parting out sets on bricklink are going to be much more expensive for what you’re getting compared to a normal Lego set. *I’d argue the size, along with the accuracy, is the main draw of UCS sets. The UCS AT-AT doesn’t sell well because of how accurate it is, it’s because it’s minifigure scale and because of how massive it is. And if you wanted an AT-AT that large, it is considerably cheaper to buy it from Lego than bricklink.
  18. Can you please point me to where you’re finding these better display sets for cheaper than Lego sets? Because between the cost of shipping on bricklink, and the fact that the better looking models are more intricate with more pieces, driving up the price for the build’s imprint, I find it hard to believe you’re getting a better looking set at a comparable size for cheaper. Also, for this scenario we’ll act like your assumption is true and say that it is slightly cheaper to buy the parts for a model off of bricklink. I can’t imagine it would make a dent in the market whatsoever. The amount of people who buy UCS sets solely for the minifigs or the people who would rather build a MOC have to be a negligible amount of the target market for UCS sets. For 95% of people, it’s much easier to do and they’re more likely to spend money on buying a Lego set that comes in a box from a store rather than ordering the parts from a bunch of bricklink stores for a MOC they found online.
  19. Yeah, Skeleton Crew was originally supposed to come out last year before the Acolyte.
  20. How could they possibly censor it? The only thing I could see them changing is being cheap using a generic mould for her hair without the metal pieces. But I still don’t think that’s too likely.
  21. True. Also, for some reason I thought it was $60 USD instead of $90. Which would make buying 2 of them and the barge $940 CAD. But yeah, it’ll probably be cheaper to part out a second skiff on Bricklink or Bricks and Pieces, so that’ll be something I’ll look into when the set is revealed.
  22. It’s listed as $30 USD on LEGO’s website right now, so I don’t think that’s changing.
  23. $880 CAD for the full scene, 16 figures (plus 6 duplicates and a duplicate sarlacc) is rough and very hard on my wallet. Here’s hoping I can get some good value back from selling the gift with purchase.
  24. It’s really disappointing that this is all we’re getting, with seemingly none of the interesting non-guard patrons and only 10 figs. I’m glad I have my Ree-Yees and the Quarren stand-in for Tessek from Boba Fett’s Throne Room, but it would’ve been nice to get a Saelt-Marae “Yak Face” or J’Quille. Hopefully the one guard is indeed Barada, using the same bandanna mould that Vane used. But it is at least much better than the original rumour of 2 figs and no interior.
  25. Really weird decision to not include the hood or cape for Maul, especially because the figure selection is for a scene where he very notably has his hood and robe on. Not a huge deal, but a weird choice.
