  1. Actually you’re forgetting the Hog’s Head, which is pretty important in both the 5th and final movies. And given that Lego’s ‘no alcohol’ rule only applies to modern realistic settings, getting a couple of fantasy pubs in a Hogsmeade D2C doesn’t seem entirely unrealistic to me.
  2. I mean, the DC characters were leaking back in October - so depending on where those leaks were coming from and how successful Lego might’ve been in plugging them up, we might want to start keeping an eye out starting as early as right after Series 20 comes out. Fingers crossed.
  3. Not going to lie, I would buy multiples of those. And I’m not even trying to army build a cavalry or put together a medieval or western scene. If Lego hasn’t realized we’d want this someone is dropping the ball. I’m pretty sure most of us would pay a little more for a slightly larger bag if they needed to do it like that.
  4. That’s true - the problem is that the next wave is most likely based off of the OotP and HBP movies, and neither of those have a bunch of new magical creatures in the movies (well, except for thestrals, but we already got a new thestral in a Fantastic Beasts set). So the only way we’ll see any new animals is if we’re lucky enough to get the DA Patronus lesson scene as a set (which would be awesome). I’m even more surprised that we haven’t gotten any fake lists yet. I’d have expected at least one by now, especially since we’ve got a cmf to make a fake lineup for as well. Maybe the London Toy Fair next week will bring the both real leakers and trolls out of the woodwork - that should keep us all busy.
  5. Now that we’ve gotten the Daily Prophet, Quibbler and Hogwarts acceptance letter the Marauders Map is probably the last obvious custom printed tile we really need in our library of Harry Potter accessories. I think the only problem with using the map as an accessory for one of the Weasley twins is there really isn’t an accessory option for the other twin to have in that scene (and I think we can agree that the twins need to match however we get them). I think a better option for getting the map would with Harry in a cmf (the hoodie he wears when caught out of bounds by Snape is a good outfit option) or even as an exclusive in next year’s advent calendar like the Hogwarts acceptance letter was this year.
  6. As stated above, the build your own adventure book and the side builds in the Great Hall aren’t really a reason to be worried - I doubt either of those will prevent Lego from making a Chamber of Secrets or Forbidden Corridor sets if they decide to. Also, while agree with you that a Hogsmeade set is possible, I don’t see the Shrieking Shack necessarily being apart of it (a HBP/DH themed village featuring the Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes, and the Hog’s Head seems much more likely). Any worry we have over if we’ll get the ‘missing’ portions of the already covered movies should be reserved for the prospective lifetime of the theme. Obviously we don’t have confirmation on what’s coming next, but I’d put my money on Lego continuing with sets based off the 5th through 8th movies in the next couple of years. The question being whether the theme will have the staying power to still be lucrative enough for them to go back and fill in the earlier movies when they’ve finished working through them chronologically (which is entirely possible with the Fantastic Beasts movies going on until at least 2025).
  7. A) I am choosing to ignore the fact that the trolls centaur piece apparently has a hole in its butt that you stick things in. B) Things like the Knight Bus and Beauxbatons Carriage arguably play only a small roll in the movies, but we still got sets of them. Lego doesn’t prioritize sets based off their importance to the plot (hence why we’ve only gotten the climax scene from one out of the four movies covered so far) - they want sets that have fun builds and lots of playability options. I think there’s a good chance of getting a set based on Grawp this year because it could fill in one of the smaller price points, and a centaur could fit in that set easily.
  8. I agree, because of the proportions and more rounded edges the trolls piece just doesn’t work for a ‘normal’ centaur (for that matter, does it actually have a tail?). If we see a centaur body used before it turns up in Harry Potter I’d expect it to be if a more ‘realistic’ centaur turns up in CMF series 20 (which is a possibility with the new larger bags).
  9. I think the obvious choice for getting the twins is a Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes set (which might very well be the set I’m hoping for most out of a HBP wave). I’d definitely put my money on Bill appearing in a DH set. Best options are a wedding based Burrow and Shell Cottage (he also featured in the flight of the seven Potters and the Battle of Hogwarts, but there are other characters who have more priority in those scenes). Percy is an iffy character - it would be nice to finally get him, since he’s reasonably significant in the books - but he does a good job of not being in any real action scenes in the movies, and the later movies he appears in barely acknowledge that he’s a Weasley. My money is him appearing as a CMF (maybe a promo figure of some sort but that hair might need a new mold). Ginny, Arthur and Molly are all safe bets. Whether the next wave is OotP and HBP based or just focuses on OotP, Ginny will be an obvious inclusion in at least one of the sets. Molly and Arther will almost certainly feature in an inevitable Burrow set (whichever movie it’s based on), and have a decent chance of showing up in a Grimmauld Place set (not to mention that if Molly doesn’t show up with Bellatrix in a final battle set I will feel cheated). Charlie is the real wildcard. Technically, he doesn’t have a canon appearance - so unless Lego wants to pull from the Hogwarts Mystery mobile game there’s nothing to base the minifigure off of (and as fun as it would be to get stuff from the mobile game, the possibility of Lego actually doing that seems slim). Clearly I’ve put way to much thought into this.
  10. Even if we don’t get any set descriptions from ‘behind the curtain’ as it were, there’s a decent chance we could still get some set names. If nothing else, the trolls should come out of the woodwork to give us some fake set names and cmf lineups.
  11. A different face print is definitely possible - and in addition, Dumbledore doesn’t wear his hat during the Horcrux Cave scene and has his withered hand. Switch out the skirt piece for some printed legs So he can recline on the rocks and you’ve got a fig that’s even more different from the CMF than the one we got in the Clocktower set.
  12. It’s likely an ease of availability thing too. It’s easier to grab the unprinted version from the D2C that’s currently in production than quite possibly have to recreate a custom printed version done in a different factory for a CMF that was retired a year ago.
  13. The Burrow is a very iconic location in Harry Potter, and I think we’re guaranteed to get it - even though it took nearly a decade to get it during the first run of the theme. The question is whether we’ll get it this year as a HBP set or next year as as setting for the DH1 wedding. (I’m personally hoping for the latter, since it will offer some differences from the 2010 set and allow for some really awesome exclusive minifigures.) My personal predictions for this year would be: - $15-20 set: Horocrux Cave (with Harry, Dumbledore and Infiri) - $30-40 set: Encounter with Grawp (with Harry, Hermione, Umbridge and Centaur(s)) - $40-50 set: Borgin & Burke’s (with Draco, Bellatrix, Greyback and Death Eaters) - $60-70 set: Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes (with Fred, George, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny) - $70-80 set: Grimmauld Place (with Harry, Sirius, Kreacher, Molly, Arthur, and Order Members) - $100 set: Astronomy Tower + DA Meeting (with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Neville, Ginny, Umbridge, Draco, Crabbe, Goyle, and DA member)
  14. My money’s on a Yule Ball theme - it would let them give us some more characters from that and any reused Minifigures would be from a high price point set like the McGonagall and Dumbledore from this year’s. So I was thinking, this year we got 4 new torso prints, a new head print for Flitwick, a new head for McGonagall (which didn’t have any new designs but must have taken some of the budget since it would have required a different production line from the piece used in the Great Hall set), and a new printed 2x3 tile. That’s 6 new prints - 6.5 with McGonagall’s head. Plus there’s the new color for the beard piece on the Architect Statue. That’s a massive amount of new prints for an advent calendar, especially when compared to the recent Star Wars offerings. If that volume of new prints keeps up I could easily see us getting the Patil twins next year - with the Yule Ball versions of the trio being our ‘repeats’, and maybe another minifig with new prints. It would also be pretty easy to throw together one of the Hogwarts boys with no new prints needed (they’d all use the same torso as either Cedric or Harry). If they give us Neville and Ginny in next year’s sets it would be pretty easy to give us them in their Yule Ball outfits in the advent calendar.
  15. My personal guess is that we’ll see the Room of Requirements inside the Astronomy Tower - much the same way we saw the Yule Ball inside the Clocktower in this wave. Gets Lego out of specifically depicting Dumbledore’s death scene (which parents are not going to want to buy for little kids) but still gives fans all they need to cobble it together themselves if they want to. I’ve definitely got my fingers crossed for a Dumbledore’s Army set, I’m hoping for the patronus lesson meeting, so we can get more sparkly blue animal molds. And that’s also the scene where Umbridge breaks in and catches them so it’s really the best option for a big set next year.
  16. Isn’t the water Nokk also just trans blue, while the stag patronus has imbedded sparkles? And how much of a size difference is there between the minidoll style horses and the minifigure style horses?
  17. Admittedly, I agree that those nearly 20 year old sets are perfectly ripe for updates, I’d just prefer we get a proper treatment of the later movies first, and I only brought up the older sets as a way to contrast how the later movies didn’t really get proper sets in the first place. As for missing out on the 5-8 based sets the first time around, you didn’t miss too much. I’m just as excited as you about the upcoming sets and I still have all of those sets and minifigures from the first run of the theme. I’m particularly looking forward to finally getting some characters like Tonks and Kingsley (Lego only did about five characters introduced in OotP and later during the first run, and only one of them wasn’t a villain). Let’s hope that the Fantastic Beasts movies do extend the lifetime of the theme, both so we get more Harry Potter sets and because I sincerely want more Beasts sets. (Whether any of the characters show up in CMF series 2 should be a good litmus test for that, so fingers crossed)
  18. Personally, I’m hoping for the exact opposite. Because the ‘gaps’ in the previous two years of sets aren’t actually gaps. The Forbidden Corridor, Chamber of Secrets, Shrieking Shack, Second Task, etc. have all been done before during the theme’s original run. In contrast, the 5th movie got exactly 1 set during the original run, which was really only identifiable as being about OotP because it had Umbridge and a couple of thestrals, otherwise it’s just a generic Hogwarts castle set, and didn’t even include the most popular fan favorite characters introduced in that movie. The 6th film got passed over when it was released, and when the theme was revived in 2010 all it got was the Burrow and some small nods in other sets. Deathly Hallows part 1 never got any sets at all and Part 2 only got two sets - a tiny Forbidden Forest set and a relatively small Battle of Hogwarts set (and the only truly good thing to come out of those was an updated Neville). So yeah, don’t take it personally but I’d really prefer that Lego didn’t do the 5-8 movies dirty again just because some people are sour about not getting a new Chamber of Secrets.
  19. Don’t forget Luna! But a customizable figure does make a bit more sense for that set name than just throwing together a random group of students. Didn’t the last customizable brickheadz set not sell well though?
  20. True, but how long will it take us to sort out the real set names from all the fake leaks?
  21. It’s hard to say seeing as we never see the train directly next to the castle for a proper 1 to 1 comparison. If nothing else though, I think it is in scale to the Whomping Willow and flying car side build.
  22. Not really, the only set she could really be in from movies 1-4 is a Chamber of Secrets set, which Lego opted to skip over last year. I fully expect her to show up in next year’s wave, since Order of the Phoenix is when her character really starts joining in the action.
  23. I suspect that until very recently Lego didn’t want to do any floppy eared dogs. The dachshund from cmf series 19 and the bulldog from the upcoming City sets are the first system style dogs with ears like that. With any luck, now that that particular barrier has been crossed we will eventually see a second large breed dog mold with floppy ears that can be used for a Labrador. (I’m also wondering if we could get a service dog style harness as well)
  24. I think you’re right about Slughorn in that his scenes aren’t really the sort Lego focuses on for sets, but I don’t think the CMF is the only place he could turn up. His Christmas party in HBP is prime fodder for a future advent calendar after all.
  25. Hopefully that means the new long hair+headphones piece will lead to a female gamer - somewhat overdue at this point in my opinion.
