This is an awesome ship and it has one of the best (if not the best) brick built ship bow! And judging from the comments, it seems that the release of the renewed Black Seas Barracuda 2020, has lead to an increase in interest and votes in this excellent design. I hope we see this released by TLG in 2021 as the new Imperial ship... an adversary to the Black Seas Barracuda 2020. If not, I'll just have to build it myself.

Very beautiful! Are they some changes to the Caribbean Clipper?

That's what I thought too. The Stonewars article has an Image Comparison Slider, comparing the original fan design with the design of LEGO. I can''t find a way of how to embed it into this post, so here is a direct link of the comparison: https://cdn.knightlab.com/libs/juxtapose/latest/embed/index.html?uid=11599af6-71c4-11ea-b9b8-0edaf8f81e27 It also has some more Image Comparison Sliders, comparing the original fan design with desaturated-saturated colors ( the saturated version looks more "lively"), and also the original BSB with the BSB 2020. By the way, I had the impression that the original Pirate Bay was dark brown, but article says it's reddish brown.

1. Modify the upper deck so that it can be easily removed and have easy access to inner deck (like in 10210 Imperial Flagship). 2. Remove the windows from the cannon ports. 3. Remove everything not combat related from the mid section of the inner deck . 4. Try to add 2 extra cannon ports, for a total of 10. I have an idea of how it might be possible, but I'll know for sure when @Elusys Ra Arwal shares his Stud.io file of the ship. 5. Buy 5-7 extra cannons.

That's for sure. Ships were, are, and will be the main selling driving force of the Pirates Theme. It's just that some of us wanted the Pirate Bay the way it was in Ideas, more or less (we knew they had to substitute the baseplate with something else or modify in some way the space it occupied), and we hoped that the sales of it, would spur to more pirates sets released and especially to a fine ship. And the way it turned out some of us feel tricked, betrayed, use-whatever-"negative"-verb-you-like-here, and that it doesn't matter what your approved Idea set is. In the end LEGO is going to do "it's thing", changing the set as mush as it likes. For reason of maximizing profit obviously (according to their financial calculations, for better or for worse). And we feel that since they went down this road, they could have made 2 different sets, one pirate ship and one pirate fort. By the way, if they had done something like that, the renewed Black Seas Barracuda would cost less, maybe around €150. But we got our very fine ship and this is awesome! Forts and bases are easier to design and built by ourselves, than ships. Now I'm going to finally have my first ever LEGO Pirates Theme ship! It will fit perfectly with the rest of my "Chinese" fleet. Yeah it does misses a lot! Not having the ability to buy the old LEGO pirate ships, forced me to buy the Chinese ones.

Future LEGO Pirates Set Speculation
Brickander Brickumnus replied to David Thomsen's topic in LEGO Pirates
Nope. A set with only low rank pirates and imperial mini-figures would be best. -
I am sure a lot of people will do that :) I'm definitely one of them. Mizzen mast? So remove the spanker sail from the main mast and add a 3rd mast in front of steering wheel and put the spanker there? Interesting... But for this approach to look great, another red stripe sail should be added to the mizzen mast. Now... if only LEGO would sell the sails independently...

Minifig set they'll probably offer. It's the cannons, flags and weapons where I have very little hope about. -
Future LEGO Pirates Set Speculation

A bag with Cannons, Cannonballs, Pirate Weapons, Flags (Big and Small, Pirates and Imperials) is a must. But I'm not very hopeful that LEGO will do this. Maybe we should start mass emailing, Facebook/Twitter/Instagram mass posting, asking for these stuff. -
I'm going to also work it on studio.io. That's why I said pool our resources. It will save us time and effort. Otherwise it will be as all of us who want to try and replicate the Pirate Bay, reinvent the wheel each one on his own. Maybe split the work into sectors, like one gets the upper portion, another the right, another the left, etc. Then combine the work in one file. I'm one of them who is going to buy it for the ship (even though I voted for a Pirates headquarters). The ship is amazing! Probably the best Pirates theme ship LEGO has released! I'm super excited for this! I was prepared to spend €300 for Pirate Bay. As it turns out, I'll be left with €100 more in my pocket! Sweet!

This doesn't negate the fact that is was still a base, a lair, a hideout, a headquarters... called it what you want... Hence the "Bay" in the title. Now it's a wreck. Regarding the colors, we knew the Ideas model was too dark and monotone, and that they were going to change this. It's a toy after all. Personally, I don't care about the color change. Anyway, I'm glad that I will get an excellent curvy LEGO pirate ship! I hope in 2021 i will get an equally excellent curvy LEGO Imperial ship.
