The problem is not whether or not rogues are sharing their gold, etc. It's that rogues are becoming too powerful. As Pandora said Battle Mage should be about the ultimate when it comes to damage dealing, but rogues can now do the same damage as Nyx. So what's the point in having barbarians if rogues are doing just as much if not more damage and reaping great benefits while at it? Knights are different. They have shields, but look at someone like Benji who can have quite a massive amount of SP while being an assassin. I think assassins were meant to be relatively weak fellows with the awesomeness of being able to assassinate enemies, with the amount of gold they have now, though, many assassins are devastatingly effective even when just rolling "aim." When it gets to that stage, I think it's pretty obvious that a nerf is needed. I believe Scorpiox meant that if the rogue were to act against the battle strategy and was harming the party through such an action. You have to remember that people have been very friendly to rogues many times. For example, it's not uncommon that people put rogues higher up in the battle order so that they could farm more gold from their hits. Perhaps it's better that way. If rogues keep getting the amount they're getting they could easily start purchasing consumables for the whole party taking over many roles. I don't think the ultimate goal is for every hero to be drugged out on consumables every battle.

Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand

"Well, I beg..." the Baron steps out. "Whatever," I mutter. Turning to Mr. Moke, I speak Diplomatically, "So how is it with people's tax-givings down here? Are the taxes easy to collect or do people give problems?" -

"You can't be serious! Since when? I have to say that apart from short intervals at the hall I have not really been active in the city what with demons and hell's beasts running wild therein, I prefer to avoid the city. But now you say that there are no laws. I suppose when you let the devil in Anarchy follows." I turn to the Baron, my head still clouded with confusion and perhaps a little anger. "Hmmmm...Mr. Moke seems to be delaying with the bringing of our weaponry. Do you think he has caught onto your plans, Baron?" -

"Here's the whole issue, Monsieur le Baron. There are a group of men known in Eubric as the blue assassins. I believe your guest is a member, or rather was a member of the group. The members of the group are criminals and we are doing our utmost to crack down on them to help eliminate crime, something that you seem to have done tremendously well down here, for which I commend your efforts. Now, we were alerted to your guest's presence and we came down here to look for him so we could get information regarding one specific murder. Normally, it would be our duty to arrest him and bring him for trial, but, if he can help us out in solving the murder-mystery we are currently faced with and since he seems to have abandoned his old lifestyle perhaps a pardon from us is suitable. We appreciate your frankness and honesty and we will certainly do all that is within our power to do when confronting Mr. Moke. I just ask why you have not done so yourself before now? He is a tricky character, is he not?" -
Besides, poor Cronk probably deals more damage through counter-striking in a battle than he does through actual fighting.

I have to say that I'm kind of glad I wasn't on the quest. I like quests that move fast, but I don't like quests that move fast when I'm not online and then hardly move at all when I am. You made a good team being all relatively close to each other time-zone wise. Good points by Zepher. I love Boomingham and I think he would get along better with Pretzel than I originally thought.

I kid about the rogue business, because of the way people were saying the rogues get over-charged, but still, I don't think selling a gem for under 100 gold has almost ever been done. 55 has to be the cheapest ever.

"Could we at least ask him some questions to discover the truth about the matter? If he is guilty, and I quite believe that he is, it is our duty (and surely, being the mayor of this town duty is something you understand the importance of) to turn him over to the respective authorities. What he does after that is between him and them. If his reputation is what you make it out to be, I am sure he can escape with ease. But for now we have a duty to fulfill and we cannot just leave this place empty-handed after we've searched the city high and low for this man. Besides, what kind of man he is. How well do you know him?" Diplomacy is key. Perhaps Dreyrugr should use intimidation. -

"So, I'll take it you know Posco then. I am sorry to say, sir, that your 'guest,' as you called him, is a known scoundrel and has committed murders which are, I must not have to tell you, serious crimes where I come from. We are not here to kill him, but it seems that we shall have to arrest him and turn him in. Surely you understand our predicament and I'm sure you would not want such a dangerous creature dwelling down here with you and your peaceful folk, correct?" I pray to God that my Diplomacy works. -
55 gold for a gem, and Alexandre is a rogue. Haldor is too kind.

Two negatives equal a positive, so you think it is a good idea to slam them with the two nerfs. Yes, I do agree that it would be a bit much. I guess it's fine, but Sandy did say it should be realistic:

I continue in my Diplomatic tone of voice. "I must commend you on your establishment here. Most charming. One could almost call it...quaint? Very well run, I must say. "May I ask you, Monsieur le Baron, if you know of a certain Mister Posco Padfoot? An acquaintance of ours believes him to live down here, and I really must meet him." -
Good enough for me, but are enemies who drop gold decided at the QMs fancy or not? I suppose that is the question.
-
I do think that mug-able enemies should be made clear to the party in the battle, maybe that's obvious though.

I speak Diplomatically all through. "Fascinating to be sure. I've been quite the hat collector recently. My head seems to take poorly to the cold so I always cover it, some things protect better than others. There is a certain dignity that comes with tall hats though. Wouldn't you agree?" "Ah, Mr. Moke, a pleasure to meet you. Your hat is quite a brilliant work of craftsmanship as well, I must say. In fact, I've seen a female who was an assassin by profession who used such a hat as a weapon. I don't suppose yours has such capabilities though."I eye Moke carefully, but in a casual manner. "A brilliant one, you say? Fascinating. What is your profession, Mr. Moke, may I ask?" -

"Ah, monsieur le Baron. How goes your day, friend!" I say a bit too familiarly. "That hat still impresses me so. What is it made of? Let me ask again. I've never seen something quite so exquisite. It almost looks like it could be the skin of a black bear. Very impressive." I turn to the other man. "Pleased to meet you too, Mr...?" -
Shh. I'm trying to pretend like I'm not forcing the common sense rules. No, really I do think that we should follow Endgame's amendment, but I think we should have rules as to whom drops gold, otherwise it's just completely random who is mug-able and who isn't. For instance, I think almost all humanoids should drop gold and should be mug-able and, for the most part, very few others. If you have a quest without many humanoids then you may not get many rogues on it, but tough.

More or less what I'm trying to say.

Palathadric replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Good. Then that's cleared up. I know you don't mind Erik using it. Right now, none of us can use your Black Knights Armour so it's probably better that way." Sorry, Vash, just wanted to move the quest along. I equip the lighter armour instead of my Ethereal Cloak "Druid, do you want this Ethereal Cloak instead of your Quiver for now?" -
Well, your way is more or less based on Common Sense as well (that should totally be a job trait by the way ) because you are relying on the QM's common sense to decide which enemies drop gold and which don't. If we go with plan Endgame, I still think it is unnecessary to have enemies that normally wouldn't drop gold, suddenly start dropping just to make the quest more attractive for rogue-based classes. Unless there is a good reason for an animal to drop gold, I think there is no reason for them to do so.

Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand
Palathadric replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Yes, thank you! We will be heading to the Baron's office now. Erik, for the time being, until I know for sure whether the demon wants it or not, and for the duration of the quest. It seems to make sense if I loan you the Hunter's Armour and you loan me the Lighter Armour. What do you say? Otherwise, perhaps, I'll just loan it to Nessa for now and she can equip it instead of her quiver." CMP, the shields in the inventory are still off. Dreyrugr should have the Dragonbrand one, and I should have the Impervious Shield. Also, the Scroll of Disenchantment should be in Pretzel's inventory, not Sylph's. -
But do we need a solid guideline? Well, I guess I do follow, for the most the rule of enemies dropping gold, give gold in muggings, but perhaps the people who drop the gold should be decided by the power of Common Sense. That actually does make more sense...I think.
-
That was the idea behind the humanoid only rule. I think Common Sense just makes the most sense. Why is it that I am the only one who can see. Seriously, though, what can possibly be wrong with it? Precisely. Beautiful!
-
And Savings Accounts to make the rich richer? A vote against Common Sense is a vote against common sense.
-
But I thought the idea was that we don't particularly want them stealing gold from random animals. Their has to be some sense in what kind of people are chugging around gold as Sandy mentioned, I believe in the Quest Master's Lounge, but don't quote me on that. I think it makes sense to say Humanoid and certain other creatures like trolls, etc. Besides, I think the "Enemies that drop gold" would make it even easier for QMs to "punish" rogues as you could have anyone, not drop gold. I think common sense or QM discretion, with other's bringing things up when necessary, makes the most sense. For instance, if the humanoid only rule applied, maybe you'd want a beggar who doesn't have gold on him, or something. But again, this ruling doesn't affect me much as I haven't hosted yet, and I don't play and don't think I plan to play a gold-gaining class... I think it would be perfectly fine if we were to have a banking system to just run on the "Honour System" as JimB, said, it works fine when I play Monopoly as no one really wants to be the banker. I don't know if a bank is particularly necessary though. Besides, if Rogues have excess money when on a quest, they could always ask a party member to keep it for safe-keeping for a small percentage instead of letting it go to waste.
