Great story! I only got one question: what was in the spaghetti that killed the skellie? :-D
-
For me, it was a close call between Hewkii9, Vader and ZZ-80. I eventually chose Hewkii9, since I still like his entry just a fraction more than the others. SkeleSorting is a nice concept, and I'm kinda impressed he managed to make such a nifty MOC out of it while still sticking to the original vignette format. Still, all the finalists rightly deserve their place in the final voting round, as each of them created superb entries! Great work everyone! *sweet* *y*

That is too bad, I actually kinda liked the idea to be able to save my favorite topics for quick review.

The person above me explained it quite well! I feel kinda stupid now, should've known it was something like that :-$

The person above me is puzzled by the word "TPAM", and quite frankly, so am I! :-|

My thoughts exactly! :-D Even though I'm a bit late, a very happy birthday to you and also to Keith ofcourse! I wish you both the very best for the year to come!

Rahi are animal like creatures that inhabit the Bionicle Universe. In the original storyline Makuta infected their masks with his evil, turning them into his minions. There were five Rahi sets released with the original launch of Bionicle: Nui-Rama are large flying insects with slashing wings; Nui-Jaga are scorpion-like creatures with crushing tails; Tarakava are lizzard-like creatures with punching arms; Muaka & Kane-Ra are a tiger and a bull, both with extending necks and snapping jaws; Manas are giant crabs, radio controlled and with punching arms. You can find them all here.

That's a great scene DNL, very epic! *sweet* Poor Franks though, it looks like they're being slaughtered!

Waaaaaaay back in 2001 I stumbled across a certain online game, featuring robot-like figures and creatures. My world would never be the same. The story gripped me like no other story ever had, and soon I was completely hooked on this thing called Bionicle. I just loved the mystery filled world that had been created, with the cute little Tohunga, the Turaga village elders, and the great Toa-heroes fighting against monstrous Rahi which were controlled by an unseen evil. Soon I was buying the sets and I was amazed at how much fun the Rahi were, not only did they look really nice, they also had great action features. As we all know, Bionicle turned out to be a huge succes, and year after year new sets and new storylines were created. But none captured my imagination as the original storyline did, and with each new year less of the mystery and magic remained. However, with so many new and interesting parts added each year, building techniques have evolved considerably since the first year, and it has made me extremely curious what the original Rahi would've looked like if they had been designed with present day building techniques and parts. My question to my fellow EB members is: would you be interested in a "Pimp my Rahi" contest? The entries would have to be based directly on the original 2001 Rahi, including their action features like the punching arms of the Tarakava and the snapping jaws of Muaka & Kane-Ra, but redesigned using current parts and techniques.

Great use of that baseplate, it works really well on this MOC. *sweet*

Ahhhh that's cute!!! And very nicely built too, great work! *sweet* *y*

Just got one thing to add to all the glowing comments: MICROSCALE ON!!! ;-)

WOW, very impressive! I can see some great architecture like the walls and the windows, and the interior is just suberb. I just love all the little detailing you put in to make the scene complete. This MOC definitely gets a big thumbs up from me! *y*

That is just... WOW!!! :'-) Once again you've managed to produce an incredible MOC Rebelrock! The snow is a very nice touch, and the scene as a whole just looks amazing. As Asuka already mentioned, the facade of the main house is a nice technique that works beautifully in this MOC. The watchtower is also very nicely done, especially with those supporting chains. But the best part for me is the roof of the little shed, I would love to know what techniques you used to create that effect. *wub*

Your outdoor pictures never fail to impress, both in terms of layout and picture quality. These are again beautiful works of art! :'-)

Great concept with the before and after picture! I wish you the best of luck with the contest ;-)

Couldn't agree more! I'd love to see more of these techniques shared, discussed and improved on EB! *sweet*

Killing the Dead Contest Semi-finals POLL
TheFrisian replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Choosing which entry I like best has been nearly impossible since there are so many superb creations. Getting rid of skeletons by feeding the bones to a monstrous dog (LuxorV) or letting them slowly decompose (BatBrick) are brilliant ideas, and scaring them off with a D&D manual (Sinner) is just hilarious. But after much deliberation my vote for the first round of semi finals went to SirNadroj, his entry excels in both concept and execution. As for the second round of semi finals, there are several entries that caught my attention. Vader's idea of digging a hole and putting the skellies back where they belong excels in its simplicity, and the Reaper Industries Inc. assembly line (ZZ-80) is just a superb build. And then there is the SkeleSorting by Hewkii9, which I like very much. I also thought the SpongeBob entry by Lego-Freak was very funny, but it's the first three in particular I'm having a very hard time choosing from. Since I can't vote for all three, I think Hewkii9 gets my vote this time. Great work by all the contestants! You really made it difficult to choose this time! *y* -
That is soooo recognizable! I've got a lot of really old LEGO bricks covered with bitemarks (probably not mine though). I have also modified and painted spare/old parts in the past, with some interesting results. My favorite modification may be simple, but I still like it: a two handed sword made out of a silver broadsword and a lightsaber hilt. I'm surprised the glue still holds after all these years! X-D

A plastic like substance made out of milk and vinegar??? Really??? 8-

Hahahahaha, the second picture is just great!!! The person above me definitely succeeded in making me laugh! :-D By the way Sinner, from the looks of that I'd say you aren't getting any prettier, LOL! Or is it just a bad picture? X-D

I still think you pulled the sides of the blankets up one stud too far towards the head end of the bed, especially since the figures are sitting up. But other than that, I think these vigs are just loveable! And I like the 1x1 slopes you used instead of the tile in the second vig, they really look much better! *y*
-
I just love the chicken leg, never knew TLC had such a great sense of humor! :-D But this is still a preliminary picture right? I hope they keep the chicken leg in the final version!

WOW, that is a good looking vignette! I'm seeing a lot of features that I really like, so where to start? I assume the black construction in the background is supposed to be the silhouette of a window with curtains? It's simple but very effective! I also like all the creepy animals and the masked figure peering in through the window. But the best part by far is the bed, I really like the way you did the blanket! I do think you should make the blanket one stud shorter though, at the moment it looks to me like the blanket continues beneath the pillow and the minifig sits in a hole in the middle. And I don't know if it's just me, but the tile on top of the blanket seems to stick out quite a bit. Perhaps you could replace it with 1x1 slopes, or raise the adjacent rounded pieces one plate to give the appearance that the blanket has been pulled back a bit (although, that would make the blanket even shorter). Overall I think this vig is of a very high standard and I really like the looks of it. Keep up the good work! *y*

You don't need to. I haven't got a creditcard either, but I was still able to use paypal. You just have to transfer money from your regular bank account to your paypal account. The transfer may take a couple of days (nearly a week in my case), but when the money has finally been added to your paypal, it's actually quite easy to use.
