  1. I don't know that Superman Legacy sets are a guarantee, nor any non-batman movie. Their MCU sets aren't all doing great, so I'm not sure lego's eager to throw tie-in sets on for a franchise that's really been struggling movie-wise. dcEU movie. I'd legitimately put dark knight in the conversation for the top 10 movies of all time.
  2. Yeah, if we get a marvel series 3 it'll be 2025. I at least understand the "lego won't/shouldn't put nazis/soviets in sets" even if we've had soviet and nazi soldiers in lego-the nazis as recently as 2023. Those were probably the worst two major powers in the past hundred years, and people are alive today who have lost loved ones to those regimes. But spanish conquistadors? Really? They're hundreds of years old, and weren't some especially evil or barbaric force like the nazis or soviets. If lego's comfortable putting a nazi pilot in an indiana jones set in 2023, they're comfortable putting a conquistador in a marvel set, seeing as they made one back in 2012 in a CMF. Their brand values are against making modern military forces. If current lego is comfortable with WW2 being far enough in the past, they're certainly comfortable with spanish conquistadors from hundreds of years ago.
  3. [the maker] Almost certainly, but... hypothetically speaking, he never specified TPM maul. All Falconfan's claiming is that a maul figure is coming at some point, not as an anniversary fig, and it's likely not rebels maul. Now granted, it's almost certainly TPM Maul, but then I don't get to be pedantic OR start taking Malachor set copium, and that's no fun. They can really throw maul into a number of sets, so long as he was around the item- a Naboo Fighter (and vulture droid?), a Nemolodian Core Ship, the Naboo Royal Starship (which I mantain we won't see), etc. It's really just confirmation another TPM set is on it's way. Maul's the main villain of TPM, I think anyone could guess he'd probably show up this summer once the AAT polybag leaked with the TPM logo on it.
  4. You are spot-on about Monkey kid being made for China- IIRC it's become lego store exclusive in the west, but that's about all you've gotten correct here. (Ninjago is definitely not made for china or relevant at all to asian culture beyond the word ninja being part of the title- the theme reads like an 8 year old's fever dream. Mechs, race cars, dragons-and not asian styled dragons at that-colorful heroes, ninja, robots, etc) This isn't remotely how lego distributes themes. They have many different designers who tend to work on different themes. The existence of other themes does nothing to impact Indy unless it's covering the same general niche, like Adventurers would. Monkie Kid, Ninjago, and Dreams are nothing like Indy. There is no worry about competing with Indy sets, and their existence does nothing to alter the chances of getting indy sets. Space also really has nothing to do with the odds of getting Indy sets either. It's a new way of doing a "theme" in that it reaches across multiple existing themes, but they're all unlicensed. Lego can't put the space triangle on, for instance, a star wars set. We're not gonna have an "adventurers" version of this that involves Indy sets.
  5. A good way to gauge demand among kids is to look at the other merch companies. Not so much funko, but we see plenty of comic based action figures, whether it's the more quality stuff like hasbro legends, cross-product pushes like the mech strike merchandise, or weird gimmicks like those flexible guys I keep seeing at discount stores. Age 6-12 kids generally care more about the character than the source material- they want Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther, but they don't care as much if it's the Mk50 or Model 64, the PS4 classic suit or Raimi SM2 suit, the kinetic suit from BP1 or the "cold suit" I saw at Ollie's a few weeks ago, etc. If lego marvel stuck to the characters people cared about, I think a comic-based wave could do pretty well.
  6. I really don't see how this leads to an A-Force series by any stretch of the imagination. This is the director stating what the affect of captain carter would be on the world. I don't see how you take this as him even HINTING at an A-force series. He doesn't mention A-force, hint at us seeing those female heroes again (I mean, we're sure to see captain carter again anyway, but they didn't go the a-force direction with how the season'll play out, and I assume season 3 is gonna have her in a civil war adaption.), or even put any emphasis on superheroes. I think the bit about the strike team makes it pretty clear he was just talking about how captain carter changed the worldbuilding for that episode and how they essentially put in more female background characters in shield. The ratio of active female to male heroes here seems pretty consistent with the current MCU. It happening slightly earlier in the timeline is if anything a hindrance, since the multiverse saga has so many heroes around it's easier for a woman-only team to make sense than here, where you've still got Tony and Thor being if anything MORE important to the avengers due to no Hulk.
  7. I wasn't counting '97 as MCU but I guess it is made by marvel studios. Friendly Neighborhood has had an extremely troubled production. Some pretty disgruntled workers, having future seasons cancelled/the potential for more seasons removed before the first released, the obligatory neverending delays- and these were between covid and the strike, so while I'm sure the strike further delayed it, it's not the only thing to blame- being removed from the MCU proper into a seperate universe, etc. The project's seemed dead in the water for some time, and while it sounds like enough of it has been finished that a season 1 might eventually get plopped out onto disney+, it's clearly not something marvel studios is proud of. I don't think we'll get Marvel Zombies at all. I might be off, but I remember a few of the more reliable leakers having said over the past year or two since it's announcement that it wasn't seeming like it would reach fruition. That said, I've literally never heard of eyes of wakanda before this, so clearly I'm not as caught up on marvel news as I thought I was.
  8. This doesn't change the fact that they DO put those figures in sets, just not labeled as such. They did it with the original line and they did it with the reboot this past year. I don't understand why we're arguing whether or not lego would do it when they literally did so in the most recent wave of sets for the theme. He doesn't mean it's legally unable to come back or anything... but seriously, dude. If it's gone for 10-15 years, for the time being, it's over. Also they don't really put themes "on hold". They're getting sets or they're gone. Doesn't mean they can't revive em- bionicle came back 5 years after it's death, and there are rumblings it'll return once more in 2025 after 8 years. Indy itself returned after what, 14 years? But that doesn't change the fact that for the time being, the theme is functionally gone. TLDR, for what feels like every comment I've left on this thread- They have already produced lego nazi figures in both iterations of this theme, just not labeled as such. There is no reason to argue whether or not they would- they HAVE. The theme is gone. There's no reason to argue semantics over whether it'll return with a reboot of the franchise, or 5 years from now, or 10 years from now. It is over for the foreseeable future.
  9. The rebels inqs are all great, and as we haven't had Seventh Sister yet and 8th brother is pretty easy to make (first order techie helmet on a standard inquisitor body with azure hands), seventh sister would be possibly the best choice from rebels (though i'd like Rebel Kallus and S4 Ezra at some point as well). It'd be cool if they re-made the old maiden hat from castle, as it's pretty much exactly what her helmet looks like, and I don't think any existing pieces would work. A black base with clear bricks leading up to catwalks, like the Luke Vs Vader set that unofficially started the diorama line. Throw the big hole in there somewhere- I think you can do it with the corner curved wall pieces, but I think it'd still only be half of it. My guess would be we have the laser gate area on the left side- maybe 2-3 gates, then a catwalk leading to the reactor hole on the right side, maybe with some other small catwalks placed around on clear bricks. The hole is facing the front and only a semicircle. This allows for a few scenes- the laser gate, Qui-gon's death, maul's death, and "train the boy".
  10. I'd take a stormtrooper with different armor/colors who's functionally the same as a standard trooper over a toy that's poorly added into the plot any day. And this is coming from a guy who likes the ewoks. Reason being, they worked in the plot. Something the empire wouldn't consider a threat or worth their time that ended up being an asset to the rebels. (Though their characterization change to bloodthirsty human-eaters who have been confirmed multiple times now to have consumed imperial troops doesn't hurt either, and adds to the whole "more than meets the eye" thing they've got goin on). Lola is a weird toy that, despite having some level of autonomy and ability, her kidnappers allow her to keep. Though a 10 year old girl managed to evade those kidnappers just by running away for much longer than they should have... and this is the same show where "No, officer, this suspicous large lump extending from my stomach to my feet isn't an escaping child" works on an entire hanger of the empire's finest. That's nice- always good to see the figs from more expensive sets show up in these, even if it's across the pond.
  11. I also hope it'd be smaller, though Lego does tend to make mechs and bikes really oversized. Most Hulkbusters, Iron Monger, etc. While they do like captain carter a LOT (Seriously, I don't understand why she's spearheading so much of these- I felt like strange supreme, the 80s avengers, etc are much more interesting), i don't think they're necessarily ramping up to a show in that universe. Especially considering the other two MCU animated shows are dead in the water (even though one is finished?).
  12. I don't know why we're hashing this out again- again, guys, lego actively made a nazi pilot fig this year for the plane chase set. They're clearly ok with it, they just don't label them as nazis on the box.
  13. I think he's just doing it as a fun thing for the show, not from an actual belief that we need a set for each episode of what if S2 in the 2024 2HY lineup. That said, I agree with you in general- I'd much rather have infinity saga sets than sets based on the multiverse saga. Of course, the infinity saga's been pretty well-covered and to be honest what I'd want most are comic/"evergreen"-based sets for the avengers/midnight sons/X-men.
  14. Was the version (before you modified it) supposed to fit inside the spider-tank? I don't own the set, but looking at it, I don't think this guy can fit without some major design changes (I'm assuming you want the cannon lowered enough that you can't see this guy under it?) His hips are pretty wide for the 2-wide part of the space, as are the arms, and the spines prevent you from sort of shoving him in vertically. (Not to mention, this entire build is pretty delicate. This thing's gonna come apart every time you try to fit it inside/take it out) If I were you, I'd just go with the canon version. If you're worried about display- people can't see the head inside, so you could just have the entire build off to the side. Maybe make a cage for mando by it!
  15. Merry Christmas! $15 fella is probably a mech, though we have been getting a few nice small sets, so maybe we will actually get something nice. The X-mansion D2C could easily be november, though. Seeing as the advent isn't here and some are saying this isn't the full list, I don't think we have anything to worry about.
  16. It would be a ton of fun to unbox different parts of the hulkbuster each day, I'm not even joking. Obviously it would be smaller than the mainline ones (and therefore more accurate) but a little hulkbuster about 2/3 the size of the $15 mechs could be a lot of fun. I can't believe we didn't get this last year.
  17. If it get us a decently priced Iron Legion soldier, I'm all for it. There were a couple years there where the Iron Legion fig was one of the more expensive suits, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Still, though, it'd be an excellent setting for the Advent Calendar.
  18. @JeanGreyForever, @Legocentrico, and @CF Mitch I am hoping it wasn't a typo. A good part of me wants to go back and see if it's still there (which isn't a gurantee. I'm pretty sure the reason they put the january sets out is because they were out of 2022/2023 stock and the christmas rush was still on), but I'm also not sure I'd want to pay even $60 for it. If I've got to go back for another reason, I'll get an employee to price-check the set though. I built the sandman set last night and it's pretty good. Sandman himself looks great bursting out the top of the tower, and I used the leftover base and figures from combining it to make a smaller display- didn't really rebuild much, just took the modules and figs repeated between the sets and kept the yellow tower with the smaller base-
  19. I think we can pretty definitively state that lego's ok having them in sets so long as they aren't labeled as such, seeing as we got a nazi pilot in the plane chase set this year. Willow was never as relevant as Indy, but you're right overall. Lucasfilm even dropped that book adaption they bought the film rights to. They're sticking to star wars for the time being But therein lies the issue- Indy isn't "something new", and Indy without Harrison Ford is a pretty big risk, seeing as it flopped even WITH him this year.
  20. I agree that neither of these are ideal, especially in comparison to ARC Fives and Darth Malak. To start off with two pretty heavily requested characters and then follow up with two pretty boring variants of common characters is really tough. Maul isn't as bad to me, though I think that's mainly because he's amazing in comparison to young Leia. He's at least a character that was really interesting in the show his outfit's from, even if the figure itself won't be all that different from what we've had before. Young Leia is not only a pretty boring character (human child in pretty "normal" clothes), but it's not like she's an incredibly interesting character at that point in time. And if anyone tries to say she's a good choice because we might get a molded Lola... first of all, Lola's TINY. She at best should be a 1x1 round tile with a print. But more importantly, I hate Lola with a burning passion. She's everything wrong with star wars merchandising. I was at Ross (a bargain/discount outlet. They unfortunately do not have legos, because those never hit discounts that bad) today, and the only star wars toy they had more than one of was Lola, which was filling the table of toys they had. (They also had a couple Black Series endor dress leias, but like... I could have told hasbro that'd happen, why not Endor Leia's combat outfit?)
  21. I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to accuse legoturtle of, but connecting someone's desire to have the main villains of the franchise in sets to whatever you're trying to imply is pretty gross. It's one of the things people don't often remember about hitler- the dude legitimately believed that the sort of things the nazis were after in indiana jones were real. They also (alongside the soviets) work well as indy villains for him to kill because... well, who else? If he's just fighting rival archeologists, that's all well and good for a race-to-get-it-first sort of thing, but you can't exactly have him drop professor blinglesmaldish for wanting to collect the treasure himself. If he's fighting the natives/originals owners of the artifact, it gets a little dicey in the "indiana jones is our protagonist" department. But you're not gonna have many people angry at him for shooting nazis or commies. Yup, it's become pretty clear that if we ever do get more sets- likely a few years out at minimum, and if we get any, it'll be under icons- they'll be based off the originals trilogy (and even then, maybe not even ToD)
  22. IMPORTANT NEWS! I was at my local target today and they had the january wave! I picked up the war machine mech and NWH set. (Haven't built the NWH set but I'll give my thoughts on the mech in a second). The big thing, though, is target had the X-jet listed for $60, not $85. Now, I didn't buy it, so I don't know if they just typed the wrong price on the shelf or something (Number was right though), or if they're actually selling it for $60, but that's... better. The set should be $50, but in 2023, $60 isn't as maniacal as the $85 lego's trying on their site. My thoughts on the WM mech: Figure is solid, good colors, and it does look bulkier than my 2022 iron man mech to the extent I could see it being worth $15 in 2024. I don't know if this is new for this wave, but they have the 1x2 plate with a ball joint on either end, which is a part I've been waiting for since they started using mixel joints. My biggest criticism is that set of pre-bent limbs. The legs are Ok, but the arms have ONE POINT OF ARTICULATION EACH. That is absurd. I can take the pre-bent elbows, but no wrists? The minifigure has more arm articulation than this guy. And the articulation for them is actually pretty limited even at that one point given how they did the shoulders. This isn't just a "I can't pose it well" issue, this feels like it would significantly impact kids playing. He can't really aim the repulsors on his palms, etc. Not to mention the shoulder cannon has no articulation, which it really should have.
  23. Are they? Rebels maul is fairly cool, but Young Leia? There's nothing interesting about her, and while the actress did about as well as you can expect an 8 year old or so to do, she wasn't exactly universally praised in the show. Cal Kestis would be AWESOME. I feel like the best options would be Krrsantan, Cal (survivor), Tech (S2) or republic crosshair, Saw, and... gee, I don't know. A new Range Trooper? Dryden?, but given we're getting Young Leia, I'd more realistically expect it to be Mod (the one that does the spin), Cere (bald), Cid, Galen (farming outfit), and... Dryden I guess. Please let me go to your universe where live action KOTOR exists. I was at target today (last minute christmas presents), and they had the january sets on shelves already. The clones and droids pack had it's number listed but someone already got to all of them :(. The young jedi adventures set still had all copies on shelves, on the other hand. I expect this to be what it looks like when I go hunting for that pack on the first.
  24. Rebels maul will be interesting at least, I wonder what set he comes in. That does make me wonder what was going on with that stream though, as Leia did NOT fit all of the criteria.
  25. I never liked this idea, personally. Star Wars, for instance, can be immortal because it's more about the world than any specific character. Indiana Jones is a pretty standard world aside from, well, Indiana Jones. And Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones. I don't think you can have one without the other, nor do I think they should try. (Though they will.... I gurantee you we're less than a decade out from a reboot) Just make an original adventure movie. I dunno if it was just the release, I saw PLENTY of marketing. People who hadn't seen the first four were asking me if they should go see it. I think the movie itself just wasn't as good as people were expecting. No. First of all, a working ornithopter as an official set is incredible (and what were you expecting the set to be, if your issue is that it's one vehicle? Did you want multiple, worse ornithopters? The much less iconic larger ships?). Second, Dune really skirts the edge of what lego can do maturity wise. While the movie skirts around some of the sexual references regarding the baron's interests, it's still a much darker and more mature film than your average marvel or star wars movie. And maybe a bigger difference than that, it's not a fun action or adventure movie. Dune is a tragedy. And when people are killed, it's generally not blasters or lightsabers. It's knives. I'm pleasantly surprised we managed to get even an icons set. Yes, they were both terrible groups. No one is disputing that. (I mean... no one here, anyway. I've met a good number of people who deluded themselves into disputing the latter group and I know there are some who somehow dispute the former). But I don't think there's anything wrong with them showing up as villains in animated shows (Obviously not preschooler shows, but you get the point).
