My sincere advice would be to reduce the number of figures you want drastically (10 Rohirim with horses take a bunch of space on display, too) and let the hope for any reasonable prices go or go for another project. Otherwise you really wont be happy in the end. What is important to you? Personally I don´t want clones, if they are not supposed to be clones (And if they are supposed to be clones, they have to look exactly the same, so I would not mix Storm Troopers with different helmet moulds, with and without legprinting etc. ^^´). Rohirim do not wear uniforms and are not from Karmino. They have unique appearances. I don´t get what many people like about a bunch of original rohan soldier copies... If you are fine with that, it makes things a lot easier. Do you want them accurate to books and movies? Then for example the cmf 20 vikings torso and legs are out because the blue cape doesn´t work because of the blue cape printed on the torso and It will be very difficult to get good heads, beard- and hair-pieces. Are you willing to modify pieces? If you paint some beard pieces in orange, tan and dark tan, it opens completely new possibilities. Can you switch arms and legs on a minifigure? That will do wonders, too. How important is leg printing to you? What do you need the figures for? Sitting on/in horses makes leg printig pretty irrelevant.

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

There are great custom ones available. Combined with printed arms from the UCS-Sets and an accurate gun mould it makes Boba one of the prettiest minifigures I ever saw. -

Can I be honest to you? I can't see how this is relevant to what I wrote. As far as I am informed Kennedy got a supervisor from Disney after the Solo movie and was told to keep her hands from the shows. So their success is not her achievement and it would be wrong to give her any credit for it. The high republic seems to be one of her projects and would have been canceled, if there was no information leaked already. But i don't care about that so much. If all this stuff are fake news and Kennedy just recognised one fine day that pretty much everything she did was terrible and said "hey, let's give quality writing another chance. Maybe it could save the IP", I'd happily shake her hand. I love incompetent and/or bad people growing and changing themself for the better. It doesn't change the fact, that she is without any doubt responsible for everything from her getting the job until the Solo movie. So it is important that the Mandalorian has as much success as possible for anybody, who likes classic storytelling. And with that I am out. I won't discuss this any further because it becomes off topic. -

I hope so much, that this wave will succeed for many reasons... I love how there is - as far as I can see - no needless filler stuff in any of these sets to artificially increase the price. The new slave one is just awesome. It works perfectly as a toy, has two cool figures and there is arm printing for characters, that really need them, while keeping it at a reasonable price. If the roumors are correct, there will be a Mandalorian forge, so lego saw that there are 2 not that central but really beloved characters that could be made with one new mould (blacksmith and Maul trooper)... Ok, there are stickers, but they are used for irrelevant stuff and not like the people in carbonite from the razor crest or essential elements from Harry Potter. I hope this can become a lesson of how to make future licence sets. Star Wars was such a huge thing to me in my childhoood and teen years. It made me sad, when Disney took over and announced, that what I loved most about it was non-canonical now. The hope to get new awesome stuff declined with the announcement of EA doing all video games from now on... When I saw the IP got butchered by Kathleen Kennedy in the most malevolent way imagineable, I finally lost interest completely. I don´t get emotional easily, but seeing Mark Hamil having his heart broken by the destruction of Luke Skywalker in a way that makes children cry when they see Hamil on the street, hit me. Dave Filoni´s Mandalorian is in my eyes a resurrection of what Star wars once was. Simple Stories about characters that made me care about them by going through the classic heroes journey in an interesting sci-fi-setting. The last episode of season 2 made me tear up. If the sales of toys connected to it succeed, it does their part of proving that the classic elements of good story telling matter. Maybe then we will get cinematic masterpieces again like the original Mulan or Tarzan. I´d love to get Kuiil, but I understand why they didn´t make him. The Mandalorians and Baby Yoda are cool figures even for children that don´t know the series. Shand will be most likely quite relevant to the Bad Batch series and they can use the mould in more than one set. Cara was meant to get an own show and stay relevant in the Mandalorian... also she is cheap to produce with this random hair piece. The old ugnaught piece is out of production, isn´t it? Kuiil would need to come with a Blurg... and I don´t know how popular a brickbuild one would be... A mould for a Blurg would be quite an investment, if we can´t predict how often they will appear again. We didn´t even have a Bantha until the micro fighter brick build version.. I´d just wish I hadn´t bricklinked an expensive Cara on bricklink when Disney canceled her role and stopped the merchandise production involving her.^^´ -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Is it now 15 or 25 figures? I can't imagine it being 25 to be honest... Can anyone see the Punisher in the pictures? I mean, if the leaked figure was no fake it has to be somewhere. I also can't imagine this set not including JJJ... will be interesting to see the backside. To be honest I have little problem with the same characters being often reused... my problem is that the figures are mostly pretty poorly done (I have the old Green goblin from Lego Studios with Golden eyes and the vehicle using printed wedges... pure perfection. Still can't believe it is so old. The Doc Ock from back then also looks better than all newer versions.) I need a: Regular Spiderman with dual moulded arms and legs, which are also printed in a quality that the blue doesn't shine through the blue. Lego was able to do it once and Chinese knockoff figures are still. It is nothing too crazy to expect. If he comes exclusive in an expensive set: fine. Venom as a Big fig. I won't buy the minifigure version no matter how cheap it is available. -
DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I am not sure about the appeal to new collectors. This version is much less present in the movies and and barely iconic. It's like a UCS Version of po's (or how the guy is called) X-Wing from SW Episode VII... -
Scale matters. Donald, Mickey and so on should have medium legs (which would also represent the characters better) to be smaller than Goofy. Tweety, speedy Gonzales as well as Chip&Dale should be 1x1 accessory pieces... If a licence has to be done, do it justice and don't let big empty spots open... Like Moe from the Simpsons or Eowyn and the Witchking from lotr. Especially leaving central characters away because they could be "controversial" is just annoying and I'd prefer if the theme is left untouched then.
-
Funny I had the exact same thoughts like the two comments above when I first saw the new sets. I'll make so many Photo montages of Gimli rocking with the Axe guitar :'D
-
I think I'll try to do him as a 3d printed part. Fair point :) Personally I always worry to not get characters at all, if they aren't included. Principal Skinner, Eowyn, Witch King, Faramir... there are many Characters Lego keept back for future releases and and then finished the theme.^^' Road runner has indeed 3 pieces: tail, head and the feathers on his head. The final result is still dissapointing sadly. The two pigs show again how well the medium legs would work for many cartoon characters. I think Mickey, Donald and so on would look so much better with them. Sadly 3rd party custom print can't print on the top of minifigure feet, so I can't fix uncle Scroodge :/
-
Have my complete set now... and wow... they look so incredibly much better in real life. Taz and coyote are among my favourite minifigures of all time. These characters work so well as figures. The only things I don't like about the series - Tweety: should be a little mould to match Silvester. He also looks odd as a Minifigure. The Hammer is a weak build. At least they could have given him brown technic pins to make it slightly less bad. - Petunia: odd choice. There are mich more Iconic and popular characters to choose from. - Road runner: 3 new moulds and it doesn't look too good. They should have made him a single mould or - if he really needs to be a minifig- have given him a mould like Big Bird from Seasame Street had.

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am not into the MCU (only saw Captain america and Thor 1) and did not watch any Disney+ shows. I grew up with the wonderfull "Spiderman" Trilogy (weil, the wonderfull first two :'D), some comics and lots of Videogames... so I can't recognise many of these characters. How many children watch these Disney Plus shows? I mean, they surely love a cute adorable version of baby yoda and the mando is just a cool armored figure no matter if they saw the show. The new mando set would also sell well, if it was a well done baby Chewbacca just invented for that set without any media involved. I can't see a child being very happy about some of these figures, if it isn't a character they like. Thorg is a frog Version of Thor, isn't it? I saw a drawing on instagram. It would heavily surprise me if he is an accessory. It is always one character per bag. There eben were moulds for Sebastian and Fabio(?) and Arielle from Disney 1 came with a random shell. Chip and Chap, Tweety (i know, its a WB IP, but still)... they allways come as a completely out of scale figure. -

If you bring friends, so everyone buys 12, they give you a complete box. The Lego stores at my place sell the ones you want because you can't feel thanks to Corona. So maybe you can just get your full set without the efford of reselling -
I think RR would have worked well similar to big bird from the Seasame street set... This is probably the worst licenced minifigure I ever saw :/
-
I love the 1x1-bee-round-tiles. The whole build is gorgeous (except for the one grey piece in the tree, but it is easy to fix). As someone who hates the licence I'll sell the figures and get a neat build for a good price :) So i don't care about the pig being completely out of scale (Lego should have used the baby body mould and made the head smaller) and the use of long legs for the bear. I have to admit the other 3 are executed very well. There is just one thing that bothers me: I don't get what's "cute" about wrong spelling. The "Honey"-Pots would be such lovely peaces... Now I can use them for uneducated medieval peasants at best :/

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ok ... first of all: the development of a series takes a year. The leak was before the pandemic started. If Lego isn't much better at predicting the future than any medical company or goverment this wasn't an Idea born by the pandemic. Every word about the Intention to stop Covid from spreading with it is PR talk. At the point where a company ships a product's parts alone while producing it multible times because it is cheaper to burn fuel than to pay local workers like human beings it should just stop talking about its efforts to be enviromental friendly. I am no "Friday for future"-protestor, but it is insulting to expect me doing standing ovations for greenwashing. At best this sick concept of bringing gambling to children was rejected at a medium/late stage of production, when someone suddenly realised what they were doing there... of course just in best intentions to make it more enviromental friendly ... and now the box-concept is pulled unchanged out of the dumbster just because it could help in the pandemic. I am not the creative type of guy. I need your help to explain the strategy of these altruistic modern heroes behind the raised price to 5€ while being one of the few companies doing fine during the pandemic and the decision not to offer the option to buy directly what you want for a few extra bucks (reducing the gampbling part at least a bit) like the panini blindback sticker albums had 20 years ago. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I dare to say we can rule out #1, too. If Lego would care at all, they would not have started to put a second plastic bag into the cmf-bags with the series for TLM2. If Lego switches to paper boxes it is 100% of #2 with a PR dude giving a greenwashing speech. It was also said the stickers are used because children like it sooooo much to put them on the models... sure. The Ghostbusters HQ is the kind of sets many children play with... while 4+ sets have prints. Same like #1. Of course there will be an announcement how much Lego cares about their customers and wants to protect them from disease transfer. But the idea of paper boxes was there long before Covid (there are leaks of cmf19 blind boxes). If they go back to bags - and I say they will more likely stop the cmf line completely "because the market isn´t interested in the concept anymore" than to go back) it will be because of nobody buying the boxes and not because of the pandemic being over. For my part Lego already failed. They already made me stop collecting complete serieses a while ago. As long as there were still really, really good ones I would have bought some of them (Viking of series 20, Aztec of series 21) until they reach the price of 5€ for non-licenced figures. Now I am really thinking about getting a new hobby comepletely, because I don´t want to support this company at all anymore. If there is no way to see what you are buying, this becomes gambling targeted towards chilrden with prices higher than poker games I played with adults. This is evil and I despise the person behind the decision of the bandmates-series being packed in blind boxes. -

In German there is a saying: The hope is the last one dying :,D I am not 100% sure that it will never happen after the bald bandana headgear and some other hairpiecces. To me it seems more like a tactic for saving money... like the orcs without hairpiece or headgear, which looked just terrible next to the ones with ears. There was even a bald hairpiece with pointy ears exclusive to the Goblin king set. Oh I don´t doubt there will be well-made figures. Every single dc one was really well made into minifigure form. I just doubt there will be a classic spiderman and similar iconic characters/versions. I´d expect stuff like Peter in his wrestling outfit or another not that well known spidermaan suit to be includet, that makes hardcore fans collecting variants cheer up and is "fine/ok" for many average customers... just like it wasn´t classic superman with dual moulded printed legs and a printed cape in the DC wave. -

Well... The only thing I hope at least a little bit for in the Marvel cmf is a bald "hairpiece" mould to hide the stud... It would be such a usefull part in pretty much any setting from Dwalin in the Hobbit to any Superhero with a Spiderman-like mask. But I doubt Lego will do "the perfect" classic Spiderman with printed dual moulded arms and legs or similar stuff... Such figures are enough to make some people buy even an in every other aspect terrible 100€ set like the gorgeous Arkham Knight Batman has proven a while ago. -

Oh boy... That tells us much about the quality we can expect Middle Earth never needed that to keep the reader/viewer/listener interested :/ -
That sounds interesting. could you share a link? I looked now several sites of google Images for "english timber framed houses". Also read over the Wikipedia article quickly... Didn't found any Information about round shapes inside the walls. The wooden stuctures on the outside look pretty straight in every single case except for a piece of decoration at a balcony.
-
I am sorry if I didn't articulate it very well. Yes I mean the curved timbers in the walls. Isn't the outside of a building called "fassade"? In German there is a style of building called "Fachwerkhaus". Google says it is called "half-timbered house" in englisch. It looks like that. https://www.google.com/search?q=fachwerkhaus&client=ms-android-samsung-ga-rev1&source=android-browser&prmd=inv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwingJHHxI7uAhU3ahUIHdoXBhMQ_AUoAXoECBcQAQ&biw=320&bih=586 This style of architecture can't be represented with round tiles. It goes beyond the historical accuracy problem. A toy Castle set is always a bit fantasy. In fact I am even fine with the roof which most seem to hate, because of that. The thing is: the round tiles are meant to represent wood and serve as something giving the building stability. You have to bend wood to achieve such a form. And even if there is a tree big enough so a lunatic can waste that much material cutting that shape out of it in one piece that size without having to bend it, the shape itself still screams desperately "I am a structural weakness and about to collapse soon" when looking at it. I know the round tiles are there for quite a while. Used them in some of my projects where they are really usefull. I like that piece. What I said about stupid new moulds was not meant about the pieces used in the blacksmith specifically but in general. With a new parallelogram tile you could do insanely beautifull stuff for medieval as well as pirate themes or rural City sets... I'd even have a lot of ideas for Friends with such a part. Or let's imagine the Mines of Moria where normal tiles where used in the background with Tiles designed for such an angle. I could also see them as great upgrades on Star Destroyer surfaces if you want so see less studs. Instead of such pieces we get stuff like: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=66956&idColor=86#T=C&C=86 A piece with so little advantages over 2 1x2 modified curved Slopes that would have exactly the same shape like the new mould, that it becomes ridiculous... and the main one is that Lego can put stickers on it better and save money not printing 2 1x2s which is in fact a disadvantage for customers. I zoomed in on the box pictures. They show the interior quite well. The cooking plage isn't to bad... the Rest is "meh"... if Lego isn't hiding lots of stuff in a secret treasure box not visible on the pictures- which is unlikely from a marketing perspective-, then there is pretty much none when it comes to forging in the inside besides an anvil and another fireplace. Well... I think the historical accuracy train left when there was a female knight wearing a crown put into the set, the other female figure got pants and that pirate shirt. Not to mention the roof and a lot of other elements like a knight wearing only one shoulder protection. This is pretty much a castle fantasy set - again I am perfectly fine with that - but then it should be executed better. A reddish brown version of the helmet would have been perfectly fine in such a setting. The blacksmith even has the beard that fits the helmet. We also got a brown version of the series 20 pirate hat in Barracuda bay so it gave many people hope for a recolour. It would also have given Lotr fans a great way to do Eowyn. Guess it is personal taste. I don't army build clone figures. In my little Orc Horde as well as in the other fractions every figure has a unique face, a unique armour, weapon and so on. The only thing a few characters share are the Rohirim legs that were already used for Theoden and Eomer. A recolour of the sword would have been indeed a cool thing for me as well as for many others and it is pretty easy to do. The awesome thing about a Non-silver sword is that you can paint everything that doesn't need to be grabbed by a minifigure hand. There is a reason why so many people order black Brickwarrior custom weapons. The hilt looks great in black, when you paint the rest of a sword and it stays completely playable. All my custom figures are made in a way that keeps them fully playable. They just look better.
-
To be honest I don't like the set very much. The work place is cute and a great Inspiration for MOCs. I'll bricklink the printed Tile for sure. The horse is cool. The flat silver version of the SW-Guards' armor is awesome. The female head with golden ornaments on the forehead is great for many kitbashs. And well... that's it. That's all i like about it. The round Tiles at the fassade are just awefull. There are so many stupid new pieces intruduced. Why didn't we get 2 Tiles until now which have a parallelogram shape? It would improve so many sets so much. I never expected the goat in the first place but it is still bad to not get her. What I indeed expected was a recolour of the tournament knight's sword and the viking helmet. The sword is the same colour and there isn't even a viking helmet in any colour. In fact there is such a ridicilously small amount of tools, weapons and armor, that it is not funny anymore.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
To be honest I'd be pretty annoyed by a lotr remake. Spend too much time and money making my custom Thror, Thrain, Faramir, Eowyn, Sauron and Witch king in legolike quality with custom printing, 3d printed parts, painting and so on... the quality of koruit lotr-Figures makes it pretty unlikely that too many people get tempted to start armybuilding Cmf-Uruks^^'
