  1. I suppose we shall see.
  2. Again, I speak Diplomatically. "Not a problem. Do you consider my walking stick a weapon? Above ground no one would consider it thus, and I would never use it as one, but if it makes you more comfortable..." "Your kingdom is most pleasant indeed. It must take much work to run it though. I admire your strength in doing so. I have never seen a hat quite like that one. Could I, perchance, try it on? Of course, I totally understand if it's too dear to you. I have many possessions that I would not like to give up."
  3. Again, I don't follow. He would lose his gold-gaining abilities, but would still generate plenty of gold due to the gloves.
  4. I frown as Sylph lowers his bow. "This cannot end well," I mutter.
  5. True, but if Arthur were to go Battle Mage or Mystic Knight he'd have a lot more strength behind his attacks, and with the latter and the overkill gloves, he'd be able to garner a massive amount of gold so as to have a incredibly strong shield. I do agree that we should not have too many powerful SP-giving artifacts for non-Knight classes.
  6. Look at Quest #59, we almost all have more posts than JimB.
  7. My "powerful" artifact was a pretzel that has one in three chances of being beneficial. Just Pretzel's luck! I actually don't understand whether Pretzel's pretzel has a one in three chance of giving him all effects or if it gives him any one of hastened, lucky, or encouraged.
  8. Still not what I mean to say.
  9. Sorry, I don't catch the joke. Let me rather say, I don't understand what you're referring to.
  10. Wow! Pretzel has to kill Althior. *oh* Because there were artifacts like the Yeti Fur Coat that came into play at the same time. I still don't think enemies should be balanced specifically around such artifacts.
  11. No. It took only a few heroes to defeat the Progg invasion, it took whole armies not to mention a ton of heroes to overthrow the orc invasion. Of course, the heroes didn't fight many of the proggs, but still...orcish invasion definitely bigger, especially considering that it's being talked about centuries after it occurred, I think. The progg invasion would be forgotten if the heroes on it or on the first quest wouldn't bring it up."
  12. I will restrain myself from attempting to rekindle the debate about the Overkill Gloves, but I certainly would support a nerf. Sure rogues may be able to make a ton more money in battle, but they aren't incredibly strong in battle so that kind of counters things. However, the overkill gloves can provide massive amounts of gold for classes that are more power-focused than gold-earning, thus certainly providing any imbalance. But Arthur has them and not Pretzel so ultimately it doesn't really effect me tremendously whether they are nerfed or not. I just hope people won't keep attempting to make such artifacts in the future. Just my thoughts.
  13. "Hmm, that was not part of your original bargain. "What's your name lad? I like your authority. Where did you get that hat of yours?" "I'm not sure if humans have bigger coins than your folk, I have yet to see yours. Perhaps you could show them to me, whilst I browse through your wares. What do you say we all step out into the light...er...or whatever?"
  14. "You would not part an old man from his walking stick," I mutter feebly, clutching my cross as if for dear life.
  15. I look around nervously as the people seem rather speechless. I guess it's better than them being all upset and shouting.
  16. I reach for a bomb, but then decide against it. Why is that girl beaming like a drunkard. Too much punch I'll wager. I speak Diplomatically. "Greetings small folk and big rock thing, what a pleasure it does us to meet you here in your village. We tried knocking on doors, but couldn't find anyone home. Ummm....Wally here is a friend of ours and a pleasant acquaintance, as I'm sure he has told you, we mean no harm...sort of...any of you care for a pretzel? They're really quite delicious." I offer a pretzel to whomever will accept it. "Also, you are mistaken by calling us humans, this young fellow, Erik, is the only human among us and he's as good a chap as any. In fact it is known that may race, the hermits, are quite closely related to gnomes. Perhaps, you may even be cousins of mine, you know." I shrug. "All in all, I hope you will accept us to your humble village. We mean no harm."
  17. Really? You shouldn't be.
  18. I think you're the first to see Benji's naked leg. ...just a guess. Cleric's hand falls limply by his side. "Die! Die! Die!"
  19. "Eh? If the truth kills let it kill, as they say." "Thank you for your help small one, and you, big rocky thing." I cast one more suspicious glance their way before heading north.
  20. I cast Dreyrugr my most venomous glare, but return to smiling pleasantly at the two.
  21. Um, Karie, being a Rogue, can't wield a Healing Staff.
  22. Feel free to go on side quests at the end of our quest. Pretzel will head quickly back to the hall and claim all the loot in the "treasury" for himself. Aren't you glad that I wasn't able to get online this whole time? Well, whether you were or you weren't, Pretzel's back. Yeah, I kind of stopped as well since the Harriet Slutter Mafia. I do enjoy Mafia a lot, but it saps a lot of my mental power if I'm really focused on it, and if I'm not really focused, I've found, then there's not really any point in playing it. Heroica is easier in that way. I do want to streamline my Mafia playing style, so I can be more effective without spending too much time reading and thinking about it, but until I do that, or a bunch of time suddenly falls into my laps, I'll have to hold out for now.
  23. Don't worry. I have a brilliant new idea called, "balancing parties made easy."
  24. I step forward and eye the pair suspiciously, but speak diplomatically. "Mating habits, you say? Why are you so interested in the mating habits of other species? Well no big deal, but to me it seems like we won't be able to answer your questions as Erik is the only human among us, besides..." I look quizzically at Sylph. "...and I hope he doesn't have much experience in this area, being as young as he is. Nessa, here is an elf, I am a hermit, and this, here..." I point at Dreyrugr "...is a demon. Do you have more of his kind where you come from. Normally, they are characterized by pale faces and sickeningly evil smirks, as you can currently see plastered across his face. The also suck on human blood sometimes. Clearly, they seem to have none of their own...vile creatures." "Humans are a little messed up, aren't they? It's because they are too accepting of vile creatures such as orcs, demons, and the like." "Why do you cover your face with a mask?" "Argh! What arrogance. We help you, you help us, alrighty? Do you have a problem with that? You watch your step, because I don't like your face."
  25. We haven't had a great influx of new players in a while though. A lot of the newer players are in or close to level 15 already. Hmm, suddenly a new and exciting idea pops into my mind.
