This is amazing, you've really captured the essence here oo7! I just love all the fine detailing, and also the technique used to create roof on the white building deserves mentioning! *y*

In most fantasy literature (most notably LOTR) trolls are essentially described as big oversized brutes, whereas orcs are depicted as being roughly human sized. Not only that, "orc & troll" are just easier to say or type than "troll warrior & giant troll". So I completely agree with Batbrick on all accounts... even the fourth one this time! :-D P.S. Seeing which way the poll is going, I'd say most agree with Batbrick and myself.

Pins without friction will rotate no matter how you put them in, so I don't bother putting those in straight. But I am meticulous about the friction pins, as they are most used for connecting elements in stead of rotating, so they tend to stay in the same position.

Now why does that not surprise me at all :-D I hope you really enjoy your sets!

We have the St Martin festival as well, but without the processions. The kids do go round the neighbourhood (often with self made lantarns) ringing doors, singing special St Martin songs and then getting sweets. Among kids this usually turns into a contest about who gets the most sweets, but that's hardly surprising. It's actually kinda funny to see how, as the kids grow older, the texts of the songs grow less and less appropriate (to put it mildly) as they start to make up their own texts. X-D I too am very sad to see youngsters gradually losing touch with old traditions like St Martin in favor of more commercial events like halloween, but there's probably no way to prevent that from happening.

I actually e-mailed TLC about that, but the official answer was something like "We are not allowed to provide any information on sets that have not been officially released yet". |-/ Yeah right, the set has been released, but only in the US... We'll just have to keep an eye on S@H for the time being!

WOW, is this for real? 8-

In that case, I can't wait to find out what he's up to! X-D

Same goes for the Netherlands, halloween isn't really big here either. Although I've noticed it's gradually gaining popularity in recent years.

I think *yoda* meant that he's got quite some catching up to do since he has been without computer for.. how long exactly? I take it you'll get a replacement on monday *yoda*?

That might not be such a bad idea at all, a poll do decide once and for all how we're going to refer to the minifig and giant Trolls. So I second the motion! ;-)

Thanks for reviving the topic, the posters are really nice!!! Were they actually used somewhere?
-
That's not so bad... why not get both? ;-)

I couldn't agree more! It's nice to have knights and soldiers, but I'd also love to have some civilian sets! A civilian Castle line should at least include a farm, and a windmill, bakery and blacksmith would be nice too *sweet*
-
It's also available on S@H, but only in the US so far. Europe has to do without Dwarfs for a while longer, but I still have a little hope left that it will become available before december.

LEGO ofcourse!!!! LOL! :-D But kidding aside, I noticed you have an interest in Viking and Castle, so I'd recommend one or more nice sets from those themes. Especially with the Castle theme you can hardly go wrong, nearly every set of that line looks great! -

Monty Python I do know! Their movies are sometimes aired on Dutch television. Weird and funny are indeed the perfect words to describe them! :-D

You're quite right! The wiki article even states that the Japanese also had a military version made of lacquered hardened leather. How interesting, I've never heard of that one before! I always associated samurai with headgear similar to that seen in the LEGO Ninja theme.

Suddenly my modest collection seems a lot more impressive, LOL! And yes, it is indeed a nice little set! :-D
-
I've never seen it on any of the Dutch television channels, nor has anyone ever mentioned it to me before now... Which actually makes me wonder, how did you come to know TRHPS Stauder?

If you have no computer, how did you post this reply? :-D
