I like to have a bit of accuracy in the scale of the models I build, but not to the extreme. For instance I think a train should be wider (8-10) then a truck (6-8) then a car. (4-6) I do like to make them slightly bigger, as it allows more detail in the models. So I made a bit of realism simple for myself.

Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks for the kind words guys, the new house is still a big hassle. I hope to find time soon again to do some work on her. The black lines in Dutch are ''berghout'', the term for a single one. In English it would be hull protector beams, bumper woods or something along those lines. They are rebuilding the replica there, it will take about 3 years though I think. It still floats as it is mounted on a pontoon. Thanks for the blog post! I believe the pumps are in some of the earlier pictures, but I'm too lazy to look for them.... She is far from fragile, the move went very smooth! -
Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!

I'm afraid I have to put this project on ice for some time, since we are in the progress of buying a new house. I do think I owe you guys a small update, here are some shots just before she went into storage: As you can see I have started to build up the side further and the first gunports have been installed. Next to that all the supports for the main deck have been made, so I can start laying it in. Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, I had little time to shoot a few pics. The new house will be finished somewhere next year, then I'll finally have a decent space to build and I will continue on her. Luckily she is staying at a good friend's house, so I might get a chance to do some work on her in the meantime. Who knows? -
I really like this ship! The hull is very well made with beautiful lines! The only thing I don't really like is the yellow and blue, it just doesn't look realistic to me. I think I would like the coloured line better in all brown and with just a touch of yellow at the bow and stern. Good luck on completing her!

Happy birthday, have a great day!

That looks great already, you've managed to get the shape perfect! Again watch the line along the side, right now it is a bit too much curved for my taste.

The window can be fixed with a single pane, here's my 4 midsection frigate:

LDD MOC Brick Hull for future project

Technique is quite successful! -
Happy birthday guys! I just woke up, does that count as an excuse?
-
So if it hasn't changed I don't need to post? Would like the hair to be the long classic female wig in green though. What number are you aiming for this year?
-
Looks quite good already, I like the colour scheme! Be careful not to bend the line too hard along the side now it looks a bit V shaped on the side.
-
That's a great model and the instructions are easy enough to follow. Thank you for sharing!

And here we have another redcoat that thinks he can beat us with just a few minifigures. Just kidding, you have a very impressive army and some very nice MOCs to compliment it! Your wigs look absolutely amazing, would you be willing to make some for the community?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Captain Green Hair replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I just got series 3 last week and I must say I love it. The new caps look great and the detail like the ears on the elf are great! What is also pretty cool is the stereo and the fishing rod, can be used in any town. -

Build a frigate with Captain Green Hair
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
I always make my yards like the old Lego sets were, and then attach the sails with some black sowing string. If you check out my BS folder, you should see some close ups of how it is done. I'll post the frigate sometime this week, as she is complete now. -
Achille, a French frigate carrying 36 guns
Captain Green Hair replied to BrickPerfection's topic in Pirate MOCs
Just wow, it's a beautiful and clean looking work of art. You've managed to use some of the best techniques out there, blend it with some of yours and voila! The interior is great and the fact that the top is modular....hats of to you sir! Only nitpick from me is that I don't really like the metal hooks in the rigging, I think there are Lego parts out there that can be used. -
My very first Pirates display
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thank you for all the nice comments guys! Since we are an international forum, I decided to keep the name in English. I wanted my cannon effect to be Lego, so this is the best ay to do it, without making it look bulky. I've tried several ways to make the cannon effect, the one in the picture is also a good one, I might give it a try next time. I wonder if it doesn't look bulky IRL though. SNOT water rules buddy, and it is cheaper then baseplates. You are right, down with the British, we shall have our (HMS) victory! Every time I'm on MSN, you are not there. You need to stay up late or get up really early buddy! -
Happy birthday Quarry buddy, hope you have a great day with bricks and beers! Cheers to all the other birthday people too of course!

NEW! Who will come to the Event
Captain Green Hair replied to Ras 74's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I'll be travelling with Bonaparte, so 31-5 for me as well. Starting countdown! -
So I just awoke after a long weekend of Lego at the Brick Tricks show in Tielt Belgium. It was a great show and I had the chance to meet some really great people. The show had about 4.000 visitors (correct me if I'm wrong Patje)and was not too big or too small, just about right for me. The great thing was that there were no fences in front of the displays, though there was a good social control. I was mostly NOT at my display, and nothing went missing. For me this was exactly how a Lego show should be, so thumbs up to the organization! Now, with no further ado I give you my display, the only Pirates there this year. First of all an overall shot: It was Captain Green Hair: Versus Captain Blue hair: Patrick was trying to figure out how a cannon works, he decided to just whack Spongebob with it: Some unlucky sailor fell in the water and had to swim for his life: More can be seen in my Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=461141 So there you have it, I hope you like it. Thanks!

That looks quite good, better then anything I could do with LDD! Your stern could use a bit of improvement, the cabin is sticking out a bit much now. I suggest you either lengthen the hull a bit or make some arches to close the gap a bit. Keep it up!

Happy birthday Kim, have a good one!
