  1. I was just joking, you are absolutely correct Lipko!
  2. That is correct and in the end, the same creation will probably win then too. Of course on the other hand, with a system like F1, for creators (and others perhaps) it is perhaps nice to see that 'my creation didn't win, but got a reasonable amount of points, it is not a winner but still good' , if you get what I mean. That would be nice with the f1 system. And to conclude, one could also argue that in the WIP topics you can tell a designer that or what you like about a creation (instead of giving 10 people 1 point, to show you liked it. Oh well, there will allways be discussion like this, which is fun. And after all, it is al about these creations and the contests really bring great results. In the end, it is having fun to create all these things ( and admire them) what it is all about. Not? (Noooo, stupid old Lego builder, it is all about winning, shut up you fool). :-)
  3. Maybe we should just try the F1-voting. Afterwards you / we can judge if that is any better. And as you mentioned, at the end of the day the best model will probably win. Probably.
  4. To continue my previous point, I would go as far as to only give points to your top 3 (gold silver, bronze), with some distinction, like 10, 6 and 3 points. Life is making choices
  5. During my education to become a teacher we learned that: lesser options to choose from when voting, gives a much clearer result. For example, when using a 10-point scale, people tend to not us extremes, thus not giving 1, 2 of 9 or then. When using a 3 point scale, they have to have an opinion (good, mediocre, bad) for example. I think that also counts here: when using the old F1 system you have to choose some of the best creations. While the current system gives room to vote 10 points for creation A, while giving 1 point to 10 others. In the end, what do those 1 points signify? In the end, youre favorite, 'the one you would buy', gets most points. Of course, that is when voting to determine a winner, not when voting to also show appreciation for effoort and other criteria, I think.
  6. I guess that's because the pumps also work different, is that what you are trying to explain to me?
  7. I understand that. But everything is connected correctly. With the pld manual pump, the same set-up works, when connected to the outlet on the unimog, not......
  8. Hi all. For a while I have been thinking about building an Unimog-like vehicle, but with my old Techinic parts. Something like 8110, same scale, but probably a bit simpler, considering what I have to work with :-) Nothing build yet, but tonight I was testing my old pneumatic parts. ( my technic collections pretty much is pre-1986.) the pneumatics are of the first series. They happen to work just fine. However, I attached them to my 8110 Unimog and then it didn't...... The cylinders extend, but do not return. I don't get why that happens. I'm sure somebody here does?
  9. Domboys solution seems quit smart too. Lots of soltions, i see! And something else, suppose I change the 12 motor to PF, is it as strong as the 12v motor?
  10. Haha, good idea. I dont like cutting my lego! ;-) thanks for all the responses!
  11. Hi all! I have been searching this forum, but could no find the answer or topic. Question is this: I'm thinking about giving my son a train set, later this yeAr. If he wants one... So i have a lot of old stuff from the grey 12v er? The 7740, mail wagon en sleeping car, the crossing and other things. Is it possible to connect the old rails with the new ones? It doesn't have to run on 12v, just wondering if the rails can connect in one big track.

  13. Lost in Noise, I obviously still have to build it, what I meant was, the gear on the axle for the string, I guess that one has nothing to do with the actuators?
  14. I have my 42009 still in the box. I wonder now, what is the effect of changing the cluth gear with a normal gear? I read pro's en cons here. I like it if it can lift something a bit more heavy, but does it also mean that I could potentially damage something?
  15. Alasdair, that seems do-able, I think that I can recreate something like that, although as mentioned I would have to replace some parts.... Great thinking, all!
  16. I think so too, that this is pretty much as small as you can go. As i said, nice!
