Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery
Palathadric replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Umm...she's referring to the little scrawny fellow with the hat who created the painting," I say, cringing. "Mage, don't you think everyone in Uland would want to get their hands on some of these potions, if for no other reason than to resell?" I frown. "Why don't we take a look at that picture."- 327 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery

"Good call!" I nod appreciatively at Thalion. I should adopt this one as my understudy for the duration of this quest. Perhaps I will need to find out more about him though. "Hmmm..." I scribble in my notebook: Yeti pretends not to be present at crime scene when actually he was...LEAD 1. "It is nothing." "Shady, dark-skinned person...sounds like Nur, doesn't it Stigveladi? Smelly barbarian? I've seen the ogre around the hall... A werehen. There was a hen in the painting, was there not? Sounds as if the culprit may have left a trace and made the mistake of coming back to look for it. It does sound a bit convenient though." "Inferior quality? Are the ones you sell to Heroica inferior as well? Hmm...I have to say I am glad I've never bought a weapon directly from you. At least you do a decent job with the merging of the gems. Perhaps we can discuss the cost of some of your more unique weapons a little later on," I suggest. Stigveladi is already heading to Portia's, so I follow her. "Portia's shop is next on the list. Let's go."- 327 replies

Pretzel definitely regrets not having killed the Death Progg. His glory for killing a massive demon is gone and it hurts him, especially since he knows that he didn't avenge Daxus' death. He still tries to brush it off and insist that he did kill the Death Progg, but I think he knows otherwise. Letting Daxus die is another big regret. Another regret is letting the Sewer Slickers go in his last quest or rather his not having been able to control his party and get them to do what he wanted. At least Sylph was able to explain this in such a way that Pretzel didn't feel completely betrayed. Another, I suppose, but this is not very major, was his inability to find out what and who was behind the Rorik's assassination. He feels ashamed to have played into a woman's hands.

I was just thinking what could be interesting for the Veteran Job Classes is if instead of requiring 10 quests overall to obtain them, they required five quests playing as the respective base class. This would force people to go back to their roots in preparation for their...new roots?

I raise an eyebrow at the grinning mage. What a strange fellow. "Dwarf!" I hiss. "It may be worthwhile that you do not antagonize those who we are hear to assist. You wouldn't want to give our Town Watch friend the wrong idea would you? Besides, I'm not so sure that his origin has anything to do with what is happening here." I chuckle at the outburst. "A knife? I would give you one, if I had one on me, knowing full well that you wouldn't even be able to wield it. As far as the shave is concerned, I believe I have just the thing." I flash Conspirator slightly. "Besides, I don't recall being the one mentioning 'species' and the like."- 327 replies

Secret Santa? Okay, time for Pretzel to start kissing some serious megablocks.

This really is a fascinating piece. Gives me some great ideas, truly.

The last game was pretty insane, wasn't it?
-
Awesome! My question exactly.

Oh, come on, you weren't even on my list! But we all actually know that you'll be the town that the scum convert and then sacrifice.

"Mr. Warlock, you appear to be sweating. Care for a kerchief?" I turn to Anwyl. "It appears so, my good dwarf...if you are indeed a dwarf. I'll be honest with you and tell you that your weapons' rack looks pretty tidy as it is. Are you missing any items and if so, would you mind telling me what is missing?"- 327 replies

There are a lot of great unofficial expansions/modpacks, etc. You should check out the Blacksmith aok.heavengames.com They've got a lot of great stuff there. There was even talk of frontpaging this project at the forums there. They seem to like it.

Now I know why Dragonfire created a yeti character.

"Pah! It's no use attempting to talk to beings from the underworld. They can't even compose any logical arguments." I roll my eyes exaggeratedly and munch down a pretzel. "I'll tell you one thing, you don't scare me nearly as much as that runt with the odd hat. Never seen his kind before, and he doesn't even attempt to hide his appearance behind a somewhat human-like figure. It spells bad times for good men to see such creatures walking the land freely."- 327 replies

"He could say anything through you, you know. I don't argue with mindless zombillic demons, but sometimes it's a real pity to see how much they think they can think for themselves. The only reason you think he's dead is because he planted that idea into your mind. If he was truly dead, you would be too, unless necromancers have found a way for their spirit to live on in the lives of their creations which is just downright frightening to think about."- 327 replies

"Anwyl's is as good a place as any," I suppose. "It's also first on the list and we may as well do things in a proper order. Would you mind letting me know in which order the shops were ransacked, if you know?" "Animals are meant to be subservient to men. As for your demonic friend, can you really call it discrimination against a species? Since when have demons been a species of their own? No, he roamed the earth once in flesh and blood, but no doubt did great evil or he would not have been raised in the way he was. His master has broken the laws of nature, the laws put forth by God, Himself. And thus he is nothing but a slave to his master, an evil master who uses the arcane arts to manipulate armies and to cause mass destruction. Why else would he create a demon of his own choosing when he need not have? He has defied the essence of life. He has headed down the darkest of paths, his creations are clearly a reflection of that. Having no mind of their own, why should we treat them as if they had one? "I call you blue, because to say 'white' sounds discriminating...racially." "And you would be quite wrong to call me a monkey as there is nothing monkey-like about me. Perhaps you would like a shave?"- 327 replies

I gaze in some shock at the weird blue thing in front of me. "Telling your party leader to, as you put it, 'shut up' never helped to get any favours from him, I should warn you. Besides, blue monkey, it requires there is little, if anything that makes me see you in any more of a favourable light than the demon. You may think yourself on good terms with me, because I gave you a good discount on a venom sometime back, but do not use my favour and turn it back on me, you hear?" I turn to Detective Warlock. "I apologize for their unprofessional behaviour," I whisper, "when a party is chosen at random, it's easy to select regular street rabble calling themselves 'heroes.' Don't worry, I will try to get the best that I can out of them. By the end of this quest we should be looking back at a successful operation here. Now about those 'pictures.' Were they...um... painted after the ransack?"- 327 replies

I don't know if Emergency Essences are that common that they require such a place.

Does that surprise you?

I guess the way I see it is that the majority of people in Eubric probably down worship some god or other, so it would more take something special for one to not be religious. I think most people wouldn't tie their religions into things that happen in their lives. It's more of a give tribute to their god so the god doesn't give them unnecessary problems-type of thing. But maybe that's just me.

"If your body required oxygen to keep it in its undead state. I would gladly consume all the oxygen in the world so it would be rid of you." "Hmm, yes, at least you have a head on your shoulders. This was my question exactly. Also, we may as well see all those pictures since you have them available, although I wouldn't trust any of these modern machines. I say stay a safe distance away from them."- 327 replies
