  1. No, I did not intend to depict a face I didn't even see it till now.
  2. Thanks, glad to hear it. I'll soon update the instructions for the slim outland cockpit to replace two of the pins with axles. Unless I can get rid of the pins entirely, which I'm not sure about yet.
  3. While not the biggest anime fan, I have always loved the show "Last Exile". The Diesel-Punk aesthetic and the cool setting always appealed to me. Not to mention the clever story. So eventually, I had to design this vanship, even if it's certainly a fringe topic. Instructions are here on Rebrickable in case anybody is interested.
  4. Thanks everyone. Regarding the two cockpit styles, the large cockpit is of course closer to the real thing in terms of scale, but I also like the sleek look of the slim one. That's why I kept both. Though I have to say, having built both in real life, I think the large cockpit works quite well in person. Below are some actual photographs with the interceptor having the slim cockpit and the TIE fighter having the large one. Personally, I am however most proud of the Defender, just because of the engineering difficulties I had to overcome and how well everything came together in the end, it was just a blast to build. I'll need to also create a second version though. The solar panels on the Defender were styled after the promo renderings of EA's Star Wars Squadrons game. When the Defender hit the actual game, the design had changed a bit though. The panels are now a bit shorter with a slightly different shape. I do like the pointy panels on the initial design, but maybe the shorter panels will also make the whole thing a bit less unweildy.
  5. Thank you. I'm using Pixelmator Pro, but really any halfway decent image editor can do it.
  6. As I've mentioned before, I want to share some of my designs. The majority of which are actually different types of TIE starfighters. Here, I want to collectively present all the TIEs that I've designed so far, all of which are published on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/?tag=14865&include_accessory=on&include_bmodel=on&include_subset=on
  7. Thanks. Regarding your questions: I previously did a "proper" A-Wing MOC which this one is based on. I'll post my non-crossover MOCs soon. The way I got the little gap was by having the two sides sit on axles only, two on each side. In the middle I have panels preventing them from sliding in all the way. As for the Starfighter X, I actually didn't think about using an old school robot. That's actually a great idea. I'll look into that, though on the X-Wing it might be a bit tricky. On the Y-Wing, it shouldn't be an issue though.
  8. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback, I do appreciate it.
  9. Hi, since I'm relatively new here, I figured I'd post some of the stuff I've been doing during COVID lockdown (mostly Star Wars related). I don't mean to spam this forum, so I figured I'd create only a few new threads over the next days where I collect some of my designs thematically, starting with this one. I've recently started to get into Neo Classic Space. I wanted to design the sets I would have craved as a kid. The results are these Star Wars / Classic Space mesh-ups. Instructions to all of them are up on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/?tag=15887&include_accessory=on&include_bmodel=on&include_subset=on PS.: If you dig Classic Space, please consider supporting my NEO GALAXY EXPLORER over on the Lego Ideas Platform. I have opened a separate thread for it over here: Galaxy Starfighter X Galaxy Starfighter A Galaxy Starfighter Y Twin Engine Laser Craft Polaris I Speeder BOW Starfighter Ice Dune Speeder All Terrain Magnetizer
  10. Thank's to everybody for your encouraging words, I really do appreciate it. @Fuppylodders: You make a good point. I need the gap for the opening mechanism of the cockpit and I added some greeble underneath to give it more of a purposeful look, but it should be possible to make the slopes behind removable. It shouldn't really affect the structural integrity. The more play features the merrier. Only issue is that there probably won't be a lot of space underneath, but maybe I can design a tiny, foldable probe satellite or something along those lines...I don't know, I'll have a look. Thanks for the input.
  11. I love it. Must be the sexiest UPS Truck ever. Ordering the parts won't be cheap, but I think I'll go for it eventually. I love the ship and I love the MOC. Too bad that in the show the Razor Crest is no more...
  12. I created the backgrounds in a regular image editor. Personally, I'm using Pixelmator Pro, but any odd image editor will do. Photoshop is of course the best, but I don't plan on paying Adobe prices and for stuff like this it really doesn't make a difference. If you have any specific questions, I'm glad to help, but going through the entire process would probably be too much for now. The short version is: I created the grid by using geometrical shapes, and distorted them to give it the appearance of having depth. I did some more fine tuning (like blurring parts, etc.)
  13. My most recent purchase was the Trouble on Tatooine set, I did however only get it for Beskar Mando. Instead, I built my own speeder bike: In case you like the design, I've made the instructions available for free on my Rebrickable page: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-58554/thomin/mandos-corellian-speeder-bike/#details
  14. Since I've recently picked up two large boxes from my parent's attic containing my old Classic Space sets, I've also started to design models in the spirit of the old Classic Space theme. I started with Classic Space / Star Wars mesh-ups (see here if you're curious), but then I wanted to do an homage to my favourite Classic Space set and here's the result: Unfortunately, my vision contains parts that use colours that Lego doesn't currently have in its inventory. So I had two choices, either to compromise on my design in order to make a regular MOC or to shoot for the stars and enter it on the LEGO Ideas platform...as the title indicates, I opted for the latter: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/2a57e5ea-cf61-4129-b4ac-b09fe3d15107 As you can see, I wanted to modernise the design with more curves, slopes and tiles while keeping the classic look & feel, the clean, sleek appearance and as many features as I could. Also, Classic Space sets usually had dope play features, so it was important for me to also include some kind of gimmick, which is the fully detachable shuttle in the back: Two ships in one! Here are some more pictures: So if you like it, I'd appreciate it if you followed this link and support the entry so that this set can be made into a reality. Cheers.
  15. Wow, very inspiring. I love the details. The wheat-field is brilliant: So simple, yet so convincing. I'll probably borrow some ideas for projects to come. And of course I'm a sucker for Diesel-Punk and Steam-Punk. So the Iron Harvest theme is right up my alley.
  16. Love it, one of my favourite cars of all time. Such a beautiful machine, such a beautiful build.
  17. Hi everybody, I'm Thomas or Tom for short. I've only recently returned to the world of bricks and am quite new to the AFOL sphere. My Lego story began as a kid in the 1980s with a couple of Classic Space sets. I collected all kinds of Space sets and as I got older moved on to first Model Team and then Technic. All of which I tended to heavily mod of course. At some point in my teens my love for Lego was superseded by other things and I didn't build bricks for more than 20 years. Fast forward to the COVID-Lockdown when a co-worker motivated me to get back into building Legos. But I was soon bored by most existing sets and continued where I left off as a teen and began designing MOCs. Nowadays, that's of course a lot easier with the software solutions out there and I quickly built up a library of MOCs. As my love for Space sets has not gone away since I was a kid, my current MOCs are all Star Wars and/or Classic Space related, though I'm currently also looking to go into modular buildings, in particular, I want to design a medieval city which unlike most medieval buildings is not supposed to have the "rotten medieval" look but a cleaner look. But it's still early days for that project. In case anybody is interested, you can have a look at my current MOC portfolio on my Rebrickable page here: https://rebrickable.com/users/thomin/mocs/ Incidentally, that Rebrickable page is also how I found this forum as it showed up in my analytics as a source for clicks. Somebody must have linked to one of my MOCs on here. So I went over here, had a look and was intrigued by this AFOL community, hence why I signed up. Apart from designing and building MOCs I have just started another project, namely restoring my old sets. Just before Christmas I picked up two large boxes with my Lego bricks from my parents' attic and now I'm going through each model one by one, cleaning the bricks, re-ordering missing pieces and building them up again. The first set which I restored was the 928 Galaxy Explorer, next up will be the Alien Moon Stalker. Below are some pictures of my builds. I'm looking forward to many positive interactions with all of you.
