  1. As Matthew pointed out, it would be very hard choosing a band, since everybody has his or her own favorites. Therefore licensed sets wouldn't be practical in my opinion. The idea could still work if TLC were to create their own bands, like LEGODETH, RED HOT LEGO PEPPERS or LEGOCAT DOLLS :-D
  2. The person above me clearly does! (And so do I, from time to time)
  3. Thanks for explaining, it makes sense to me now! :-D Do you only use Photoshop or other programs as well?
  4. Another great interview, keep up the good work guys! :-D And I agree with Mutley, the clone helmets in episode 2 were nicer then those in episode 3 ;-)
  5. The person above me noticed the confusion of the persons above him. Why people still get confused in a totally nonsensical topic is beyond me. :-P
  6. Quote from Wikipedia: "It's a common myth that the color red is supposed to anger the bull, despite the fact that bulls are colorblind (the real reason that a red colored cape is used is that any blood stains on it will be less noticeable)" I think that answers your question quite nicely ;-) Brutal form of entertainment though, the bulls are wounded and weakened by loss of blood long before the matador enters the arena. Doesn't sound like a fair fight to me. |-/
  7. *wub* Love at first sight! Your steam powered flamethrower tank thingy is just superb!!! It's as steampunk as steampunk can get. And as others already mentioned, the smoke makes for a really nice finishing touch!
  8. Thanks for sharing Hinckley! I do have a couple of questions for you though. First of all, wouldn't it be easier for further use to simply merge the layers into one layer instead of linking them? I also noticed that you changed the opacity of the watermark before importing it to the target picture. Wouldn't it be more practical to change the opacity of the layer once it has been imported? That way it's easier to adapt the opacity settings to whatever looks good on that particular picture. Hope you don't mind the questions, just wondering about the reasoning behind some of your techniques. ;-)
  9. The person above me went off-topic in this thread, while staying on topic in the converation in this thread. Does that make sense? *wacko*
  10. Actually, I believe bulls are color blind... :-D
  11. You don't know Doctor Sinister? Shame on you! :-P But seriously, I'm surprised you don't know him, he has made several vignettes with some amazing lighting effects: Escape to the Cave Torture Chamber A Christmas Vignette Inside the Lair of Doctor Sinister
  12. This must be the most one sided poll I've seen so far, LOL. If Scala or other non-system parts can be put to good use in a MOC, why not? It's still LEGO after all :-D
  13. Wow, that looks awesome! The lights are a really nice addition to your MOC! *wub*
  14. The person above me must be extremely bored to be double posting in a thread like this :-P
  15. Compared to the slender top half, the bottom half seems a bit bulky to me. But other than that, it's a superb creation! As other members already mentioned, you've really managed to capture the Giger/Alien feel. Great job! *y*
  16. I really like the first matador, the jacket looks great! *sweet* And the bull is just awesome, especially since it's one of your first brick built animals. However, I would like to suggest that you make the torso a bit bulkier, and the legs a little less far apart. But keep the big horns, they are really intimidating ;-)
  17. So many great entries, I had a hard time choosing which I liked best! In the end I voted in favor of SW4J, when compared to the other (great) models, his just looked most like a pure bred racing machine to me: a tiny cockpit on top of some really big engines.
  18. I was going to suggest to replace the black plates with big slabs of brick built rock and to make the mine look a little less neat, but now I finally got around to posting some other guys already beat me to the punch. Other than that I think the concept of a multi layered mine is brilliant, and I love the overall look of your creation. So a big thumbs up from me! *y*
  19. Come on people, this contest is about having FUN! :-D And for those of you who are complaining about the fact that some entries are way bigger than the intended vig format, just remember that bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. If my vote would be influenced at all by the size of the entries, it would be in favor of those who kept within the specified size limits. But knowing myself I will probably cast my vote based purely on which entry shows the most creativity, both in concept and execution. And that will be hard enough in itself, since there are so many amazing entries! *y*
  20. Nice cruiser Orchestra, I like the asymmetry of the design! It could use some subtle greebs though, especially the top surface of the front section is a bit flat. But it has some great features as well, the engine configuration and the "proton beam" in particular stand out to me.
  21. You mean when a contest has a size restriction of for example 12 studs, it doesn't matter if the entry is 3x4, 2x6 or 1x12 studs, as long as it complies with the total number of studs? That is actually not a bad idea at all, it allows for a lot more freedom than the fixed 8x8 vig format.
  22. I think the new Castle line is great and well balanced, it's got something for everbody. On the one hand we've got the Crown faction, which is, judging from the design of the castle and the re-use of the old armour, helmet and weapon parts, really a big hint to Classic Castle. And on the other hand there is the Undead faction, which is completely fantasy based. The Skellies and Dragons may not appeal to all AFOLs, but I'm sure kids absolutely love them. Which means the sets will sell really well, which in turn means that TLC is more likely to continue the Castle line. Personally, I don't have any problems with the fantasy elements of the current Castle theme. To be honest, I'm actually quite looking forward to next years factions, I'd love to have Dwarves, Orcs and Trolls. However, I do agree with what most of you already have said: we definitely need more civilian sets!!! What good is it to have huge armies if there's nobody to protect, right? I think there's lots of potential for medieval town sets: blacksmith, bakery, tailor, windmill, lumbermill, lots of farms and ofcourse an inn. Ofcourse that would mean civilian minifigs, animals, tools, etc. I think that would be a great addition to the military sets we've been getting so far!
  23. Actually, I kinda like the reddish brown. Gives the ship a rusted/corroded appearance, which in my opinion suits the post apocalyptic theme quite well. *y*
  24. Well, in that "designers feedback" topic a while ago there was also talk of a 2008 special. But since the 2007 Dwarfs Mine special has just been released, it would be more logical to assume the 2008 special will be released at a much later date. As to what that special will be, we can only speculate. Although, in the same topic it was mentioned that during the inital design process several civilian models were created, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 2008 special is going to be a Castle Town set consisting of several (modular) civilian buildings. I for one would be very happy with some medieval civilians, it adds a bit more depth to the theme as a whole. Still, I definitely wouldn't mind a UCS Castle set either, especially when it's as well designed and detailed as Cafe Corner.
