Funny review from one of my favourites:

The white printing on the 2015 blue coat torsos isn't perfect either. People are just being needlessly nitpicky with this particular set it seems. I don't think you'll see a large difference between 2015 blue coats and 2023 blue coats. Although I do agree that Lego should have better quality printing on their torsos in general.

Thanks! Now I don't have to care about a certain user anymore.

What an absolutely moronic question.

Ok, so here's my take on the set. Is it everything I personally wanted for a remake? No. But I'm mature enough to know that you can't get exactly what you want in life. I'm still ecstatic that we're getting a new Pirates set at all and will probably get a couple of this one. Or more if I find it useful as a parts pack. I agree with some of the criticisms, I would also prefer the dock to be brown and the palm trees to be similar to PoBB, but if the task was to make a faithful remake with the same footprint as the old one, this set achieves that task. Being a bluecoats guy (I remember as a kid I was disappointed that they switched to redcoats, and didn't buy those sets hoping for a return of the bluecoats that never came), I have invested a lot to build an army based on the 2015 bluecoats and flags, so of course it's disappointing that they didn't use the updated flag for instance. The new torso prints I think I can still have a use for, however. Maybe for officers. The boat is a bit plain for my taste, I will probably only use the sails for MOC:ed boats. I couldn't care less about the inclusion of female heads. Lego doesn't have to be perfectly historically accurate.

Now I'm just imagining how insanely cute a Lego fawn would be. An updated one? Because we've already gotten one in the Prince of Persia line.

If there's no accompanying Pirates-themed GWP at release, I think I will wait until there is, or to the next 2xVIP promotion. I'm saying that as a huge fan of Pirates, it's just that Lego sets are becoming too expensive. I need something back to buy at recommended price from Lego.com.

Welcome to the forum!

A recolour would be nice. I would like to see it with curls on the sides, like a combination between the tricorne and this wig. That would take a new mould thought so it's more likely to get it in a CMF. Maybe a male aristocrat as a companion to the lady aristocrat?
-
Also, it would be great to get a Sabre Island that fits with the modular system as a GWP (most probable scenario).

Any indication if this will be exclusively DTC, like the Lion Knight's Castle, or if it will be available in retail as well?

Brick Clicker confirms the July 4th release date in his latest video, but otherwise no new info. As far as I know he's pretty reliable.

Not having any knowledge of the Ninjago writing system, I would say yes. The initial sign is the same as the sixth, which matches BrickBeard. Also the second and ninth signs match (BRickbeaRd).

How nice of Lego to provide some missing pieces for my future museum.

The summer wave of City has been revealed. There is a large turtle mould and a new colour for the stingray in the 60377 Seaforesting Boat set, and a wreckage with both the smaller sharks and the larger shark in 60379 Research Submarine. And the orca in the 60368 Arctic Research Ship of course.

I had a bit of doubt if seals were native to the tropics, but it seems like there was one: Caribbean monk seal. Sadly it's extinct now...

I agree. If they'd added some cuts to them or something they'd look more realistic. In nature, the leafs usually have lots of cuts. Wikipedia:

In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, infantry usually wore white gaiters, meaning full white legs would be more historically correct. But the officers usually wore boots, so those could have dual moulded legs. However the gaiters could be black as well.
-
The doorman in the 2022 City Advent Calendar had dark red epaulettes, so maybe they'll switch it up a bit. If so, maybe the uniforms will be dark blue as well.
-
In my "army", I've classified it as red epaulettes for artillery and white epaulettes for infantry.
-
So, back to the rumoured Pirates-set. If it's a new more detailed Eldorado Fortress, do you think Lego will re-use the bluecoat uniforms from the 2015 wave, or do you think they will design new ones? I would however assume that the soldiers would get red epaulettes instead of white. Maybe the officers will get double moulded legs with black boots?

With regards to re-releasing modulars, I think there's a huge difference compared to Legends re-releasing classic playsets. On top of the modulars having been detailed from the beginning, there has been a huge increase in AFOLs over the last few years that want to catch-up with the previous sets to fill out their cities. It's not so much nostalgia as completionism. Edit: Or just regular Lego fans that has grown up with the playsets, but were too young to buy the modulars when they were available.

I would assume so. Lion Knight's Castle got it even though it was an 18+ set.

Technically, pirates shouldn't like leaks either.

Oh nuts, I should have checked here before I started a thread on it just now.
