Auction of large Lego collection
Yoggington replied to RH_Temporary's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Goodness, sealed monorails, 4x copies of UCS Darth Maul .. this is some collection. I can already feel how much I can't afford this. Even the fees have my wallet trembling. -

I always enjoy a good dive into the depths of the geometry of a shape. Following with interest! -
2026/27 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Yoggington replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I figure Lego have somewhat revealed their intentions with the re-use of the Griffin torso here. I imagine it'll be around for a long time and re-used for many different factions. I'm okay with that, it's nice to have something more generic that can be mixed in with the more specific knights. -
My second comment of the night where I'm drawn to the butterflys first. That little idea for the case is very clever. Not something I've ever thought of, despite displays of that type not being unusual in real life. The curtain rod is a wise solution, although the curtains themselves don't seem quite as polished as the rest of the build. e.g. the tiling on the floor, the front of the desks, the lecturn are all thoughtfully detailed. The window with the sneak peek at the outdoors is just the icing on the cake.

Guilds of Historica New Member Guide

Do note it's size of the file, rather than dimensions. So if you wanted it to be more of your avatar and not so close on your face, you could do that and just compress the file down. You'd lose sharpness instead of cropping it. -
All true of some stickers, and all potentially a dealbreaker for some people. BUT, not really my point. If the goal is to put the sticker count on the box, then that is one thing. If it's to eliminate stickers from premium sets then that is quite a different matter. This petition is a mess. Unlikely that Lego would care even if it was well-formed, but this is the end result of having AI write a lengthy post and not even reviewing it. It's completely half-arsed! The title of it is only "Require LEGO to Disclose Stickers on the Box and Online!" (2 demands) By the midpoint of the petition it's three ("Our Demand to the LEGO Group:" ..<snip>.. "We urge LEGO to implement three simple changes globally:" (Stickers Included Notification / Minimize Stickers in Premium Lines / Digital Transparency on LEGO.com) By the end it's morphed again to four "core demands" (now includes instruction manuals). If they are so core, why do they keep changing?

In that case, you need to amend your petition. Right now it has three stated aims: Clear Box Disclosures Minimize Stickers in Premium Lines Complete Digital Transparency on LEGO.com I can see how item #3 is an extension of #1. But #2 is a whole different request. I'd be very set against item #2. I don't want less stickers/more prints. I want them to shave as much cost off of premium products while still keeping them premium, and imho, stickers are a very easy way to achieve that. If I take an example of an already expensive set that comes with a buttload of stickers - say the new Arkham Asylum. It's already overprices at €300. It's got a lot of stickers in. If these were all prints, I could easily see this jumping to €350. I don't want that. And as for just removing all those neat details /references the stickers bring .. well I don't want that either. While I'm not really a fan of #1, I don't see much harm beyond the box becoming more cluttered. I don't collect boxes, so I don't mind - I just don't see much tangible benefit. To play devil's advocate, it's always useful to take an argument to the extreme. If it's about 'a consumer's right to know what's in the box', then why isn't the parts list printed on the outside? That'd be ridiculous right?

How do you feel about the state of BrickLink lately?
Yoggington replied to Creating17's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do like the four 2x2 tile icons (although they are really stretching it with the 'meaning' behind each, reads like absolute codswallop). I hope if these are really going to be the four pillars moving forward, they are ready to put some serious work into the Community quadrant. It's lagging way behind in terms of professionalism. An occasional monthly theme for a competition, and a forum from the early 2000s just don't match up with the other three pillars. The general idea & unified look is fine. However, the way they've done the L in BrickLink really irks me for some reason. It looks more like an underscore - Brickl_ink or BI_. Is it the proportions of the brick only being two plates tall causing it? I'm unsure. They also seem to have abandoned the idea of Stud.io being Stud dot io and now is just 'Studio', without any mention of why. That was a very clever naming method, but it's been dropped without mention. -
God this whole thread is horrible to read. When every post is AI-generated effusing praise onto every argument I can't take it the slightest bit seriously. Are you even a real person or just some bot programmed to drum up online rage over a non-issue? (inb4 "haha, great point, you've got me bang to rights, how observant of you"). In the spirit of hoping for the best (out of a brand new account that reads like a spam bot). No, I don't see the need for this on a lego box, nor would I want it. There is enough clutter on there as it is. I see this as somewhere between the meekest of first-world problems and the moronic 'do not microwave' labels that some boxes had to have a while back. If this is really such an issue for you, just go find out from any of the hundreds of sources available. Hell you can just ask Gemini and it will do it for you. I promise you, even if you have to do this for every set you buy for the rest of your life, it will take less effort than the amount it would take to actually get the change you are talking about implemented.

2026/27 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Yoggington replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It's a nice little set, but not a oh-I'd-better-drop-€180-in-a-hurry set. Funny how they re-used the Griffin torsos, only last week I was swapping out Griffin torsos for different colour arms to see if I could re-use it with a different factions. -
This is really lovely. Lots to like here - but I especially like the way you set the white pillars up so that you can have just the tip of the curve coming out in the centre.
