  1. While using this moc, i've managed to bend the large part of the gear on the rear differential. (The differential part itself - not the smaller inner gears) Has anyone managed that before? Still works of course, but is not very smooth for sure.
  2. Nintendo Switch Pro controller works, as apparently does the Joy-Con that comes with the system. Otherwise, you're looking for any "mfi" bluetooth controller - such as: https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Nimbus-Bluetooth-Mobile-Controller/dp/B01AZC3III/
  3. I made a decision this morning to go with 8294 - so thanks for that! I found a good second hand set, with instructions, and have managed to source a box (i think!). So this can be a great present in the end. I have a spare Power Functions set too - so i can throw that in, and make it something truly special. Thanks everyone for your help! That is really cool! However i was dead-set on getting an "official" model, with box, etc. This looks really interesting though, maybe for a fun side project :D
  4. I completely agree! I have a bucket from 42055 - ordered as a curiousity a while ago, but didn't do much with it yet.
  5. That is a cool website, saw one on there that i never knew existed! Looks like it's the case that there are no currently produced smaller ones though, that's a shame. I know about Bricklink, but the sets i'm interested in are of course expensive there too :D Might be good for boxes and instructions though!
  6. Hey, hope this topic is allowed. :) My son is going crazy after seeing the Liebherr set (42100) as he's wanted a Lego Excavator for a while (every time he see's one outside, or see's a lego bucket that could fit one). However, that set is immense, and he's rather young. Is the Lego group currently making any smaller excavator/digger models? For example, a few that look fairly decent were 8455 & at a push, 8043. I've tried browsing around, but don't see anything similar unfortunately. These old sets in boxes are extremely expensive too, so no go on picking up an old one that someone's selling off. Any ideas? If it were me, i'd just get a second-hand one, or order parts, but i want to give him the full magical-opening-the-box experience he deserves for an upcoming birthday. :) EDIT: I just realised if i could source a box, and get the parts elsewhere that could work too, as a last resort... hmm.
  7. Another trick i use to get them out - is see if they can be pushed from the other side with a longer axle. i.e. axles being used as "pins", can usually be pushed out from the other side with say a 10 long axle. There wasn't really anything else that was difficult - usually the locked in place things just needed another piece removing first, which wasn't entirely obvious to begin with, but with a few seconds of thought was okay. :)
  8. I took apart this very assembly last night, and it was tough. I couldn't grip it with fingers alone, so i used tweezers and wrapped my shirt on it slightly. Provided enough grip, but was still very tough! I suppose needle-nose pliers would've been a better idea.
  9. You can assign multiple motors to the same control - and they're proportional too. So it seems you could at least get steering on one stick axis, and power on the other axis. Would have to experiment i bet, not sure how well that would work. (my motors are in-built in a model atm, so can't test for you)
  10. No - as the WiiMote doesn't use the correct standard, and is therefore not supported by default on Android or iOS. The Nintendo Switch Joycon works, as does the Pro Controller. PS4 Controller works, as does the Xbox One controller. Xbox 360 wireless does not, unfortunately (i tried - it's the same issue as above - not the supported standard and therefore won't pair) Hmm, could be that it's much easier to get it moving with a larger burst of immediate acceleration. cool! I do have one problem though - my model turns more tightly to the left, than the right. (i.e. steering left is tighter than turning right - by a lot). Is there an obvious fix for this? (Doesn't seem to happen with the Control+ app). I have tried the auto-calibrate, but that doesn't resolve it.
  11. Thankyou for this wonderful app! I've got it on an old Android phone, using my Nintendo Switch Pro controller and controlling the Extreme Off-roader! Oddly, it seems the off-roader is more capable with the controller, than via the Lego Control+ app. Almost as if the motors are slightly more powerful... Though i doubt this is really the case, perhaps it's more the precision available that makes it easier to control when crawling. It's a shame the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller isn't compatilble with iOS, as that would've meant just using my normal phone :) Once again though, good work!
  12. So cool looking, well done on that one!
  13. Registered an account just to post on this! You have done a great job of capturing the old style lines that accompanied the classic roaster look if you ask me, nice job! I do think that it needs something below the grill at the front though - as it sits now, it's a little too high.
