He looks around, "Still in the void, aren't we? Though, just how far we got... not a clue." Just had a last minute invitation to go camping for the holiday weekend. I might have service, but it'll be from mobile so just assume I'm okay with whatever the group does, if I don't reply in a timely manner.

Arx finally finds his own way past the monster's defenses, reinvigorated by his success. The duo repeat..
-
Thormanil and Arx both attack the Left Claw from the Front row.
-
Arx continues to butt his head against the wall, repeating his attack.. Satisfied with his own success so far, Thormanil, too, repeats.
-
The duo come crashing down on the Right Claw, with Arx confused as to why this giant thing wasn't even phased by his blast of cold. Determined, he tries again.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
swils replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
And yet, somehow it's the Dragoon's availability that is being called into question! -
Grabbing his Dragonsbane Lance, Thormanil jumped right into the action, attacking the right claw from the front row. Arx followed suit. "Guess even magic travel isn't safe." Oh, almost forgot. Arx being labeled as *Lucky* was a carry-over from the end of my last quest, and my sloppy copy/paste of my stats. He shouldn't be lucky.
-
Thormanil nods and Arx approaches the gate with curiosity.

Thormanil and Arx arrive at the marketplace, and sell the following: To Anwyl: Crossbow (WP:5) (25g), Schoolyard Sword (WP:8, greatsword) (40g), Notched Greatsword (WP:5) (25g), Throwing Knife (WP:3)x2 (15x2=30g) To Fabian: Fighting Boots (100g), Pugilist's Gloves (40g), Jeff's Goggles (20g)* They then head to Portia's and buy: Phoenix Essence (-50g), Smelling Salts x2 (-25x2=-50), and Elixir x2 (-40x20=-80g) 1899 + 120 + 160 - 180 = 1999 remaining *"Jeff's Goggles" are identical to "Goggles" in stats, figured they'd be the same price.

"A mind- what now? Hell, it just gets better." He rummages through his things, pulling out a bottle that gleamed as the light hit it. Handing the Bright Polish to Arthur, he continues, "I heard you were askin' after this stuff. Least I can offer ya in return, though I dunno what it's even for. Better to give it to ya now, in case I don't... Well, I'm sure we'll cross paths again." He pauses, then as he turns back to the door, "For Bluto."

Thormanil looked around for Arx; he had flown off on his own to explore the Hall. Eventually, he spotted the dragon down a hallway and summoned him over. The two began making their way towards the doors, perhaps to stop at the marketplace before meeting with the rest of the party. As he walked, he wondered if anyone else in this group had dealt with her before. They would want to be prepared... Baba was not to be taken lightly.

"Too long! I've, well, been lurking here. I needed to clear my head after nearly butchering an entire village in my last fiasco of an outing. And you? What's this about your last visit?"
-
"We can cross that bridge if we come to it."
-
Nope, just been biding my time for this particular quest ever since Sandy teased it earlier this year. And yeah, that would have made for a much more fluid transition/lead in to your costume than simply... having it happen, heh. See quest asking for elves, try to get mask, get told no, try the next best thing.
-
"Ulric? You mean to tell me someone's pulling Baba's strings? I'll just have to see about that myself." Turning again to Lind, this time actually noticing his costume, he can't help but to laugh out loud. "Seems we're thinkin' the same way, though I don't think those rubber ears'll get you very far. As for the mask, sorry but I'll be takin' any advantage I can get over there, and if that means paradin' myself around as an elf, then so be it."
-
"Well, there's ways around that, y'know." he dons one of his masks, briefly appearing as an elf. "Besides, there's bigger things for them to worry about than how your bag of bones is still walking around."
-
Well played, Endgame, having Sorrow wanting to go on your own quest, haha. Lends nicely to the separation between player/character.
-
His thirst for vengeance boiling over his sense of tact, he turns on the new voice, "Sightseeing be damned! Calling yourself a hero but backing down from this monster.. Bah!"
-
Thormanil growls and reaches for Lind's loose hanging collar. "Sit down and shut up, foxer," he scoffs as he says the title, "There's plenty of us chompin' at the bit for a chance to end Baba, and you're a fool to think otherwise."
-
Thormanil grumbles. Every day this hunt was delayed was a day in Baba's favor. Though he doubted half the "heroes" on this list knew what they were in for; what they were truly hunting. The witch was an abomination, heartless and as self-serving as they came. Bluto... He would, if nothing else, have his revenge.

So what you're saying, just as I'm reading it, is that you purposely sidestepped a mechanic (character race) in order to better your chances at getting into a quest, because you're impatient? You really should have just left it at "I'm playing a disguise-based character because I think it's a fun twist." Lol
-
/shrug, maybe I'm just being a stick in the mud, but I just think it's selfish to take something that is pretty unique to a set of artifacts, and then go ahead and make it your own free trait. Like, if you want to RP that you're a man of many faces, then go through the effort to actually acquire those faces. It's akin to having an exdragoon's dragon do something for them when they don't actually have a dragon according to the rules. Ultimately though, yes, I suppose it is up to individual QM's.
-
I don't particularly have a problem with it, especially if he's dedicated to the idea of it being a really, really bad, as he said, comically bad, costume. If it gets roleplayed beyond "Well, maybe in the dark he could pass for an elf", then I'd say that it's beginning to step on the toes of the disguise-mask artifacts. Things like that exist for a reason.

Just beware of the possibility of losing some of that text formatting if/when it gets copied from the page instead of the editor. And beware of trying to use your new "elf" appearance to benefit from, say, that shield that shares defenses with elves. *shakes head*
