  1. The interview was only a few weeks ago so it's definitely recent, and concerned a system scale rather than UCS scale model. We've speculated in other threads that LEGO have kind of designed themselves into a corner with this one. The last TIE was £65 IIRC, which would make a bomber of similar scale around the £90 - £100 mark (I think @Mandalorianknight did a cost experiment along the same lines with a rather good bomber MOC recently). The designers said in the interview that the play features they'd be able to fit in wouldn't really be justified at the price point, and I guess a similar point could be made about the interceptor. You do raise an interesting point about the variants, though if the defender and crawler did sell poorly I would put it down to just being really obscure variants. I would like to know how well that '06 interceptor sold though.
  2. Huzzah! I really hope it's good, this might be my most anticipated LEGO Star Wars release for a long while.
  3. This is a great point actually, they are streets ahead of the much-derided flick fire missiles. I... Kind of agree with this. I do feel like some people place way too much importance on the figures when looking at sets (see: Ahsoka, P2 Rex, Cody...), but as someone who does a fair bit of MOCing they are of course the only purist source of minifigures, so I can see both sides. Another one prompted by the 2020 set thread: the rate of Luke's landspeeders and snowspeeders is spot on. We've had 5 landspeeders over 21 years, so more or less every four years which is perfect for remakes. The rate of snowspeeders we get is higher, but that's fine as well since they are not unique vehicles and can be used to 'army build' to an extent. Their size makes them perfect for low-price sets, and the more of them we get the better.
  4. This would be really interesting to see actually. I guess they could use some printed 4x4 dishes similar to what they had on the TIE pilot for the Starbirds?
  5. Some of the recent sets - price notwithstanding - are among the best that LEGO has ever made. And we have enough Clone Wars sets. We don't need any more than we are getting.
  6. Very nice shape to this, I love the idea of it being a pirate radio station! The 'look' that Resistance-era ships have has some great subtleties but you've nailed it here.
  7. I don't think they need bulking up - they are pretty spindly in the movies and the current piece gets that across pretty well. The arm thing is pretty annoying but not a deal breaker. All subjective though! Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't think the American continent exclusivity has been confirmed yet - we know it'll be at Target in the US and TRU in Canada, not whether it'll be available in Europe. That said I wouldn't be surprised if it was US only as that's effectively what it would've been anyway being a SDCC set.
  8. Seconded it's like the Night Buzzard or Soulless One all over again...
  9. I don't think the B1 would need updating - the only thing I can think of would be separate legs as @TeeNuggetTa said. The B2 on the other hand... Nearly every single one I've had has had the clip on the legs snap. Admittedly the last one I can remember buying was in 2014, but if a blue MTT is going to happen I would really want TLG to fix that, whether it's an issue with design or the colour of plastic making it brittle.
  10. I thought Krennic's shuttle was a great set in fairness, but it is a shame we didn't get the cargo shuttle. I'd love to have seen the prototype they made for that, assuming they did one. If they are to make Bad Batch sets I imagine the shuttle would make the most sense - it was in TCW S7 and will probably crop up in the new series seeing as it's basically their equivalent of the A-Team van.
  11. What other weapons have been dual-molded, out of curiosity? I can't really think of any that would need it apart from blasters - Han's DL-44 could look pretty sweet if it was made as a specially made part in brown and black.
  12. In fairness back in '99 would have been yellow rather than the flesh we have now I do agree though, it's especially bad with white print on darker pieces.
  13. Love this, what a charming concept! Does the mechanism turn with the handle?
  14. They're both outliers when it comes to how long sets are on shelves though. If anything I guess it could be to do with LEGO's new adult marketing strategy - maybe they're retiring so they can re-re-release it with the whole 18+ aesthetic.
  15. I wouldn't say either is an early retirement, they've both been around for a while now. I'm surprised they've stuck around for this long to be honest.
  16. Same here, I haven't bought anything from LEGO for a long time. The VIP programme isn't as useful as it once was since they changed it which has definitely had an impact, for me at least. At this point if it's a set I perceive to be of decent value I'd consider getting it from the website directly, but at this point that's only really the Razor Crest and 501st set, and I'll probably indulge in an advent calendar. I've always had a weakness for UCS sets but those are generally decent value, even if the price is high. The rest I can wait on.
  17. This. AFOLs are a small enough sect of LEGO's market, and army builders are likely an even smaller part of that. I'd be quite upset if the battle packs were canned completely as they are a great way into the hobby, and the only other thing in Star Wars around the same price point is a microfighter or two, and I know which I'd rather have. I won't get too carried away though - it's possible we'll get them in summer instead, and after all it is only a rumour. I am skeptical we'd get 6 figures in a $30 set given we've had a $70 set with half that number, among other things.
  18. I believe the one we see in Rebels and beyond is based on a Kenner toy, hence its slightly odd design. That was my first thought when I saw it in the show as well, but then this is a universe where walkers are seen to be a valid military asset and not something that can be defeated with some tough rope. This is a great rendition of it, as per usual!
  19. No Rebel Friend? I don't want it. It would be cool to get Red, Gold and Blue leaders in a set like this, with maybe Dutch and Wedge/Biggs as well. You could even be really cheeky and throw Hera Syndulla in given the Ghost was in Rogue One.
  20. I know it's a lot smaller but if they could make Home One work (great set BTW), they can make Yavin work. When have past UCS sets been revealed, normally first week of September?
  21. I'm always interested to meet fellow engineer AFOLs, I certainly share your feelings on 3D software and the problem-solving aspect! Fantastic MOC, certainly a terrific effort if you've only just got back into the hobby!! I love this ship so I'll be the first to express interest in instructions.
  22. Hi all, After spending a lot of time making Star Wars MOCs, I've ventured back into the realm of my imagination to come up with what for now will be called a Freight Hopper! LEGO Freight Hopper MOC by TeddytheSpoon, on Flickr The design is based on one of my very first creations back when I was 12 or so, which I unfortunately don't have any pictures of. I re-imagined it and had a blast, so it might be something I do more often in future! LEGO Freight Hopper MOC by TeddytheSpoon, on Flickr While it wasn't intentional it bears more than a passing resemblance to a Sikorsky CH-54 helicopter with its infamous missing middle. In my head this is a small freighter designed for short-range cargo deliveries or container handling in large freight depots. LEGO Freight Hopper MOC by TeddytheSpoon, on Flickr At present it has four cargo pods on board, I'm planning on making a variety of different containers for different purposes so watch this space!
  23. I agree with this, I have the Star Destroyer and it's a great little set. Aside from the lack of figs I think there was some confusion over who the set was actually targeted at. That said with LEGO's 18+ sets I could see them making a return, especially given the Bespin set is marketed as such and is around the same price I would expect midi sets. On that note, a few things I'd like to see at midi scale: Nebulon B, Venator, Trade Federation Control Ship, Hammerhead Cruiser, First Order Dreadnought, Snoke's Cruiser.
  24. These are great as per - the landspeeder set looks fantastic, I love how the spring-loaded shooters are integrated.
  25. Oooooh, does this include the IT-S? EDIT figured I could just look myself... No IT-S by the looks of it. Will just have to wait for those to come back in stock
