A nice little build - I really do like that aquatic mando! -

Nice story and a good forced perspective! -
[O17 - Naboo - CE] Jormungandr of Naboo

I agree with the others on this - the creativity is great but all black builds can lose some of their detail when photographed. -
[O9 - Onderon & Dxun - CE] Jungle Convoy
marvelBoy123 replied to PandaQuil's topic in Factions Archive
The transition from the landscape to the bunker is vary good and I think the vegetation is probably some of the best we have seen in Factions for capturing the jungle atmosphere. -
[L10 - Tython - BS] Wreckage from an old assault
marvelBoy123 replied to dvogon's topic in Factions Archive
Really cool - a great way to approach the AT-AT - being able to build just a section of it really enabled you to capture the shapes well and give an an awesome interior. The weathering works so well too though I agree that a black border would have made it even better! -
*Your entry has earned 9 XP* Farnatros narrative: I had gone back to Devaron with Iher to help the Core Devaron movement organise a series of insurgency operations against the government. It was not long after that I received a mysterious summons to meet with an official with the Devaronian government...

[P17 - Trigalis - TT] The Grand and Imperial Hotel
marvelBoy123 replied to marvelBoy123's topic in Factions Archive
Thanks! Even after leaving TT Fnab's luck doesn't seem to have changed much for the better - every holiday he takes seems to get disrupted in one way or another! Thanks! The yellow face is a little reference that those who have been following Fnab's story for a while should appreciate Thanks, the blue and white colour scheme came about after I got a lot of the quarter round tiles on a good deal - after that I just stuck to those colours which is probably what gives the Santorini feeling. The mandalore trees stood out to me while rewatching clone wars and the design is surprisingly simple but I'm glad you like it! Thanks, the white and blue were quite difficult to work with once pieces started running low but I'm glad you like the result! -
[O10 - Gorse - TT] Thorilide Refinery Infiltration
marvelBoy123 replied to Darth Bjorn's topic in Factions Archive
Wow, such an awesome build - there is some great use of tiles, the minifigures look amazing and the use of colour for the polluted water is perfect. Overall you have really captured the gritty industrial aesthetic of a refinery. While I know you weren't sure about all different scenes in one build, I think the end result is great and the chaos is a necessary part of the industrial feel - Kessel is pretty similar as a mining world and it definitely had a lot going on so I think it works well in-universe! -
[P17 - Trigalis - TT] Underwater wreckage
marvelBoy123 replied to marvelBoy123's topic in Factions Archive
Thanks, the figure in the first shot is an umbaran - the photograph didn't show that too well so I will be reworking the design. The wreck was intended to be a wooden boat from a long time ago - I did a lot of research on wookiepedia and given how few cannon boats there are I looked at legends - there are a few mentions of wooden boats. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Boat/Legends I agree that wood maybe isn't as star wars a material as metal but the ewoks did use it so I guess it could have been used on ancient trigalis. Thanks, after I saw how well the antman and the wasp cockpit fitted together, I built the submarine around a modified version of it. Thanks, there is so much interesting design with the aquatic star wars environments so it was interesting to work with that. -
[I18 - Virgillia - TT] Wreckage of Rescue
marvelBoy123 replied to Ninja Nin's topic in Factions Archive
Really love how realistic the vehicle wreckage is - the balance between the destruction and parts remaining intact is really good! -
Love the Jawa sandtreader - such a cool idea and executed really well! The wrecked speeder is also a nice design. Is that blue milk I spot as well?

[I18 - Virgillia - TT] Imperials at the Gates
marvelBoy123 replied to Darth Bjorn's topic in Factions Archive
A nice little build - the story is very good (I always appreciate how conscious you are of canon in this time period). The landscaping looks brilliant too - having the uneven texture on the top as well as the sides works really well for a realistic transition.- 7 replies

[H19 - Skye - CFS] Operation Redress
marvelBoy123 replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Factions Archive
Nice to see all the characters brought together but for all the talk and complaining about Skye there isn't much progress - the Triumvirate isn't scared by such empty threats -
[P10 – Umbara - TT] Wreckage of days past
marvelBoy123 replied to Simulterious's topic in Factions Archive
A really nice variation of vegetation and the dark blue works nicely. I'm not totally sold on the death troopers in the scene - in the kinda overview shot they almost blend in too much to have an impact but they look almost camouflaged in the close-ups which is cool - maybe one of the red or white pauldrons would have looked better from a composition perspective? -

[I18 - Virgillia - TT] An oasis in the desert
marvelBoy123 replied to marvelBoy123's topic in Factions Archive
Yeah, I'm trying to keep my Gorse build whole for a long as possible but my collection of dark tan parts is unfortunately not as good as that of dark bluish grey because it lacks the range and number of parts. Luckily I am gradually buying up more DBG slopes when I get the chance in order to slowly replenish my collection... -

*Your entry has earned 9 XP* Welcome to the Grand and Imperial Hotel! This historic building is amongst the most exclusive hotels on Trigalis, situated in the Upper East Heffesk district of New Coronet - an up and coming destination with miles of unspoilt beaches and just 15 minutes from the city centre by speeder. The hotel lobby is decorated in the Rodian Moorish architecture style, with all materials sourced locally on the planet. The trees are of the finest quality, imported directly from Mandalore. Upon arrival a porter will collect your luggage and then our helpful staff will direct you to your room. Once you have been assigned you room why not head to the micro cantina and relax with a local cocktail. Our state-of-the-art cantina is well stocked and a range of local and intergalactic drinks can be prepared. This is the build I have worked on the longest: I started at the end of last summer and have gone through a number of variations from that point. As a keen traveller, I have wanted to build a star wars hotel for a long time and this one is particularly inspired by arabic architecture that I have seen on my travels. This will hopefully be the first in a number of parts to a series showing a few different areas in the hotel. A massive thanks to @Ross Fisher for letting me borrow Fnab for this - after Fnab's previous vacations and spa days it seemed fitting that he might be seen in a hotel such as this. As ever feedback is appreciated!

*Your entry has earned 18 XP* Trigalis was a once prosperous and beatiful world with riches and goods sailing between its ports. It had then succumbed to criminal gangs and while it appeared to be steadily improving again, the Triumvirate's interest there was rooted in its past. Many of its cargo ships had sunk and so on the ocean floors there was great hordes of treasure - commodities that were now scarce and highly valuable. After scouting out the area of one of the smaller shipwrecks, one of the Triumvirate's newest submarines was sent in : the KE-UY37. Just a quick build to try out some techniques for the submarine and landscape and wreckage. I like the aquatic designs in star wars but they have been particularly expanded on so I want to make another underwater scene in the future. Unfortunately the photography didn't come out as well as I wanted on this one - it was a pain trying to have a heavy object 'floating' without photoshop.
