[TC12] Highflyer
Jim replied to Leonard Goldstein's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great to hear! It's something which pleases me as well. And it's the reason why we have many Technic contests. Even though it is a contest, the main ingredient is to have fun. -

Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We are on page 19 of the 2018 1H set discussion. If you browse through some of the pages, you will see that discussion is about the leaked pictures According to our site guidelines it's okay to post a link to a prelim image. However, being a huge online community, we have implicitly agreed to do our best to prevent images from being leaked (well, exposed actually, since they already have been leaked). Not every moderators acts the same way, but I prefer not to have links directly to the leaked images. Linking to another community is somewhat different, since it's clear where the images are being hosted and TLG can take a course of action and contact the other community. It's a thin line, I know. I can't prevent you guys from posting them here, but when they are posted, I will remove the link. In other words; you have to be quick (after I remove the images they usually float around the web, email and PM) -

Hi. Welcome to EB. Even though it's not clearly stated in the rules, we don't like links to confidential images being posted here. I have removed the link. -

That's the image I posted on the 25th of September. Why are you reposting? You beat me to it -
Nice work! I really like Western buildings. Maybe we should do something with it, like a contest or theme month.

This is turning out to be a great contest. I really love the entries I see in the Entry topic. I haven't read all the discussion topics, so don't think I don't like you entry if I haven't commented on it. I only made two or three comments, so no worries. I will definitely take my time to go through all the entries. I'm loving it so far

Cool In the end it might boil down to Milan, Blakbird and myself simply synchronizing our votes and adding them to the total. In any case, we will provide openness about this before the voting starts and we will definitely show our votings upon completing the contest.
-
It's already long Of course, we will be open about it. We are just trying to avoid that a "very cool looking sporscar with opening doors" will win, since that's not in the spirit of the contest. And most members (who actively follow the contest) will vote accordingly, but there might be a group of members who simple cast a vote for something that looks "astonishing".
-
Care to elaborate on this point? I really love Doug's entry and it's 100% in the spirit of the contest, since it definitely is a wacky vehicle. How is the contest description different?
-
We have also thought about this and I think we are on the same page We will definitely not dominate the voting.
-
Here's the verdict. We (@Milan, @Blakbird and myself) have acknowledged that at first thought it might seem unfair to change the voting mechanism during. However, we are not changing the voting criteria. Changing the voting criteria would have basically be the same as changing the contest. Since we are judging by the same criteria, there's absolutely no reason to think it's unfair. The voting criteria are: Originality & Wackiness. Looks (shape, color scheme etc). Quality of the build. Functionality. Every contest leaves room for interpretation, but the basic idea should be clear. That's the case in this contest too....build a Wacky Vehicle. It's up to you to fill in the details. There is still room for interpretation, but the voting criteria are clear. We are not underestimating the members who are frequently visiting the Technic forum. We are underestimating the members who only come to the forum to vote. The spirit of the contest should be perfectly clear. Build a Wacky Vehicle and wacky means: "funny or amusing in a slightly odd or peculiar way." We have thought about this and we might try this in a future contest. We already stated that the Top-3 will win prizes, so it seems unfair to change that at this point.

Sorry, I'm still thinking about my sunny holiday with hardly any internet I will get back to you tomorrow, when I have consulted some wise men.

That is what was bothering myself and @Milan. Holiday was very nice. Mostly sunny, with hardly any internet Minus the "almost" part
