LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Accio Lego replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If said series included some of the Young Justice characters that were just introduced in the game I can’t say I’d be completely opposed. -
Exactly. Harry Potter doesn’t need a new Fantastic Beasts movie to sell, and with statistics on this year’s sales starting to come in Lego will likely have proof of that very soon too. We’re getting an advent calendar this year for goodness sakes, Lego can make a series 2 cmf whenever they want and it will be a hit.

Series 19 comes out in September. The character sheet has leaked on Instagram already. -
Really? I knew they were official pictures but they aren’t on the US site or social media so I figured it was one of those cases of another retailer releasing them before the official Lego announcement.

Does anyone know how redeem points for in store credit works now? The description on the rewards site says you still present your card in store. So do you redeem points and then they show up when they scan your card at the register? Or do you get coupon codes like with the online credit? Anyone tried using their points this way yet?

So the 16 clearly has the normal “limited edition” “to collect” written around it. The 17 and 18 clearly have different text around them, but between the low quality picture and the writing being much smaller I can’t tell what they say. Surely if there were 2 extra chase figures there’d just be a little 18 icon not the 17 (or even the 16) as well?

Awesome! so observations: - that black sci-fi character has a holographic wanted poster = bounty hunter! - love the robot programmer girl (you get away with not doing gamer girl for now Lego) - the overdue firefighter, and it looks likes she’s the woman in charge, with a new variant of the megaphone - I’m going to need that adventurer with the chameleon - the dog kennel/park worker comes with TWO dogs! Score! - BMX biker girl! (Didn’t Robert8 say something about a biker in series P? Lol) - aww... shower time guy’s towel has little duckies on it - gardening lady’s flamingo can definitely pass as a live creature for people’s MOCs - I really want to see Monkey King and Fox Suit Girl’s tails - Surprisingly no teen OR child legs, or even the new skirt pieces. Interesting.

Proper clear pictures of all the advent calendars and their contents have leaked on Instagram. For anyone who wants to be spoiled.

There’s already a Friends style chameleon and a Tangled Pascal - the leaked Chameleon is definitely system style. And as it was just stated above, we months away from getting any leaks about next year’s people packs, so that’s almost certainly series 19 as well. The Ideas set is a possibility, but it hasn’t been approved yet and I don’t think even the Steamboat Willie set didn’t leak this far ahead of the approval announcement.

So we know most of the series’ line up but we still don’t have figures for the Dachshund, Chameleon and eyepatch head. Plus two more that we don’t have any hints for at all. It also looks like this series is going to be really good for animal molds. That’s one of my favorite parts of CMFs so I’m excited. The one thing I don’t like is that the new Gamer is another guy. Seems tone deaf on Lego’s part and the feminist in me is rankled.

Well for starters, the other ‘half’ of the castle is more than exactly half, so to do the rest would probably rival the UCS Millennium Falcon in piece count, and that seems unlikely. Also, the section of Hogwarts that they’ve done - with the main round tower, Great Hall and aqueduct bridge and courtyard - is THE definitive view of Hogwarts. It’s the silhouette that we first saw with Harry from the boats in Sorcerers Stone and the one that’s on all the posters and featured in the theme parks. The rest of the castle is in the background in comparison, so there’s a bit of skepticism as to whether it would have the same marketability.

The Carriageand Graveyard sets have been put up on the US website - release date confirmed August 1st.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Accio Lego replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Back when every other wave had a ‘Hogwarts Castle’ set in it that wasn’t really meant to depict any one scene that might have been a valid point (they had a habit of sticking major characters in there that wouldn’t fit anywhere else), but the theme’s reboot has been giving us very specific scenes from the movies, and if an important character (like Flitwick, Trelawney, or polyjuiced!Moody) doesn’t appear or play a role in a major action scene then they might fit in a CMF better. There’s also a whole bunch of outfit variations that collectors want - most notably the house robes introduced for Gryffindor in series 1 being done for the other 3 houses (although I’ve personally got my fingers crossed for Luna’s lion hat as well). Just look at how extensive Funko’s Harry Potter line is and you’ll get an idea of how many options there are. -

If you’re counting Batman you could theoretically throw the Lego Movies and Ninjago in as well - but yeah I think you’re right, all the licensed themes had proven themselves already (or were tie ins to Lego’s own licenses). They’re unlikely to stick their necks out like that for licenses that won’t appeal to teens and AFOLs as well. -

The fact that FB3 is delayed doesn’t stop them from including some Crimes of Grindelwald figures in a series. Plus there are dozens of characters and unique variations of Harry Potter characters that people have already been speculating about in the Harry Potter 2020 forum. -
Yeah, but we knew that there was another retailer exclusive besides the (accurately) rumored Quidditch set - the only reason the Hogwarts Express was a surprise is because people didn’t know what it would be (there was a false rumor about the Knight Bus) not that we didn’t know there was a set at all.
-
That pretty much how it works, yes. And yes it is ridiculously inconvenient. On the bright side, they’ve finally set it up so you can redeem points for in store on phone purchases and not just online orders. (So now you can be inconvenienced in your method of choice).
-
I think it depends on how much money the theme is making, and whether those promos helped sales at all. Did Barnes and Noble experience better Lego sales on the days of the golden snitch and bricktober events? We’re people rushing to the Lego store for Diagon Alley or the wand build? If so (very likely) we’ll see more of this kind of thing - although with no rumors yet this year about bricktober I’m skeptical on whether we’ll see anything like that again (for any theme).
-
I’d heard that the convoluted new coupon code method of redeeming points for store credit was to prevent kids from using their family’s/parents’ points without permission, but I’m not sure how effective it will be and ultimately all it’s really going to do is discourage impulse buying.

That actually makes it easier to design a new mold, since it’s the same general principle as existing beard and gas mask pieces. Whereas prints might not give the right transparent bubble look.
