  1. I'm only 3 episodes deep, the Clayface episode is my favorite one so far (Bats was waiting for that entrance, Bruce is a theatre kid ). Loved the Catwoman episode too. I honestly thought it would be more of an interconnected story (like, each episode focusing on and continuing a central conspiracy a la Long Halloween), but so far so good. I have some notes about characterizations, but a solid show. Batmobile and Catmobile need to happen, though.
  2. (It's clear we hold different views, let's agree to disagree) It's just a strange choice. Batman has a lot of underutilized female characters begging for the spotlight. Penguin doesn't even need to be in this. To be perfectly clear, if this was, say, Peyton Riley Ventriloquist over Arnold Wesker, nobody would bat an eye. That's all it boils down to. You can claim that's bogus, but it is only my opinion. Can't seem to make that literally any clearer. And further to the original point, I agree that the change doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. It will still be a good show. It's just not comics-to-the-screen, and I'm a sucker for the classics (we've never gotten a 100% accurate adaptation of any comic book material, and likely never will). Interestingly enough, we will be getting some deep cuts, character wise, not sure why that thinking didn't naturally lend itself to a diverse cast of pre-existing characters, but it is what it is. All in all, let's look forward to being blown away by the Caped Crusader. (This all feels like a sinister diversion to keep us from uncovering more LEGO conspiracies)
  3. How does that even remotely make sense? I guess we can just assume that it's somewhat canon. Or maybe Peacemaker Season 2 picks up following the Tomorrowverse Crisis event. I could see that working as an explanation.
  4. My issue with Gunn isn't his story ideas, for the most part, it's just his characterizations that tend to repeat. The show might prove me wrong, but the trailer just makes it seems like any another Suicide Squad movie (animated and live action). Also, is TSS canon to the new DCU? I thought he was rebooting it from scratch. I could be wrong.
  5. Do you understand what "different interpretation" even means? You say "it's a new interpretation" then, "it's the same character". Are you... Are you the turtle's new apprentice? (Seriously, this has been fun, but we're going in circles. Live and let live.)
  6. No. After years of clamoring for a Prequel Trilogy temple, it would feel like a slap in the face to get one solely based off the Acolyte. Now, if it were to include characters from across the eras, then I'd see no one taking issue with that.
  7. He's still the same, conflicted, dual-persona that he always was. The mirror image of a mirror image, is just the same mirrored image. It'd be different if, say, Bruce Banner was always angry, and when calm he turned into the Hulk, they're two different entities. Two-Face is literally two sides of the same coin at all times. Saying he's reversed doesn't really mean much. Especially if the scarred side is his dominant side. That's just Two-Face, but noble (he's always been a morally complex character, this is nothing new) FemPenguin is different than Flipped-Face off the strength that the character will now have a new history, maybe a different, bolder personality (she can go toe-to-toe with Bats, something Ozzy only dreams of), and the dynamic with the Caped Crusader will be different. So it's not fair to compare the two. At the end of the day, she could be the new Liv Octavius. Same idea but different enough that it works. And Penguin has been characterized differently throughout his interpretations (mafioso, gentleman crook, greedy gremlin), unlike Two-Face, who for the most part sticks to the whole "Duality of Good and Evil" schtick. Rather boring to say WWII films should be accurate to the period. Why not have F-22s in the Battle of Midway? Okay, facetious argument, I'll admit. What's wrong with the classics? No one's telling you not to like the new Penguin. We don't have to like it, either. I think that should be the civil way of thinking, no?
  8. You literally said that Two-Face was being reinterpreted. It's not that they're just another task force (which is what they were to begin with), it's specifically them being styled after SS and Gunn's GOTG (which is a farcry from the comics' Guardians pre-MCU). He's such a big fan of the Creature Commandos (of all characters...) that he completely rewrites their team history to be the new and improved Suicide Squad. They don't have to be WWII heroes, granted, but I'm tired of "foul-mouthed misfits become heroes after being in prison together". Literally the last three team projects he's done. SS can't be helped, it's that team's nature. Not entirely true of this group. Why not just make them a modern military unit, like S.H.A.D.E. did?
  9. It deserves nothing. A lot of great Star Wars content goes uncovered. In all seriousness, though, if we got Fort Coven before a Jedi Temple, Theed Palace, or an Arena, LEGO's got some 'splaining to do. In any case, we'll wait and see. LEGO might not have wanted to cover the show for one reason or another, volatile release schedules could've upset a potential tie-in launch, we don't know. I mean, five years later and we still don't have The Eternal Sheev. If you're gonna wait for Acolyte sets, better pack a rebreather.
  10. So his scarred side is his good side? Interesting take. It's a simple idea, but if done well, it could work out. Part of me wants to point out that's still just Two-Face, but I'll digress.
  11. Harley isn't the topic being discussed, and Two-Face isn't being reinterpreted either. I mean, aside from his scars being on the wrong side, which does bother me. It's much better to get a new or underused existing character than to reinvent an existing one. Full stop. People have different opinions. Nobody's forcing you to hate the new Penguin, some of us just don't. Why can't we leave it at that? Also, don't bring up the sexist/racist argument like that means something. Harley's Asian and no one's said anything. She's got a cool new look and different philosophy than usual. Penguin is just, well, Penguin, but female. It is lazy. That's a subjective opinion. That's an Ivy hideout if there ever was one. Could use some beige and brown bricks for wear, as well as a few vines, and a lot more plants. It's a beautiful model on it's own though. Definitely could be worked into a DC playset.
  12. Full stop. Comic book fans want comic book accuracy in their comic book show!? Say it ain't so... I don't get the "it's new, so like it" retort when people complain about accuracy. If we didn't care about the source material, we wouldn't be interested about the shows/movies in the first place. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And besides, it is lazy when there are so many ways around it. Make a new character to fill the same role, or use an established character. Both options still keep things fresh, while respecting the source material. Writers should get paid to be creative, that includes creating new characters from scratch. But in short, some like it, some don't. I don't get why everyone absolutely has to like everything. Besides, the biggest issue hasn't even been covered: why is she so big!? Penguin being diminutive is like his main thing. (I kid)
  13. For better or worse. I'd like to see a new, purely evil Freeze, for example. We haven't had that since The Batman, maybe TBATB. This sucks for me personally because I was looking forward to a somewhat post-crisis accurate, early years Batman. At this point sticking to the source material would be a fresh new idea. CC's still the best thing on the slate so far, though.
  14. "Commander O'Patra...The time has come..." Anyway...in all the excitement, we seem to have forgotten about our last hope, the Last Son of Brickton, The Man of ABS, who will save us all from the evil Mayor Cobb. The Starman...SUPERMAN!!! I'm actually excited for this more and more by the week. I don't need another Superman, or another Lex, to be honest, but if it opens the door for more Superman characters, I'm all for it. (New conspiracy drop: What if the Power Miners work for Lex Luthor, gathering various colors of Kryptonite?) Turtles and Flashes are natural enemies. And apparently so are them and Penguins.
  15. So...how 'bout that battle super pack? Seriously, perfect chance to get Rebel Friend, but Nien Nunb's torso will do nicely for that. I'd like to see the see the second head the Rebels are using, skin tone, male/female, happy/sad/mad, I need hi-res! And I never got a good look at QT-KT either. I'm curious to see if the 2014 stormtrooper helmets are going up or going down in price. Depending on how easy it is to convert my forces into the superior stormie, I may hunt a few of these down.
  16. I legit forgot about that. (Side note: if we ever get a TLBM2, I want Punch and Judy from The Batman '04) I agree, it is lazy. I don't think disliking the change is wrong, everyone's got their own opinions. On the other hand, one debatably good/bad decision won't break an entire series. If they wanted a female crime boss, that's a little heavy and can give Bats a solid run for his money: Carla Viti or, I don't know, Sofia Falcone!?
  17. Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) and Superwoman (Kala-El, I guess), are two different ideas. Though there is a gender-flipped earth in DC (11, I think?), so there is still precedent. That would actually be fun to see. Agreed.
  18. Well, you see, in the cloning process we prevented the development of the Y chromosome. You know, so that all of our attractions are female. It's a safety feature. West African Frogs? What are those?
  19. I mean, I can't think of any other examples. This isn't Mass Effect. We have gender-opposite counterparts, not sure if any characters have been swapped directly though. Aside from Jeri Hogarth, but wrong company (and she's awesome!)
  20. I'm not a fan of FemPenguin either, but it is a new continuity, new rules. I also hate that the wrong face is scarred on Two-Face, but it's like, idk, ExFed and Olivia Octavius from ITSV. I really wish DC would stop trying to reinvent the wheel and instead stick to the classics. That may sound lame to some, but if everything is a new take, there are no real adaptations. That said, still looking forward to trying out CC, not a fan of race/sex changes over new or lore accurate characters in those roles, but it won't ruin the show for me. Batman looks great, Catwoman looks great (), the atmosphere is top notch, what's not to like? Besides, maybe Ozzy's still out there, and the Penguin thing is genetic. As long as Bruce and Barbara don't Bruce Timm, we should be all set. As an aside, the Creature Commandos trailer screams GOTG and Suicide Squad to me. Not looking forward to it. If anything, it proves James Gunn is just another Snyder, a "my interpretations over comic accuracy". I can live without that. And dear Rau are they overusing The Wall... Let's take a WWII Team and make them the new Task Force X...give me a break. But at least Henry Cavill isn't returning as Brainiac...
  21. Now that is a comics plot if there ever was one.
  22. I actually like the Marvel and Ninjago examples, but it doesn't work for Palpatine or Crumb. I don't mind it on Ezra or Ahsoka, but yeah, Palpatine looks terrible with the white pupil.
  23. But, the white essentially are pupils. Yes, it's not biologically accurate, but it's LEGO. Why not swap the white circle for black? That would solve some of the issue. I, for one, actually like colored eyes, it provides more variety among heads, but Crumb is really strange. The eyes on the 2012 with the beak of the 2024 would be perfect.
  24. That doesn't even make sense. Wouldn't the pupiless eyes be an inconsistency? So, they made the faces simpler? Is that the conclusion that was drawn? I don't understand what this rule is supposed to mean.
  25. That is a really good point, actually. He just looks cartoonish, which is unfortunate.
