  1. So far I've only been thinking about it. But I don't have the set yet and I'm not looking forward to buying anything in this BLO color... Perhaps I'll first look into recoloring it to Red (seems least worst in terms of parts availability, and I already have a huge inventory in Red). But that would mean finding acceptable alternatives for the inner wheel arches...
  2. Just download jb70's two .mpd files, both original and pimped. Open both in LDCad or Stud.io. Go into gearbox submodule for both files and export their parts. Load parts in two Rebrickable custom lists. Use Rebrickable's inventory comparison feature. Voilà!
  3. @shroomzofdoom that's neat! Thanks for sharing
  4. Ah yes, for the Pagani Huayra BC, I went through several iterations to incorporate the new thick shock absorbers into the ride height adjustment mechanism. The challenge was not just the bracing needed, but also the size of those shocks, highly constraining the possible positions. The mechanism employed 2 worm gears and 2 8t gears -- 1 each side. I was concerned the 8t gears would get bent teeth, but after disassembly, I couldn't find anything wrong with them. However, some of the axles used in the mechanism got wonky. Then there's also the buildability aspect: quite some time was spent figuring out how to organize the instructions to guide the builder to properly align the ride height adjustment, as any mistake would lead to a model permanently leaning to one side.
  5. Don't ask: - a woman her age - a man his salary - an AFOL how much time & money he spends on lego...
  6. @jb70 Would a titled steering wheel fit? IIRC it wasn't hard to implement in the previous supercar: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-160985/astyanax/extra-pimped-ferrari-daytona-sp3
  7. @jb70 Amazing work, once again! Curious to see your alternative designs for the wheel arches, especially parts 4443 and 4446...
  8. Awesome progress! I'm checking out your files with LDCad. Impressive work on positioning all those angled assemblies...
  9. @nerdsforprez Sure, I was just saying I've been surprised before by opposing implementations of shifting. So since then, I'd be checking actual car reviews instead of relying on my own common sense.
  10. You'd have to check some source materials. Regular cars and sports cars can have opposite shifting motions. For example, when I was rebuilding the Pagani Huayra BC, I noticed that in videos of the real car, the central shifter would need to be pulled to shift up. In contrast, in regular cars with central shifter, pushing means shifting up.
  11. Looks like part 71689 will come in Dark Blue.
  12. How's the clutch of connectors on this 16L axle? I've always found that bushes and axle joiners just slide off the end of a 16L axle, as if the 16L axle is thinner than axles of different lengths.
  13. The 4 predecessors all needed "major work" as well, in the eyes of this community. See for example the Pimp Up My XYZ projects, all bringing substantial improvements.
  14. I think they've been copying themselves for a long time already. Especially the Lamborghini Centenario and Ferrari 488 Pista have been done by multiple manufacturers.
  15. Same thoughts here. And given the recent appearance of Technic parts in purple, I still consider that a likely color.
  16. Oh dear lord yes please! I'm quite sure I was already arguing in favor of exactly this part on the first page or so. Edit: yup
  17. I think this is an understandable mindset for those in the camp of "build once, display, never disassemble". To me personally, that goes against the Lego spirit as I grew up with: rebuild, rebuild, rebuild. From this perspective, I'd like all bricks to be undamaged so that they're good to go for building something else. But other people may have different experience and preference. When builds get large (say >3000 pieces) and specifically try to replicate some IP, the builder or producer may be more inclined to think it's gonna be too much work to disassemble anyway, and thus be less adverse to so-called illegal techniques. As an example, I'm personally bothered by the shown build step in CaDA's Apollo IE. But then I think, who's gonna take it apart anyway to feel the loss of these 3L pins?
  18. 10318 Concorde came with "toilet roll" panels in the same Medium Nougat... coincidence?!
  19. Look at the top of the harbour crane... They really tried hard to avoid re-releasing the Red toggle joint!
