I would pay an ungodly amount of money for official minifigures of Space Kook, Captain Cutler, and The Phantom Shadows, as well as the Hex Girls and Crystal and Amber. Superior set ideas, my friend. The only ones I'd need.

Bruh, that was an amazing troll. Nobody sane would ever send Joker as an ambassador. (Serious question: Can you even be an ambassador as an immigrant? Since Joker's clearly American, wouldn't it be impossible for him to be an Iranian diplomat?) Good, good! Now take back your profile picture, and banish the turtle into eternal damnation! Batman himself is not all that impossible (I mean, as a detective with gadgets, or a detective/ninja hybrid with gadgets), but nearly all of his villains are highly unrealistic, or their gimmicks wouldn't work IRL the same as in the comics (Bane, Scarecrow, Ventriloquist). Only the gangsters, and maybe Riddler, Two-Face (with bandages, not split body), and Joker (laughing gas and chemical warfare) would be able to exist in the real world. Or any of the mercenaries not named Firefly. Someone doesn't know about the Bat-Snowsuit.

I get that, but I'm in the theme for comic-based sets and characters, LEGO turned the Marvel theme into MCU, and Spider-Man only (with even X-Men being show-based over the comics). I don't want a revitalized DC theme to be completely movie centric (it's bad enough every set now is basically 1989). LEGO didn't exactly help their situation by ignoring the movies and their characters entirely, either.

I actually agree with the theory that the half-baked DCEU dealt a terrible blow to Lego DC. Sucks that a comic book theme needs movies to sell, but this is where we're at I guess. It's why I stopped collecting Marvel. Perhaps a spell of my own making? As daylight shines through Blackest Night, And all that's Dead comes back to Life, Let the Will to Hope cast off dread, For there is no need to Fear the Dead, Champions of good shall safeguard Life, Bathed in the glow of White Lantern's Light. (you're welcome, DC)

Bruce Timm is a hack. Reason why Penguin is now female? He said that Batman didn't have enough female villains. *Ahem* Sofia Falcone, Carla Viti, Fish Mooney, Talia al Ghul, Lady Shiva, Catwoman, Magpie, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Riley the Ventriloquist, Minerva Queen of Diamonds, Black Widow (Adam West inventions but still), Jewelee, Tarantula, Nocturna, at least one Copperhead, and that's just off the top of my head. Half of Batman's entire Rogues Gallery are dudes in suits...Scarface & The Ventiloquist, Mad Hatter, Carmine Falcone, Two-Face, The Riddler, The Penguin, The Joker, some depictions of The Clock King (including BTAS), Black Mask, The Eraser, The Calculator, shall I go on? Meanwhile, the only suit Superman battles is Lex Luthor, and sometimes Bruno Mannheim. Outside of that, he's got a cyborg, a zombie, an energy vampire, a creepy doll, a literal banshee, an alien intelligence, and a literal god. I'd say Superman takes the gold if that's you're metric for interesting villains. Batman's villains serve a purpose, as do Superman's. They are dark reflections of the hero's personality traits. Bruce Timm did not understand Superman. To be fair, a lot of writers don't understand Superman. What makes Supes compelling isn't that he's a god among men, it's that he's someone who embodies everything humanity can and should be, using his insane powers for good when most men like him would use them for evil. It's why Lex hates him so much. His issues with Superman are projection, he sees Superman as a threat because that's who he'd be with Supe's power. I love Batman over Superman, but no Man of Steel slander will be tolerated.

Hmmm...perhaps another Clone has entered his mind. Our dear Commando can only watch, as two old enemies battle it out inside his captive mind. Only our resident Marshal Commander can save him now. In Commander Patra we trust. But, like, you're Superman! Don't just stand there, do something! Yeah, they'd be useless in this scenario. John Constantine or Zatanna though...

Uj/ I genuinely thought he'd gotten unbanned somehow. Dear God. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...I am not amused. Play your games, but the turtle's day is gone. And from the ashes of a burning asylum, a new Grandmaster must arise. Some may wish for a rebirth, but death is eternal. There are much darker days to come. The tumbler is only the beginning. That actually sounds like a great weakness to have. Pringles are delicious!

I've said it in the main asylum DC thread, but if LEGO decides to commit to a Batman centric-theme (like 2006 and select waves post-2012), I'd be happier with that than whatever this current direction is. So, I present my ideal LEGO Batman relaunch. Blister Packs ($12.99) GCPD: Build is a police car. Detective Flass (Year One), 2x GCPD Officers (one male, one female). League of Shadows: Shrine of some kind. Lady Shiva, 2x Ninja System Sets Flight of the Firefly ($9.99): Batman (Grey & Navy), Firefly (molded jetpack). Bat-Glider. Gotham City Cycle Chase ($19.99): Batman (Grey & Navy), Catwoman (Classic Purple), Holly Robinson. Cat-and-Bat-Cycles, street corner with traffic light. Comes with an assortment of jewels. The Batmobile ($29.99): Sport-car style vs Burton/BTAS. Batman (Grey and Black), Robin (Dick Grayson), Two-Face (Black & White suit). The Jokercopter ($39.99): The Joker, Harley Quinn, Bud & Lou animal figs, Batman (with Jetpack). Poison Ivy Plant Attack ($49.99): Greenhouse build, Batgirl-Cycle. Batman (Grey & Black), Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Poison Ivy (pale green), 2x Plant Henchman, plus the usual fly-trap builds. The Riddler's Puzzle Box ($59.99): Jack-in-the-Box-styled build, which opens up to reveal various traps, as well as a hidden observation room. Batman (Grey & Black), Robin (Dick), The Riddler, Riddler Henchman. Gotham Air Raid ($69.99): Batwing vs Bi-Plane. Batman (Pilot suit), Scarecrow, Killer Moth, Man-Bat. "In other news today, LEGO announces sets for the new Superman movie. A movie about DC's worst superhero, these sets will include unrealistic......excuse me. Unre-...erm. Sets about Super-...Superm-...fricken Superman!? Why does LEGO hate DC so much? We really to put a smile on their bright yellow faces!" Did you really think that there was more to the world of DC than The Batman? You believed in a world Beyond Gotham? No matter how many hopeful symbols you cling to, no matter how many Last Sons and Demi-Goddesses you believe in. There is only, has only, ever will be only, one hero. One city. One villain. Do you understand, AFOLs? You have no savior. No more hope. Only BATMAN. Be careful what you wish for. The Turtle fell due to his madness. In this asylum, there is no insanity. Only the cruel reality.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
ARC2149Nova replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Ozzel and Needa would like a word. But yeah, discounting violence against Stormtroopers as "not real violence" is kinda wierd. Stormies are still people. Besides, I find it hard to believe that most armies in Star Wars wouldn't have closed helmets, most of the Rebels more notable uniforms were typically ceremonial (like the RFTs), just repurposed for all-out warfare, hence why they're an exception. -
This thread is on crack---ed turtle shells. Even though it's way too early to tell, any speculations on non-movie, non-D2C DC sets for next summer? I'd love to see more BTAS (or DCAU in general). What if the Superman mech is based off of STAS (aka the weakest Superman ever)? I knew getting Two-Face was too good to be true. Double crossed by a LEGO figure.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
ARC2149Nova replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Some people love everything Star Wars (which is absurd to me, personally). Other people like select Star Wars. Both are equally valid and both can be considered "Real fans". Being a fan doesn't mean liking everything a franchise does. I should know, I follow American sports. That said, I've lost all interest in anything "New Star Wars", be that Andor, more Mando (despite liking both shows overall), Skeleton Crew (), etc. If we get cool LEGO parts/figures, I'm all for it. But I'm much more invested in doing my own stuff set in or around the Star Wars universe. Mando & Grogu just screams marketing tactic, Skeleton Crew really has no reason to exist besides being the Goonies in space, and there's just too much content for any of it to really feel special. I miss the days of 6 films, 2-3 cartoons and specials everybody hated We got some of the best LEGO sets in that time period too, and I will absolutely die on that hill. -
There's an instagram user (who's name escapes me unfortunately) who did beautiful renders of a modular Arkham wave. Lots of BatFam and Rogues spread throughout the wave. As much as I'd love for an expansion into non-Bat stuff, I will always be down to clown for an all-in Batman wave. We still need Mad Hatter, Scarface, Grundy, Black Mask, Anarky, etc. Not to mention new Robins not named Damian, and Batgirls not named Barbara.

CW stay taking Ls On the topic of Batman cowls, I don't really like the newest version, but I echo a previous comment about a new cowl being compatible with normal eyes. Only problem is that the forehead would be way too big if they did that. I can't imagine the eyes being any lower on the current cowls.

Literally all Titans needed to do was use skin paint and it'd be a non-issue (see Gamora). There are ebony cosplayers of Starfire that are absolutely gorgeous, with nowhere close to the budget of an official DC project. Just giving the actress a red wig was the laziest costuming decision I've ever seen. Just wait until they find out she's not even Jim's daughter (she's his niece). How is that relevant? It's not, I just thought it was a cool detail.

My opinion on the subject has always been to either elevate existing characters from the source material (Lucius Fox, Renee Montoya, which was done) or create new and original characters, (something that used to occur all the time, especially in cartoon adaptations). Why change pre-existing characters to check boxes when they could just as easily be someone completely new? The answer: it's easier to do so. People who hate the idea of creating new characters over changing old ones must not be very imaginative. There are people who do think that any diversity is forced, but I think there's a clear difference between, say, Cassandra Cain and Luke Fox (even Jace Fox) and race-swapped Gordons. I'm currently watching The Batman (2004) series and I absolutely love the characters of Ethan Bennet and Ellen Yin. To be honest, I like Gordon (Jim at least) in the new show, sure it's a swap, but the character himself is quite enjoyable. Also, you notice how these changes, that matter so little, never happen in reverse, or to the star of the show? Wonder why that is... At the end of the day, there are thousands of DC characters. Do a little digging, or flex those creative muscles. It's what you're getting paid to do. I can agree with this. I do think one should have some knowledge of the IP and what came before, so as to respect it and the fans, but like you said, decisions almost never come down to one man. What do we call those? Opinions. I mean, what is brunette anyway except a really dark red? Even if you don't think it's an issue, it has happened a lot recently. It is a trend, nothing wrong in noticing that. I agree that most things boil down to low effort or laziness. Nothing matters, money will be printed either way.

I will say, the 1940s setting kind of kills the believability of certain choices. Like, it's the 40s. Certain things just didn't happen, or weren't as open. I think making it closer in time, like the 70s or 80s would've helped that. Batman wasn't the main character, rather a deutertagonist, which is unfortunate. Also, axing certain characters while faking out others was not ideal either. I will also point out that they did pull deep from Batman lore, yet still found the need to "modernize" other characters. But aside from all that, it was an enjoyable watch. Not the best thing ever, not the worst. But that Batmobile is slick!
