  1. Last week, I visited the store in Cologne and they apparently had just filled the wall with a variety of useful bricks in green. I filled a large cup with a handful each of these:
  2. I don't tend to buy very much at the stores apart from the occasional PAB cup. If I have accumulated enough points to redeem them I usually do so with the next purchase.
  3. The Laketown set is disappointing, but the other two sets I like quite a bit! The one thing I had hoped for in the Battle of the Five Armies set is dwarven ram riders like we have seen in the movie teaser. But it seems we're getting a new dwarven helmet which is awesome. Too bad there's only one helmet in this big set. Witch-king Battles looks good, too. Nice selection of useful pieces plus three minifigs I want to have for my collection!
  4. This rocks so much! I'm not a huge Batman fan or anything but this sets looks just great and reminds me a bit of the 8880 Super Car I sold before my Dark Ages. Very excited about this release!
  5. This is my latest haul, a big cup from the store in Hamburg:
  6. If I remember correctly, this only applies to the Legoland Discovery Centers, not the Legoland franchise locations in general.
  7. One of the local stores had a 50% off sale on some of the older Star Wars sets, so I bought a bunch of sets I have wanted to get my hands on for some time: Jabba's Palace, Rancor Pit, Jabba's Sail Barge, 2 A-Wings and 1 Republic Troopers vs. Sith Troopers.
  8. So far I have kept all my Star Wars and Hobbit boxes in case I want to sell the sets at some point. But storage space is a big issue for me, so these themes is where i usually draw the line, the rest gets thrown away.
  9. Hi, I am looking for the last three dwarves from the first wave of Hobbit sets I'm still missing. That would be Dori, Nori and Ori from 79010. I myself have spares of Bofur, Bombur, Bilbo, Gandalf and Dwalin from 79003 as well as some popular Collectable Minifigs still in their packaging: gladiators and dwarves from Series 5, elves and samurais from Series 3, roman soldiers from Series 6 and some hoplites from Series 1 (most of these were opened to check the contents and then taped shut again but the minifigs were never removed from the packaging). Furthermore, I have a few polybags 30005 with the Stormtrooper on Imperial speeder bike. If you have the aforementioned dwarves and see something on my list that you are interested in, just make an offer!
  10. Couldn't they wait a little while longer with a new big release? I still haven't gotten around to buy the Ewok Village set and there are still some other regular sets on my purchase list. The set looks fantastic! I was still crawling through my Dark Ages when the first iteration of this vehicle was around and I'm always a sucker for new shiny minifigs, so I'll certainly get this one! :) May is perfect, I could just order this bad boy for the May the 4th event and have it here on my birthday!
  11. That's some great parts usage, Fabz! The Dino tails give the ship a great organic shape. I would never have had the idea to incorporate these parts in this way. The only part that doesn't really fit here is the Tie cockpit window, imho. The ship looks really sleek and the window somewhat disrupts the flow of the build. Also, I really like the pilot. I don't recognize the headdress, is that maybe from the mummy theme a few years ago?
  12. Thanks for the great review, Pandora! So far I haven't bought a single set from the Friends theme, but I've walked by those little animal sets a couple of times wondering if I should get a few of those for the pieces. Maybe I'll do just that when this new wave hits the stores. They are just so wonderfully colourful and I'm sure some use can be found for the cute little animals.
  13. This is my latest haul, one cup from Köln and another one from Oberhausen: I was actually hoping for the 5x6 plant leaves and would have bought 2 cups with those alone, but no luck. Still, some cool pieces. I'm all set with 1x1 round tiles in light bley and the 1x1 bricks with studs all around in black were a nice find, too.
  14. That's a wonderful build, mpoh98! The rock techniques are very well executed and I really like the look of those watchtowers.
  15. Thanks for the review, xowainx! The minifigs look really nice, I think I'll buy some sets to reinforce my small clone army. While the droid build doesn't excite me overmuch, at least the parts seem to be useful for other builds. Sadly, I haven't seen the new spring wave sets popping up around here, though I saw some in the LEGO stores I visited around christmas. Star Wars wasn't really my priority at that point, so I didn't pay too much attention.
  16. Thanks for the review, Cyberbricker! I agree with the opinions about the scout helmets, but apart from that the minifigs look great. I am a little concerned about the growing discrepancy between the details on minifigs and the detailing of the accompanying sets, though. The weapons platform seems to be a nice little build, but unfortunately looks bland compared to the intricately printed minifigs.
  17. Unfortunately, the sets are as unimaginative and boring as the trailer. Honestly, I was so in love with the first movie and the firvst wave of LEGO sets and was hoping for two equally amazing sequels. Now I really don't know if I should even bother watching the second part. The trailers are full of (imho) unnecessary battle scenes and elven teenie romance and the LEGO sets are wall segments and orcs, some more orcs and on top of that, orcs. And yeah, Beorn from X-Men. I'll pass on this wave...
  18. Very nice MOC! The dragon build is particularly well done and I like your choice of colours. The blue-green dragon in those desert-like surroundings makes for a great contrast. Do you have any more pictures of your army?
  19. These look great, well done! I always thought the Forestman from Minifig series 1 looked like Cary Elwes as Robin Hood. But you're still missing Mel Brooks as the rabbi.
  20. Honestly, this set is a bit disappointing to me. I have the same problem with the style of this set that I have with the trailer for "The Desolation of Smaug" - it just doesn't feel like "The Hobbit". While I really enjoyed the first movie (sans the Pale Orc stuff), the trilogy seems to continue in a way that runs in a copletely different way than I expected it to. The new minifigs look way too colourful for my taste and while the buildings look fine, the set in it's entirety looks pretty bland. I hope I enjoy the rest of this wave more.
  21. Wow, those are all pretty amazing! I think I will hoard tons of the gingerbread man and a few elves just to do some crazy christmas builds! The tiki warrior is my second favourite so far.
  22. While the walker looks nice, the most interesting part about this set for me are the Wookie and Gree minifigs, those look spectacular! I don't know if I'll purchase it, but the set makes me more excited for the other 2014 releases!
  23. That's certainly an excellent and extensive review, Rufus, thanks for the effort! I really like this set and will surely pick one or two (or three ) up on my next LEGO store visit. Yes, the build isn't perfect, but I think thats owing to the scale of the model. The comparison of the official model and the CUUSOO submission was very enlightening and in my opinion shows that LEGO has done a terrific job optimizing the car. The original, while being a great model, is just a tad too clunky while the official set has the perfect balance of showing the proportions of a Delorean and still being minifig-compatible. The spelling error on the printed brick is a shame but who knows: maybe LEGO will correct the error and the early sets will become more valuable with time
  24. Not really excited about those sets, to be completely honest. I bought the first Minecraft set without ever having played the game because I loved the build and the box design, but it is still sitting unopened on my shelf. To me the idea of combining LEGO and MInecraft was great, but I can't really see the appeal of doing a whole line of these sets.
  25. Looks like it's gonna be a great set! I don't have any problems with the hood construction, all in all the car looks just fine to me. I'll surely pick one of these sets up next time I visit a LEGO store!
