You can't prevent it. You can wait till the last week, or so, with creating the WIP topic. But this contest is also about fun and seeing other people's progress. Exactly. It's more fun to see people building. We run contests to get a more active forum, not to have everybody show their MOCs at the end of the contest and that's it. Where's the fun in that.

See my previous comment. And having an Sbrick doesn't mean you can make a cool ride. You can accomplish the same with PF or by manually operating the functions.

That was my initial thought as well, but let's go nuts with this contest and see all the possible cool creations. As @Permo stated, there will always be unfair advantages.

Well, an SBrick (or Buwizz) allows for more options (programming the ride). On the other hand, so does Mindstorms. And PFx brick would allow cool sound effects. I was afraid that people with some of these units have an advantage. But this contest is about cool rides, so it would be a waste to exclude them.

TECHNIC THEME PARK CONTEST The last couple of years TLG has released several theme park rides in the Creator Expert theme. Recently, even a big rollercoaster has been released. We have seen some cool Technic creations in the past and there's even a very cool one being built in the Technic forum right now. So, why not have a Technic Theme Park Contest? DESCRIPTION Build a Theme Park Ride! The ride needs to be operable, so it needs to be a working ride. Functions can be operated manually or motorized. Motorization isn't mandatory. It can also be a combination of manual and motorized functions. You can use any official LEGO motor or electronics you can find, including Mindstorms. SBrick, Buwizz, PFx Bricks and custom LED solutions ARE permitted too. No sculpting, cutting or gluing pieces and no other 3rd party parts (besided electronics and the usual strings, hoses and bands). There is some difference between theme parks, amusement parks and fairgrounds, but for this contest the difference doesn't matter. You can build any ride, but we will use the term Theme Park for this contest. It doesn't even have to be an existing ride. You can come up with your own ride! However, this contest is about the ride, so NO trucks or trailers, just the ride. Of course, you can include Minifigs and use System parts (Modelbuilder style) to decorate the ride. DEADLINE Deadline date is Monday 3rd of September, 2018. Contest will be closed on Tuesday 4th of September, OR LATER. Disclaimer: I will close the contest when I see fit and when I have the time to process the results. This can be later than the deadline date. Please don't complain about this not being fair and all. RULES AND REGULATIONS The following section describes the contest specific and general rules and regulations. But before that, please take notice of a simple motto regarding the Eurobricks Contests: CONTESTS ARE FOR FUN! What do you guys think about SBricks, PFx brick and Buwizz? Allowed or not?

Bumper cars allowed, only when they operate in the ride. So, no separate single bumper car. It needs to be a complete ride.

This will still be a sort of non-vehicle contest, but (probably) more technical than the animal one.

Embargo is 1st of August, so I can provide part lists on that date, no problem.

That's where teamwork comes in

I will probably work/build simultaneously, so there is a chance the forklift will be online sooner

I will probably do 42082, 42081, 42080 and finally 42079, so from big to small.

Just got word that sets will be offered for review. Hopefully they will arrive by the end of next week, so I can start building in the weekend. I will try a different setup for these reviews by the way. Since the write-up is the most time-consuming part, I will try to come up with a setup that allows me to publish more reviews in less time. Not sure how this will be accomplished, but I have to try something, because doing four elaborate reviews is simply taking too much time. And for most sets, you will simply want some decent pictures and possibly a video here and there.

Damnit Allan....you basically just stole the Summary of my review (which I will publish before the weekend) How about you doing the write-up next time?

I'm sorry to see that AMS-2 is bringing a heated discussion. On the other hand; I am not sure why you didn't copy the voting rules we usually have. That would have made sense. Anyway, seeing how this contest evolved, I'd like to stress out that it's better to let us handle the contests. We love initiatives and great ideas, but having staff members running the contest will make it more consistent with previous contests. We do have an idea, but I like to pitch it here before publishing it. Because we have some doubts. How about... "Build a theme park ride" Motorization is allowed but not mandatory. No trucks or trailers for the ride, just the ride itself.

What exactly do you mean? The Microfigures used in Architecture? Do you have a picture?
