Another station heading for 10,000 on ideas
RichardGoring replied to Tube Map Central's topic in LEGO Train Tech
My understanding is that they will release instructions, which seems to have changed from the original plan. Although they may be something you pay for, which is fine. In such a complex operation, delivery times is something I feel ok compromising on. If they have limited production capacity, then allow the sets to sell, ideally to a many people as want them, and then decide how long it will take to deliver. -

That's true, but I suspect that it won't happen with things in the Bricklink Designer Program. They're all non-licensed, which means that there are many possibilities for different designs. LEGO may come out with their own train station, but it will be a different train station. And if you want, it's OK to have two different train stations. The Ghostbusters Firehouse is a licensed thing, representing something real. So although there may be slightly different ways to interpret it, it's still ultimately the same thing. But as the BDP doesn't include licensed sets, it hopefully won't be an issue. It does seem a shame that Bricklink set a limit of 10,000 sets, rather than allow as many orders as the market demands, and then schedule production and confirm a delivery time after that. Some sets sell out in minutes. Others don't reach 10,000 orders. But I know they're trying really hard to please everyone and it's hard. -

If they continue the Bricklink Designer Program, then it gives new impetus to vote for good, non-licensed ideas like this. I think this is fabulous. -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
It would be nice if they do have a GWP in December. Not because I need that kind of incentive, or expect it, but because they have been really very good sets. The ice rink and Charles Dickens last year were excellent. To the point that I would have happily bought them if they were generally available. Or maybe they're changing tactic and moving some of these sets to be VIP Rewards. There were surveys through the last year about that possibility. Perhaps the camera is the start of something more consistent? Might be a clever move by LEGO to get people to buy more directly from them (as opposed to other retailers) so that they have a stack of VIP points ready in case there is a new reward. Compared to the current situation where you can wait to see if the GWP is something you want and then choose buy from LEGO for the GWP, or another retailer (often at a discount). -

The December store calendar is up and only the skiing Santa polybag as a GWP Dec 1-14. No Santa's Living Room mentioned. https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/set/assets/blt540b4529a80f0b09/12_December_Calendar_US.pdf -
[MOC] The Daily Press - Alternate build for 10278 Police Station
RichardGoring replied to Versteinert's topic in LEGO Town
First the pub, and now this. You're 'forcing' me to buy yet another modular. I was tempted to make the police station into a news building. This is even better. It's superb. Well done, and thanks for sharing. -

LEGO Monkie Kid 2022
RichardGoring replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It's nice that the Galactic Explorer has the longer roller coaster tracks in teal, so you can extend the train on The City of Lanterns. A great opportunity to MOC with the Ninjago City sets and really integrate them. Oops. Didn't realize that the long roller coaster piece already comes with The City of Lanterns. But as a cover for the station. -

These new sets are fabulous. The City of Lanterns especially so. Nezha's Fire Ring is a great use of the roller coaster pieces too. -
I've been deliberating on it for a while, and still think I prefer the UCS Star Destroyer, but when Zavvi's $150 off the Millennium Falcon came around again, I went for it. My first LEGO Star Wars purchase.

Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
It would be cool, but have they ever done a set with so much repetition in the build? It's usually a single carriage. Never more than two. I think the logic they use is that once you have the instructions for one, you can then build multiple with separate bricks or buy several sets. The Modular buildings follow the same logic. Also a full Hogwarts express would take up a lot of track which would increase the cost of the set even more. If they were to do it, I suspect they would focus on the stations a bit more. Perhaps including both Kings Cross and Hogsmeade? -

They might do this, as a teaser for the first $1000 set that claims it's rightful place as the largest set by size, piece count, and price. UCS: Dobby's Sock* *(Dobby minifigure sold separately) -

Oh yes, I realized that you want a different mould with hair attached to the hat/ears. I just wonder whether LEGO will ever do it, given that they may think they already have what they need. -

Ooh, interesting. Is Kohl's cash any good? A quick read of the T&Cs suggests that the only snag is having to spend it in a specific time frame. Is that it, or anything else to look out for? -

I suspect that in LEGO's mind, the pink hat and ears piece is the 'female one'. Not to say that the red and green ones can't be either, but in the Build A Minifigure stations where you can get the pink ones, they pair them with a female face. So that may be it. -

RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I do indeed. That's great, thanks. It's design number 78302. Hurrah! I don't really look at the Marvel stuff, so I hadn't noticed it. But it's great. -

I also have the Elf Clubhouse and Gingerbread house unbuilt, so if I wanted to, plenty of stuff to do. I just keep hoping that we'll actually move before Christmas, and so idly think that my daughter would love Santa's Visit. But I'm happy to wait until next year. Just idly thinking about it with the VIP weekend tomorrow.
