  2. Hello Eurobrickers !! I had the fortune to pick up the new 10227 B-Wing at my local Toy'sXL ( former Toys'r'us here ) !! Even more fun was the fact that I got a 25 % discount, pricing it down to a price I was accepting to pay.... but was it worth it ?? First I want to thank JunkstyleGio for lending me his table and Fotocamera and putting up with me for an evening !! Please accept my apolegies because I have some trubble with linking and placing pictures, so I just want to give my thoughts and ideas on this model and not give any review of sorts, perhaps in the future . http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=525589 main page . The build is in 10 main steps, many , many baggies, instructions and DSS with carton separate . First off, we start by building the engine section : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808541. I started without looking at the instructions and didn't see I had to build 2 simular sections, usely I build such sections at once , but okay, taken for granted. The problem here is the hinge sections, quite wobly, doesn't take much to get loose, and when the section is finished, a pain to get back in place. My tiles are slightly curved, so it does not give a straight line. Then we start with the the section that holds the cockpit : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808544 See the gap in the front ??? Get used to it !! I tried pushing them together, redo the section, nothing helps.... Gap stays . We go over to the next step : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808548 , the main wing ... the thing that makes the model !! Remember the gap ?? Yes ?? Okay, we have that here to, instead of placing a bracket in the middle somewhere , the back doesn't have much to hold it together.. Sad , because the front is almost perfect... Almost... 3 air intakes with white in it , should be black . We go over to the "main" gun, small build, nothing really spectaculair, fun to do ! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808552 We've taken the trubble of making a lot of picture's after each step and after this section I was really suprised to see the model balanced out very nice : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808554 Be very carefull though !! the cockpit section ..http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808560 Well... to small ?? the windshield does not do it for me... It feels like almost Minifig scale, has a fault in the building description , has very poor gyro system ( works with gravity... I guess our gravity here in Holland is off, because the system does not go flying around like crazy, its very lazy ... could have been lots better !! Last items on the list are the 2 smaller wing and the stand. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5808574 . These being the most concern to me... and most frustating ! .. The 2 wing don't get the SNOT Technique like the main wing... Really LEGO ?? They do the job, thats it !! I think the wings should be redone, reworked, do it all over !! How much more trubble is it ??? we both agreed that this should be the best part, leaving it like this ... We had it on the display and we both had the idea that there is a lot missing . ( sorry for the rant, this was most of it ) The stand is nice enough... take good care of the position , do it wrong and the model stays on the ground .. I pushed the pins on the "lying down " beam back by 2 , the wing is more steady and of the ground like that ( not in this picture ) , I just came up with that. So , I didn't aply the DSS, Why ?? Because I think there to little orange dots in the DSS, 3 more had done the trick IMHO. Well, I had fun building the model, the lack of a landing gear has me a bit troubled, at this price range I want full options !! At first glace its a great grey model, but don't look to close, some colours start popping up !! Red, yellow and tan creep up and started annoying me after a while. The cockpit is off, weapons were not that much, needs to be re-done aswell Pearl gold ?? Hmmm . I think its a great model, after a overhaull !! The 2 smaller wings shout out they need work done , the main wing needs some kind of bracing in the back , the colours should be replaced with dark gray, black or gray and the stand does not give the model it real potential !! well, that's it folks ! IMHO this sweet model does not take the icing on the cake, a good overall model to be put on the shelf, to be left alone and not to be taken under close scrutiny.. I guess this model was a bit of a stephchild I would do it different , and I'm going to to that, starting with a new stand, rebuild the smaller wings, see if I can do something about the cockpit and work out all the colours . And work out the gaps . Don't take all the negative from me, I love the model, but it deserves better !! Grtz Saint
  3. Well, I live about 2 hours of driving from the nearest LEGO-Store, so I have to make due with " normal " resellers. I would give an arm and a leg to have a brand store here in the Netherlands, just to get my hands on the Pick-a-brick. Special sets and polybags are so hard to come by here. Luckely a new store dedicated to LEGO was opened here in Breda , saving up to 5 € per set , bigger sets sometimes even more. And yes, that hurts the wallet sometimes ! grtz Saint
  4. This looks very nice ! Love to see more variants of this !!
  5. Well, I'm a LEGO-zombie then I've got most of the SW sets and I try to collect all the SW-figs , build a Clone army , buy as many sets possible, hoard loads of pieces, get mad when the term "LEGOS" falls , and I try to infect as many people in my area as I can !! On the other hand I plan and build a lot of other stuff , do have a job and sorts of a social live besides LEGO . I'm quite happy !! I see your point , trying to give us a "eye opener" , and , I know that LEGO makes a lot of profit per set, that said, they use a lot of that money to give us more sets and parts !! For a fact , LEGO is not the only option open to me, I buy cheap when I can , Bricklink a lot ( and try to limit myself ) . ( Has anyone seen the trend on Bricklink that you want more of a certain part , it's getting more expensive ?? ) , and actively search rummage sale, bootsale's , hoarders anonymous and fleamarkets here in the Netherlands. So, as a LZ ( LEGO-Zombie ) I try not to spend as much as I can , but try to get the best for my buck ( Dutch preferb : Voor een dubbeltje op de eerste rang zitten . = as cheap as possible ) . I do hate the " themed licenced part " in sets, that is what makes them expensive ! In the whole of the USC- MF there perhaps 3 parts that are exclusive to the set, not counting the figs , the rest is availible , but sellers take those parts and make them more expensive from the minimum quantities !! ( IMHO ) Grtz Saint
  6. This is a sweet looking gas station !!
  7. fragging assome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I speak English, the writing is a whole other ballpark . You can count me in !!
  9. euro members Okay (not ok-ey) too ??
  10. You've got my interest !! After building my version of a CTT , I realised it was to small ( go figure , it barely fits in my car ) , and started planning a slightly bigger one . I see a lot of ideas and I think I can learn a thing or 2 of your model . There a lot of numbers on the internet about the size of the "Juggernaught" (or CTT for short ) and in my personal opinion, I think it's still a bit small , but don't let me spoil the fun !! Good luck with building and I hope to see a lot more picture's !! grtz Saint
  11. I started doing shows back in 2002, and right now I trie to do 1 show a year for my local LUG, namely BeLug . Those guys are lots of fun and make it really worth while for me !! Public wise I had my share , fun people , nasty one's and everything inbetween ! I never ever lost a brick to a member of the public, even doing LEGOWorld from 2002 till 2006, it's a lot of stress, wearing you down to the bone, but totaly worth it !! Meeting new people and bonding with other members is great !! Each meeting I have feels like coming home , Xmass and my birthday . Lots of fun !! So YES ! you should do it, take the effort of meeting up with your LEGO-peers and have fun !! Mayby you're the next president of your local LUG !! grtz Saint
  12. AFOL , SMAFOl.. like tomato's and tometo's.... I collect SW figs and build, and to add to that, I collect Blacktron I figs and add the differend heads I can find , right now I have about 300 differend heads on the figs. So yeah ! you're AFOL ! grtz Saint
  13. Welcome Stinky ! Always nice to see an AFOL from the Breda area ! I work in Breda and live in O'hout . Hope to see more of your collection /MOC's soon .
  14. I think this part is not supposed to be separated .
  15. no more a thriller/ slasher film
  16. The incline has to start at 1 plate, after that, 2/3 plates is fine, as for the weight of the train , with 9 volt system a double moter will take at least 5 wagons up. I remember that we did a 20-30 wagon train with some extra moters and that did run perfect. The first plate is just for the support, at the third track you can start by using technic 1x16 breams underneath. the real challange lies in the fact that the whole of the incline will be this : Let's say you want to go up 20 bricks = 20x3 plates = 60 plates . For every track 2/3 ( after the fist track that is 1 plate ) so after that 60 plates will result in 30 track pieces ( please correct me if I'm wrong ) So that will result in a LOT of straight piece's .. problem with curves lies in the fact that at one point the track has to cross over itself, then the weight will have an issue if you want to take a full train over it.. a engine by itself can run over everything without problem.. so the best way ?? I'll leave that up to more clever guy's grtz Saint
  17. That is almost true. The incline for a track is 2/3 Brick, or 2 plates per. So to get the proper slope or incline , just calculate this, You can include curves as well . In this URL you can see a white slope build : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=262200 , the other side was build with bricks at the same incline, I cannot find any pictures sadly, that was my first LEGOWORLD. If you want to search, just type in legoworld 2002 , perhaps you can find something. Good luck !!
  18. Let me be the first one to say : this is a avarage set . For me the figs are not that great, The few cheese and other slopes in the new green on the other hand are a total win !! I hope the price here in the Netherlands will be around € 10 , More than that ... nah... not worth it. Can you add a picture of the parts layed out ?? grtz Saint
  19. Well... my first idea was : Great !! I like the concept ( Mos Eisley is underrated ) , but I still have some remarks . First off : No more droids !!! And second : the cantina band , liking it, but 5 figs ? in one set ?? Nobody is going to buy them in multiples, so 1 band member in a set ( die-hard will buy 5 sets ) and some more other visitors or troopers.. I really like the drawings btw, very original and I can see something like this really happening.. Perhaps you should merge it in one set, a big play set, with lots of stuff happening . Good luck on Cuucuu !!
  20. How about Galaxy Marines ???
  21. I , amongst many people were able to see this on saturday 26 of november , on the BELUG meeting ! I kept looking at this amazing piece of work ! The details were mindblowing and I hope to see more of you guys in the future, as simple as that ! I hope the advise I gave you helps you out a bit grtz Saint
  22. + 1 for adreva11 thnx !!!
  23. Welcome to Eurobricks, Dick ! Don't forget about our Belgian club , BeLug ! They do a heck of a lot more than the "bouwsteen" on the MOC-side of LEGO. grtz Saint
  24. Dude, You get to show yuor model for half a year, and I hope that your name will be present on display . GO FOR IT !!!! not much builders have the oppurtunity to do this, and the builders that do, do it hush hush. It's not very nice of them not to give you some kind of payment ( at least some LEGO in return ) , but I would jump at the chance to do this. grtz Saint
