  1. It came out in June 2018, so December 2020 would be 2 1/2 years. The Ferris Wheel ran from June 2015-December 2018 (3 1/2 years). Carousel ran from June 2017-December 2019 (2 1/2 years). I think there's a high risk of it retiring this year, and if not this year then almost definitely in 2021.
  2. Tree of Creativity and the Lego House Dinosaurs will be on sale only in UK, Ireland, and Denmark, unfortunately. Lego House itself will be on sale worldwide, so I assume they have significantly more copies of it. Maybe that means it won't run out TOO quickly, and many people who want one can get it--myself included, of course! :)
  3. FWIW, the Creator Expert Roller Coaster is expected to retire this year, so I don't think that sets would keep another roller coaster from being made. This one is MUCH smaller also, so they might consider it a good mid-level set for people who want a coaster a little bigger than the pirate coaster 3-in-1 set. Whether it will "work" is hard to tell just from these pictures. I suspect it stalls out in the mine because it probably loses speed going around the bend that's blocked from our view. It probably needs to start a little higher. But maybe not?
  4. We know the factory in China only had a minor effect from covid-19, but I suspect the factories in Europe have had a bigger impact. And the distribution process has definitely been slowed everywhere. Of course, there's also very likely a big surge in buying, as people are looking for new ways to stay entertained. I doubt the sets that are temporarily out of stock will have been effectively retired a full 8 months early. But... if there were unique parts that they had stopped producing and now run out of earlier than planned, they've got some hard decisions about which ones they're willing to re-run just to replenish supplies of sets that they'd planned to retire. Certain sets, like 75192 aren't likely a problem for them. Worst case is they'll just make more parts and bump back its retirement a little. Even if they had a replacement set lined up, they can always just delay the release of that one a little while longer. But that one might be in a limited category as far as that goes because it's such an iconic set.
  5. Is that going to become the HP equivalent to the UCS Jar Jar Binks Bust?
  6. Can't be a 1x1. Look at the tan 1x1 plate between the two lower down bricks you're talking about. If those are 1x1 bricks, that tan plate would have to be 1/2x1, which obviously isn't possible. I can highlight where I'm talking about if you need, but I think you'll see it from this description. Edit: Typo on 1x1 plate. Originally said 1x2.
  7. Thanks! That's what I was afraid of! Longest space I could put this right now is ~44" long, and even that requires taking apart some other sets. I guess I do have one spot that's ~60" long, but it's loaded with other things that don't fit elsewhere very well... hmm.. I'll just have to go with a split display, I'm afraid! EDIT: Now time to take suggestions on how best to stagger or layer these sets on 1 or 2 shelves that are wide enough for 3 of the big sets...
  8. I was another one a little worried by the lack of stock anywhere for the Great Hall for a few weeks now. I'm not sure its inclusion in the box art necessarily suggests that set will be around for a while though. Lots of people already have the set, so of course they want to show how amazing this new set looks next to it! "The Great Hall is wonderful, but see why you should buy this other set too!" I think it should stay around for a while because, as someone said, it's like the Millennium Falcon of Harry Potter. It's key to nearly every one of the books and movies. FWIW, I did a chat with customer service today. They don't have a date for more stock of the Great Hall in the US, but it is not on any retirement lists. They fully expect more stock eventually.
  9. About how long from end to end would this display be? I'm guessing it would require a VERY long shelf or table? My eyes apparently aren't great. Green is the Great Hall, Blue is the Whomping Willow, Purple is the Astronomy Tower and greenhouses, and Red is the Clocktower?
  10. But @Kit Figsto, Don’t licensed sets usually leak much closer to release than non-licensed ones?
  11. Would Lego want things coming out during the May 1-4 Star Wars promos? If it's coming in the next 2 weekends, I would guess this upcoming one, April 24-26.
  12. Uggg.. Y'all are probably right, but it's ridiculous! It doesn't look like a mosque at all, but then again, I still remember the Detroit paper's editorial talking about how obvious Lucas's racism toward Latino farm workers was in Attack of the Clones. Apparently the writer didn't know that the actor who played Jango is Maori, not Latino. Whoops! The movie is what it is. Jabba's Palace looks like it looks (not a mosque), and Leia worn that outfit. Do that many people actually complain about either of them in the context of the movie? I certainly don't hear anything like what is justifiably said about the Siamese cats in Lady and the Tramp or the crows in Dumbo.
  13. A UCS Gonk Droid would be my first choice, but only if it's to scale with the recent BB-8. Next choice would be a life-size Jar-Jar bust, with articulating (i.e. flappy) ears. But seriously, they really need to do new Jabba stuff. His palace, the Rancor, and the main sail barge are all extremely iconic. They had the nice skiff set last year (?), but I still need a Lando in disguise minifig, some Gamorean guards, etc.! Lando in disguise was my favorite of all the Kenner action figures. I'm not sure they'd try their luck with a "MBS" or MBS-like set again, but maybe just have 2-3 large sets in a single wave, or within a single year's waves anyway.
  14. Same for me with Assembly Square, Diner, Roller Coaster and a couple other sets I want before they retire. It does say "Temporarily Out of Stock" for a LOT of sets right now. I'm guessing it's just a matter of the factories and distribution being slowed down. If they've made the parts, they'll want to package up the sets and get them sold eventually. Hopefully that will speed up in a few weeks and there will still be plenty of Assembly Square and others for Black Friday.
  15. Thanks @Guyon2002 and @sammy_zammy ! I figured I was probably ok, but I've had a couple sets disappear sooner than I was prepared for in my last 3 years out of a >15-year long dark age! :) I'll try to look back through the discussion from last week, but you should forgive me for missing it. This thread gets going like a runaway freight train, and it's impossible to keep up with every part of the conversation. I'd been mostly focused on catching new hints of the upcoming sets and been skimming the rest. Clearly my mistake! I would think Lego would be smart to keep the Great Hall around possibly even 3 years because it's such an important building and it's by far the most logical starting point for people to add the other Hogwarts builds like Whomping Willow, Clock Tower and upcoming Astronomy Tower. It's also an incredibly good entry point for getting a good variety of important minifigs. Really looking forward to the 2020 sets that are rumored. Not looking forward to my wallet being hit so hard! Gonna probably have to ask for the big Diagon Alley for Christmas so it doesn't eat into my own Lego budget. As for my Assembly Square comment, I meant this early in the year. I've been able to get the last few retiring modulars at good discount on Black Friday from S@H and/or Walmart. I had planned to do that again with Assembly Square, but might have to just bite the bullet and pay full price when it's back in stock and with the first decent GWP or Double VIP.
  16. Not a 2020 set, but I'm starting to worry that I've missed the couple of very short windows to get the 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall at a discount. I assume it's going to retire this year, and now suspect that a lot of sets are going to be out of stock much earlier than normal for retiring sets because of the weird distribution issues and surge in set buying thanks to covid-19. It's been out of stock everywhere in the US for at least 2-3 weeks now. I'm hoping maybe it's such a popular set, and that Lego considers it so integral to the line that they make sure it's around and in stock in a little longer. Thankfully the Great Hall is the only 2018 set I don't have yet. I'm in good shape on the 2019 sets, needing just Hagrid's Hut and the Clock Tower. Anybody with an inside scoop on future restocks, retirement expectations, etc.? I assume all of the 2018 sets that haven't retired yet will in 2020? But will the Great Hall be restocked most places, or is it likely already done for? I'm worrying over nothing, probably, right? The other sets I'm a little worried about are some Ideas sets and the Roller Coaster. I still need Assembly Square also, but I can't imagine that one being done already. Yes, I can't help it, I'm constantly behind a year! It usually works out ok though because I get many of my large sets on discount on May 4 and Black Friday! :)
  17. "Mistakes" isn't necessarily the right word. "Omissions" is more accurate. But I understand some of his criticisms. It's a nice looking book, and it has a TON of information. I'm sure I'll enjoy thumbing through it when my copy eventually arrives. I had preordered from Amazon a while back. Says it has shipped and will arrive 4/14-4/15? Yikes! Not that I care. It's a frivolous book purchase. I'm glad they're prioritizing other shipments.
  18. Oh no! Two of my main hobby worlds are colliding with this debate on football vs. soccer. I will say two things on this and then move on to the Lego discussion: 1) Football isn't a reference to playing the ball with your feet. It's a reference to playing on your feet, rather than on horseback. The term dates back to versions of the sport that still allowed players to carry the ball with their hands. The sport was split, within England, into different rule variations that ultimately evolved into what are now referred to (mostly) as "association football" and "Rugby football". 2) Even accounting for similar words like futbol, voetball, etc., soccer isn't the only outlier. Italians, who certainly know and care a lot about the sport, call it calcio. Croats, Bosnians, and Slovenes often call it nogomet. Even in England, "soccer" a slang variant of "association" was a completely accepted and frequently-used word for the sport until at least the 1960s. OK, so onto the Lego stuff... I think the set looks great. Based on the more detailed photos, I like the size. It's a a good compromise between scale and detail. Anything smaller would have made the roof supports very crude. Manchester United is not my team, so I doubt I will get this set. Now... if they'd make a similar-scale model of Mercedes-Benz Stadium with functional roof... https://www.archdaily.com/876888/aperture-style-retractable-roof-at-atlantas-mercedes-benz-stadium-closes-for-the-first-time
  19. Wasn't meaning to be rude at all. I was just marveling at the thought of a Minifigure scale football stadium!
  20. How massive of a set would you want? Anything even remotely reasonably scaled would have a pitch that's several baseplates before you even started with the stands. True scale, based on 1:42 that a mini figure is to an average human, you'd have a pitch that's a little under 10 baseplates long.
  21. The Winter Village line usually lasts 2 years. If I had to guess, Gingerbread House will be retired Dec 2021. Thats no guarantee, but I do think I can guarantee you’ll have a chance to get it from Lego itself before next Christmas. Just look at the Winter Village Fire Station as the example. It was released in 2018, and is still not retired. The Train is now retired this month, but it was released all the way back in 2016. edit to add: I would be careful waiting past Dec 2020 to get it though. The Winter Village Train Station was an active product from fall 2017 to Dec 2018. It was retired earlier than normal for the series. Presumably they did that because the train was a better seller and they decided to keep it for a whole other production run instead of retiring it to keep the station. Similarly, the modular Brick Bank and Detective’s Office were retired out of order, with Lego keeping the older Parisian Restaurant longer than normal.
  22. They could have a skimmer set with her, Finn, and/or Rey.
  23. Does the 200 AUD include sales tax, VAT, etc? In the US, the $75 includes no tax. In my area, for example, the tax inclusive price is ~$81. Still only translates to ~$120-121 AUD, but a little less delta. Beyond that and extra shipping cost, yeah, that seems pretty steep for a GWP threshold. I could easily understand 120 or 125. Maybe even 150. 200? Ouch.
  24. I was slightly skeptical, although not nearly as skeptical as some. On first glance, I love it. It should fit in really nicely with the other sets. They did a great job balancing the fantasy of a gingerbread house with the aesthetic of a village home. The proof will obviously be in the building and final display, but I’ll definitely be buying it.
  25. We don’t need to see his face. He’s a clone of his father. Adult Boba looks exactly like Jango and all of the clone soldiers.
