Decluttering Your LEGO Lair
Captain Green Hair replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well most of my stuff is in parts, which are mostly sorted by colour. Minifigs, technic and some other special stuff go separate. There are only MOCs together in 1 piece at my place. At the moment a lot is in storage though. When the new house is finished by the end of next year, I will further tidy up the collection and I also will have space to do a big layout. -
That sure is Impressive! I love the lit up treasure and the flying fish. The shape of the rock head puzzles me though, what was he after?

My jaw just hit the floor, this is really incredible Ralph!

Is that tank your work? I really like that one and would love a video of it running. I also ordered 2 more large sprockets for the rear wheels, that might help as well. Next time I'll share some pictures of the frame as well, I can't see it making a lot of friction. But then again, I'm a Technic noob.

Yesterday I got a box in the mail. A good friend that works for Volvo has send me a custom set of 2 Volvo engines! The set contains models of a Penta IPS 600 and an Aero RM12 engine. The first I think is a naval engine, since it has propellers. The other one is a jet engine which is currently used in the Gripen fighter jet. First a shot of the box: You can see it comes in a perfectly fitting box, with a nice picture of the models on the front. When we open the box we see this: The parts for bot models are packed seperated, which makes building a bit easier. The set comes with nice and clear colour printed instructions for both models: It is easy to tell dark grey and black in them! These are the bag contents for the first model, the Penta IPS 600: There are s lot of nice parts in there, like silver propellers and black 2x4 tiles. This is what the finished model looks like: A nice feature is that the propellers can actually rotate. Also note the cool printed tile with the model name on it. These are the bag contents for the second model: And the finished model: There are no play features in this one, but it does look exactly like the real thing. Lastly there are some extra parts in the set. I am very pleased with this set, as I think it is really special my friend designed it and has send me a copy. Now I need to find out for what occasion these were made and how many there are. But perhaps he can answer this himself. So that concludes my review, I hope you like it!

Does anybody else like Motorcycles around here?

Have a safe trip Sieggy and please do share some pictures! -
Ok, so the first advise I have incorporated is switching some gears. Now my gearbox looks like this: This certainly improves the driving capability, but also makes it rather slow. I'm afraid that when I continue building the model, it will become heavier and even more slow.. Does anybody have a good idea to make it slightly faster? Thanks Johan!

Is 80 Euro for Brickbeard's Bounty a good deal?
Captain Green Hair replied to Cammo's topic in LEGO Pirates
80 is ok, I guess they are hard to find nowadays. They were at about 65 euro's last time I saw them. -
Nice one Mike, I knew it was you!

Absolutely great display guys! And it is really nice what you have put together for Zorro. I hope I can join you some day!

Maybe this shouldn't go here, but.... How many hours do rechargeable AAA batteries last when you power 2 XL motors with it? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Thanks for the ideas guys! Good thinking, but unfortunately my current front doesn't allow the swap. I also don't want to make it too slow... That is an idea I'm considering, however, the real Tiger has only front sprockets. I've now swapped the small 12T bevel with the wider one, this grips better I see. I'm now beginning to worry that it is also a structural problem, it keeps ripping the front frame apart..

Did you actually hear it speak?

Hey that looks Dutch, I like it!

Thank you Dluders! Yes the torsion suspension works great! I'm not looking for pads, I don't think that is the problem. It drives straight forward, but on turning and/or going over obstacles, it stalls. That is the problem.. :/ Thanks for the heads up on the links, but I had to have the black ones for the realistic effect.

I think this is my absolute favourite, it's soooo ffing clever!

Hi, For quite some time now I have been working on a 1:15 scale R/C Tiger tank. It is a mid production tank from 1943. This one didn't have the air filter system on the back and also had some other less visible changes from his predecessor. My model doesn't have Zimmerit, the camouflage simply makes this impossible. I'll first show you some shots of what she looks like now: And my first ever Miniland scale figure, the commander: I think the model looks quite all right so far, however, it drives like a wet towel. I've started about 10 months ago and tried just about everything to make it run properly. My hands are in my hair! I've used the principle of Sariel's torsion suspension system. I've made it a little sturdier to properly carry the weight and to keep the tracks running smoothly around the disk wheels. The 2 XL motors drive the large sprocket wheels directly, as you can see here: And here is what the inside looks like right now: So, please help! Any tips that may lead to a smooth ride are more then welcome. Thank you in advance!

Build a frigate with Captain Green Hair
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Looks quite good from what I can see! Your masts appear to be a bit too high, the main mast should be as long as, or slightly longer then the entire ship. -
I somehow must have missed this one... I think you've done a very nice job, it looks quite realistic! The stern could use a little more detail and might look better in brown. And I think the pirates would have placed the cannons on deck, rather then cramping them just under it. But that's just my 2 cents.

You can fit an axle through, technic pins also work. Once the rigging is on, it will be far from fragile. -
I'm not impressed, the QAR looks a lot more like the real thing. The BP should have 3 windows on the side at an angle, just to mention a thing. The colours are fine for me, even in all black it would look cool. The minifigs of course are great, I really like all the POTC figures that are out now. Since this is a preliminary picture, I hope TLC will do its best to make it more appealing.

Build a frigate with Captain Green Hair
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Do you mean the platforms in the mast? The middle or the top one? You said a half round shape, so I guess you mean the middle one. On the middle one I made a railing with rigid hose, it is attached by 1x1 tiles with a clip on top. Does that answer your question? -

I'm curious to see what it looks like! Are there any specific parts you didn't get? Please be a bit more specific and perhaps I can explain.
