Intresting. Set 2516 Ninja Training includes theese round 1x1 plates that previously has been unique for the board games. And not only in white as it seems to include two black ones as well.

The first rumors about the set showed up at the end of october, pictures in mid january and the set was released in march. But as the Modular Houses are LEGO exclusives it's a bit unpredictable as it's easier for LEGO to keep the lid on. Sometimes rumors and/or pictures of those sets don't show up until just a few weeks before release.

Here's my take on who stays and who goes. Harry Potter - uncertain but I lean at it's a oneof thing. May get new sets from the new movie. But it seems like LEGO isn't thinking it'll match it's demographic... World Racers - I think it's out. Can't really see any continuation of it. May get a second wave in may/june or august though. Racers - Stays. The tiny turbos seems popular even though the variation is limited... Power Miners - Only foru sets this year says it all. It's out. Kingdoms - Will most likely get at least one more wave in may/june or august. Space Police - Has had it's two years and will not get anything more. Will be replaced by the new spaceport subtheme of city. Toy Story - As it's doesn't seem to get a new wave this january I'm being doubtful. And finally a recap: Racers and Kingdoms gets new sets and the rest won't.

The evergreen themes like Castle, Space and the city subthemes of police and firefighters get renewed every three years or so. Usualy after taking a years hiatus. Then there are themes that one could say is almost evergreens that pop up from time to time. Like Pirates. Before the release last year it was last seen in 2004 and that was as a subtheme of the not-so-fun "4 juniors" theme. New themes arrives yearly. E.g. this year we did get Atlantis, World Racers and a whole bunch of license themes. Theese themes usually stays with us 1-2 years, sometimes even 3, and are rarely revisited. Both yes and no. Both are space themes but is a license. And I belive that for a long time Star Wars was the only space theme but with the introduction of Mars Mission in 2007 LEGO restarted their inhouse space theme after a 6 years long hiatus.

I honestly don't know but from what I've heard I believe that Belville will get new sets next year and I got a hint that may suggest that it's minifig scale or that there will be a Belville-ish theme (Paradisia II?) that is minifig scale. But I'm far from 100% sure about that.
-
I highly doubt that there will be any more Atlantis sets coming out after the January release. I believe the theme will share fate with Power miners with one strong year, a half release in January and then it's out. BTW. You didn't happen to see the new Belville sets that I've heard mentioned?

I haven't taken the tour myself but in Jonathan Bender's book "LEGO: A Love Story" he takes the tour. You get to see the factory where they make the bricks, you get a set that is truly unique for this tour (last year it was a model of Ole Kirk Christiansen's house) and finally, and best of all, you get to go into their "secret" vault where they keep a MISB copy of almost every set released.

The retailer catalogue includes a small picture (a preliminary for sets that will be released the current year) and some specifications of the set like name and number and the size of the set's box but there are no prices. None that is human readable at least.

Yeah... It was released just some 8 months ago...

Modular Building Exclusive Sets
Mirandir replied to LegoBuilder's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
It's not discontinued yet. But from what I've heard from my sources it will be officially discontinued at the end of this year (december 31). But if Cafe Corner was any indication GG will most likely get sold out in a month or two... -
Why has Kingdoms replaced Castle on Lego.com?
Mirandir replied to LegoFreak5's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well Lego does a complete overhaul of their evergreen themes (city, space, Castle etc) every few years. This year it was Castle's turn. And it's quite different. Two human factions, no trolls, no skeletons and no dragons. And since the new Castle theme's sets came out before the lifespan on all the old Castle sets had run out I guess LEGO felt that a new name was needed so kids could tell them apart. And since Castle is now becoming obsolete while "Kingdoms" is just getting started Castle is being removed from the site. -
I'd bet that it's just like with power miners. Four final sets. Klaus-Dieter: Do you remember what general color the "temples" are?
-
Yeah, I agree that "NinjaGo" or whatever it'll be called in stores will be an action theme. And I find it likely that it'll replace World racers. For some reason World Racers seems like a one-year-theme to me. And, no, I currently have no inside information for either this ninja theme or World Racers' fate for next year.

I take this pretty much as a confirmation of a series 3 and maybe even more... -

Unfortunatly series 2 release is so close upon series 1 that I don't think it will be that much different in availability or quantity. I'm prtyy sure tha series 2 is already manufactured and just waiting to be distributed. Series 3 on the other hand... -

My Series 1 Collection is placed on a small shelf hanging on the wall. Besides theese minifigs the shelf also holds some books, boardgames and Architecture sets. There's room for series 2 also, and maybe series 3, but after that it'll get a bit crowded and I'll need to clear some stuff of there or find a new place for them..... :(

If I'm short on stock of one or more bricks I turn to Bricklink. If the bricks I need are expensive I just have to be patient and order them a few at the time until I have the stock I need for the project. If the item doesn't exist in the color I need I go back to the "drawing board" or scrap the project all toghether.

TLG needs to know what colors are missing in existing elements
Mirandir replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Here are two parts that I could really use in a new color: Part No: 60608 Name: Window 1 x 2 x 3 Pane with Thick Corner Tabs New color: Sand Green Part No: 60594 Name: Window 1 x 4 x 3 no Shutter Tabs New color: Sand Green -
Don't know much about next years sets other than that there won't be any hospital theme. But I've recieved a very-very-very vague hint that gave me a feeling that we might see an increased number of female minifigs next year... But I'm far from 100% sure about that. Might just be wishful thinkig from my part...

Oh man and I who rarely orders from S@H. And the shipment for just BrickJournal more than doubles the cost of it.
-
unfortunatly from what I've been hearing we won't get any hospital theme any sooner than 2012. I'm thinking that this is the last set for city that we'll get this year. In just a month or two next years releases will start to leak...
