Yes, we talked about it when the Trolls teaser first came out. Obviously the Trolls centaur legs aren’t compatible with any other theme, but hopefully now that Lego has done one version we’ll get a ‘realistic’ version soon enough.

I think it’s possible we’ll get a Borgins and Burke’s set (technically Knocoturn Alley) or even Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes, since it doesn’t share a wall with any of the other buildings on the Alley next year, since they both featured in HBP. But I can’t see them doing more than one store in a standard set, if we get an actual ‘Diagon Alley’ set with multiple shops it will definitely be a D2C.

Yeah, but the Harry Potter theme is extremely popular, so I doubt they’ll start shrinking the numbers of sets per wave anytime soon. We’ve had info of two extra sets crop up much later than when the other set numbers leaked twice now, and I’m inclined to think it will happen again.
-
We’ve only got four set numbers and some reasonably solid rumors that the third CMF next year will be Harry Potter series 2. Other than that it’s just speculation and educated guesses (i.e. nobody believes we’re only getting four sets, logic dictates that they’ll be based off the 5th and 6th movies but nothing confirms that yet, we’ll likely see another advent calendar but that’s not going to be confirmed for months, etc.).

I haven’t seen hide nor hair of this anywhere before, so I’m guessing it’s yet to be released. My bet is that it’s going to be another promotional build - if memory serves, similar images of the snitch were leaked months before the B&N event was announced.

We got both Crabbe and Goyle in the Slytherin Common Room set back in 2002, although both of those were technically a polyjuiced Ron and Harry. Goyle later appeared as himself in the 2011 Battle of Hogwarts set (Crabbe was absent because his actor was arrested for canabis possession, which caused some... minor rewrites to the final movie). Considering that, aside from the polyjuice scenes in CoS and the final battle, Crabbe and Goyle are mostly glorified background characters even in the books - I think our best bet of getting the two of them is if Lego decides to redo the polyjuiced versions of Ron and Harry.

I think it’s just a big fig with a different head. honestly, it’s barely recognizable as the troll because the proportions are all off. Pretty cringy.
-
I think a piece as big and intricate as centaur legs would have to be is a prime candidate for the strategy they used on the niffler and snitch pieces last year. Both also appeared in sets, but the mold budget for them was undoubtedly taken from the CMF. Think of it this way - if the mold is introduced in a set, we’ll likely get one centaur - but if the mold is introduced in the CMF, not only can we army build centaurs, but a potential Forbidden Forest set could have more that one centaur in it, possibly even in different colors.

Plus, Sprout is the only head of house that hasn’t gotten an updated minifigure yet, so she’s due for one (especially since the 2011 version was pretty unrecognizable)

DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
What are you talking about? When you subtract the perceived value of the minifigures from D2C sets you still have sets that are $200 or even much higher. How is that not valuable on its own? But minifigures give the set more shelf appeal in the store and have almost certainly swayed buyers who might otherwise have left it on the shelf or not spared it more than a glance in the first place. It doesn’t take any focus group research to know that exclusive characters are a big draw when selling something, but I’m sure Lego’s done the research anyway. In the end, just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean other people don’t enjoy it and attach value to it. -
Okay, I hate to bring this up because it involves the new Trolls theme - which I am trying very hard to forget the existence of - but the trailer for the new theme shows one of the Country music trolls, which has centaur legs. Now I don’t think this new mold will carry over into Harry Potter or regular systems, since it’s a little too rounded, doesn’t have hooves, and I can’t tell if it has a regular tail - but hopefully it increases our chances of getting proper centaur legs in the near future.

Yes.....? and choirmaster!Flitwick, Gambon Dumbledore and Moody all feature more in movies 5-8 than they do in 1-4, because they all weren’t introduced until movie 3 or 4. That doesn’t change the fact that Cho, Voldemort and the rest of them were all introduced in the 1-4 movie range. My original point was that Luna Lovegood was the only character in series one to be introduced post GoF, and nitpicking on whether Cho played a larger role in GoF or OotP doesn’t change that.
-
You’re probably right, I can never remember the color of his robes in that scene because it’s so dark
-
Uh... Voldemort and Cho were both in Goblet of Fire? In those outfits?
-
I don’t think this will stay exactly the same, because the first series was focused on movies 1-4. The exception being fan favorite Luna Lovegood, who was in the outfit she wore in HBP on the Hogwarts Express, and Lego would have known at the time they weren’t going to be doing a HBP version of the train anytime soon. I’m pretty sure the reason they focused on the first four movies is because series 1 was designed alongside the 2018 wave featuring years 1-2 and the designers also probably had a shortlist of sets which would be included in this year’s wave as well - hence choices like Pajamas Harry, Quidditch Draco, Trelawney, Moody, Dobby, Third Task Cedric, etc. Characters that the designers would know were either important to the plot or fit into planned sets but wouldn’t make it into actual set line ups. In contrast, this time Lego has both a list of characters that never made it into the last two years of sets, as well as a list of niche characters who probably won’t make it into the next two years of sets. Characters from movies 5-8 are also on the table now, and that’s the big thing that’s going to throw off those student to faculty numbers - starting in OotP there are a whole lot more adult characters who aren’t affiliated with Hogwarts. (That being said, oddly enough the numbers in my wishlist/prediction list are surprisingly close to this)
-
Those did spring to mind as well - along with Cedric - although their presence at least had more impact on certain movies. Madam Hooch from the bricktober pack is another example. When you think about it, some characters on loads of people’s series 2 wishlists - like Professor Sprout, Madam Pomfrey or Rita Skeeter - are also pretty inconsequential narrative wise. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the popularity and appearance of a character is more important when making a cmf lineup, and frankly, the inclusion of Fantastic Beasts characters in series 2 will have more to do with whether or not Lego plans to continue that them than whether they think the characters they’d be making were ‘important enough’.
-
I mean, Flitwick and Dean arguably have little to no development and screen time as well, and they were in series 1.

LEGO IDEAS - Dinosaurs Fossils Skeletons
Accio Lego replied to Troglodyte's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am so excited for this set to hit the shelves! I’m worried though, in the past Lego has scaled back sets like this with multiple builds. There are 8 skeletons in the approved proposal: Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Dilophosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Dimorphodon, Plesiosaurus and Tyrannosaurus. Clearly T. rex has made the cut, and I hope the others all have as well.- 47 replies

The thing is you can’t actually judge the longevity of a theme based on the number of characters there are to make. Take this year’s line up for example, of the seven sets only four have characters unique to them and some (like Sirius in the Expecto Patronum set) will almost certainly show up in later sets. The biggest set this year didn’t have a single unique character, the exclusiveness of those figs comes from their Yule Ball outfits. We got Harry in all but one set and in three of those he was wearing the same outfit. This will apply in future waves as well. We’re going to get a lot of different versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione, with several other characters like Dumbledore joining them in being staples. I expect we’ll have at least half a dozen characters in the second cmf that were already in the first, simply because you can’t sell a licensed cmf without versions of the franchises main characters. You’re right, Harry Potter can’t churn out multiple waves a year indefinitely like Star Wars or Superheroes, because unlike them its source material wasn’t written with the express purpose of making toys. However, if Lego keeps it to one wave a year it would be pretty easy to keep the theme going for a while longer.

The bulldog definitely isn’t Harry Potter. In addition to the angry expression he’s also got a gold tooth. Clearly meant to be a specific character (and not Ripper). My guess is Hidden Side, since it’s got a similar feel to their quirky original characters. The owl might be hidden side as well, since owls sort of fit into the whole ‘spooky’ theme. I can’t think why it would be winking like that for a Harry Potter set. For that matter, has there been any announcement about a Halloween set other than the ghost brickheadz? The new owl would work well in something like that, but it seems to close to the holiday for it.
-
What tag are you seeing the bulldog in? I’m not seeing it in the usual ones I check. I’m not 100% sold on the winking owl being Harry Potter related. The strange expression means it’s more specific than just filling up space in an owlery, but it doesn’t look like any of the owls featured in the films. It’s nice to get the piece in a new color though.

The only Weasley we currently have from the theme reboot is Ron, so the remaining family numbers more than just ‘a few’. Likewise, Bellatrix is hardly the only Death Eater we’re missing - with Lucius Malfoy being the most obvious but several other named DEs being prime candidates for villain fodder. There’s also loads of student characters, who are going to be popular for their uniforms, and Susan Bones and Seamus Finnigan making it into sets last year means that we all have the right to hope our favorite minor students will sneak into the line ups as well. There’s also a handful of ghosts and teachers that haven’t been made yet to round up the Hogwarts crew. Not to mention Tonks, Kingsley and the rest of the Order of the Phoenix who were all sadly skipped over during the theme’s first run through. Add in little incidental characters like Rita Skeeter or Xenophilius Lovegood or Griphook or the Dursley’s or Mrs. Figg - well, you get the idea.
-
I definitely agree with you. It would be great if the theme stays strong for years to come so the can swing back and do things like the 2nd Task, Shrieking Shack, Chamber of Secrets and Forbidden Corridor. But ultimately, all of these sets that are ‘missing’ were done by Lego over a decade ago, and for the immediate future I’d rather Lego focus on making the sets for movies that never got proper attention back then. The highest sets on my wishlist for next year are Grimmauld Place, a Hogwarts set featuring a DA meeting (with plenty of uniform torsos and hopefully some patronuses), and Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes.
