[Alt-Build Contest] 76962 Baby Bumpy: Ankylosaurus
Mandalorianknight replied to 6180HydroSearchSub's topic in LEGO Licensed
Looks awesome! A completely different type of thing that looks almost like it could be an actual set on it's own! I also think it's very cool you were able to do this digitally. I feel like digital alt builds are always really tricky for me- I like to use it for mocs where I have a full inventory access, but when parts are limited I find it very tricky. -
[Alt-Build Contest] - 31109 Pirate ship
Mandalorianknight replied to Max_Lego's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looks very nice! One thing that might help you in originality is that while it's the same general concept, the pirate ship in the official set is very cartoony, while yours goes more for realism. -
[CONTEST] Eurobricks Alt-Build Contest 2025
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Whoah, I almost missed this until I saw someone post in the licensed themes thread. Just for clarification, if I was, say, going to do a Star Wars alt build, and it was still something that looked like it belonged in Star Wars, would that score low in originality even if it was a completely different type of thing (say I turned a starfighter into a tank or building)? Are we encouraged to make it look like it's from a different theme? Also, and this is a total hail mary but I figured I'd just ask since I had an idea, are we able to combine multiple sets if we count the price of each individual set? I think it could lead to some cool cross-theme stuff with the minfigures especially. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

You said it twice though I doubt it, unless it does REALLY well, unfortunately. I could see some game designs showing up in otherwise non game-based sets, though. As a side note, have you played it, is it fun, and is Daredevil playable? EDIT: THEY HAVE MOON KNIGHT. I WILL BE PLAYING AS SOON AS I REMEMBER WHERE I PUT MY XBOX It's not an MMO, it's a hero shooter like Overwatch. Doesn't necessarily change a ton, but I don't think it'd be impossible for a few game designs to slot into sets. They did give us multiple waves of 2020 avengers game designs after all, and unlike that game, this one features Spidey and Venom from launch, and more importantly, doesn't seem to be actively terrible. I'm glad somebody is getting enjoyment out of those. (Not trying to be snarky- I legitimately am happy that somebody likes them) -
DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion

I looked at the skies Running my hands over my eyes And I fell out of bed Hurting my head from things that I'd said 'Til I finally died Which started the whole world living Oh, if I'd only seen, oh yeah That the joke was on me, oh no That the joke was on me Oh, no, no, no I called this, but I don't want to say "I told you so". Buy the mech, guys. It is our last and only hope, and even then it may not be enough, but for all we know it'll be the final set in the wider DC universe. Turtle even came around in the end and it wasn't enough to save us. I think the mech WAS lego's idea of a supported assortment of toys, which is if anything even more damning. The start of the DCU (I mean, not really, because of how weirdly they're handling this, but I've beat that horse to death already), assumably some pressure from DC/WB to put SOMETHING out, and they give us... a mech. If the two remaining summer sets end up being as badly handled as the rest of the theme, I say that a week or two after they release, Cloneopatra should restart the Aslume. C'mon and slam, and welcome to the jam I mean to be fair I imagine the movie is why we have the mech, but the same general concept applies. I understand it on some level- they've been burned before, and I fully get wanting to make sure this movie doesn't also end up failing- but we should have at least gotten a few comic-based sets. Just like a larger Luthor mech, a javelin or something, anything. Even if it's just putting some Superman characters into bat-vehicle sets. -
I started a jonkThat started the whole world cryingBut i didn't see...That the jonk was on meI started to cryThat started the whole world laughingIf i'd only seenThat the jonk was on me I respect your commitment to the bit, though it's going to be weird seeing Joker simp for Dedra. This is a very specific set of laughs, are these the ones where it's implied Batman snaps joker's neck at the end of killing joke? Dear lord, this may be the first time this joke's been made here somehow. How could we have missed Evil Jonkler Cart? (Also, why does it not involve a jonkled version of Mario Kart?)

DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
To be fair, you can't tell me it's not going to be terrible. They are in a position to make a TON of villains for a relatively tiny amount of prints since they can all be in prison jumpsuits, but know the set's still going to have like 10 figures total: Batman, Mr Freeze (both reused from BTAS sets), Joker (BTAS head with prison jumpsuit), Catwoman (BTAS Head with prison suit), Two-Face (TDK head with prison jumpsuit), Harleen Quinzel (new torso with re-used head and no leg print), Aaron cash (all re-used parts), Hugo Strange (new head and otherwise all re-used parts), and then if we're lucky two villains we haven't had in awhile like Scarecrow/Riddler/Talon, or even like Robin and a new villain or something, but more likely two generic guards made of re-used parts. I think that was an intentional joke, otherwise he would have said Guy since he's a GL, right? -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Lego needs to make a full on power rangers style collection of different symbiote groots. I'm talking Carnage Groot, Toxin Groot (both normal colors and blue snake thing from Last Dance), Christmas Groot, Venom (comic accurate blue) groot, etc. Hulked-out Venombuster. See I'd say it's the same thing, but the only Marvel sets I've bought since endgame were the NWH final battle ones, the Bugle, and some Iron Man Mechs, so maybe I just like SEEING the legacy sets. Oh, and the venomized spider ham set from VIP points awhile back. You know, if we have to keep having mechs and cars and stuff, here are a few I wouldn't mind: Wolvmobile ($29.99): Wolverine car with Wolverine, Sabertooth, and hypothetically Deadpool but since we can't have him, Cyclops. X-Jet: Versus Sauron ($49.99): Buildable Sauron and a small, one-seater X-jet with Gambit, Storm, and Rogue. "Venom Mech" ($69.99): Just a giant venom. Comes with some venomized heroes (let's say Cap and Wolverine), Venom, and Anti-Venom suit Spider-Man. And I'm talking fully venomized heroes, not this partially-venomizing stuff. Cap and Wolvie can have alt faces with partial venomization or something but the torsos and helmets should be fully venomized and the legs should be black. Spider-Mech ($129.99): Titan Mech sized Leopardan with Suipadaman, Miles Morales, Spider-Man (symbiote suit), Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew Spider-Woman, Kaine, Scarlet Spider, and Morlun. Hydrabuster ($39.99): Captain America colored Hulkbuster with Red Skull, a Hydra Soldier, Iron Patriot, and the Civil Warrior. Miles Morales accidentally saves himself and his family from being erased from existence by giving a guy a three week old hamburger diorama ($59.99): Miles Morales, Peter Parker, Owen Reese, and about 5-600 white bricks and tiles, as well as a base with the marvel logo and a 2x6 tile with the quote: "How could you forget you have a hamburger?" "We've been busy." "It's a hamburger" -
That's Santa, and we can assume Renny is not him as people don't get dummies in their stockings for Christmas. I wonder how Velociraptor Earth theory works with this statement. The earth, of course, is velociraptor shaped, but if dinosaurs aren't real, how is the earth shaped like one? It's a paradox. Generally I think people drum up a lot of outrage over an old song by changing the interpretation of it, but that line's pretty bad. Even for the time period it seems like it'd have been a crazy thing to put in a song (I mean, I guess a lot of our modern songs have genuinely absurd statements in them but still), so I wonder if it had a different connotation in the time period, like that Batman comic where joker is very interested in making blunders, only he didn't say blunders.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah- they seem like easy, cheap sets to put out. I mean look I just said what I did about clones, but they still are a draw for many people, so throw a new commander in or whatever. Or pair them with V-wings, Jedi Starfighters, etc for a starfighter two pack lego likes so much. EXACTLY. Sure, more new prints are nice, but heads for characters literally meant to be the same guy feels like the most nitpicky nitpick of all time. I'd argue lego's actually been absurdly good about unique clone heads, with every clone we see unhelmeted in TCW coming with one (Rex, Fives, Cody- who doesn't even really have many distinguishing features from a normal clone). I'd much rather any quality improvement go towards... pretty much anything else. More figures/more printing on figures, increasing the quality of light-colored printing on dark-colored parts, not having one out of every 4-5 sets I've bought in the past few years be missing parts, etc. -

So is almost every pilot we've ever gotten They'll get me on this. I'm cloned out but the second the imperial units kick up I'll be right back into the mix. Sure, but on the list of little extra things I'd like to see in sets (I dunno, like major characters coming with hair and helmets (if applicable), more figures in general, etc), "clones having unique faces" is like the very bottom, which I think a lot of people would agree with. -

He wasn't associated with R-rated stuff at the time, all the Creature Commandos will probably be less likely to show up in sets now. -
After the second one, good. I'm not gonna lie I kinda thought you were already the leader of blacktron. You make a good example of being crazy at the end there, this guy believes in dinosaurs? The things created by the Dino Nuggies industry to sell more Dino Nuggies? Brother I was under Konshu's influence I swear, I don't even have the key to that locked box in my cabinet that rattles like lego, do not wick me. Somewhere in the UK there's a classic spaceman in a strait jacket, rocking against the walls going "PART OF THE SHIP, PART OF THE CREW. PART OF THE SHIP, PART OF THE CREW" Big shot Dumbledore putting together a skeleton crew.

I think the konshu thing might actually have started before you joined the forum, in the dc thread (of course). IIRC there was some joke made that the lack of an official Mara is because I've been stealing all the Maras from the factory, and I did a whole moon knight bit off it (given the username and all) where I pretending I was blacking out and waking up in denmark or something. Thanks- I like to write as well, but rarely have the energy to put the effort into my posts here that you do. They'd call my bluff and just release the set without bucky. I don't think anyone was arguing with the "licensed themes have licenses taking out a chunk of the budget" point but moreso that Lyichir came in extremely aggressively and just started insulting the thread out of nowhere. I made kind of a daredevil version of your Assembly Square style idea a few years back- it was Fogwell's on the bottom, Nelson and Murdock in the middle, and Matt's apartment up top. Looked like this: I kind of want to revisit it- I've gotten better in the past few years, and the exterior walls, while accurate to Hell's Kitchen, are pretty plain- there are ways to make the building still be realistically NY without being a grimy tan block. -
I agree Best season. I don't care if they made Jay into sick twisted Evil Jay who thinks Little Ceasers Crazy Bread is Normal Bread. The Roman Empire was awesome. Wish I could be part of it again. Specifically the version from the game who walks super, super slowly and flies around with some sort of melee lightning gun. Battle for the shell. Round two. Fight. UCS Fabulous Jimmy Olsen when?

You're on to something. This'll be confirmed when the 2025 D2C is revealed to actually be Lex's Bakery. Yup. I have no hope. Ironically Jarro is the only one I think we have a real shot at since he'd just be a print on a 1x1 cylinder and could easily be thrown in to the aslume set as an easter egg. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
What was your goal here? What was the thought process behind going on the superhero thread and almost immediately insulting the thread's users? Dreamzz had a good chunk of sets on black Friday discount and pretty frequently hit clearance at just about every show they've gone to. I think they've got some good stuff, but a lot of clunkers too, and the sales seem to back this up. I will give you credit- it is true that themes like Dreamzz have a higher budget for molds due to their unlicensed status. But you took someone's semi-joking comment that's main gist was "lego is getting too expensive and dropping in quality" and decided to attack the entire thread? I feel like a good 50% of your comments are just phrasing what I wanted to say significantly better than I could have. I have come to the conclusion that you are Khonshu, and therefore the one making me psychically steal all the Mara Jade figures from lego's factories when I black out. But seriously, very well said to pretty much all of these. My biggest think is the lack of arm printing on the character known for his special arm. That's just crazy. -

Yeah, exactly. I swear whenever lego makes a clone figure people decide legos should be Hot Toys figures. I'm cloned out. There have been so many clone battle packs. I'm happy for those who want more commanders, but I'm out. -
I assume @Murdoch17 was joking, because yeah, I think it's inarguable that those are christmas movies. They're set during christmas, prominently feature christmas in the plotline, and have themes and messages revolving around christmas. We just have to wait for a third account named "splinter alfred" or something to show up. Have faith. Like in-universe, obviously not, because the nazis don't exist in SW. But out of universe, they absolutely were.

Ladies and gentlemen... we got em. You know, if lego changed how they did "venomization" to limited-release marvel sets done up in black with some tendrils added on and venomized figs, I think the constant venomized inudation wouldn't be as bad. They've already done it a few times, just with weird set choices (venom crawler, venomized baby groot) -

JJJ stays winning. I think this really does bode well for Oscorp soon- sure, it'll be longer before the bugle retires, but it's clearly doing exceptionally well. -

As a kid I liked them in universe- I used to imagine that the technic grey pin was the delivery system and the transparent cone was the explosive- but they worked the worst out of all the LSW shooters. The technic cannon I was a big fan of- anytime a ship is known for having a large cannon/packing a real punch, if a technic cannon can fit inside it, it should be used. It's by far the strongest missile they've had. I also wasn't fully opposed to the six-stud shooters, they just overused them waaay to much when they first came out for a part that had to be integrated into the build a lot more than other ones. (Also, you're never getting that ammo back and they look bad without them... maybe I am fully opposed to the six stud shooters) I do like play features in the ships- they don't have to be all that complex either, I was a big fan of the 2015 Naboo starfighter being able to be refueled. -
That is a hot take - I suppose on some level it's good that the US weren't the only ones with nukes, but the soviets, aside from just being generally one of the worst regimes in history, brought us so close to the end that there were literally moments where a single Russian sub officer voting no was all that prevented nuclear war. The first two home alones are cinematic masterpieces, proceeded by an unknown number of terrible reboots. I'm sure it was, but I don't know that we would actually have just turned around and nuked the soviets if they went "no we actually want all of germany not just half". I doubt we get a Supergirl Mech in 2026 after a Superman mech in 2025, but it would be spectacularly on brand for lego DC to have those be the only non-batman sets. Yeah but I heard since it was a corpse they didn't have to charge Mr. Eternal's estate. We gonna talk about adding multiple cat women to the outsiders? Can't believe Turtle was right all along and Splinter was working with Batman. I'm sure we'd get some sort of tie in for any batman movie not rated R, but I think everything else depends a lot on the Superman movie. I wouldn't be surprised if even if that did well, lego still held off for another movie or two to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It's also darkest before it continues being equally dark.

Honestly at this point, I'd either like a new set of astromech molds at a more accurate size, or for lego to stop pretending they cost as much to produce as a minifigure. Its four basic parts, only two of which are printed. I don't necessarily agree with your wider point on the theme or the way you're phrasing it, but I agree that I'd like to see more bomb chutes and other more unique attacking play features in lego sets. The stud shooters and spring shooters are great add-ons to increase playability on a model to small to integrate other play features or lacking those features in canon, but every non-microfighter Y-wing should have some form of bomb drop feature, for example.
