Well, the battles took up so much time that everything else seemed like a blur.

I wish I could pop by the embassy. I always forget about it though, and besides, I don't think Pretzel would let me. Largh-mund doesn't seem "human" enough. Why not? A character's religion doesn't really need to define him in anyway. Somebody can worship Murcutio without being a money-sucking monkey. Seems funny to me that you suggest that religious character would question why people like Wren would be able to operate. One would assume that if they were that religious they would be religious enough to not ask questions and just accept that the god either can't do something about it or has a reason for letting it happen. I don't think the character's religion needs to be any more defining than the character's name...although both are pretty defining for Pretzel.

Boy, once I get into QMing, which I still intend to do at some point, I'm going to have to start remembering what quests were hosted in which locations on the map. I do agree with you. If the destruction seems to cataclysmic, but it's in an area like Uland, it can be difficult for it come out in the character's actions how real that threat is. In Dastan it was very real, but I think it was more about all of the NPCs who would get killed if the heroes weren't successful. 53 was like that as well. I think the power of the progg's may have also magnified a bit too quickly from hiding out in a basement in 36 to threatening to destroy humanity in 48, at least in the hero's eyes.

To tell you that I'd have to tell you a lot more about Pretzel and his fellow "hermits" which I'm not prepared to do. I don't know. I'm not one for just telling backstory without a really good reason for it. Furthermore, Pretzel rarely talks about his religion because he refers to it more as what's true and everything else as "false." Let me just say that his god's name is Theleg Oco, but is more commonly referred to as "The Lord God," or just Lord. Theleg Oco is believed to be the Creator of all things and the God of all gods.

Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery
Palathadric replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"For your information, dwarf, insolence will not lead you anywhere in a party that I have command over. And as far as your badges go, it's easy for anyone to create such things. Trust me, I've been to marketplaces where they'll sell them. Sometimes not even up to forty pieces to one. Titles and badges mean nothing. Where are the people who have been affected by your actions? Do you have a whole county who would vouch for your having delivered them of the demon that plagued their region and the raiders that pillaged their villages? Do you have a bank who would vouch for your having saved their vault and the wealth of the entire city with it? What about a person or a few people who know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you saved them from insanity? I have dragons who owe their life to me too, a rare occurrence anywhere in the world. Titles are merely artifacts for the sake of showing and telling and glorifying one's self. The things that are important are the deeds that live on in the lives of others. One assassin slain, means one less felon out there to murder for the sake of his pocketbook. Lives are saved through it. One cannot boats about titles they obtain in training grounds. One may be the most skillful of fighters in training, but when it counts he is at a loss, because he lacks the battlefield experience. Make sure that in your quest for titles you don't miss out on what is truly important around you." "Schooled?" I raise an eyebrow. "Kids these days, always verbizing nouns for no reason," I mutter. "He shrouds his face in darkness because he is unwilling to face the light. Such men are slaves to their masters and have no will of their own. It is clearly drawn out in their eyes which is why they often seek to hide them in shadow." "Anger management lessons took you to collecting lots of powerful weapons? What kind of anger management were they talking about exactly? I hope you won't be destroying the whole area around us like you did with those critters in the Fields of Glory." I chuckle.- 327 replies

They're nice sometimes when they can get a lot of feeling out of the PCs, like 53 did, but sometimes they can just seem too extravagant when they don't really need to be.

Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery
Palathadric replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
I approach Detective Warlock. "Monk Pretzel, demon slayer, party leader, healer of dragons, hunter of assassins is here to the rescue. Where does our work begin, detective. You chose well, it seems, for this quest. I've just gotten back not to recently from hunting down an assassin myself, so detective work is among my list of professions. It is a pleasure to meet you, I hope it will be as pleasurable to work with you, but only time shall tell. What's this little demon?" I turn to Watsup with no hidden disgust etched across my face. I then turn away to survey the party. Stigveladi was there; then there was a blonde fellow with a ridiculous grin splashed across his face; and then figures all wrapped up. One I knew as being the undead of the hall, the other was obviously a human...or elf, but his dress declared that he was only there to cause trouble. I do not feel the need to address the party. Oops! Sandy, I forgot to remove Pretzel's Holy Bomb from his inventory. He used it in the Fields of Glory. Also, Sorrow should be at full health, I think.- 327 replies

"That's a good lad! You've been taught well."

Thanks for hosting the Fields of Glory, CMP! It was a lot of fun actually. I'm disappointed that we couldn't finish off the Apocalyptic battle, that would've been great. Maybe I'll have to return another time to do that.
-
CMP, you didn't post my stats with the others in the Fields of Glory. Never quested with a mage before (if you don't count the Fields of Glory) and now I get three of them. This should be interesting.
-
I take a look at the list. "Huh!" I grunt. "I've been chosen, and as party leader again. It seems as if someone knows how to make their picks." I quickly scan over the list. Stigveladi, that's good. Someone of his talents are worthwhile. However I'll certainly have to keep him in check. Wouldn't want him destroying the whole marketplace. Can't say I recognize the other, but someone with a name like 'Sorrow' or 'Avalanche' could only spell trouble.

I re-enter the hall from my latest outing in the Fields of Glory. It was good to be back, but a shame at the same time. That fight was in the palm of our hands. Why couldn't I secure victory? I wonder. I had acted on spur of the moment judgement, and I wasn't too pleased with it. Well there must be a reason. As I pass the quest board, I take a glance and realize that there are a number of quests hanging there and begging for someone to sign on them. I take a closer look. "Well, well, well, Town Watch needs someone to solve a crime for them. Seems like I'll be playing the detective once again. Perhaps they should learn to find more professional detectives on a regular basis instead of the ones they have," I sign up for Quest 87: "The Marketplace Mystery".

Sorry, I tend to do that when I'm trying to figure something out. Everything I did is correct though, right? If not, my apologies.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

Having thrown the Smoke Bomb, I return to the Hall, collecting a Phoenix Incense as I leave. I am allowed to, right? I hand back to Nur the Fire Amulet, Medal of Glory, Wooden Shield, and Sealed Heavy Armour I take back my Shackles of War (Nur), Flying Cross (Sylph), Heavy Flail (Sylph), and Ethereal Cloak (Stigveladi) Did I forget anything? -

I sigh, the battle was easily winnable, but I feel tremendously homesick. "I've got to go back to the hall," I groan, picking up and throwing a Smoke Bomb. Can we trade in our GP for items at anytime? As in, can I go back to the hall, go on a quest, and then trade in my GP without actually joining a Fields of Glory team? -

Battle Order: Sylph: Heal Nur Stigveladi: Nostrum: Hybros Hybros: Pumkinface C Hybros: Pumkinface G Nagure: Repeat (If Dead, Pumkinface with Lowest Health) Pretzel: Pumkinface with less than 280 health (twice with Dual Staff), if no Pumpkinfaces with less than 280 health, hit any Hodgepodge with less than 280 health), if none, hit highest Pumkinface with highest health with Conspirator Pretzel: Same as Above Nur: (Ruby): Pumkinface with Lowest Health How's this for Battle Order? Oops, I didn't realize how much time passed between now and the last post. Thought they'd merge. Alternatively, if you just want to roll without stopping at all: Battle Order: Back Rows: Nagure: Pumpkinface H Hybros: Pumpkinface C Hybros: Pumpkinface G Sylph: Hodgepodge A Pretzel: Pumpkinface I Pretzel: Pumpkinface J Stigveladi: Hodgepodge B Nur: Hodgepodge C I don't know, is there a difference between if we all get KO'ed or if we use a Smoke Bomb? If not we may as well fight to the finish, so we at least have a chance of victory, however slim it might be. Argh, this battle is so winnable, it's too bad we're short on time. CMP, if I throw a Smoke Bomb, can I post in the Hall before you put up the "conclusion"? I just am trying to get a general idea of how much time we can have here before I need to be in the hall. -

Nur should not be down due to his Lichen Armour. -
Yours too.

For what appears to be a relatively straight-forward MOC, this looks really good!
-
I love MOCs like this. Nice job!
-
I love your petard. Great castle though. Wonder next?

Can't say I have, but quite interesting, I must say. I would be quite interested in seeing what's the best close-up of a minifig anyone has gotten with LDraw. The one that I just put in my avatar is about the best I've gotten, but I didn't really experiment with it much, actually almost at all.
-
LDraw all the way! I do have to say though that the minifigs still don't look that great in LDraw and LDD, though. The one that I just put as my avatar is about the best I've gotten thus far, although I have to say that I haven't taken an enormous amount of time to try different ones out. Some faces are smoother than others also.

So, we'll never finish these guys in time. We'd be relatively lucky to get another round in here as we have less than 24-hours to go. Unless we just tell CMP to autoroll until all of us fall or all of them. Would you be up for this, CMP? -

CMP, would you mind just rolling the round with Amma targeting Hodgepodge C? I'm sure PsyKater wouldn't mind.
