Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
sebastian666 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I like the way you think. Maybe this is where things got lost in translation with KingNoKnow’s source? I would kill for a Grimmauld Place set, which would explain the confusion around the OotP Christmas scene... Bring on the third wave! -

That’s why I asked for clarification. If this year’s wave is better compared to 2018 - does any one have the catalogue from that year? Was the D2C Hogwarts and the GWP Diagon Alley included in that catalogue? -

Does anyone have more info on this catalogue that revealed all the new LEGO Star Wars sets and the Advent Calendars? Have we seen any of the Harry Potter pages (other than the Advent Calendar)? Is this catalogue something that comes out annually and, if so, do we know which LEGO Harry Potter sets were featured in 2018 and 2019? I’m especially curious to know if the Beauxbatons Carriage and the Graveyard Battle were featured last year. Part of me is still holding out hope that we are going to get one or two surprise sets like last year... Ideally Grimmauld Place and the Ministry Atrium battle. -

Do it! I can’t wait to start seeing how folks connect all 3 (3.5 if you count RoR) sets. Haha thanks - I’m a little OCD. Everything in its place. Which is why the “official” LEGO setup of the three castle sets drives me crazy. -

Haha I have a whole shelf on my built-in bookcase dedicated to him with all the “Art of LotR” books from the movies too. Love me some Tolkien. And thanks man! I can’t have enough dementors. Every time I walk into this room I pick a dementor up and zoom him around the castle to terrorize the other minifigs for a minute or two -

My Hogwarts display is front facing. I’ve split up the Whomping Willow set a bit to give it a better flow. It’s easy enough to disconnect each set and spin them around to move minifigs around. When the Astronomy Tower arrives, I’m connecting it on the right side next to that section of up the Whomping Willow set and moving my Hagrid’s Hut to one of my built-in bookshelves where I have more LEGO sets mixed in. Room if Requirement will connect to that but face inwards. Hopefully I have enough room! -

I don’t care whether it’s in D2C or not - I actually think a separate Knockturn Alley set would be awesome -

As someone who loves all things haunted and spooky, I’m a fan of the darker side of the Wizarding World... Borgin & Burke’s could be such a creepy build on the interior. All the skeletons and ancient artifacts and the vanishing closet and floo fireplace would be a cool play feature. I’m also rooting for Shrieking Shack and Malfoy Manor sets. -

I agree. I think this is the most likely scenario now. This is what I predicted before King-No-Know ascended his throne. The GWP layout also fits perfectly with the current design of the City Expert sets. I imagine it will be similar in scale to the Assembly Square set: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/assembly-square-10255 Hopefully with the addition of a building closer to the Corner Garage in scale for Gringott’s: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/corner-garage-10264 I will be disappointed if we don’t get Borgin & Burke’s though, now that I’ve hyped myself up for it thanks to King-No-Knows “confirmation”... What do other folks think? -

This looks so much better without the white door frames! I’m still baffled by that design choice. Marcos Bessa spoke briefly about it on one of his Instagram posts. I imagine they had originally planned to have the door frames printed in tan but they probably ran out of budget and had to go with the only existing color the piece is made in - white. Anyway thanks for sharing! Do you have an Instagram account we can follow? -

Someone please ban this clown. He probably isn’t even 18. There are enough problems in the world right now. This forum is a safe space. Go back to your cave, troll. -

Where was it confirmed that D2C and 75978 are in fact the same set? I must have missed that... -

I just want to say thanks to the folks on here who are not shaming others for being upset about the delayed releases of these sets. For some AFOLs, building LEGO is an extremely effective tool for relieving feelings of overwhelming stress and anxiety. Many of us in the US, myself included, watched our hometowns burn this weekend in the aftermath of a disgusting racist attack. We organized, we protested, and we donated, but at the end of the day we need to be able to unplug for a bit to avoid burnout. On Friday, I ordered the Quidditch set - which I never previously planned on getting - and when it arrived last night (God Bless Amazon Prime) I turned on my Jim Dale narrated HP audiobook and started building. The Quidditch set is still not my favorite but the process of building it was better than any Ativan or Xanax I’ve ever taken. For those in Europe and Australia and beyond, I hope you all enjoy similar stress relief when your new sets arrive in a few days. Looking forward to hearing your reviews. -

This looks amazing! I love how you’ve upgraded Grawp. Looks way better than the flat exposed brick backs. The little backpack is a nice touch, too. Were all these pieces in the two sets you purchased? -

I am praying that something was simply lost in translation with Kingnono’s source and that the Yule Ball Advent Calendar means we will be getting Grimmauld Place as a surprise set. He made two very specific posts about Christmas at Grimmauld Place. The first stated that the Advent Calendar would be based on OotP (where the Christmas scene is at Grimmauld Place) and the second was the photo of the flying Santa on the Grimmauld Place tree. What other explanation could there possibly be? Do folks think Kingnono was actually full of crap this entire time and just bamboozled thousands of LEGO fans including a few other respected leakers? I feel like we are missing a piece of the puzzle here... -

Yes, I’m just talking about the torsos here. Although I think these hair pieces still work well for HBP Ron and Hermione. -

Slightly off topic here, but I recently started playing the LEGO Harry Potter video game to pass the time and, in Year 6, we get a glimpse of the Harry, Ron, and Hermione minifigs in what I predict will be their D2C Diagon Alley looks. I imagine we’ll also get them in their Year 2 looks (hopefully complete with black capes). I’m curious to hear how many versions of Harry, Ron, and Hermione folks think we’re going to get in the D2C Diagon Alley set? -

I would kill for a #12 Grimmauld Place set. The best MOC that I’ve seen of it so far was for a contest entry in last year’s LEGO Ideas Harry Potter Holiday Scene contest: https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/fa395293-eda9-4603-83cc-aac44c1052cb/application/2a7993f5-2abb-4c27-ad7e-2b60345883b3 -

Hagrid on Sirius’ bike is definitely not out of the question. The topic came up in yesterday’s Q&A with Marcos Bessa, the lead designer for the new LEGO Harry Potter series, and he said he is hoping they can nail the design for a bike that works with the Hagrid minifig soon. Right now, Marcos said Hagrid’s arms open a bit too wide when he raises them up for the standard motorcycle design. So it sounds like they’ve already started playing around with new designs and how to work out the flaws. I can totally see us getting a set with Hagrid and Harry in the side car being pursued by a death eater and Voldemort minifigs with the smoky black Dementor leg pieces next year. Probably no Hedwig in that set though ? -

His “clues” drive me insane. I think there’s a bit of a language barrier there, too, which makes matters worse. I probably shouldn’t overthink what he says, but I’m so eager for these last few reveals - especially Diagon Alley. And there’s not much else to do in quarantine haha. -

The other idea I have been toying with is Kingnono’s use of “DA”. Maybe 75978 isn’t the “DA” everyone thought it was but a different one - Dumbledore’s Army. Could be a hint that 75978 features Dumbledore’s Army in the Ministry of Magic attack? -

I agree ? - I’d much rather have a dragon escape add on. I’m just trying to figure out how this leg prints clue figures in to the equation. -

Is anyone else still baffled by Kingnono’s latest clue...? “Don’t expect too many leg prints. If you see pictures and the name of the D2C set you get my hint: 75978 and Diagon Alley are not the same set.” The more I re-read this, the more I think 75978 could be a Gringott’s Vault add-on to the Diagon Alley set. Maybe a mini coaster. The minifigs could be two Goblins, Year 1 Harry, and Hagrid. All four of these figures would also probably have the same short black legs - no prints. Whatever it means, it sounds to me like he is hinting at some connection between the Diagon Alley set and 75978. I’m curious to hear what other folks think... -

Weird... I see the image in your link but I don’t see it when I navigate to Amazon myself... Maybe Amazon’s graphics team put it together - not LEGO’s? Either way, I really don’t like this layout. It makes it seem like the connecting points were an afterthought. I’m sticking with this layout:
