Q&A: Spring and Fall waves for City
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Town
That is true. 2009 to 2011 were awesome too though. Tbh, they'd have plenty of time to think. That is....if they were to do it this way. Winter Wave - December 1 Spring Wave - March 1 Summer Wave - June 1 Fall Wave - September 1 -
Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Construction and Demolition should've been collaborated in my opinion. Demolition Experts was a waste of bricks. Harbor from 2007 was my favorite. The one from 2011 felt kinda rushed.- 438 replies

Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
OMG! I remember those as it were yesterday. Yes, the construction theme is one that I really want to see a reboot of. The four themes I want to see rebooted: Garage, Farm, Construction and Harbor. I'd like to see one year where City focuses solely on its industrial side.- 438 replies

Ok.....so I got a question from a personal friend of mine. Should they add spring and fall waves to the City theme? By that, I'm going to assume he meant as in adding them to the already made system of winter and summer. I kinda have mixed feelings about this. Please don't correct me. This is a personal feeling. I'm not stating facts. To me, it sounds bad because I do believe that while they already know what works and what doesn't, the City division of Lego does have to plan this stuff out and they need time to think and do tests. So adding spring and fall waves to summer and winter waves would put too much pressure on the staff. But I do think it's good in a way as that'll give other City subjects a chance. Perhaps a line of work that City has not done subtheme for before. Though I do think that pretty much every line of work has been shown in City - even real estate at one point if you could believe it. They just haven't gotten subthemes. Thats all. Anyway. Lemme know what you think. Sound off through the forum.

I definitely agree there. Classic Town had waaaaayyyyyy more jobs than today's City does. If there are any other jobs in today's City other than a rescuer, explorer, or criminal - I won't believe those jobs exists until I see subthemes. I mean subthemes that are still on the shelves today and in the future. Not from the past.

When I say conflict, I mean between two people. Like cops and robbers or any type of violence. Not the type of conflict of what you'd do in a bad situation. Ok.....we're talking about realistic conflict in a civil situation and how it draws kids to town and city sets. Any thing about those superheroes you just mentioned aren't even relevant in this case. Conflict does not have to happen in anything. Storytelling, yes. But not play. A child can play with a bus and there doesn't have to be a single piece of conflict. Now there are children who can use their imagination in different ways. But there is always room for improvement and we see fit to bring it to the table.

I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately, TLG doesn't. Its not really playability that was the secret ingredient as 20th Century City sets were pretty playable for it's time. That was when children knew how to play pretend without conflict. Today, it's the exact opposite. That's kinda why TLG does what they do. Though I would like to see a year where City sticks to only vital civilian infrastructure such as post offices, hospitals, grocery stores, restaurants, bus terminals, taxi stations, garages, etc. Then again, I guess police stations would be considered vital civilian infrastructure. But I wanna see just one year without anything rescue or explorers oriented.

Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?

Too right. But it goes so well. My bad though. Yeah.....but the first one was just a great vehicle. A good one though. The second one could've done well by itself with the car dealer. But I kinda want the orange trucks with the guys in the blue suits to return. It was such a great color combination. It does. Except its colored differently.- 438 replies

Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?

They need to bring the garage theme back for City. I mean.... yeah, they have the service station, tuning shop and race cars coming in 2020, but I liked the garage theme from 2009 because it was solely directed at the auto repair system in Lego City. Being ASE certified, I'm offended that these sets only stayed on the shelves for a year and a half. If it weren't for mechanics like us, your cop cars wouldn't be able to catch crooks.- 438 replies

I would definately buy if its a straight instead of a corner. If it is green and yellow, I would use it with my bus from set 60154. I don't think a train station is less likely either. If it were a small version of Union Station in Washington, D.C., it would work. -

So at the end of November 2019, we should get more details on the Winter 2020 sets. Police is guaranteed for next year as its on a three year rotation. Some of the great vehicles have been revealed. I'm assuming the race cars, service station and tuning shop are part of an automotive subtheme. -

So....... I assume that means that the modular police station is out of the question. -
@MAB As for your comment I agree! Here are two examples. For 60200, that set is basically 5 sets in one. Two Story Bus (includes two story bus and hotdog stand) Hotel (includes hotel with sports car) Electric Smart Car (includes Smart car with charging station) Police Skatepark Patrol (with police motorcycle, skating ramp and ice cream cart) Museum Construction (includes museum in construction with mobile crane) Guitar Player Polybag 60097 is also 6 sets in one. Tram (includes tram with small platform Coffee Stand (includes coffee stand with bikes) Car Dealership (includes car dealership, 3 cars and flatbed tow truck) Lego Store (includes Lego store and Lego truck) Pizza To Go Polybag (includes pizza deliverer on scooter) Hotdog Stand Polybag (inlcudes hotdog stand with server)

LOL! It targets kids who love police sets. The only reason they really sell is because of the vehicles. That being said, I feel sorry for little boys who love fire trucks over police cars. After buying all of the fire trucks from this wave, they have to wait 3 more years before expanding their collection. ??? As for modulars, I prefer simple builds. So I don't get modulars and I think Creator holds the contract for houses. But considering that some of the houses in LCA were Creator houses, I'm hoping for some re releases under City since we can now say that they are cannon. Most of my collection is made up of vehicles. I need as many as I can get.
-
Houses are done. Now I'm adding some emergency services such as a hospital, coast guard hq, fire department and police station.
-
Of course he doesn't see the point. It was Pooda that recommended it after all. ??? I'm too lazy to do mocs though. That's why I beg City to do them for me. Why do you accept the current state of City though? I'm just curious.
-
I think you'll be happy to know that in 2020, City is doing a gas station and some race cars - which would HAVE to be Octan. I hope the tuning shop is Octan too.
