These are mostly in line with what we know - except the Clocktower. We’ve already seen leaked torsos that confirm the large castle set is going to feature a Yule Ball scene. So far we’ve got Fleur, Krum and Harry for sure, most likely Ron and Hermione as well, and Madam Maxime is also rumored to appear. Can’t remember who the last 2 are supposed to be Dumbledore and Cedric maybe? no sign of Pomfrey sadly (and sorry if you were hoping for Draco but unless they found a place for him in the August sets we’re not getting him this wave)

The niffler also appeared in the Suitcase set. I kind of figured any new molds that appeared in the cmf and the sets used the sets mold budget, i.e. the new rat, golden snitch, Harry’s hair etc. Technically, there were 3 animals in the cmf that were new in 2018, but Nagini was the only one not to appear before the cmf. There are plenty of variations between cat breeds, but unlike dogs, they’re not as noticeable at tiny Lego scale. The only different variation the could do is a longhair cat, but it’s easier the pass of the standard cat as Crookshanks than it is to justify using the old standard shepherd type dog mold to fill in for any of the toy dogs that have been added to the Lego kennel in recent years. Which is probably why we have more dog variations than cats. (Fingers crossed on the new dog being Fang. Not that I wouldn’t be happy with a new padfoot, but tiny face wrinkles!)

I think the reason they didn’t make a new mold for crooks Hanks is because they need to be able to find other uses for the mold, and I don’t they’d ever use it since there’s already have a prominent cat mold. I think however a shaggy dog would work since dogs are more popular and they could easily re-color the mold for Sirius Fang is actually a type of mastiff, and isn’t shaggy at all. A Fang mold couldn’t be recolored as Padfoot, there’s no resemblance. Edit: as for the ‘no new mold for Crookshanks’ thing, I’ve been thinking - when was the last time we got more than 1 new animal mold in a licensed CMF? Is it possible that the designers had to choose between a new fluffy cat and a new, bigger snake, and ultimately decided that Nagini needed the new mold more than Crookshanks?

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not really? I wasn’t paying any attention the TLM2 series, but for the Harry Potter one all we got were some bogus lists and the notorious Voldemort leak that loads of people were convinced was fake but turned out to be real. We can make some educated guesses but we won’t know for sure until the end of the month.- 961 replies

Seconded. I’d like to be able to discuss future leaks and releases as they come out, not sit around twiddling my thumbs not able to talk about it because a couple of people decided to get into an inappropriate flame war over a tiny detail. (Can’t this at least wait until the sets come out and you can all see the pieces in person?)

I mean, that is what happened last year...

If everyone keeps snapping up the next waves they did the first, Lego will have more than enough incentive to continue the theme for years (and fill in all the gaps they missed during the first run - let’s make the Yule Ball scene a best seller) I’m really hoping that we do get a Weasley wedding as part of a Burrow set - it would be a great way to set a Burrow remake apart from the 2010 set.
-
They really did nail Ron’s dress robes! same on the cloth cape for Victor tbh, but I’m secretly glad we’re not getting the Patil twins yet, if we get them in another set in thier uniforms it could increase the chances that Lego will sneak Padma into a ravenclaw uniform (fingers crossed)

Agree 100%. I don’t have nearly as many problems with CoG as some people do. It’s biggest issue for me was pacing, and that’s hardly unexpected from an author who went from books that took place over the course of a school year to movies that cover a couple of days. And I concur that the biggest lore issue will likely be resolved (raise your hand if you actually believe facts that you only hear from a super villain ) And you’re also right in the fact that the critical reception from a portion of the adult fan base isn’t going to effect any plans for this year’s sets. You know what it’s also not going to effect? The way the target audience aka kids are going to feel about the movie and sets. Kids and teens aren’t going to be hung up over how McGonagall’s age was changed. They’re going to look at all the fun scenes and want a lego Zouwu. Heck, I’m in my twenties and I want a lego Zouwu. As for the possibility of sets this year, we still have absolutely zero facts about August sets. I’m still extremely skeptical about them being Harry Potter and not Fantastic Beasts despite them coming out 2 months after the actual Harry Potter wave. Yes I know they’re under the Harry Potter name on some leaked list, but it’s possible that there was enough confusion with some people that they made the decision to lump both Wizarding World themes under the more recognizable Harry Potter name for whatever organizational/marketing purpose that list serves. (Out of interest where does that list come from?)

Hmm, I forgot how much fun those big fluffy coats and hats were, it’s just the shirts and pants underneath that are bland. And I hope you’re only talking about GoF outfits here, because I’d love to get Fleur’s wedding dress
-
Hard to say with Krum, since the Drumstrang uniforms are kinda bleh, maybe his Bulgarian Quidditch robes? (I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a Quidditch player in every series). The Beuxbatons uniforms are pretty unique though, and that hat practically screams ‘cmf’, so Fleur in uniform is definitely on my wishlist for a prospective series 2. As for the people whining about the reused face prints - Lego has a budget. And when they are distributing that budget among the sets they’re priorities are going to be for 1) new molds they need - like buckbeak and the stag patronus. 2) pieces they need in new colors - like Harry’s new hair (and presumably Sirius’ as well). 3) new large prints that aren’t close to anything that’s been done before - like a special head for the horntail, Yule Ball outfits, or the personalized uniforms for the first task. 4) face prints that will be important for reuse in future sets - like teen versions of the 3 main characters, and a new head for Sirius Black. Compared to all those, the faces of the 3 triwizard champions, only 1 of whom has a chance of ever showing up in a non-GoF set, are probably low priority for the budget - of course they’re going to reuse face prints if they can. (And for the love of bricks, try to understand how hard it is to make super short hairstyles when you’re limited by how thin the plastic can be. ‘Social Justice Warriors’ my megablocks, don’t act like you think Krum’s hair is racist when it’s really just you throwing a hissy fit about not getting exactly what you want.)

Where on Instagram? Not seeing them in any of the usual hashtags

On the hair topic - when you look at both Ron and Harry from the last wave of sets you’ll realize that thier hairstyles don’t quite match up to thier SS/CoS looks. Harry’s is just a little shorter and messier and Ron’s is just a little longer. When I first saw Harry’s new hairpiece last year it seemed pretty obvious to me that they were trying to design it to fit as many movies as possible. Really the only films it doesn’t work for are GoF (very long hair) and OotP (very short hair). It doesn’t seem unlikely that they’ll try something similar for Ron (except his odd movies out are PoA and GoF)

As I’ve mentioned here before, from what I remember seeing when it first came out, the original artist never intended for the edit to be a fake leak, they just made it for fun to show what Hagrid’s Hut could look like, and they said as much when they posted it. As far as how accurate thier predictions were - there were several sets that had multiple versions made over the length of the first series. Almost all of those were remade in the first wave of the reboot, except Hagrid’s Hut and the Knight Bus. It’s not too hard to guess that it would come in the second wave we were all hoping for. The also didn’t get the minifigure line up quite right - dumbledore is in the edit but Ron and fudge aren’t. It’s a nicely done edit. Well thought out predictions, but not prophetic (divination is such a woolly subject anyway)

Remember, the last $15 set was Aragog, which only includes Harry and Ron. Harry, Wormtail and Babymort might very well be all we get if that is indeed the graveyard set (still not convinced) Sounds right, but let’s not forget, there weren’t any leaks for the Hogwarts Express figures until after Lego released the official set photos. Lego can really keep a lid on things if they want to, so don’t count on getting anything else before they say so
-
Tbh I try not to think about how Wormtail had unfettered access to a preteen boys’ dormitory for seven years. Too many implications on the topic of sets though, how different would the 2 versions of Wormtail even be in the speculated Shrieking Shack/Graveyard? Same face, same hair, costumes similar enough. What? One has a silver hand and the other doesn’t? Not too big a deal budget wise (but possibly enough to get the adult collectors interested). Definitely nothing like investing in both Yule Ball and first task outfits for all the triwizard champions. What? You mean like how Harry or Ron is exclusive? The Shrieking Shack will have Lupin and possibly his Werewolf form, the Graveyard will include either the first death eaters or babymort. Essentially, enough exclusives to make them desirable without Wormtail - who isn’t a fan favorite and really doesn’t have any other sets to appear in unless Lego makes malfoy manor and goes way overboard with the minifigure line up. All that said, we have no confirmation on what EITHER of the August sets are. Let’s not forget how long people were convinced the second retailer exclusive from last year was going to be the Knight Bus.
-
Technically, the rumor only states a graveyard set, most of us have just been adding the ‘duel’ part because it’s automatic to think of it as a remake of the Graveyard Duel set from the old wave. But technically, it doesn’t have to illustrate the fight part. If it does exist, it could be the Riddle gravestone and cauldron as the build, with Harry , Wormtail and baby Voldemort as the figures, with Nagini possibly thrown in. Definitely within the $15 range.
-
I’m still confused as to why there’s a second wave in August though. (Not the September one, that’s the alleged advent calendar) I mean, last year we got 5 in July and 2 in August, but the separate 2 were Fantastic Beasts sets. I know some people have claimed we’re not getting any this year, but those 2 set are still super under wraps and why else split up what could’ve been a 7 set wave? (And you can’t just say they’re marked as Harry Potter on a leaked list, the FB sets are sorted with the Harry Potter theme on the Lego website, clearly it’s treated as interchangeable for them)
-
Just woke up to the leaks! Absolutely love the new stag and Buckbeak molds! Can’t wait to see Buckbeak with his wings. Gotta say, even with all the set description leaks we’ve been getting from multiple sources, I couldn’t quite believe that we’d get a stag patronus mold. So glad we’re really getting one though, that thing is gorgeous. Now that Lego has made one patronus, I really hope we’ll get a DA set with some others. The horse, terrier and rabbit/hare molds already exist for Ginny, Ron and Luna. All theyd need is an otter for Hermione. (And who doesn’t love otters? Definitely a reusable mold)
-
Hey, Hermione was having a lovely night before Ron decided to be a jerk. She was definitely smiling during that iconic staircase introduction scene. (Ron, on the other hand, might need a special face since the normal smiling/frightened face won’t fit the pout he wears the entire night)
-
Maybe they’re going for a book accurate look? According to the books, Krum doesn’t grow his ‘stupid little beard’ until Deathly Hallows.
-
Well if nothing else Harry, Ron and Hermione DO need new face prints that are for their teen versions. The face prints from last year are all child proportioned, so they need an upgrade if we’re getting those 3 with the new medium legs. And unlike the triwizard champions, older faces for the Trio will be needed in basically all the future sets (the only champion who has a chance of turning up again is Fleur, and only if they make wedding or shell cottage sets)
-
To answer your question, there’s really no dark castle in Harry Potter to begin with. Voldemort holes up in some old manor houses in Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows part 1, but the former wasn’t on screen long enough and the latter was never made because Lego didn’t make any sets based off that movie last time around. The Chamber of Secrets and Graveyard Duel sets are probably the only good examples of the villains being on thier ‘home turf’ if you will.
-
I think it bears remembering that the version of the Great Hall we got was already paired down from earlier concepts. Original ideas had a chamber of secrets as an underground level, and the version preveiwed at the toy fair last year had spaces to store the extra mirror panels and such in the floor of the hall and a slightly different number of window columns. I’m guessing with Lego not knowing how the theme reboot would go, they decided to keep the price point for the largest regular set under $100 usd to keep things safe.

A PoA set based off the boggart lesson seems unlikely since boggart Snape came in the bricktober pack As far as the modular room sets of the SS/CoS era - I can see why Lego stopped doing them. They focus pretty solely on the interiors, and the 2010-11 waves and the current reboot are clearly trying to give us castles that look amazing from the outside as well. The modular system has its merits but it doesn’t adapt well to the exteriors Lego is currently trying to give us.
