The problem isn’t that Snape’s death scene occurs in the boat house - the problem is that Snape’s death scene is the only scene from the movies ever to take place in the boathouse. The graveyard has an involved resurrection and massive fight scene that take place in it without Cedric’s body being visible, the Astronomy Tower has a recognizable exterior and will include several rooms that have no connection to Dumbledore’s death, but there’s no scene to recreate in the boathouse other than Snape’s murder and lego’s just not going to do that.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

So I looked up the ‘traditional’ anniversary materials and the 10th anniversary is tin/aluminum while the 20th is platinum. Given that both of those translate roughly into silver when it comes to a foil bag type medium that seems a good bet. (Plus I doubt Lego really wants to remind everyone of Mr. Gold with their color choice in this particular case) -
yeah, and Snape’s death is easily the bloodiest and most gruesome of the entire franchise - definitely not something they’re going to make a set based on if they won’t even give us Cedric in the graveyard or Dumbledore in the astronomy tower.
-
I wish I could have one of each. It’s such a shame that Lego has only done Friends horse sets in the last few years - I think the City line would benefit from an equestrian center, and a couple of these guys would even make a great basis for a mounted police unit.

The set is already said to have Harry and the 3 Dursley's - 6 minifigs is a typical number for a $60 set, but 8 is pushing it a bit. From the sounds of the minifigure lineup the Astronomy Tower is HBP based, since it includes Slughorn. And Umbridge’s office is something that very much has to be included in a OotP set with an Umbridge minifigure included. Perhaps one of the as yet unknown August sets?
-
If the rumors of the set including Fred and George instead of Ron are true it could even have a working back seat.
-
Well the version of Umbridge we know we’re getting is the one from the scene with Grawp and the Centaurs in the Forbidden Forest, where she’s wearing a deep fuchsia dress as opposed to the pale pink sweater and plaid skirt from the bricktober pack.

That’s why I’ve been thinking that if the $100 price rumor is true then it’s going to be OotP based. So far the only movie not to have a $15-$20 set is SS/PS, and it got a polybag and basically ever activity book currently published is based off that first movie, so it makes sense for HBP to have a cheaper set. On top of that every movie so far has had a set in the $70-$100 range, and right now we’ve only got word of two OotP sets in the $20-30 range. It would feel unfair to the HBP fans on a tight budget not to have an affordable set of their favorite movie, and equally unfair to the OotP fans who can afford it not to have a nice large set of their favorite movie - and from Lego’s point of view it sells more sets. actually, I thought the Hedwig set wasn’t on display - we only know about it because it was described to the people who saw the other four sets
-
Interesting. The August waves of the last two years have typically been a small and a medium set - not a second large set as big as the castle section we’re getting. I think you’re right to guess it will be something outside the castle, and Grimmauld Place and Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes are the best bets for a wave based mostly around OotP and HBP. However, I think I’d put more weight into Grimmauld Place - the past two years Lego has been pretty good with spreading out the price points evenly over the movies covered. Right now if our rumors are correct we’ve got two small OotP sets ($20 Room of Requirements + $30 Grawp) and one large HBP set (Astronomy Tower). From a price point view, we don’t need another big ticket HBP set - we need a big ticket OotP set and a smaller, more affordable HBP set.

Technically you can rearrange the modular sections however you want. You don’t even have to have the parts of the Whomping Willow or Clocktower the way they are in the official instructions.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

I thought the rule was that we couldn’t post the pictures or links but we could describe where they were showing up? -
The Harry Potter CMF probably won’t start leaking until after series 20 releases, and with series 20 coming in May and the Harry Potter sets coming June at the earliest (and more likely July) I wouldn’t expect to see any physical leaks from them for another month or so.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

Yeah, I’m not interested in another generic ‘party’ cmf like series 18, especially since I normally don’t go for the costumed characters. However, piñatas are pretty specifically associated with Mexico, unlike the very generic children with birthday hats seen in series 18. It makes me wonder if the entire series couldn’t be internationally themed, with different party traditions from around the world. I think I could forgive series 20 for being another party theme if it gave us that kind of cultural diversity. -
Which is one of the main reasons many people are putting more stock in the rumors that the set actually comes with Fred and George instead

That would explain why the torso is plain white. The new piñata piece is pretty fun too. -
Theoretically you could combine those two and represent the group’s arrival in the graveyard with the Zouwu, a couple of the matagots that tagged along and a facade of the mausoleum. You’d probably have to cut Theseus from the minifigure lineup but you could include Yosef Kama, Credence and Nagini instead (if we’re talking a similar price point to Newt’s Suitcase the six minifigs isn’t impossible).
-
Non-licensed CMFs have always had 16 characters, so there’s nothing to dial back to for series 20. As for why we’re going back to 16 for the licensed series, if I had to hazard a guess it would be the relatively poor performance of the various Lego movie series (my local Barnes and Noble still has some TLM2 bags). The marketing department has probably also told Lego that with the price hike collectors are more likely to spring for full series only if there are a more manageable number of characters.
-
Don’t get me wrong, if we never get a Leta Lestrange because of this I’ll be severely disappointed. But the daunting prospect of 22 figs at the new hiked price has been mitigated so the relief is balancing out my sadness right now. But fingers crossed that they follow the same structure from last movie next year and do a big set from CoG and a small set from the FB3 trailer (personally I liked that strategy since it allows them to preserve the high level of screen accuracy we see in the other Wizarding World sets).
-
Well, we are noticeably missing Ron with his terrier patronus, which would be a simple color change like Luna’s hare. Only slightly bummed about the news of 16 characters in the CMF. I don’t think any of us are as invested in Fantastic Beasts as we are in Harry Potter, and our wallets are surely all breathing sighs of relief. I definitely hope the rumors of Fred and George coming in Privet Drive are true, the inclusion of Dobby in that set was really throwing me off, the twins make the minifigure lineup much more believable for me. Buildable Hedwig is intriguing, but I suspect lots of us will be considering skipping that, hopefully Lego does something the make it really spectacular.
-
It’s possible that the unknown $40 set that wasn’t on display at Toy Fair is a Ministry Battle set, which could theoretically include Tonks and Kingsley. It’s even more likely that they’ll be included in the CMF where Lego can just go whole hog on the details and printing for them. Personally, I’d already kind of accepted the fact that the only way we were getting a proper version of the more colorful OotP Tonks was in the CMF with all its extra printing and budget for multiple new hair colors.
-
And the connection points on the Great Hall, Whomping Willow and Clocktower sets don’t do anything if you haven’t bought the others either... your point? I’m not suggesting a set up where both sets wouldn’t look good on their own, just a configuration and connection points that would allow one version of the room to be slid out and the other to be snapped in its place.
-
I’m wondering if the DA patronus lesson set isn’t so small because it’s designed to be modularly swapped out with a room of hidden things in the Astronomy Tower set. Like as a playability feature representing the Room of Requirements’ ability to change into what’s needed.
-
Definitely agree, looking forward to that Ravenclaw torso in a regular set. Plus, we probably wouldn’t get a new locket mold, we’d get a clear 1x1 tile with the locket printed on it.
-
So to summarize the rumors are: - $20 set: DA room of requirements (?) with Harry, Hermione, Luna with hare and otter patronuses - $30 set: Grawp in the forbidden forest with Harry, Hermione, Umbridge and centaurs - $40 set: currently unknown - $60-70 set: Privet Drive set based of Chamber of Secrets - $90 set: Astronomy Tower with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna, Lavender, Draco and Slughorn I’m a bit surprised that they’re going back to CoS for the Dursley’s, especially since it wouldn’t be too hard to make it OotP based (just switch out Dobby and Ron for Mrs. Figg and a dementor). I’m super stoked about the Grawp set because I’ve had that exact set description sitting in my predictions/wishlist document for going on two years now, so that’s pretty cool. Totally going crazy over the prospect of more patronuses. I’m strongly expecting to find out about another couple of sets coming out in August, and no doubt the CMF will be used to fill in some character gaps, but this is a promising spread.

It’s not about amount of screen time, it’s where it is. The Bloody Baron and Fat Friar only really appear during the first year welcome feast - which already exists as a set - which means there really isn’t another set to shoehorn them in to.
