  1. How long do you think the Buwizz 2.0 will remain available new? Will it soon be entirely replaced by the 3.0?
  2. Also, I believe the 1999 Super Street Sensation offered an option in which a Mindstorms RCX could be added, and, with an optional remote, remote controlled. (Source: Technicopedia)
  3. You're right, there is a small difference under load, but if I remember correctly it was mostly only noticeable with higher voltage power supplies, unlike the power supplies used in the vast majority of sets sold. I don't think the difference is great enough for Lego to really justify continuing the larger Xl, but they honestly probably will keep making it indefinitely. This is really just wild speculation, anyways!
  4. Well, I'm certainly not one of the best, but it was all trial and error for me... The website Sheepo.es has some interesting suspension designs in the MPS section that may be educational to you, though.
  5. I find it curious to note that the first four C+ Technic sets (Crawler, Liebherr, Rally Car, and Volvo) all used Xl motor(s) for drive, but the fifth and sixth (Buggy and Zetros) have both made due with Ls. I almost wonder whether Lego has realized the Xl's power equivalency to the L and has canceled it for future sets. I don't really expect that this is the case; likely the rumored CAT will include at least one Xl, but it does seem like an intriguing possibility, at least. Either way, I'm happy for Lego to continue using as few Xls as possible, to bring down prices of the much more useful L!
  6. Good work! I'd be quite interested in seeing some screenshots of the code you used for this transmission!

  8. Well, it is cool! I'd rather have cool, pointless functions than nothing, though cool, point-full functions are even better!
  9. Very nice! I think that's the first time I"ve seen a gearbox of that style put into an actual model! Perhaps a white 20T bevel gear would make a more attractive steering knob, though they are rare.
  10. It would be great, but I expect they would need a new battery as well to supply enough current for a significant performance increase.
  11. I wonder if it's possible to mod a 2-speed into it... (Well, of course, it's possible some way or another, but hopefully the set wouldn't need total rebuilding)
  12. I'd guess that the difference is that the 42099 has a very robust steering setup, that can easily stop the motor at each end, while the MOCs (I assume) using it may not be built as strongly. It would be ideal for it to have a low power mode to use when finding the limits, though.
  13. One wonders whether or not Lego has been working on this model for longer than we expected. It seems really dumb to me to build an entire prototype for the previous generation truck, if they knew from the beginning that they were going to be selling the current generation truck. Perhaps they had the original design nearly finished when Ford called and said, "Sorry, we've got a new generation out now. That means you need to make it a crew cab, add larger tires, and change the styling. Oh, and change the color to our new headline color, orange! Thanks," causing Lego to have to rush the design of this truck's front end. Any other ideas of why a previous-gen prototype would even exist?
  14. It's the ugliest BWE you ever did see! I've been trying to build all the flagship sets from 2005 to present from my collection (I've only got the mobile crane mkII and the Volvo hauler left!), but this one was a pain! I borrowed some specialized parts from a friend, but maybe I should have borrowed some simple ones too (or waited until my half built moc is done)! Fortunately, I only ran out of some "unimportant" pieces, like 15L, 11L, and 5L beams, and the practically useless 2L friction pin! Time to see how the beast works!
  15. That first sentence is a rather stretched Biblical allusion, is it not? Also, do you think it is possible to build the original set without the 11L alternating pinhole beams? I'd like to try building it from online instructions once they are available, but I won't have those parts for quite a while. I've got no problem making some mods, but do you think they would be prohibitively complicated?
  16. It's looking great! I believe the rules do permit using 3rd party hose, though, if that's more convenient.
  17. Well, I like it a lot better than the recent Ferrari and Porsche sets, but less than many other sets.
  18. I suppose the reverse Ackermann is an essential feature?
  19. Who knows? I know that'll be the first mod I attempt once I build a LBG copy of it, but who knows when I'll have enough MOCs apart to build this?
  20. Does he mention whether there is a real gearbox or not? If there is one, I guess it would have to be linked to the differential lock.
  21. Yeah, you did a really good job with the pneumatics! The rotating grabber is brilliant too, and the use of those Bionicle beams is perfect. I never knew they fit those plates like that!
  22. Very nice! Are the pneumatics in the trailer RC? The lifting seat is a nice touch. I built the 8049 recently, and did a full RC mod, except for valve switching, and added a cylinder for the claw. There wasn't really enough weight on the front for it to steer though. Your model certainly seems to be inspired by that set, but it looks much more like a MOC than a MOD to me. Nice work!
  23. It does seem somewhat odd that they would release these tires in non-agricultural sets*, if they weren't planning on putting them in some set in which they actually fit better! *The little one did come in a city tractor.
