  1. I feel like while it doesn't have the appeal with kids to be a standard theme, lego at the very least needs to snatch it up to do an Icons enterprise at some point. I think midi-scale ships and dioramas of the bridge for each ship would also do very well. On that topic, I'd like a midi-scale Orville. I would love it if lego managed to snag the DC license. It's so weird that they're only legally allowed to use like 4 batman characters otherwise Gunn, Zack Snyder, and Scott Snyder show up and beat the designers with a crowbar. I am once again asking for lego Void Rivals. While it takes place in the universe of the transformers, it has proven itself as it's own entity able to thrive without them, and is the best new worldbuilding I've seen in years. Only other thing I think I'm missing out of my dream sets would be Eragon (book based, there is no movie). I guess turning Dune into a full theme would be nice.
  2. You're close- I think he's using it to buy whey. my evidence is the other set with Red Hulk where he's absolute batman sized. Captain America 4 is hilarious to me because at this point the movie could be pretty good and do fairly well at the box office for a post-endgame marvel movie and then still lose a ton of money just because depending on your source it's either closing in on OR SURPASSED the budget of Infinity war and Endgame COMBINED. For a SOLO FILM. And not even a "solo film" like No Way Home or Deadpool and Wolverine, to my knowledge there are zero big cameos in this movie beyond Harrison Ford refusing to grow a mustache and Giancarlo Esposito being typecast. To be fair, I'd consider it a character assassination if he DIDN'T decide that a functional planet killer was enough to move Alderaan to war. Yeah, exactly. It's not a shining moment of morality, but there really was no good way to end the combat- by all estimates, the civilian death toll would have been just as high or higher as the Japenese government was essentially brainwashing their civilians to think american soldiers were literal demons and encouraging women and children to attack them. Although I think we still would have had atomics, seeing how far in development they were- somewhat more horrifyingly, I think without a combat usage in WW2 either side could easily have pulled the trigger in the cold war. Lord knows we got about as close as one can get even in the actual timeline of events. Yeah, exactly. Mon Mothma's Legends characterization- essentially teetering on the edge of authoritarianism because she was so scared to trust anyone else with the burden of the decisions she had to make during the war- was so much more interesting to me than her kind of stupid canon decision to just gut the new republic military. I think it's a good move long term, but it needed to be accompanied by something along the lines of MASSIVE incentives for sector or system militias to vastly increase in power, whether it was tax exemptions for systems that would use a portion of the saved credits to build up stronger defense fleets, or even just arming their citizenry. The idea of just crossing your fingers that we wouldn't need the military doesn't feel at all reasonable, especially from the mother of the rebellion. Ah- I think it's uninhabited in canon and legends at that point in the timeline, but I agree that at least in theory Tarkin wouldn't particularly care if there had been innocents, seeing as he blew up a nonmilitary planet shortly beforehand. The question is if the 2025 thread will actually have anything to be on-topic about. As they usually open a few days after the january sets release, if current rumors are true, we could just call it "Arkham Asylum 2025 rumors and discussion thread"
  3. I think we've had August price points and started to get hints as early as February before. I agree, but I think it's moreso about the fact that aside from the helmet the figures are literally identical. It's not lego's fault, that's how pilots are, but it'd be like if they did a $70 X-wing with all the characters being background rebel pilots with the same face. I think for $70 the price is not terrible, but if they'd included a desirable figure it would have gone a long way towards making that feel worth it. You throw in, like, Dooku and Plo or something and I'd buy it day one instead of my current plan to wait for a discount and/or see how much my MOC would cost to make physically.
  4. Aside from the fact that that's pretty subjective, it's not just THAT they let him go, it's that they overtly lied about why. There's no reason to do that. I don't think so, and it's not just a "change in management", it's rebooting the universe. To me, keeping only the stuff you did while letting everyone else's stuff die seems pretty selfish, especially if you pretend you're cutting the rest to have a clean slate. It really isn't the same thing though- they were always in a murky area canon wise. The netflix shows were certainly written as if they were set in the MCU, regardless of whether or not they were given canon status. Peacemaker was not only explicitly written as part of the DCEU, but literally has the DCEU justice league appear. Making it part of the DCU is less like officially saying Daredevil is MCU canon and more like if they rebooted the MCU, then said Daredevil was canon to the new one. I mean it's even worse than that it's like if the MCU avengers showed up to arrest Fisk at the end of season 3 and THEN they said it was canon to the new universe. Obviously palpatine is evil, but he himself isn't really all that volatile. He's able to hide that he's a sith from jedi masters despite being in a room with them consistently for over a decade. I think you're going too far in response. Sheev is calm the vast majority of the time we see him, and while it's a front, he acts respectfully whenever he's not in full-on "now, jedi, you will die" mode. That doesn't really say anything in regards to the extent of how evil he is. I don't know exactly what you meant, but I'd point out that Alderaan was more or less defenseless. They had a planetary military force, but it wasn't exactly a powerhouse- it'd be like saying Cleveland is a military target because it has a police force (for now). He is, he just had a bad day in society. He didn't say migrants- I don't really understand what he's saying beyond that he thinks you could bend the OT into a "the empire was right" perspective- but I think this probably references the sham alliance between the two worst factions that ended with the nazis fighting a two-front war- although I'm pretty sure Germany broke the truce and did that to themselves. I second this fully. Sorry- I wrote my comment before yours appeared.
  5. I agree, but I also think we just have too many clone trooper sets on shelves at the same time, especially in terms of battle packs. That's entirely possible. A part of me almost wonders if Plo was meant for the ARC but was cut for budget reasons, though I wouldn't say there's enough evidence to seriously consider that theory unless/until the year fully goes by without another Plo appearence. He's consistently been the best fake leaker (Partially because he's admitted multiple times to being a faker so he's not really trying to fool anyone as much)
  6. I still can't forgive the new DCU guys for axing Cavill for a "clean slate" then turning around and saying the suicide squad guys are all coming back and that most of the peacemaker show is canon, somehow. There was like a few month period between the end of the weird post-Snyder hodgepodge and the Gunn announcement where some suit said they had a 10-year plan focused on Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, and I mean like c'mon that's the obvious move how are we not doing that.
  7. "Faith? I lost that a long time ago." Yeah exactly. People are really putting their hopes on DC suits being able to differentiate specific superman outfits.
  8. Yeah, I figured, I was just already digging through my files for the Mustafar one so I figured I'd show it off. Thanks! I am going with one of these.
  9. I mean, we could speculate whether or not anything in the trailer seems like a Soup mech or power armor for Lex. We don't know it but I'd bet on it that we won't. That mold is a big signal to me for the downfall of the theme. We got type 2 and 3 cowls at the same time for a number of years, depending on which was better suited to the specific man, but the type 4 seems to have replaced both.
  10. First, while I agree it's possible Plo will be in something else, lego has had microfighter exclusive figures before, so it can't be ruled out. The fact that the microfighter is coming first also is a point in favor of him being exclusive or at least not directly planned for something IMO, as if he was planned to be in a more expensive set I can't imagine lego wouldn't want that out first so they could draw sales for that before making Plo more widely availible. For the second part, honestly, it absolutely is just you, there's really zero logic behind lego releasing a cancelled torrent. That set is so old it would be incredibly out of place in a 2025 lineup. Not to mention a few other things- lego has been overwhelmingly P2 focused in the past half-decade, so at the very least I'd assume they'd change the figure lineup. And with the amount of content there is overall nowadays, even with the amount of republic vehicles we get, I don't think the torrent sees the light of day at all anytime soon. But it's been so long since the cancelled one that if it did, it'd be a new design sharing at best passing similarities to the cancelled one. Agreed- the design philosophy has evolved. Even if we ever did get a new Torrent- which I doubt is happening anytime soon, even with the amount of republic vehicles we get, there's just an astronomical and ever-expanding amount of content to cover- I'm confident it'd be a wholly new design. Yeah that tracks. Not all of the death troopers were protecting your Dedra- some went with Thrawn and ended up causing Sabine to use the force after they were killed. As a side note- Sabine's a great character, if I had to have a Dedra it'd be her, but I really hope they reveal that her using the force on Peridea was moreso due to the planet's intrinsic force power. I really like the idea of a non-force-sensitive jedi learner and don't like the idea of retconning characters to be force-sensitive. It'd be like if they made Han Solo a jedi.
  11. Pirate Snub fighter for $3.29 Lego discount from $35 to $21 75% off VIP Point discount- spent a tiny amount of points for an additional $15 off And then I spent points normally for the last bit- I did it before selecting my ZIP code so it applied tax afterwards, hence why it was $3.29 and not free.
  12. I feel like that'd make not giving the guy who's most iconic feature is his special arm arm printing even dumber. You should see the DC line. Same situation except there's only 3 sets including the mech and 4+. I mean he has leg printing.
  13. It wasn't my fault, I was cold and it was giving off heat. Honestly, aside from the fact that the X-men have a bigger fanbase than the spider-verse movies just off, like, box office, it's not "do people like the spider verse movies" it's "Are spot and Miles's specific outfit from the spider-verse movies more popular than the X-men", to which the answer is unequivocally no. Look at the forums and stuff- Afols had been begging for the X-men since the start of the theme. We got two sets early on and then for a full decade the most we got was the occasional Wolverine. As for kids, I guarantee you the vast majority of them don't care enough to shell out $50 for a different logo on their Miles. Not to mention the Gwen fig is almost exactly the same as the non ATSV sets. The issue is saturation. If this was our first time in like a decade getting Miles and Gwen, I could see it being a bestseller even at that price. But we get them so frequently that I highly doubt people are going to go rabid for a slightly different Miles and a nearly identical Gwen figure for a set almost double the price it should be. If they were Lex mechs I might honestly have purchased more than one to mod one into a GL mech and/or make a little diorama of Supes taking down Lexcorp bots. I don't even know what Circe's from in this context, just a vague recollection of her turning Wonder Woman into a pig and making Batman sing the blues, so I'd hazard a guess they wouldn't want to risk it on a character that's not all that popular.
  14. I will never surrender. You can pry my fabric capes from my cold, dead hands. Vader will survive longer than many others due to his unique two-piece helmet. He'll be one of the last to fall. Yeah that's actually pretty cool, I didn't realize they did it too. I prefer mine, but mainly just because I hate the ninjago mech limbs and have actively been removing them from every set involving them I get. I have to admit the brighter blue looks much better. I think this might the only time I've ever bought a lego set mainly as an investment into future sets. I have two soups already (Cavill and a generic comic soup). While I like DC (obviously) it's not a theme I want to collect all the characters for- I'd be fine with the main leaguers and my Batmen- so I don't care about Lex, and of course nobody cares about the build. But if the Soup Mech sells well, we could finally get Diana, Hal, and Barry on shelves again. I honestly don't think the ATSV set will. It's just so absurdly overpriced, I can't see it being a solid seller right off the bat. IIRC the X-jet didn't sell out, and that was a similar situation. Although even then it'd been forever since our last Magneto/Cyclops/Rogue, whereas we get Gwens and Miles's all the time. "like a bee" should become the lego equivalent of "to the moon". Yeah, there are so many sets I just can't buy because they're so overpriced. If Ahsoka's starfighter was $30, the Bodega was $30, and the X-jet was... I dunno, $50? I'd buy all three in a heartbeat. But they're so hilariously overpriced I just can't do it. Honestly the X-jet doesn't even seem to be selling well, every store I go to has them fully stocked and I can't imagine they're restocking often. It feels like lego's playing a game of chicken to see if people break and buy it before they have to put it on clearance.
  15. This is extremely important - DO NOT BUY THE SET IF YOU RECOGNIZE HOW OVERPRICED IT IS. If we keep buying them anyway, the prices will only go up. If you don't think it's a fair price, have the willpower to wait for a discount. The best thing to come out of the wave. I don't think it's too negative- the bright spot you mention is handicapped by the price. You can't disregard the price of a set when talking about it. What's funny is I was going to make a joke about how he clearly meant Moon Knight, but I realized I don't know whether he's referring to Mario Kart or Monkey Kid in reality, which is much funnier to me. The only buy here for me is the iron man mech. I'll probably bricklink Anti-Venom or get him when the mech hits a discount. I got really excited when I saw the white spider logo on the mech but no, it's not spidey PS4 inside, it's the normal one. I agree with most other people that it's just an overall disappointing wave. Also, why is Poe Dameron cosplaying Bucky? He forgot the arm, too! Is this the new Moon Knight personality?
  16. I honestly really do prefer the 2021 Tumbler's design. The Batman fig is terrible. The helmet doesn't work at all (I'll never get why lego's so determined to always give batman white eyes while the films are simultaneously determined to never give him them), Two-Face doesn't do it for me as a representation of the excellent performance and character, same with Ledger's joker. I'll give them two points- the bat signal is nice and I like that they depict Two-face attacking Joker on the box. That's it. Oh, and THE RUBBER CAPE TAKEOVER IS REAL. You all doubted me. It's becoming more and more frequent. OPEN YOUR EYES, PEOPLE. The slippery slope is real. It's even showing up in Harry Potter sets now. In a few years, I think fabric capes will become a rarity. I did one a few years ago and my idea behind it was that it protected him from kryptonite. It's still stupid and oversized, but at least there was some concept behind it (And I'd already done a Lex mech). The worst part is that oftentimes inflation at least makes up for a significant amount of it, but here the price is so much higher that it really doesn't.
  17. Not gonna lie I had to google "attack synonyms starting with N", I just felt it needed one. I'm doing something a little different with this wave (Assuming I can even get it out before the end of the year...) so Hoth Trench is the only one that fits the criteria I can't tell you about, but we'll see. Felucia would be a lot of fun- I might do that in a later thing. I've been trying to crack space battle dioramas for a long time. I honestly think the best strategy is just a ton of microscale ships above a black base with a mosiac of a planet. Thrawn's office is gonna happen, tho. Mara Jade followers, I need an idea for a canon set (about 300 pieces) that it would make sense for Mara to be thrown into. @CloneCommando99, the time has come. Ideally not a starfighter, though I cannot say why.
  18. It was $20 at Walmart in the US but it sold out astronomically fast. I sprinted to rural walmarts as soon as I heard but it was gone already- I don't blame people, that's a crazy good deal. That's the price of a battlepack for more figs and a significantly more substantial set of parts. And I mean this is really where we get into "canon is what you make it"- according to disney, both are canon, but the canon comics (and visual dictionaries) have been retconned by subsequent canon material a number of times. The poor Ahsoka novel had both it's flashbacks and main story retconned. Which is all to say- I think it's asinine to claim that a character has to be canon to be exciting or that non-canon characters aren't exciting picks just by virtue of being non-canon. Lego routinely produces non canon figures, be they from the EU or their own original content, and like I said, you can't tell me with a straight face that most people would be more excited for Osha than Revan.
  19. I mean, he did take the coward's way out rather than face justice when he lost. Plus he apparently had to hide from the Teselecta, which is not a very scary sounding name. Honestly I'm not really excited for Arkham. I got excited for a batcave and they managed to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory with that one. Even though they COULD get a really solid figure count re-using prison jumpsuits and parts for guards/doctors, I doubt that they will.
  20. Great list, but that last set's called Nexu Neutralization, right? What dioramas would you guys want to see out of the line if it continued?
  21. Plo probably does show up in something else at some point, but if we're going to start using microfighters to get new/previously UCS-locked versions of desirable characters, I'll give up all my complaints about the gimmick. That's a huge boon to kids and Afols alike. Peridea set is down to $44 in most places. Great location set, it really creates an atmosphere representative of the show. I've removed most of my characters from it and have Ahsoka fighting Baylan- I'm going to make a little version of the shrine from episode 4 in the center. This is true, but then they should just SAY "we don't have the budget." Not to keep harping on what other toy designers do, but the transformers team literally told everyone "hey we ran out of budget so our upcoming wave is repaints/restocks" (and then used the restocks on characters who had been scalped or had distribution issues in the past). If the designers just said "we recognize you wanted X, unfortunately we didn't have the budget for it, so we went with Y.", it'd come off a lot better than these weird evading the question interviews. It's not like they're being interrogated either, these are pretty softball interviews and it's weird to see them come off so smug and evasive. I'd be OK with them only having two unique leg prints or something but I think we need at least 3 each of torso and helmet designs. You forgot Mara Jade, but I generally agree. I don't think a figure being canon automatically makes it desirable, or vice versa. I think a Revan fig would automatically sell whatever set it came from, despite the fact that his "canon-ness" extends to just a namedrop in a visual dictionary. And I think if you asked most fans if they'd rather have a major character from KOTOR or something like Outlaws, they'd choose KOTOR any day of the week. And lego knows this - they made Malak an anniversary fig, after all. I respect you for being logically consistant.
  22. I disagree. Batman as a concept is a monster that scares criminals in the night, but he DOES try his best to help his rogues in a number of continuities. (Also, BTAS Batman is ABSOLUTELY fear-inspiring- at least moreso than most of the cartoon ones) I've petitioned Gunn to make this the Superman 2025 post credits scene regardless of what happens in the movie itself.
  23. I did the american dub for "The Transformers - The headmasters". I was the one who came up with the line "Fortress Maximus I'm gonna kill you and you're gonna die I'm gonna kill you you're gonna die now" said in a somewhat monotone yet fast voice, as well as the realization that japan was actually trying to say "enlarge" whenever they say the japanese translation of "transform", because c'mon, why would they try to say "transform" in Transformers? I like Man of Steel, but I can't deny it wouldn't have been improved by a post credits scene where it's revealed that the family Superman snapped Zod's neck to save were actually Luigi (of Luigi's pizza fame)'s family. Leading to the following scene: Luigi the Pizza Guy *frantically doing stereotypical italian hand gestures*: My machinations have come to fruition, like-a a delicious pizza-pie. The Man of Steel has been forced to kill his own species. The dramatic mental toll this-a will take on him is almost as devastating as when someone is forced to watch pineapple be put on pizza. *From the shadows, a being BAMFS into the room. We see only the red glow of their eyes.* Luigi draws his pizza cutter, the blade gleaming in the dark room: Who-a goes there? Reveal yourself, or I'll-a cut you into eight slices. The being: Not sure how I got to this universe. Something to do with bats and men, I think. Luigi: You're-a an enemy of the batman? The being: Of a bat-man, in a way. Luigi: Well, then it's-a about time for us to pay him a visit. The being: No.... *the shadowy figure grins, bearing gleaming, sharp teeth, as he steps from the shadows* MORBIUS: It's Morbin Time. I feel like this would work in his favor overall. The general civilians, especially children, who see/buy the merch will think of batman in a more positive way, which helps him in situations like keeping kids he's rescuing calm, but if criminals are still getting their spines fractured every night that fear will still spread.
  24. The thing is, if lego agreed with you guy that they were family guy and bad, they would have gone back to the old design- just like they got rid of the rebel pilot helmet design they introduced within a year of the stormtrooper one. It's been more than 5 years since the new helmet was introduced, meaning the old mold is likely literally gone. It would cost a new mold to bring it back, at which point it'd make more sense to just create a third design. It's really annoying to see this pop up every single time a stormtrooper appears somewhere. The 2014 style helmets are gone and not returning and at this point you need to accept it. For Afols, sure, but most kids aren't army-building $55 sets (or $40 lego.shop exclusives). It'll have been 8 years since the last battlepack with standard stormtroopers in 2025, I think it makes sense to put one out there. Sure, but if anything that makes them MORE generalized and important to have in battle packs. (I liked the Thrawn Trilogy era idea that stormtroopers were crack troops and the imperial army mostly consisted of army troopers, but Andor is the only project to actually show that on screen. Everything else has stormtroopers as the generic grunts) I don't know. That description sounds good, but the last starfighter was $60 in 2010, or $86 today just off inflation (so realistically $90-100 with the other lego pricing increases). The leaked one, which IIRC has the same number of figs, is $70, right? Between being $16 less just adjusting for inflation, lego's own price increases on top of that, and the fact that sets in general trend to be more detailed but smaller, I feel like logically it's got to be significantly smaller. I almost wonder if it'll be TIE Avenger VS A-wing or something. Not that we have any indication of them specifically showing up, but lego loves their two-packs, and given how small they already appear to be making the U-wing, they could probably have bundled the two together for that same $110 price. This is kind of funny to me- I'm a transformers fan (I know, I've totally never mentioned this before) so I consistently see hasbro pulse's new product announcements on youtube, and every black series/tvc announcement invariably is fully of angry comments, a good number of which say lego does it better than them. I think it's a grass is greener situation (Although some of our designers are pretty smug- I don't know about the Black Series/TVC teams, but something I really like about the transformers team is how transparent and humble they are- always pointing out when design work was done by their coworkers in japan, actively telling us in advance about recolor/restock heavy waves, etc)
  25. They should have dubbed Lois's response as "yeah, it does here too, idiot", and then replace however much footage/time was left in that scene with a frame of superman sitting there without moving or speaking.
