LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Given that it's a few months after it released, where it was in stock for most if not all of it...meh. It seems to be doing pretty average for a UCS set, which honestly isn't bad at all, since if it sells just about as well that tells lego that prequel UCS should sell fine. Really the only time running out of stock tells you anything is if it's right after a set released, and even then, it's not guaranteed to be accurate. Lego is notoriously hesitant to give information on sales, usually the most we see is their top X number of themes on the report they do. You can tell if a set does REALLY well if it consistently goes out of stock shortly after releasing (such as the new AT-AT), or it does really poorly if it goes on sale quickly after releasing (such as the Queer Eye set or the Vidiyo line), but since those are only a small fraction of sets, it can be hard to tell how well a set does if it isn't an extreme. TLDR we pretty much can't tell but going out of stock a few months after release makes me think it's selling at about the same rate as the standard ucs. Thanks! Yeah, they're pretty good with it. I've gotten 2 parts sent to me from them because the original prints were wrong. -

Just bought it, very excited! My excitement was somewhat dampened by the fact that in my rush to check out I hadn't logged in to my account, and when I input my account info after it prompted me to do so to receive my points (which, that's anywhere between $35 and $70 of lego if I remember correctly, so not insignificant), said there was an error. I contacted customer service so we'll see if I get those points. Ah, I forgot about the brickheadz. It looks very nice, I'm glad they really captured the detail on it. I don't collect brickheadz but in terms of quality it's definately the standout of the wave. I also find it funny that this wave has been accused of being so OT heavy for so long and yet when you look at the rundown it's 3 OT sets that are clearly tying in to a UCS set, a prequel UCS tie-in, a clone wars set, and a mandalorian set -

Just so I have things clear, the january wave is 5 sets right? Hoth AT-ST and 2 battle packs, clone battle pack, and micro razor crest, right? I'm still waiting for the AT-AT to come back in stock and I'm thinking I'll get 2 snowtrooper packs to go with it. Maybe I'll get the hoth rebel pack and replace one of the heads with the classic lego smile face print in light flesh and the mariachi mustache to make the glorious mustache rebel in the 2022 style. -
And this is why I want bionicle to win the fan vote, because it's the last chance. Even if the molds are gone, and the closest we could get would be a brick-built tahu or great spirit robot, the chance to at least get an official bionicle themed set again is very exciting to me. Space, castle, and pirates get shafted by lego, yes, but at least those themes get creator sets, or ideas sets like barracuda bay and the blacksmith shop. Bionicle has had nothing since the failed CCBS reboot, aside from a few scattered references. And now it seems like even CCBS is gone. This is our last chance.

Yeah, I remember they said that, and it felt like an absolute deflection to me. Sure, things may have changed since their force unleashed set, but Mando is much more violent than fallen order. I think lego doesn't really know how to deal with video games. Minecraft is a hit for them, but their mario theme is...odd. I think most people believe that the video game themes should just be standard lego sets based off the games as opposed to that weird mario stuff, and then overwatch apparently didn't do so well for them, and now they're being more cautious than they should. I think overwatch sets failed because (and I haven't played overwatch, so this is just from what a bit of googling of the game shows), they're really just about the characters fighting on the maps and aside from a couple mechs there aren't many actual set-based opportunities. The thing is, mario, Zelda, Metroid, Ultimate, etc all have plenty of iconic locations/vehicles that can be made as sets, and yet lego's too scared to do it. And I think this bleeds into star wars, where there are not only all these set opportunities, but the star wars branding ensures a share of the market that hasn't even played the game just because it's star wars. -

It releases in march, so...yeah. Like @jdubbs said, I'd advise you don't look for leaked set names, lists, etc if having to wait between those leaks and images makes you lose interest. I think we could see a mantis for fallen order 2, the game ended up selling pretty well. Not a fan of the high republic books and comics, but eclipse looks very cool, though I worry it'll be too dark for lego to make sets off. -

Interesting, I could see the commander being telephoned to cody but I'm not sure how Rex got telephoned, that's rough, but I guess if it's a potato quality image it's hard to tell. -

The AT-AT is a system model released first, followed by a UCS model, which is somewhat common The falcon was not only based off a different film, but two years later and there was an over $600 price gap, and likely an outlier considering it's the only time that's happened AFAIK. -

I did that, but got one in the middle of school and didn't have an opportunity to do anything about it until around 5 hours later when it sold out. I asked it to notify me again, hopefully the new stock hits at a different time. Thanks for the impression of the model, it really does sound that good. There's a rash of fake-looking leaks going around that say what the 2022 sets are, how many figs, etc. I'm pretty sure it's just the same guy on alt accounts but I can't trace them far back enough. (They include a republic gunship, $40 geonosis duel, echo base with the contents of the Assault on hoth set, and claim that the new MBS is just the ewok village, which along with the suspicous accounts makes em look pretty fake to me) -

Good to hear, I'm gonna snap it up the second I get my stock notif. Yeah I didn't think the issue was that big either, I just noted it in case every response was "look out for this horrible issue that they'll never ever fix" -

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that. It's a common thing that happens with leaks, is all I meant. This case was certainly a bit fuzzier. My death star sold, fellas!!!! Using that and the christmas-present-to-myself funds I give myself, I should be able to afford the UCS AT-AT when it returns to stock. Is it as good as people say it is, and when will it return to stock? -
General Star Wars Discussion and Questions
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Calling all AT-AT purchasers! My death star sold, and I am now in possession of a large quantity of gold studs, so to speak. I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I want to make sure it's as good as I've heard. (If I don't get this, I'll get the daily bugle, system at-at, and bricklink a system at-te) I know there's some minor issue with a bit of the assembly not being able to be taken apart (which isn't a huge deal to me especially since it sounds like they're working on a patch), do you guys recommend it? -

I haven't bought a marvel set since the iron man mech in january 2020, but if we get a set with Tobey and Andrew, instant buy. As-is, I'm looking at the new iron man $10 mech, and I'm trying to bricklink Shang-Chi and the upgraded suit. -

It's gotta be tough when people take leaker's speculation and rumors as gospel. Some guys get high on it (marvel leaks are a great example), it's nice to see you guys clarify things and not blow smoke. What did happen with rex and cody, by the way? No way lego changed it that late in production, so was it just a game of telephone or did someone get false info? Not trying to minimod but I don't want the thread to get shut down, this stuff belongs in the wishlist thread. (I don't think we'll see the dropship for a long time though, since it's just a more obscure republic gunship in the eyes of children, and the fact that it's a drop feature instead of holding troops makes it less playable and less profitable if it was released separately from a walker) -

Comes with Hoth Luke and Han, K-3PO, Riekan, 2x rebel trooper, and 2x snowtrooper. $139.99: AT-TE with 4x p1 clones, 1x clone captain, Padawan Anakin, Yoda, Count Dooku, and 2x droidika builds. There are side builds of Dooku's speeder and a small area for yoda and dooku to duel in. $159.99: ESB millennium falcon with Black Jacket Han, Jumpsuit Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, Vader, and two snowtroopers. $529.99: MBS Endor: Endor bunker (roughly 2500 pcs with sliding door and interior armory, reactor, command center, and hallway) and ewok village (roughly 2000 pcs with trees extending on each side of the bunker with huts at the top, the trees contain a log smash feature), a ROTJ AT-ST, an ewok glider, and two speeder bikes. Comes with Han, Leia, C-3PO, Chewbacca, R2-D2, Wicket, Chirpa, Logray, Paploo, Teebo, a baby ewok, 4x endor rebels (one looks like rex), 1x imperial commander, 2x imperial officer, 2x imperial navy trooper, 2x stormtrooper, and 3x scout trooper. Also, a look at my progress this week. This one was hard, but I think the shaping turned out nice in the end, if a bit similar to a previous MOC of mine. -

I'm sorry, but this argument is not supported by literally any pattern of data. Lego makes sets without accompanied sets from the same battle/scene all the time. Hell, the A-wing was released in that same with without any accompanying sets either. Does that mean they can't release sets based off the DS2 battle? I didn't know that, that's good. No obstacle to a jabba's palace, then, so it's definately an option on the table. I'm still leaning towards endor, but I'd give it 50-30-20 odds (between endor, jabba's, and something else) with my complete lack of insider info. -

No. It's extremely unlikely we get another prequel UCS that soon. lego will almost certainly wait to see gunship sales before developing a UCS set, and they wouldn't be able to create a full MBS set in the less-than-a-year they'd have left before the release of the 2022 set. -

The thing to remember is that it doesn't necessarily correlate to demand. Lego's primary sales are for children for system sets, and IIRC more middle-aged men for the UCS/MBS sets, and the main demographic on the internet is teens and young adults. Now, I think an AT-TE is likely, and even Pentaki given the gunship goes well, but I cannot see them releasing a system gunship with a UCS one on shelves already. There is good news for pentaki, given that the gunship sales seem to be average for a UCS set, so more prequel D2Cs are possible. It could, I think the biggest issue to is is slave leia, in which case the set can get made if. A: lego grows some blocks (and maybe lucasfilm too depending on the rules within) and is able to release a set with Slave Leia again. (I doubt the "it could vaguely be interpreted as a mosque" thing is an actual factor here since disney's still using the same palace design in the BoBf) B: They just include Boushh as the leia variant. -

Endor MBS seems logical to me, but there's NO WAY we get both an at-te and gunship. AT-TE is possible, but certainly not "bound to be", battlepacks do not necessarily correspond to similar sets releasing the next wave. And getting a system version of a set while the UCS one is still on shelves has I think never happened? They've been times when a UCS version of a set has released while the system one was already on shelves, but a system version of a set coming out while the UCS one is on shelves has almost never, if ever, happened. -

The Dagobah Diorama right? Or is that releasing earlier? Speaking of, when is the Boba set coming out? Obviously we don't know what the 2hy sets are, but at those prices I think an MBS endor is likely. An AT-TE is possible and seems like something that'd show up around this time, but I wouldn't get my hopes up, the same thing happened in 2020 and it ended up being a galaxy's edge set. -

Yeah, most tolerance issues I have are with newer black pins. no idea why. -

Is it the connection between the half ball and half pin, half pin and long bar, or long bar and the end pin hole connector? For any of those, I'm guessing you just got a part with weirdly low tolerance (this has happened to me before with pins). I'd replace the half pin with another from your collection. If you don't have a spare long bar or half ball, lego will send you one for free most likely. -

Legend has it that buying 10,000 sets and using every part to build a shrine to the lego brick will cause Clutch Powers to descend from the heavens and grant you lego-stepping immunity and the lego equivalent to Warren Buffet's Mcdonalds card. Those Immature videos are probably why he got kicked out. Lots of clickbait-y thumbnails and titles, and some pretty juvinile and crass stuff like that fake interview with a lego designer. IIRC he also has a habit of posting screenshots of video comments disagreeing with him on twitter and just being rude to them. -

Yeah I was continuing the joke, I don't actually think the Christainsan bloodline is immune to stepping on legos (or do I?) Yeah, I wasn't gonna say anything because of the comments made to me after I brought it up with the snowtroopers, but the lack of accuracy is a bit annoying. I do like the reddish brown bearded head, definately throwing that on my rebel commando squad. And yeah, I almost wonder if the designers used the blasters for cannon legs with that purpose in mind. Or that people are detached enough from this, and don't 100% believe every leak, that the news that characters they wanted aren't actually appearing a set doesn't break them enough to make excessively angry comments online. -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good list, and while I don't think the whole wave will be AOTC, I think there'll definately be some AOTC sets in the summer 2022 wave. A system gunship, while not likely to release anytime soon due to the UCS one existing, would certainly have a clone pilot. UCS sets, especially ones that aren't figure scale, play looser with figures, but system ships almost always come with pilots. One of the bigger sets on the wishlist I'm working on is an AT-TE, I'll keep that interior in mind when I build it. I'm currently halfway through the A-wing in terms of how far I'm working my way down the list.
