Thank you guys for liking my collection, i hope this Christmas it will get bigger . I must agree with you Jim, sets do look nicer with the stickers on. I don't have any problems putting them on, because i keep all my sets for display only and i must say that all stickers are in mint condition although some sets are a few years old (stickers on 8285 are perfectly fine, none of them started to peel off).

So, maybe this is not the right topic to ask you guys this, but can anyone post a picture of 42009 next to 8258 or 8285 ? I want to know if they are the same size. Thanks in advance !

Freekysch replied to dokludi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Aren't the 2 back wheels a little far apart from each other ? Otherwise, very good work. I think i will buy this model. -

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
Freekysch replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hy there, i would like to join the Reviewers Academy group so i can improve my review making skills. I already posted 2 reviews on some Town sets, but i think i have a lot more to learn from you guys. I have a DSLR camera and i buy sets from time to time (mostly Technic, but i think that will not be a problem). Thank in advance ! -
8053 is a nice set, but nothing special about it. Although, 8069 is a real beauty, has so many functions, i love it (for its price i love it even more ).

Technic Re-Issues - Why Not?
Freekysch replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't know what to say about reissues of some old sets, but i would like to see a new versions of some old Technic flagships like 8285, 8275. -
I have to admit that i'm starting to like the Container Truck a lot more than the first time i saw it. The new tires really change the looks of it. Beside that, i can't say i will buy any of the first wave sets, the plane looks too white (so to speak, there is no salt and pepper to it). The Hot Rod is nice also, but i don't know if i will buy it or not.

The Flatbed truck is already very hard to get, i tried to get my hands on it but no luck, for a MISB one you will pay alot (maybe you will still find it in some stores that have it on their inventory, if so, you can consider yourself lucky). Same as Jim, i'm not the biggest fan of 8110, but still it is a great set and maybe a must have, and you can still get it at a very good price. I like the Logging Truck 9397 also, it has a very nice design ! Even compared to 8285, side by side, 9397 still manages to looks good.

42024 Replica by dokludi
Freekysch replied to dokludi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Have to admit, looks better than i imagined, i may just buy it. The cabs design looks poor, but overall, it is a nice little set (thanks god it comes without PF, but too bad it does not have Pneumatics). Well done Dokludi ! -
From the last decade must-haves i will buy when i'll can get them at a decent price (where i live there is no Lego Store and shipping is expensive): 42009, 8275, 8109 and 8455. I know 9396 is a very good set, with a great price, but i'll have to think about it, because i'm not the biggest fan of helicopters or planes.

I didn't buy the set over bricklink, bought it from a friend but i didn't know that they were two versions of it. I'm glad to hear that. I really do not mind that i gt the version without silver wheels, it would have been nice to get it thou. Maybe i'll buy them off bricklink someday if i feel like it. However, i am very satisfied with this set, too bad all of my display cabinets are full and o have no place for it (now i have to buy additional storage space ). This year has been a good Lego year, got 8258 and 8285 too (beside 42000, 42007, 42006). I have another question: what other sets from the last years are a mush-have for a Technic collector ? This are the sets i own, so you can get an idea of what i have.

Actually i managed to get my copy of 8285 at 110 euro and built it last night. What can i say (beside my sore fingers ), i enjoyed this set, love the design (which is a bug plus for me, because all of my sets go on display), looks beautiful next to 8258 Crane Truck but yes, i admit that is has very limited functions. One thing that i like is the pneumatic system (first set that i own with pneumatics), too bad it is very limited. I have only one complain, my set has no metallic silver wheels, only normal ones . Here is a picture of it next to his brother.
-
Well, don't worry Jim, everyone make mistakes, we are humans . About the set, i see non of you really lime 8285 tow truck, but i think i will buy it because i found it at 130 euro and maybe if i skip this deal, i will regret later. Hopefully it is not such a bad set, i will post a review after i get it. Perhaps it will sit nice in my display case near his brothers 8258 and 9397 (all made by my favorite designer, UW). If it wasn't for the very good price, i would have bought 42009 for sure.
-
Sooo, i have the oportunity to buy or the 42009 crane or the 8285 tow truck, but i must decide fast. What should i get ?
-
Actually i think there are lots of models in the same scale just looking at my display case. All the big trucks (over 1100 pieces +) from he last years are in the same scale. 8258, 9397 are in the same scale, i think 8285 is the same with these too. But the list can go on: 8043, 8265, 8069, 8258, 9397, 42006 are in the same scale, IMHO.
-
To be honest, i really like 9397, it has a nice design but i am sure it will not be as beautiful as 8285. I promise i will make some photos when i will have both sets. When i got into Technic, 2 years ago, i was all about construction equipment, but when i got 8258 Crane Truck i decided to collect all Technic trucks. Quite an expensive hobby ...

First of all, i am sorry if such a topic exists, and if so, plecase close this one. I was wondering what set do you intend of buying in the near future, or perhaps what would you like to buy. For me, it is set 8285 Tow Truck, i hope i will get it by the end of this month so i can complete my truck collection made by UW (9397 and 8258 i already have).
