  1. Massive improvement on last year's. You can get almost the entire lineup in just one set! And sure, the sweaters are a little annoying, but that's still rocket, groot, star-lord, mantis, and at the very least Nebula and Drax's heads! I'm happy about green drax head, since it's finally a comics type one, though without the corresponding green torso it's not as helpful. (Plus, he EXPRESSLY told them why he doesn't wear shirts, I can't believe they'd do this knowing the pain he'll suffer from wearing a sweater!)
  2. Agreed. I much prefer when they do minifigure scale little additions and scenary. I think the Guardians and Harry Potter calendars did a better job with having more minifigure scale stuff. That said, Hoth luke is genius. I might get this on sale after christmas, since I somehow lack a clone commander still, and don't have Hoth Luke either, so the figures would be a nice bonus. On the other hand, three of the 6 minifigures (and sure 7 if you count the generic battle droid we always get) are not going to fit into canon situations at all. I thought the ugly sweaters were funny in 2020, but for some reason C-3PO and especially R2's just aren't doing it for me. And vader seems just completely out of place, like @Lobot said. I think the 2021 christmas mando was done nicely, where he was christmas themed, but the torso was still usable in a general SW setting. Obviously it'd be hard to do that for every year's christmas exclusives, but did they have to make half the characters gimmicky? Vader is still the most annoying to me, as he's neither usable in a general SW setting OR winter themed.
  3. Looks awesome! I think you actually might be ok structurally, though I wouldn't do a physical build of this soley based on my structural advice. Legos are surprisingly strong, and those black pylons should be able to keep the higher levels held up from that side. Also, I remembered you said you wanted to compare our scarif citadel towers... I haven't started mine yet, but you won. Mine was gonna be ~1500 pcs.
  4. The sets come out at midnight Aug 1 in my time zone. On July 30, I stayed up until midnight thinking it was July 31st, which is what the post was about. Basically I just got the date of the set release wrong. Again, just ignore it. Definately delayed in the US. Unlike every other Aug 1 set, it just says "coming soon". Very unfortunate, it seemed to be the most popular set of the wave from what I've seen here.
  5. These are fairly common in superhero sets, I thought. I was pretty sure I had these in the Captain America motorcycle set and the older Benatar. Same way they'll include those parts in white for Power Burst sets. There are also gold highlights on the arms, legs, and back. (which assumably would mean gold highlights on the front torso too, which are missing from the figure's torso. That suit is also clearly more armored, as opposed to the cloth-like appearance of this suit, especially the purple area.) I'm not saying that Shuri isn't the main protagonist or that she won't be the new black panther, I'm saying that I'm very sure that her suit in the sets is not the BP suit.
  6. I pre-ordered BD-1, so I thought I'd be spared waiting until midnight anxiously hitting refresh on lego.com, but of course, I forgot to pre-order 10497 and now have to do that exact thing. I wish everyone luck in obtaining any non-pre-orderable sets that might go out of stock tonight! Woooow, I'm dumb. Completely forgot what day it was. Ignore this post.
  7. I keep getting emails telling me my BD-1 pre-order is in warehouse. I've had three in as many days, each time starting by telling me it may be delayed, and that it's also too late to cancel. Was it put in warehouse three days ago, when I got the first email? Is it in warehouse today?
  8. Thank you. I don't get why everyone's saying it is, it's clearly some sort of swimming suit or wetsuit. No armor, no mask, it's not a panther suit unless they've suddenly gone back to the design of the original comics. I knew there were 7 of us! Yeah, I dunno. The sunbird looks better in this image but still like a $40 set. And now that we have a better look at shuri's submarine in the $30 set, that should definately be $20-25. Might bricklink Namor if I like the film, otherwise I think I'll pass on the wave. Oh, and M'Baku. He was the only BP character I really liked besides T'Challa (and of course the mighty Everett Ross). I want him to end up somehow joining the Guardians.
  9. I mean, it depends how you look at the "diversity" element. Either way, there are mainly two cultures (wakandans and atlantians or african/aztec). Even if we mean just straight up ethnicities shown, again, same thing, just this time with Ross added as english. Regardless, I'd argue that's exactly why Ross would be a nice additional figure. He wouldn't necessarily require new prints, and given how many new prints have shown up in these 3 sets already, it'd allow for a figure like M'Baku or namor to get a ton of detailing. Counterpoint, Okoye already has a figure, and I've seen some perfectly good purist customs of her WF outfit. Ross does not. Hey, I said there could be as many as seven! Yeah exactly. With a theme where new prints aren't very common compared to SW, ninjago, etc, it's a nice way to get an extra non-repeat figure.
  10. ...literally every other minifigure in the wave is black, south american, or blue. I do not think including one white guy would be an issue. I didn't know he was gonna be in Secret invasion! He better not be a Skrull. What are the odds? I might have miscalcultated, there could be as many as seven of us!
  11. No, it's hilariously fake. Aside fom the fact that the build includes just a giant LBG block at the bottom, all of the figures in that image were just images of existing figures from as far back as 2012, and it has the same piece count as the bugle (due to the boxart being stolen from it.) There might be dozens of Ant-Fans, but I think I'm one of like 3 Everett Ross fans. I just like the idea of an average joe that the avengers can rely on when they have to deal with bureaucratic stuff.
  12. 100%, Crosshair's shuttle makes so much more sense in every way. You could still even put bane and todo in the set, since they're in the same area as the ship (I mean, they weren't quite in the same scenes IIRC, but still, they're related about as closely as Finn in the TIE Dagger, Jannah in the 2020 x-wing, Obi-wan in the scythe, etc). I still maintain that the 212th battle pack has a fair shot at being an accessory pack. Yeah probably another promo. Either a diorama or a lightsaber, most likely, though of course it could be something totally out of left field. But other than the promo and Razor Crest, I think that's a wrap for 2022.
  13. Hey, guess what... it's $35 But I have the exact same issue, and I think the same thing about the throne's base being too big and complicated when the main interesting part is just the jaw throne itself. Same thing with that $50 one as well.
  14. Doesn't the last set still release in November? If it's before or around the movie, I'm not 100% sure it'll have the new panther. If they want to keep it secret, my guess is that we don't see action figures or lego figures. Like I've said before, the torso print would remove half the candidates, and no doubt the suit would provide other clues as well. Hell, from the shot in the trailer of part of the back of the suit alone people are making pretty solid arguments that it's There was an absolutely METAL plot leak the other day that turned out to be fake, but the leaked trailer alone is just so cool and a much more serious tone than the other films. Not that I didn't like the more comedic ant-man films, but in the trailer when I got chills. I REALLY hope it gets sets.
  15. +10 predictability points if it uses some sort of wakandan technology or vibranium, but still looks almost exactly like the model prime from the comics (maybe colorswapped though). Yeah, but he's green, so I was counting him as a fantasy non human-passing character. I swear that guy's going for the any% geneva convention speedrun. It's like every day we hear about a new crime. They've got to be cutting him at this point, I don't see how they can keep Ezra Miller in while having any semblance of consistency for cutting people from films over much less than, y'know, committing all of the crimes. They should replace him with Grant Gustin. Ah. Well, if they are, then we're never seeing them! Ok, now I am gonna need a classic namor with the green undies.
  16. 1: I don't know exactly which set you're referring to. The three "mystery" sets from a few weeks ago are supposedly brick-built versions of Spidey, Miles, and Venom (yippie...) The $500 mystery set is still unknown. Personally I think it's gonna be a DC set. 2. I'd say there's a solid chance of NWH sets next year, probably not any in 2022 though, we'd have heard SOMETHING by now. As for the Iron Spider...I'm right there with you on wanting one, but I think it's very unlikely that we'll get one anytime soon. Unless they do a set for the doc ock bridge fight (I feel like they're much more likely to make a NWH set for the liberty parlance scene), we probably aren't getting an iron spider. Probably shouldn't be more than a day or two, unless something in the set images is a thing Marvel wants kept secret for longer.
  17. Wait, hold on. What new part? I only see 49668 and 15209 Same, though. I infinitely prefer this Riri design to both her main suits I've seen (the one that was literally just an iron man suit and the more unique, but odd, suit from the start of her post-Tony's return solo series), and while I'd still like a classic Namor, I have to admit the new one is kinda sick. But I don't think I'd spend $35 for that namor, and no WAY I'm spending $50 for a cool version of a character I found unnecessary. (And now we're on a complete tangent, but I really disliked the legacy characters. ITSV made me like Miles a lot, and I like Kamala to the extent you can even call her a legacy character, but I never liked the rest. I suppose Kate Bishop was fun too, but again, unlike many of the others she wasn't a replacement hawkeye, just an apprentice)
  18. It doesn't seem very armored, there's no tooth necklace, and there's no mask/helmet. It's definately not the panther suit we see in the trailer, and doesn't seem like a BP suit at all. If we also assume that being in two of the three revealed sets, this is probably her main outfit in the film, it's definately not the panther suit unless she becomes black panther at the start of the film. And to be fair, how many of those are from lego elves? Because discounting the cat-ear headband type parts, the parts meant for explicitly nonhuman/not human-passing fantasy creatures (goblins, orcs, monkie kids, demons), I've got 9, and if we remove the LOTR elves, just 4: Peter Pan's hat, the wonder twins hair, and the CMF elf hair (Male and female). Even if we use your 34 number, that's 7% of hair pieces, and the 17 headgear is 1.5% of headgear parts. Not to mention that most of the with-ears hair pieces are used on just one figure, as opposed to standard hair parts being used on countless figures. Not saying that Namor shouldn't have ears, I don't know how prominent they'll be in the film, but you can't really act like minifigure ears are all that common, especially for human figures.
  19. I bought the one with Antoc Merrick for what I admit was mainly a "I want an Antoc Merrick figure" reason justified by deciding it would be a nice part pack. It really was, though lots of recent parts at the time, mainly DBG and LBG, and some nice army-building figures (though I remember scrapping Rose and Rowan for parts. Already had a Rose, no reason for any Rowans.) I got the 2021 one thinking more about it being a part pack/army builder and it was so excellent in those regards I almost bought a second one. The figures are excellent army-builders (including a great torso for mando that's got a nice, star-wars-fitting scarf), and again, lots of nice recent parts in both greys. Not sure if the 2022 one will be as useful, given that three figures have pretty goofy torsos, but I might get it anyway for the other figs/parts (I somehow do not yet own a CC). Plus, if you wait until the day after Christmas to buy them, you can find some really nice discounts.
  20. No. The 4+ set is based off the original film, though I could see the confusion there. The other two sets have no BP figures, and Shuri appears to be in a wetsuit of some kind. They seem to imply she'll have a prominent role in the film, but nothing about her being the black panther.
  21. Glad to see this thread is back to some level of activity. Used to feel like I was every other post on it! Here are my guesses, based on two things; The upcoming content of 1hy 2023 (mando s3, ahsoka, jedi: survivor) Previous trends and content. Main hero ship for the solo microfighter. Ship versus creature for the two-pack. Predicted trend towards endor sets. Havoc Marauder ($9.99): Hunter, maybe Tech instead if we're lucky. Wheel Bike vs Boga Microfighter two-pack ($19.99): General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi Speeder Bikes ($34.99): two speeder bikes and some trees with a catapult feature. Comes with Endor Luke and Endor Leia, Wicket, and a Scout Trooper. Mandalorian season 3 set ($64.99): Mando, Grogu, Bo-katan, 1-2 other figures Endor Bunker attack ($99.99): Endor bunker, speeder bike, ewok glider. Comes with 2x stormtrooper, 2x navy trooper, Endor Han, C-3PO, Paploo, and an Endor Trooper. The Mantis ($99.99): Cal Kestis, Greez Ditrius, BD-1, Merrin, Cere Junda, Second Sister, and a Purge Trooper. Ahsoka's Jedi Shuttle ($79.99): Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, C1-1OP, 1 other figure (march) AT-AT driver helmet ($69.99) Clone Trooper Helmet ($69.99): Includes some extra parts to change rank of trooper. I'm also going to guess that the accessory packs are back, and weren't leaked alongside the rest due to their different set numbers: 212th troopers ($14.99): 2x 212th clone trooper, P2 cody. Build is a small crab droid. Endor Rebels ($14.99): 2x endor rebels and an ewok warrior. Build is a small tree and a small catapult.
  22. Yeah, that's what I said, "(or the one exclusive figure in that 2017-2019 era)". Point is, past few years have shown that we're back to Christmas figures, and even if we weren't, the unique figures were already known. The CC is a re-issue, so it's not like we were robbed of a new clone variant, just at most getting the standard P1 CT instead.
  23. They really should have recast from the start. I just saw an article where Mr. Boseman's family was saying they thought he would have wanted to be recast. I really can't understand why they didn't want to recast, it doesn't seem disrespectful to me. Especially when compared to him supposedly Anyway, here are my thoughts on the sets: 4+ set: is a 4+ set. I totally called it that they'd make at least one legacy set to sneak BP into. It's fine, and for $10 to get two of the main characters of the first film, a pretty solid deal. Namor's throne. My guess is this is the best-seller. Main villain, main hero, enemy grunt, and a pretty cool build I'm surprised they would do for a standard 6-12 set, feels more like a SW diorama. (Even if the base of the throne is pretty simple). Main complaint is the price. The image doesn't make super clear how big that sub is, but this really looks like a $25 set, $30 at the most. If I end up liking the movie, this is the set I'd want to get. Also, shout out to Namor's face. I'm generally not a huge fan of how much they've changed him and Atlantis, but even without the vampire style hair, green trunks, and Roman influence (which is the thing that bugs me the most. I always saw Namor as very Roman inspired, and if they wanted to base Atlantis on a real world empire, rome literally went at it with carthage (which is in Africa) so a Rome-based Atlantis being Wakanda's rival would make a lot more sense than an African nation and a south American one), he's still got the facial expression that shows just how much of a pompous jerk Namor is. The big ship: This ain't it chief. The ship is fine, I suppose, but it does NOT seem like a $50 set. The figures are alright as well, though two of the four are repeats. (I get the same shuri in multiple sets since she seems to be the main character, but they couldn't put a different enemy in? Ironheart has always been my least favorite of the "legacy characters" back from when marvel was replacing the main avengers (I liked Miles and Kamala, and that was pretty much it), but I appreciate the attempt to change up her design from "literally an iron man suit" to something more unique. That sounds like a nice deal for the hulkbuster but a pretty big ouch for the $80 set. Do we know if it's black panther 2 for sure, because at that ppp it almost feels like a bigfig would be included.
  24. I'd prefer a normal p1 clone in the battle pack, but you can't expect a new (non Christmas) clone figure in the advent calendar. Aside from the Christmas figures (or the one exclusive figure in that 2017-2019 era), it's re-issues of existing figures from recent sets. That's how it's been since these started, and why many people use these as part/figure packs. And before someone mentions this year's vader, he is the exception that proves the rule, and still a silly non-canon variant.
  25. like I said So my guess/hope is that the accessory packs are back (Not a fan of only 3 figs, but I prefer it to $20 for 4. Still at $5 a fig, but the accessory packs both had pretty solid builds compared to battle packs), and that the $19.99 one is either a micros two-pack or a new duel set.
