  1. Got into a Pixar mood recently and watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in pretty much one sitting. Love them both, still classics, and I really enjoy picking up all the references now. Then I watched up at the cinema, and I thought it was brilliant. The only reason I can't say one of Pixar's best is because only Cars and A Bug's Life were not as good, and even then they were still really good. The first ten minutes of Up were really sad though, as was other parts, though ultimately uplifting, as a cynic like me needs every so often. To the - Squirrel!
  2. Yeah, I love that cartoon, especially everything Zurg, since we would get a lot of purple from him. Still, I admittedly would far prefer to get sets from other Disney movies, especially The Incredibles, which in my opinion has the best potential for sets, given all the vehicles; Syndrome's jet, Omnidroid, Mr Incredible's Car, Syndrome's henchmen's flyers etc. Monster's Inc would also be pretty neat. To the Brickmobile!
  3. Ha! I see a finger! I'm guessing Friendlich will turn up soon...however soon that is in this comic Nice to see the UFO again, I'm starting to think their appearance last time wasn't just for comedy. Oh, and the snow scenes look really good too. To the Brickmobile!
  4. I love the joke about Friendlich's obsessiveness, he is a fun character so I hope he atleast gets some sort of reward to give him a break from the butt monkey treatment I do love how you're referencing a lot of other happenings in this story while still keeping it somewhat confined. I'd really like to see this approach in future stories, as it really makes me aware of the larger universe around these characters. Also, nice job lampshading the existence of the surfboard on the caravan. To the Brickmobile!
  5. Hey Skinny Boy, I'm headed for the gold Coast, Queensland for a two week holiday this Saturday, so that'll be a slight delay for my project. I trust this is not a problem as we don't really have a time limit? Rest assured my part is well on its way and I reckon I'll even be able to post my first part before I go. To the Brickmobile!
  6. Miss Eleanor's dress is quite ample in general, eh? eh? Haha! Eep! My sincerest apologies Miss! You know I owe you a life debt, if there is anything you need?
  7. Agreed, I hope to own one one day. Pith helmets forever! Great vignette Penguin, I - PENGUIN! You're back! I haven't seen you in ages friend! Great stuff here as always friend, loved the useo f the Indy stickers, and the dwarven minifig is one of the best I've seen. The simplicity really sells it I think, but I also love that plant column, very neat. To the Brickmobile!
  8. One thing I have to let you know TheBrickster when you see this; I'll be on holiday at the Gold Coast, Queensland for two weeks from Saturday, so I'll probably have ot pull out of the game that day, unless I can use my family's laptop there. I'll let you know further details later, but suffice to say, should I not be able to continue, I would like to die in the bloodiest, goriest and downright most horribly way possible please. In the game, that is To the Brickmobile!
  9. Lets head fellas! I don't care how long this here walk is anymore, I just wanna get out of this town an' if that means we have ta go, then let's go! In the meantime, would anyone like ta know how ta get rich quick? Gotta couple of pointers for ya.
  10. Woah woah woah woah! Not hentai. REALLY. NOT. HENTAI. to the Brickmobile!
  11. Wonderful mech! I love the use of Fabuland, even though I'm not a big fan of the theme myself I like that it is still being used today. The use of stickers is great too, I love it when a moc makes good use of stickers, however annoying they can be. To the Brickmobile!
  12. Sweet new Batmobile Baronsat! Is this an upgrade of one of oyur previous Batmobiles, it looks somewhat similar. Either way the design is brilliant, I especially love the bat motif on the front, and the use of the grill piece. As for the gadgets, wonderful stuff! Does it all just slide out like that? My favourite ones are the flamethrower, harpoons and mine launcher, since every good Bond or Batmobile must have mines! To the Brickmobile!
  13. Awesome stuff Slyowl! I love the rex-with-spikes, and the addition of guns naturally makes it more awesome! The jeep is very cool as well, the whole setup is. I must admit though, my favourite part is the little goat! It is so adorable! To the Brickmobile!
  14. Not bad plans for movin' this here tanker fellas! I must admit I am not the most skilled man for this here sort of thing, but if anyone has a task fer me I'll be happy ta oblige! For now though Mark, deal me in partner! I plan to learn this game, what it is it; some sort of variation on Texas Hold'Em?
  15. Oh man that's an awesome save! And it's called Temple of Doom for some reason too! To the Brickmobile!
  16. Thanks mate, glad to agree to disagree. I certainly respect your opinion and you've swayed more on a few things, so I also apologise if I came across as elitist. I don't mean to Another so-bad-it's-good movie for me is the remake of The Wicker Man. From Cage's awful acting, him punching out women in a bear suit and generally being hilarious, I can't not enjoy its awfulness. To the Brickmobile!
  17. You both (Tyrant and and to a lesser extent 5150Lego) bring good points to the discussion, despite a possible dig from the latter. I think you partly missed the point of what I was saying Tyrant, as I clearly said that I agree movies can't be measured, but for the most part they can still be defined as good, bad or great. For example, if I just made a ball of playdoe and called it art, it would clearly be awful. How awful? There is no measure, but still pretty bad I would imagine. I concede defeat in subjectivity of plot holes and symbolism though, that is an excellent point. As for your critic point, good point, but I don't see what that has to do with my argument. However, 5150Lego, you seem to misunderstand my main point. I really enjoyed Transformers, just as I really enjoy Indiana Jones, which is another movie high on action and low on plot etc. My point was that ROTF unlike its predecessor failed (atleast for me and others) to be what it was trying to be; a fun popcorn movie. It went too long, went too far in some specifics and had pretty poor humour compared to the first. Is this subjective? Yes, to a fair degree, and just to clarify to prevent the analogy happening again; no, I do not believe one can accurately measure its faults. Doesn't mean it doesn't have any nor that because a truckload of people saw it that it was good; marketing, hype and Megan Fox play large roles in that. You label me as being too much like a movie critic, but movie critics are all different and Transformers got mostly good reviews, while ROTF didn't. Doesn't mean they are all right, doesn't mean they are all "high and mighty" either. I'm merely expressing an opinion that is just as valid as yours. I'm a big fan of subjectivity, but it only goes so far before it becomes a defense for something bad. Plenty of movies fail the criteria they aim for (eg. action movie entertaining, mystery movie not being damn obvious). To the Brickmobile!
  18. Well, the problem with your stance is that you act like everything is subjective, when even many of those who share similar beliefs to you will agree that the subjectivity will only stretch so far. Is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest a better film than Fist Spaceship on Venus? Yes, its not even a matter debating, because while comparing One Flew with a film that is well made, well shot etc would be subjective as you say, that film is so awful on all levels that subjectivity is thrown out the window. There is no arguing because it is a downright awful film. Likewise, less extreme examples are relevant too. Storytelling cannot be measured no, nut you make the easy assumption that this means one cannot have bad plots. There can be bad plots, and there can be good plots, its only when the distinction becomes harder to make between two good films, or two films of wildly different genre and style, that it becomes subjective. I never stated that movies can be measured as fact, nor compiled in a list from bad to good, but it is possible to categorise movies into basic groups of good, bad and great etc based on their collective wholes, since flaws are not subjective, plot holes are not subjective, continuity errors are not subjective, and the presence of metaphors, symbolism, or clever characterisation are not really majorly subjective either. Subjective is often just used so one person can defend a blatantly awful piece, or in rare cases, because it that applies in several parts of film making. To the Brickmobile!
  19. Actually it makes perfect sense, I don't see how you can't grasp that. Yes, critics do go majorly overboard, but for the most part, people will pay through the nose to watch a movie with huge explosions and "cool factor" regardless of good plot. Citizen Kane is for example, one of the greatest movies of all time and on of my favourites, but I doubt the majority of people know anything about it. Just because a movie makes a truckload of cash doesn't mean it is good, it merely means it is popular. Critics don't always get it right, Fight Club is a brilliant movie that was panned at its time and guess what? Barely made a cent at the box office. Still, the movie kicks Transformers left and right in just its opening scenes. It is the distinction of a good movie regardless of what you think of it in your opinion, and a movie you like. A movie myself that is a sort of guilty pleasure is the horrible American version of Godzilla, which while terrible in terms of plot, ripping off of other films and bad humour, I always enjoy if for some crazy reason I can't explain, despite mocking it even while I watch. To the Brickmobile!
  20. Awesome building Admiral M, though I think it would be cool if a section at the top was torn down a bit. Are you going to order the pieces from LDD? I'm not sure what the current stance on computer creation are. To the Brickmobile!
  21. Fixed. Good examples of good sequels could also be The Godfather II, Mad Max 2 and From Russia with Love. Still, I felt District 9 was a good standalone film, I don't feel it needs a sequel. To the Brickmobile!
  22. I say we turn back, if that there town is so far away as you say, there's no reason ta cross this bridge unless we want oa go the same way as poor Bulldog. Has there been any placed unexplored yet?
  23. My honest apologies, I have an awful way of doing that I really mean it when I say I'm not intentionally trying to do that, you've done a great job. I've worked on so very much post-apoc recently it took a great sales pitch to get me to do three entire parts! And black rabbit, I hope you didn't take offense to my comment. I was just referring to how we went with a wall and not rock style. I do love your creation, the mini-crane is a superb idea I'd never have thought of. Great stuff. Perhaps maybe not a wall height, but a minimum wall height that must be met, like, say, 10 bricks tall? Not rules on the baseplate colour as I'm aware of it, or colours as it is. What we're aiming for is a more realistic depiction of a fortified post-apoc town, so the main colours will probably be browns, greys, blacks and tans. The water idea is awesome by the way, I love it. I still haven't finished my first part yet, but suffice to say it is well on its way! It is a small shop that has been integrated into the wall, and is the main barracks for the wall defense on whatever side I'm on (forgotten ). I've done the first floor, and the second floor will be a lot more ravaged, with the third floor likely being just a few tiny platforms for snipers and watchers and such. My colour scheme is a mix of tan (which is the building's original colour), light grey and dark grey, with small amounts of black and brown for sections that have been built in since the apocalypse. To the Brickmobile!
  24. I'd say go fir it, it is a really neat set and much better in person than what you think it will be from the boxart. Still, it depends, I loved it for the parts, though I stand by my statement that it is a great set by itself. To the Brickmobile!
  25. Peppermint M, the reason people (and I mean that very loosely, Oky and I were the only ones to call you on it) reacted to your post had absolutely not the slightest iota of a thing to do with your more positive outlook on the movie. If you are more of an optomist more power to you. The reason was actually that you quoted my post (which was quite obviously a joke) simply to mention how you felt Star Wars and Batman were awful. That's your opinion, I myself don't like the new Star Wars films, but the fact that it had absolutely not a thing to do with what I said or what was being discussed was the problem. It would be like me quoting Oky's last post part "nothing to worry about" and then saying "nothing to worry about just like that last crappy Indy film right?" I didn't even accuse you of anything, I was just confused as to what the heck you were trying to say and how you drew that from my comment. I still am. Moving on, I'll still be skeptical of this project however, I just don't think Lego has material to support a film, and mixing live action with animation has failed more often than not. To the Brickmobile!
